The price was right for what this spa offered, in my opinion. I came here with friends on a freezing day in January. The check in process was easy, we were given lockers for our shoes and clothing, and also given shorts and a t-shirt to wear in the co-ed areas of the spa. On the women's only side there's a steam room and one hot tub, as well as showers in this area. It was a bit crowded in the hot tub, but eventually spots opened up and we were able to go in and relax. After a while we decided to head down to the co-ed area, which features three different dry saunas - one salt, one red rock, and one traditional one. These were also pretty busy, but we were able to get spots in each and take in the heat and enjoy them. There are common areas where you can sit and play games, as well as a cafeteria featuring Asian food, smoothies and tea. I do wish that this spa had more tub options (like a cold plunge, or salt water pool), but for the price I do think it was a great value. I came here on a Friday night after work after getting the deal on Groupon (half off admission). The place is small but not crowded at all. You're given the standard uniform (T-shirt and shorts), towels, and a complimentary face mask. There's a small hot tub and steam room in the locker room. Downstairs had the traditional Korean saunas (salt, red clay). They also had a restaurant with food, snacks, and drinks. It was clean but not worth staying for more than 2 hours. If you can't make it to King Spa, it has the basics but I think it's worth going to NJ. read more

I love a Korean body scrub. This one did the job but there were a few hiccups that I haven't experienced at other Korean spas. They are a 'no shoes facility.' Most places have slippers to wear inside the spa. Where they want you to take your shoes off didn't make sense because you end up barefoot in an area everyone walks on with shoes. Not very sanitary to me. Also, the English was very limited among the workers. Several times when we started, we had to go back up front to get clarification on navigating the facility. Lastly, we felt rushed during the soaking. It was supposed to be an allotted 30 minutes but they were in and out of the room and our scrub started earlier than scheduled. I found myself staying at a hotel across the street and had some extra time before my return trip, so I decided to give this a try. They were running a half-off admission special, provided you booked at least a day in advance. As a larger person, they did have a spa uniform in my size however I was wearing the largest they had and if I come back again I would bring my own towel to cover myself in. I easily located the space, which was welcoming. Since it was a weekday, it was fairly empty. The men's and women's locker rooms, steam rooms, and showers were on the main level in separate areas. The saunas, treatment rooms, and cafeteria were on a lower level, and all areas were clearly marked. I did note a smell of mildew in the steam room so I didn't stay in it long. I noted a handicap chair lift and accessible bathrooms, but I found that the hot tub area didn't have wheelchair access, though it did have a handrail. The co-ed areas were well organized, and the addition of board games was a nice touch to the space. The cafeteria offered many quick options for food and drinks. I tried a small mixed plate and found everything to be well-cooked and reheated nicely. For the value, this space was nice and clean--perfect for some downtime. read more

I booked a birthday spa package for my mother and made it very clear that this was a surprise gift and that I would not be present. I called ahead, spoke with a representative, explained that it was my mother's birthday, and asked for the entire process to be seamless. I chose the highest package, put my card on file, and was never once told that I would need to be physically present with the card. My mother drove approximately 40 minutes for her appointment. When she arrived, she was told that payment was still needed because I was not there with my physical card. If my mother had not brought her own card, she would have had to drive all the way back home without receiving services on her birthday. Since I was in church at the time, I had to step outside to take the call and try to sort everything out. I was then told that only a deposit had been placed on the card, despite my understanding that everything had already been arranged. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there. My mother was taken to the wrong room for the wrong service. Staff later realized the mistake, interrupted the service, and moved her to another room. After completing one treatment, she was advised not to use the wet steam room because of the products that had been applied and was instead told to use the sauna. Then she was told she was done for the day. She checked out and left believing her birthday package was complete. Later, the spa called and informed her that she still had additional services remaining. The employee who checked her out never mentioned this, and no one realized she was supposed to continue on to her massage and remaining treatments. Had my mother not called me and had I not contacted the spa, she never would have known she was missing part of the package I paid for. The scheduling, communication, and coordination from beginning to end were a complete breakdown. To be fair, my mother did say the staff was friendly, the facility was clean, and she enjoyed the portions of the services she received. My frustration is not with the staff's friendliness or the cleanliness of the spa. It is with the booking process and the multiple communication failures that turned what should have been a relaxing birthday gift into a stressful and disappointing experience. I spoke with a manager afterward, and even he seemed dumbfounded by everything