Stopped here on my way from our air b&b to our non coffee drinking friends house. This location is so amazing - the outside area is wooded and tree covered with ample seating and shade. The inside also had a lot of seating. The menu offered a lot of choices. I decided on a cold brew with their house made chocolate syrup. Yum! Great choice for this 85°day. Loved this place and will stop back next time I'm in TC.

What's not to love in a place that has the three following things: 1.a baby changing station where the mat is organic, 2. crayons and books for little kids to keep busy while their people enjoy coffee and a kid sized picnic table , 3. is dog friendly (they bring ice water to fill bowls they provide) AND 4. social awareness (a community bulletin board), information about composting and a call to stop genocide (with facts and statistics updated daily). We stopped in for a latte and enjoyed the overall vibe which is crunchy, earth mama and hippie-dippy. I mean all of this in a good way. The coffee is great - very smooth, not acidic at all and 100% drinkable. In fact it is kind of addictive because it's so dang good.l! They also sell all things related to coffee: scales, beans, everything you can think of. They also sell other things like olive oil and a bit over-priced baked goods as well as the usual self promoting wearable merchandise..

If you love really good coffee and you seek it out wherever you are, it's easy to find these days just about anywhere. There are tons of spaces in cities both large and small that are not only serving up delicious freshly roasted, highly caffeinated goodness, but that are doing it in aesthetically pleasing environments. But sometimes you get lucky and everything is all there in one place at the same time from the overall vibes down to what's in the cup, and you end up having a coffee that makes you wish you lived across the street from the place. This is one of those places. So good. Expert baristas. Fantastic roasts. Love it. Would return daily if it was in my local area.

Tucked away behind the hospital, Higher Grounds Coffee is a hidden gem in Traverse City. I have nothing but good things to say about the coffee, the space and the people. It's one of my favorite places to stop when I'm up north!

Friendly service. They want you to have a good experience and will offer suggestions if they know you've combined some ingredients in your drink that will distract from its awesomeness. 1980s nostalgia music playing in the background really sealed the deal for me... that and the crazy tall windows! So cozy!! Love this place!! I will definitely be back!!

Great fresh coffee. Hard to beat. We've ordered the coffee online before since we live downstate, but had never visited the place in person. So, when we were in the neighborhood, we made a point to check it out and buy some coffee. The store was inviting, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely worth the visit.

Amazing place to read a book and soak up nature. The specialty roasts are also a must so stock up. Their Oatmilk Mochas are my go to here.

After buying their beans downstate for years, I was thrilled to be able to visit their shop. Great cold brew!

Love this little coffee spot. Delicious espresso, great beans to brew at home. Oat milk available for a vegan/dairy free latte.

They had a solid food and drink menu and we enjoyed our oysters and tuna carpaccio apps. The avocado toast was inedible. The eggs were barely cooked. The greens were plain and undressed (bitter arugula). The tomatoes were soggy. The bread was thin and untoasted, so it got soggy really quickly. The avocado was a thin consistency (maybe packaged avo?), browning, and a super thin layer. They gave me a little side of fresh berries that seemed like they were packaged for a few days (strawberries a little sketch.) They were out of almond croissants and many other pastries (10a on a tues.) You order at the counter and they bring food to you. I found a paid parking spot in the lot right in front ($1.50/hr or so). There are lots of cute seating areas so this space would have potential if they fix the food situation. The pictures on their Instagram made it look much tastier than it was :/

As an obnoxious California Bay Area coffee snob, I was blown away by this place. Really, really,…read morereally good coffee with friendly service and a cute little shop in the heart of downtown TC. As a testament to this place's service, we were actually recommended this place as a place to use the bathroom without needing to pay by a worker at a clothing store across the street. But, we smelled the delicious coffee beans and saw that they roasted their own beans in the back of the store and decided to try it. My gf said the mocha here is better than at Cat and Cloud in Santa Cruz (extremely high praise, formerly her favorite). I agreed, even as a person who prefers a latte or a cup of drip. Really smooth and creamy chocolate without the usual mocha grittiness/graininess, with a great roasty coffee flavor to balance it out. The craziest thing is C&C (or any Bay Area/NorCal coffee shop) will charge you $7-8 for a mocha. This place was less than $5! Amazing deal for some high quality, house roasted coffee.

I also have ice cream available, lots of places to sit and relax nice music playing a fireplace that I'm sure is probably really nice in the winter time.
