Cheeseburger

Small location with about 4 seats so don't plan on eating it there. With San diego stickers and sports teams on the wall, I can see why it is compared it to an in n out burger but I would describe it as its own thing. The menu is small and concise. The secret sauce is less like a thousand island and more like an aioli. Fries are like an elevated McDonalds fry. Burger includes a whole raw onion slice which I recommend subbing for grilled onions.

While waiting for Spirals next door to open up, I realized that High Life also was open and served breakfast sandwiches. I lean towards a savory breakfast rather than sweet - so able to have the best of both worlds was favorable. Small place with pickup/takeout - just a few seats for counter dine-in. Spoke with the owner who was there and he was very informative and accomodating. Ended up ordered a BEC with breakfast potatoes, and he did a custom iced coffee for me with oat milk. The sandwich was very good and VERY FRESH - totally burned my face off on the first bite - but the bun, egg cheese and the bacon weave on the top was very very good. A nice size as well. The sauce on the sandwich was a Chipotle style mayo which added a nice kick. The potatoes were kind of normal - came with ketchup. Really cool place - would love to stop back for a burger as well.

Service was great, super nice and made everything really quick ~ on a Sunday afternoon. The place itself is tiny, just order to grab and go! We saw a review that said "burger so good, bought a shirt" we thought it was funny but also if the burger was really thaaaaat good that it made you buy the shirt, we had to try. Burger was ok LOL ~ skip the cheeseburger, was giving more onion burger than anything, also unfortunately kinda reminded me of white castle/wendys. The HighLife burger is the In N Out dupe and it is duping but it didn't really hit the craving, didn't really even satisfy the burger craving period. Was def better than the cheeseburger tho! Queso fries were soooooo saucy. Not really giving In N Out cheese fries/animal fries dupe. I think maybe there was maybe more jalapeños or overall acidity that we just weren't loving. BUT!!! We will come back when we're drunk, it might be a reallyyyyyyy good drunk burger ~

HighLife Burger is a fairly new no-frills burger spot located on First Avenue in the East Village. the burger place serves a menu of burgers, fries, and hotdogs from morning to night as well as a small breakfast menu served from morning to 3pm. the interior is a casual clean modern interior. there are only a few seats if you want dine, here. the menu is concise and really focused on burgers and fries as the main draws. the burgers are a NYC nod to some of In-N-Out's classics, but HighlLife burgers are much their own thing even though they might look similar and have similar burger ingredients (tbh not sure In-N-Out burgers can ever be replicated on the East Coast.) anyway, the HighLife burgers are solidly satisfying. the burgers are not smash, but the patties are somewhat thin but not "smash burger thin." the Double HighLife burger --two beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and secret sauce (mayo ketchup based sauce) on a buttered potato bun. the burgers are made-to-order and have that juicy burger messiness that makes for satisfying late night eats when the hangry-ness shows up. the burgers are meaty, but i would say it tasted a bit over seasoned and almost a little bit too salty which takes away from the burger. the cheese is nice and melty smooth. the lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles add some nice fresh texture and flavor to the burger especially the tomato, pickle slices, and sliced onions. the sauce is fine but it could mask how salty the burger patties were. the potato bun holds together pretty good. tbh, probably doesn't need to be buttered. each bite into the burger has a nice ratio of the different ingredients. also, had a single patty HighLife burger and tasted about the same, but the over saltiness/seasoning of the burger was still there. if you stop by HighLife for a burger, don't skip on the French fries. they are stellar. thin cut fries that are crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, and make for one delicious serving of fries that were fried fresh! the service was friendly and my food was packed up nicely. overall, the burgers were solid, but they need to rework the seasoning or the amount used for consistency's sake. the fries were amazing, and if there is a must order...it's those!

The employees were super nice and their menu is simple. There's very limited seating but we were able to grab two spots at the wall. The cheeseburger was good, it has everything you'd expect in a burger. I liked that it didn't feel super heavy. The fries and the sauce that came on it was good too. While everything was good nothing really felt worth coming back for unless we're in the area or craving a late night bite.

We stopped by for dinner recently and were excited to try the burger that is similar to In-n-Out. There are not seats, but a counter to eat at. We order the highlife burger and queso fries. The burger looked like the classic In-n-Out burger, topped with lettuce, onion, cheese, pickle and secret sauce. It was cooked perfectly, but could have used a little more sauce on it. The queso fries were crispy and covered in queso and a little jalapeño. It was hard to stop eating them, they were addictive. Highlife Burger is a good burger option in the neighborhood!

I'd found out about this place through IG, touting it as an In N Out dupe. As a Californian transplant, I had to see for myself because you can't find anything like that over here and the cravings hit sometimes. Maybe it's because I came in with high expectations but the burger I had tasted nothing like In N Out. Iykyk, In N Out patties have a certain saltiness to it and the buns are almost glazed. The texture of the patties at Highlife is also very different, almost like frozen patties at a bbq cookout. I think In N Out shines because everything is fresh, never frozen. But if you like these burgers, I'm not here to yuck your yum. I just want to throw caution in the wind for any Californian who might be curious.