that had happened. This is a very small Korean sauna located in Ktown. There are only 2 floors, 3 dry saunas, 1 jacuzzi, and 1 steam sauna. The 2 floors is on 4th floor (the one you start at) and contains lockers, showers, jacuzzi, and the steam sauna. In the showers and jacuzzi, you can either choose to go full nude or bring your own swimsuit, but no flip flops are allowed. Downstairs on the 3rd floor is the common area for eating, lounging, and resting. Everyone is required to wear their uniform in this section. There are 3 dry saunas (ranging from temps of 140 to 150 deg), a cafeteria, about 10 tables total, and a resting red clay room. The red clay room is heated just warm enough to lay and nap comfortably, but would be make more sense to have a door to close off the space and sound from the outside to make it more relaxing. Because the place is so small, the walking space is significantly limited. It can even get crowded enough that there isn't room in the dry saunas and you have to wait your turn to go inside. The one upside to The Spa Club is that they have their own board games and books for you to enjoy! This was a delightful surprise, as I haven't seen it in any other sauna. Overall, the whole experience is worth it if you get the 50% off general admission day pass that you can only use a day after purchasing the ticket. It's around $30-35 if you get it on Groupon. Otherwise, if you're paying full price admission, I would rate it a 3 star and suggest going elsewhere for a more elite experience. read more

This was such a wonderful treatment! I got the signature K Scrub 90 minutes plus 20 minute scalp treatment add-on. Divine! The quality of the service was so high and the woman doing my scrub was so experienced and really knew what she was doing. Her name was Sue. She got into every crevice for my scrub and I don't think I've ever been cleaner in my entire life. The quality of the massage was really high and she used a specialty product from Korea on my skin that smelled incredible and I haven't been able to find any US stores. We arrived around 6pm on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. Their peak hours on the weekends are 12-5pm so plan accordingly to avoid crowds. I also highly recommend getting their Groupon deal which gives you at least half-priced admission but needs to be purchased at least 24 hours before you want to go. General admission includes spa loungewear, a personal locker for shoes and belongings, and access to the 3 dry saunas, sleeping room lounging area, 1 soaking tubs, 1 steam room, toiletries and towels. It's inspired by traditional Korean bathhouses but it's way smaller than any I've been to in NJ. I enjoyed the saunas & steam room the most. My scrub service with Maya was beyond anything I could've imagined. she was careful with me on the table , engaged in conversation answered any questions and gave me a warm happy birthday. I then moved on to a 90 minute hot stone massage with Kim. That had by far been the best massage I ever had in my life! It felt like she could feel my problem areas and went further to stretch my arms a bit and adjusted pressure where she felt necessary. I came here on a Saturday with my friend and there was a promo going on, which was half off regular admission. It wasn't crowded either (probably because it's winter, not sure) Upon entering, you are given complimentary face masks, which was nice. The women's spot has a hot tub and steam room. Although it's just one tub, I felt it was just enough for me. The common area had about 3 different dry saunas, which was more than enough for me. I also like the assorted Korean icecream snacks they had in the food court (I'm obsessed with 'melona' bar). I wasn't a fan of the regular food options (kimbap and ramen was underwhelming). My recommendation is to eat in the ktown area before coming to the Spa. Although I'm aware these spas are fully nude (in the designated gender sections), I wish they at least had private shower stalls like in SOJO. When its cold out, I wish there were Korean Spas in Boston! Recently went to @the.spa.club in NYC. I really enjoyed a long morning soaking in a warm bath, resting in hot saunas, a korean scrub, massage, a few vegan friendly snacks, and just relax and do nothing! I ordered gimbap without egg and tried @every.daze Sweet Jelly C which was sooo good. What I enjoyed most were the variety of hot saunas. The facility is beautiful and clean. I wish there were more soaking tubs with a variety of temperatures, but for limited space in NYC, this was the best place I have been to! Will def return next time I am in the city! My experience here was on a weekday and I came and took advantage of the early morning arrival pricing. It was not crowded and was nice to decompress solo. They did have an issue with their payment system when I first came in and had to wait like 10 mins before they let me use their facilities. When I first entered, they give you the outfit you wear once you are done showering and using the pools. You put your items in a locker you are assigned by the wristlet you are given to wear. The pool area are separated by genders of course as you are naked. The pool area isn't as big/lots of options as other Korean spas I've been to but it makes sense given the location. You can also get a massage in this area. The steam room wasn't hot and honestly might not have been on because it was pretty empty. I didn't bother asking someone who works there as there was some language barrier but also it was pretty much me that wanted to use it. Once I was done using the bathing/water facilities, you can blow dry your hair and dry it and put the pink outfit they give you and enjoy the various clay rooms. These have varying temperatures and honestly I had a great time due to the off hours. I also napped at the rest room which was great and there is a