Upon walking in the door the ambiance was off. There were multiple staff standing around the host table chatting and we got the quick "hi, how many" with a side eye. Wasn't very busy, maybe 4 tables. They then asked inside or outside. It was stuffy and dark inside so we opted for outside and the hostess looks at us and says with a snared lip, almost in disgust, "ok, well if you get cold, just know you cant switch tables to come inside"... ummm ok, thanks. Fast forward, we had just gotten off the road from a 10 hr drive with 2 toddlers, surviving on beef jerky, pirates booty and water... hungry, tired and kids wound up. We just wanted to eat and go get cozy in our hotel for the night. Server took about 10 min to even come out to us, we weren't quite ready so she left without even a drink order. Another 10 min goes by and she finally comes back and laughs it off stating, "sorry I have a really talkative table inside... I was awkwardly trying to back away as they kept talking". Figured the Mile High Nachos were a great shareable for all of us and a side of fries because that's all my baby girl eats right now. Took another 10 -15 min or so to get our food, in which they were what I call "lazy nachos" when I don't feel like cooking... chips dumped from a bag topped with pre grated cheese. The tomatoes looked days old, dry and pale. The jalapeños were dry and cut so thick you'd thought you were reaching a pickle. There was no layering to the madness, and the grilled chicken was very familiarly similar to the store bought precooked salad chicken... the salsa bland and sweet. The fries... possibly fried multiple times, no potato left... petrified. Basically flavorless and almost inedible, we ate what we could to just get something in our bellies and kids off to bed. Sadly, we won't be returning. This place was a joke of a restaurant, given I could have bought a bag of chips, grated cheese and salad chicken breast, and made this in my hotel room for half the price. read more

The removal of one star is because they changed their happy hour, and not for the better. It now ends at 5 pm, not 6 pm, and they changed the food menu and got rid of the mac & cheese with sausage that was on happy hour. We come here every year in the summer, and just decided Kenosha is not in our rotation any more. It was an unusually warm day in March. We sat outside with a beautiful view of the mountains. They have daily specials, so we split a turkey French dip. The crispy onions and cheese is a must! We randomly stumbled into Kenosha Grill while wandering the cutest little mountain town, and wow -- what a gem. The bison meatballs were incredible, and the skewers were straight . Everything we tried was so good, but honestly, the staff is what made the whole experience unforgettable. To start, I had only heard of this place because they had posted in a beer group about having Pliny the younger on tap last year--so I knew they at least had a good beer selection. What I didn't expect was great service and amazing food with a nice cozy ambiance. My buddy and I nestled up to the bar and I the bartender, Lily, was very pleasant, patient and helpful as we looked over the menu. Came in for dinner on a Sunday evening with a very large party. They had us sit out back and told us we'd have to order our drinks/food form the bar, which was totally fine! They have a ton of outdoor seating and it's great for large parties/families. The bartenders were amazing. Super friendly and patient while we made our selections. Everything came out quick and hot. I had the Tipsy burger which was very good and came out medium cooked just as I had ordered. The bbq sauce on the table has a good tang to it and getting a side of ranch for dipping fries was good as well. For our family vacation, I had researched several places to eat and landed on Kenosha. I read several reviews about unprofessional staff here and was looking for that, but I didn't find it to be the case at all. We were immediately greeted and the host asked where we were from. We sat in the patio which was very nice. It is pet friendly too! Our waitress was very friendly and responsive. I think if you go in expecting the staff to be young adults who snowboard in their free time and don't take life too seriously, everyone will get along just fine. We had the pretzel appetizer and it was yummy and wanted more. My daughter and I both had the portobello wrap and appreciated some vegetarian options. My husband had the prime rib French dip and actually got full. He said it was very tasty. Generous portions all around. My son had the ribeye and ordered it medium and it came well done. He sent it back and the second one came out nearly as well done. He ended up eating it, but if you're looking for a steak, I don't have confidence that they can actually cook it to order. We're regulars to Breckenridge and in times past Kenosha was a frequent place to stop. Service was 10 out of 10 The main dish was terrible this time.
