We were very excited to come to this brewery and we were highly disappointed. We ordered chips and salsa and they were very stale and we politely had them sent back and did not want another order of them and the chef was very hostile about the fact we did not want to eat stale chips. Our waitress was very sweet! The beer was great, and the brewery itself is beautiful. It is too bad the attitude of some of the staff was awful or we would have stayed there for a while. read more

One of my new favorite brewery's! My husband and I can bring our daughter to grab good Pizza and a really good beer while she plays. There is only 4? tables by the play area so if it's a busy night you might be out of luck. This place is AWESOME!!!!!! We were in Missoula for the Pearl Jam concert a few weeks ago and stumbled onto Highland Beer leaving town towards Glacier. Honestly we weren't looking for pizza but the location was great and we were totally wowed. First - I cannot recall the last time my husband like every beer in a tasting flight. While I don't drink a lot, the Strawberry Wheat is fantastic. 2nd - the pizza was delicious. Hand-tossed and what an amazing crust! Two of our daughters live in Missoula with their families and 3 grand kids. We have frequented highlander over the years and always enjoyed the experience. Excellent beers, pizza, salads and nachos. Our family of 8 visited for lunch on Saturday Feb 13th. Our waitress was friendly but not attentive enough. She seemed to have more tables than she could handle. So we had to wave down the trans server to ask for some items, a salad, another beer, some condiments, etc. He was just out right rude. Seemed ticked off we waved him down. At first said he couldn't help us and told me our waitress would need to. Perhaps it was my wife's scowl that changed his tune a wee bit, cause he agreed to get us our salad but refused to get us a beer. Didn't bring the condiments we asked for. He also was just not a nice person. Very unfriendly and frankly rude whenever he came to our table. Almost like he wished he wasn't so busy. Our daughter and SIL went out on the patio to vape and got locked out and after knocking on the door were let back in and told they couldn't be OUTSIDE and come back in because they can't have people come in and out and not know where they had been. Let me start by saying that while it is clearly a place of adult beverage, the pizza has a special place in my heart. Seating is both indoors and out. On a warm evening the outside seating is perfect. Nothing like a beer and 5 slices of pizza to really get the tummy churning. Montana beer is something special so be sure to check this one out along with all the other breweries. I love the Highlander. The atmosphere is amazing, as well as the pizza. Highlander is a large family friendly brewery with lots of room, inside and out. This is one of my favorite places to grab some food and a couple beer after work, with or without the kids. During the summer months Highlander offers a large outdoor area with tons of seating, and an outdoor taco truck. If I had one complaint it would be the long lines and wait time to get a beer. Once your in there are basically only two registers to order from. This becomes extremely problematic when it's busy. You're only allowed to have 3 beers, and if you're with friends you can spend 10-15 minutes in line waiting for a brew and miss all the conversation. Highlander needs to address this issue. Others than that I have no complaints. Great place! read more

Yummy pizza and beer at the outskirts of town. The pizza is handmade and filling. The beer was good, even though I had to forgo my favorite (dark beers - I know it's summer, but I love them year round!). They did, however, have several good wheat beers on tap. The ginger ale was too sweet for my taste, or else I would have gotten a crowler to go. The staff were suuuuper nice and welcoming. There is a nice patio with ample space for outdoor dining/drinking if the weather cooperates. read more

Visiting Missoula to see some family so we brought the kids and adults. The decor and 'feel' are awesome. Beer was great, service was great, kids area is great. Weather was a little cool, so we didn't go outside but the patio area bordering the creek looked good too. The Belgian Strong Ale was great, as was the IPA and the Black IPA. Good beer! I'm a hop head, so usually opt for the IPA, which was fantastic! I was famished when I arrived, but all they have on the menu is pizza. I'm not a huge pizza fan, but reluctantly ordered a piece,so I could enjoy my beer without falling off the seat. Out came one of the best pizza slices I've ever had! Most people that go here will be interested in hearing about the beer. I'll start off with a disclaimer - traveling across the country, one becomes familiar with an ample number of breweries, pubs, bars, etc. I have seen many, many, many types breweries, pubs, bars, dive bars, speakeasies, etc. Not playing an expert on beer mind you. You are probably wondering about now why the 3-star rating? Well, after seeing many, many, many of these types of establishments, one becomes attuned, and possibly snobbish to their offerings. That being said here is the assessment of Highlands - Just your average brew tap house. Nothing remarkable. Nothing unique. So, it is just average. The beer is too... Prices are OK, but they should be since the beer is "just okay". I was there about 25 minutes ago, and can't even remember what I had to drink (no fault of the alcohol)... Only 2 pints of unremarkable beer and I had enough. The menu description of the pizza is better than the pizza. If you care about just hanging out and drinking OK beer, eating pretty mediocre pizza with friends (still having a good time mind you), this is a good place. If you have become a snob like me, you'll be disappointed with the "sameness" Highland shares with all breweries, and even does it a little worse. Generously given 3 stars... read more

Spacious setting for a casual afternoon of catching up with friends. The menu is extremely limited so come here for the atmosphere and beer, not a feast. That said the sold-by-the-slice pizza is solid as are the bar snacks. There's a play area for the kids too. read more

Stopped by after a bike ride and was pleasantly surprised! I had a flight of IPA s and rye beers. Bright and hoppy (IPA), and the rye was tasty. This has become the hip place in town to host your toddler's birthday party. No longer a relaxing neighborhood brewery but a place to bring in your own birthday party gear. It is overrun with kids, balloons and birthday cake. Highlander makes great craft beer but the kiddie carnival atmosphere has pushed me out. read more

This was my first trip to Missoula and Missoula brewing wasn't far rom my hotel. Great atmosphere, good beer, good food. Enjoyed pizza and a flight of beer next to the stream that flows next to the outdoor area. The stream reminds me of va brewery in Littleton CO next to the S. Platte.