little block for your head to go on. There is a decent amount of tables if you want to eat or talk with friends too. I didn't order food as I wasn't planning to stay that long and I wasn't planning to come here for a meal. Pros: good scrub IF you get the right therapist. My therapist was a bit rough with my face and turning my head from side to side. I've been to many Korean spas but this one was far from great. I was visiting for a few days and thought I'd give it a try. Cons: Unless you've been to a Korean spa you have no idea what to do. The language barrier doesn't help but when I arrived for my 11:30appointment I was told to shower then soak in hot tub and use steam room. I was there at 10:45 to use these facilities. No robe or slippers and one small towel. the step into the hot tub is high, very easy to get injured. It's not very deep but the steam room was nice. I went downstairs to check out the different rooms and someone comes to get me earlier than planned, they again told me to shower and I told them I'm already did that ... I had to repeat myself a few times. During the scrub the therapists kept talking to each other which I thought was very unprofessional and they were so loud, not an enjoyable environment at all. I do not recommend The SPA Club. Two days after I received an acupressure facial from them, one of my eyelids started swelling and became painful to the touch. I do not wear makeup and made no changes in my usual routine in between my The SPA Club facial and when my eyelid started swelling, so logically it was my facial at The SPA Club that caused the problem. I understand mistakes like this happen, but when I requested a refund after thinking hard about the impact on their business, The SPA Club did not take responsibility for their mistake. Instead, management's response was "We want to clarify that none of our facial treatments, including the Acupressure facial, involve any contact with the upper eyelid area. The esthetician who provided your service is highly experienced and well-trusted by many of our regular clients. With that in mind, we truly regret to inform you that the symptoms you're experiencing do not appear to be a result of the treatment you received. While we cannot offer a refund under these circumstances, we would still like to extend our care and appreciation by offering you a complimentary admission for your next visit." The fact is that the esthetician, who I am sure is very experienced, nevertheless did make contact with my upper eyelid area multiple times. They say there are other causes, but given that my eyelids were touched multiple times, their own email admits to the issue. Finally, as The SPA Club caused my swollen eyelid, why would I ever return, complimentary admission or not? In short, I am disappointed by the service I received there but am much more disappointed by their refusal to make things right. I did not pay $240 to get an eye infection. read more

I know a massage is especially good if I fall asleep on the table, and that's what happened during the massage. I hope I wasn't snoring! Prepping: After paying, proceed to your gender's restroom to put your shoes away into the first section of little cubbies. Look for your specific locker noted on the magnetic bracelet they give you. I'm not sure if it'll fit bigger shoes and boots but your everyday sneakers should fit here. You'll be spending the rest of your time here barefoot. After putting your shoes away you can move to the next section to find your personal locker for your personal belongings. A staff member in the restroom should provide you with the uniform. Wet Room: Enter nude - shower first before using hot tub or wet sauna ‍ Dry Rooms: The other half of the spa with food, tables, massages, and hot rooms at around 140F/60C Food: I'd say get the ramen. It's the smallest Korean spa I've ever been to, especially compared to Island Spa (NJ). They only have one jacuzzi bathtub (not hot at all), with a maximum capacity of five people at a time. The open standing showers are positioned right in front of the jacuzzi, which feels like a poor design choice. I also noticed some particles in the jacuzzi. I'll start with the bad and end with the good. My biggest problem was the lack of consideration of some staff. You're required to wear uniforms they provide. Myself and other clients of fuller frames received offhanded comments. As my group left I noticed people complaining to management. They also seemed unorganized. Not sure if they double booked but they made my group change all of our appointments that we scheduled in advance. Lastly, the "hot tub" was a bath. No jets just lukewarm water. My friend repeatedly had globs stick to her body. The hair wasn't from anyone in my group. Also, if you don't like showered naked in front of ppl don't come. The services saved the experience. The bath is separated by men and women and both are inside the respective locker rooms. You must take a shower before you enter the bath. They give you a bath and a face towel and a spa uniform. Females wear pink and males wear white. When you leave the locker room or takes you to the coed area where there is a kitchen, a seating area where you can play board games or eat, 1 room that you can sleep in with about 10 mats and a TV, and 3 hot sauna rooms that you can use. There is a steam room too but it was not working on the day we came. I honestly think if any part of the spa is not working you should get a discount on your purchase or maybe a voucher for another visit. You are paying a lot to use the facility and you can't use it!! The spa is nice and clean but for the price it is pretty small if all you're looking to do is relax and use the facilities I don't think it's worth it. But if you're going to get a service and the facilities are free to use with your service then it may be worth it for you.