Had one of the best burgers yesterday at the new HighLife burger in the East Village! I love when a spot has a simple menu - means they do one thing and they do it right! Highly recommend their HighLife Burger with all the fixing and some queso friend that come with pickles + jalapeños. This one is also open super late so it's the perfect spot to end the night. Enjoy!

Went here after coming across their Instagram and seeing that it's within walking distance. This area although saturated with places to get a great burger is noticeably lacking in casual service takeout burger spots. The high life burger tasted similar to a traditional In n out burger, but with a different kind of bun. However, dare I say...the Queso fries are actually much better than In n out's animal style fries with a nice queso sauce, special sauce and chopped pickles/ jalapeños. The Mexican coke and Steve's key lime pie offerings are also a major plus.

Yeah it's legit. Great burger for a great price. Definitely going to be a new east village fav.

In-n-out flavor dupe on the East Coast! (but more pricey)The burger was soooo good, cooked to perfection and the hot patty perfectly contrasted the cold onion and lettuce. The sauce enhanced the flavor even more. I got a single and thought they could've put more sauce on mine, but my friend got the double and his was pretty saucy. The fries were very crispy, but there was a very small amount for $4.50.

Don't let the small burger fool you, it's definitely heart. The burger has onions smashed in them and the patty is so juicy. A double cheeseburger burger for $9.50? In New York City none the less. Unheard of. On top of that our cashier was so great, you can totally tell she cares about her job. Is her name Mariah? Maybe. African American girl, super nice so helpful. Eve thought it was busy we were able to get a seat. If you're in NY and you want a good, hearty cheeseburger this is a good spot. I'm from California and I've been craving this place.

Apparently, he had been here before and never said a word... after one bite, I'm not sure how that was possible. After a long day of being out, we were starving and needed something that would really hit the spot. We ordered the spicy cheeseburger with an Impossible patty and fries, and wow -- it was exactly what we needed. The burger was packed with flavor, satisfying, and somehow both indulgent and perfectly simple at the same time. Love how simple they keep the place. The lines move quickly and there is seating, but it is usually packed. They also have tables outside to stand. I'm already thinking about when I can go back. Do I need a reason? Do I need to actually be hungry? Probably not. That's how good it was. 7th Street Burger absolutely lived up to the hype, and I'm just annoyed I didn't know about it sooner. Can't wait to go back and try more!

So I have been seeing this place for a while now on my social media feed through an influencer (you…read moremight know who Im talking about hehe) Service: Pretty straight forward, I did wait around 10 minutes to get my food, so I would presume it was due to how fresh it should be. Ambiance: I could see this place being very busy so having a seat is not guaranteed and the space looked clean and well taken care of. Food: well I order the fried chicken sandwich and added Cheddar Cheese to it (they have option between American & Cheddar) kept pickle, lettuce and tomato and I added to it Small fries. Well I would assure you that it is one of the best fries I have ever had and they taste so good and look at the portion, its amazing. The burger was great, I loved it honestly especially the Bun, sauce and pickles. I have one small remark regarding the chicken is that it need more marination either in slices or something cause it felt dry when biting into it. I also I wanna see a spicy chicken sandwich option as well.

I have to be careful though, because it seems much of their menu is fried in beef tallow. What I Ordered: - Grilled Chicken Char: a little salty, chicken breast tenderized + expands beyond the bun - Small Fries: plenty for 1, adequate for 2 people, not super salty, shoestring style which i love

When you walk in, the menu is clearly visible above the register and they have burritos, quesadillas, and much more. The fam has always hyped the burritos, so I wasn't really looking to try anything else for my first time. I was on the fence between the chicken ranchero and seitan burrito. Since I had never had the latter before, I have to give it a try. I liked that there was an option for a spinach tortilla, I went with that. It was ready in about 10 minutes, and while it is indeed a take out spot, no one else was sitting inside, so we were able to occupy the four seats that were there. The burrito was humongous. I should have taken a picture of it, but I was so hungry and ready to dive in I just didn't. It was delicious. We all shared chips and a hefty amount of red salsa, that was surprisingly spicy. What a meal! We were lucky to just beat a big crowd of people. Folks were standing around waiting and pretty much the entire standing area of the little place to get orders. I'm glad I finally got to try and I would come back. The closest thing that I normally go to is the Nintendo store. I could definitely make it happen again.

My Taysty Tayke: Get Down & Dirty, Expeditiously: Tikkaville Sandwich One of the more interesting chicken sandwiches I've had. The tikka sauce, mint chutney, pickled onions, and coleslaw all come together in a way that really works. Flavorful, layered, and memorable. The Clucking Waffle Sandwich was spicy with more of a buffalo-style flavor than I expected. Definitely a lot to handle in sandwich form.
