Friends invited us here for lunch a few days ago. They had been looking for a Japanese restaurant since moving to Diamond Bar area. We were warmly welcomed as we entered the restaurant. Interior was contemporary and clean. Great lunch specials offered . All 5 of us ordered the same meal! Sashimi and sushi roll combo for everyone and was enhanced with meat bento lunch * order the fresh house made horseradish side ! ( extra$ but with it ! ) Waitress was attentive and pleasant . 03/10 stopped in for lunch special serving until 2 Warmly welcomed in by Cailin! We were immediately seated! Cailin was super attentive and very polite! My husband loves the yellowtail nigiri it's fresh and delicious very good cut and he loves side ponzu sauce! Everything was perfect. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted promptly. The decor is clean and modern. The tables were clean and ready for us to sit down. Very attentive service and they came around regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be coming back and can see myself becoming a regular. Ordered a PREMIUM chirashi for take out, so can't say much about the service. Ambiance is standard for Japanese restaurant - nothing extraordinary. Chirashi bowl itself was solid. They gave a nice mix of fish, the uni was actually of decent quality. Toro etc - definitely what you'd expect from a premium chirashi bowl. My only problem (and the biggest problem) is that they gave a horse radish pack? Like why? New establishment - had every potential to be great but decide to cheap out on wasabi? I can understand if its for those California/Philadelphia roll orders but on a premium chirashi? How unfortunate. read more

Every week for lunch, a coworker or I roll a dice to pick what is gonna be the restaurant we go to, and a few weeks ago, Hikari Sushi was what the dice decided on. We came here on a Thursday for lunch. This place took over the spot that Kamis Sushi used to be at in the plaza with Sprouts, Ace Hardware, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Chipotle. The layout of the restaurant was familiar from the previous restaurant but the decor was definitely cleaned up and brightened from the previous place. Service was quick and attentive. We both ordered lunch specials, his was a katsu bento w/ sashimi and mine was 9-piece nigiri with a roll. Fish tasted fresh and were solid, thick cuts of a large variety, overall, I thought it was a good price for a lunch special. I'd definitely return here to give a try of more of their menu for dinner. read more

I was looking for sushi around Diamond Bar and saw this new sushi restaurant nearby! I ordered the Garlic Chip Tuna Roll, Seared Cajun Salmon Roll & 20pc Sashimi for two people - had SOO much leftovers. The rolls are HUGE and taste wonderful. I love the flavor of the Cajun and how fresh the Tuna roll was. The Garlic Chip piece was the perfect crunch to the roll. Between the two of us, we couldn't even finish a roll, so we had plenty of leftovers. I highly recommend getting the Sashimi 20pc if you love sashimi- it's so worth it. The cuts are HUGE and there was 8 different types (if you include the krab salad). Our server was so sweet and accommodating. The ambiance was very chill and warm. Seriously can't believe I ate sushi two days in a row! What has come over me?! Haha their tuna was amazing and fresh and I avoid tuna since it always disappoints. Hope they continue to keep up the quality of fish as the months go on. My Alaska roll was buttery + savory and I enjoyed every bite. This place is really good. I will definitely go back to try other items. It used to be another sushi spot before and I'm glad they decided to open another. It did feel a little chaos when they were trying to seat everyone on busy night but figured it out after waiting 30 mins with no reservation. We ordered and got our order pretty quickly with good timing in between each entree. We ordered the 12 piece omakase, shrimp and veggie tempura, and Baja roll. Everything was amazing. We love sushi and okay to spend the money if the food is good, and this food was good. Spicy Garlic Edamame is probably the best weve had from any place. This was actually Spicy, garlic, and not sweet. The Edamame was made well. I had to stop myself from eating to save for the rolls. We usually get Sashimi or Nigeri but this place was very pricy for those (2 pieces for $18-$25) so we stuck with rolls. Cajun Salmon and Cajun Tuna were smokey seared fish, not really Spicy. Lemon Yellowtail was refreshing and tart. I limit my rice intake so I ordered the Energy roll and this was very good. The sauce added a little sweetness to the rolls. Fish were fresh. The rolls fell apart but each piece was very good. Service was great! All workers were very friendly. read more

So good. Everything tasted really fresh and clean. The sashimi bowl was my favorite -- thick cuts of fish, super buttery, and the uni and salmon roe were perfect. You can tell the quality is there. New spot opened last week, took over former Kami sushi location. Renovated the space - open airy vibes, got rid of the tvs and dark decor, definite upgrade. Menu covers everything from sashimi to cooked food so something for everyone. Ordered the chirashi... got a better-than-average cut of tuna, a piece of salmon belly which is a pleasant surprise, overall everything was fresh... but weirdly also got a stick of imitation crab? Like.. strange thing to get in a chirashi bowl and I felt like that cheapened the whole bowl but it's fine maybe some people are into it? lol. Oo almost forgot I also got a shrimp nigiri. Shrimp was normal but the fact that it came in nigiri form inside my chirashi was a little weird but maybe an aesthetic choice bc it looked cute for the photo? lol. But that was overshadowed by the discovery of the crab stick. lol overall though will come back and try more of the menu. Food and service both seem pretty solid and the ambiance is good. The problem is we live too close to them and their food is addicting! We have had the Oysters half shell, my favorite is Toro, the Salmon belly, Uni, fresh shrimp. I am not a roll fan but my kids are addicted to their rolls. Especially the Energy roll. Trust me. I am picky about my sushi and this place is my new favorite. Came here for lunch on a Sunday and got the lunch combo B, the black snapper nigiri, and the yellowtail belly nigiri. There weren't many people during this time so they weren't very busy and it was pretty quiet in there. The food took longer than expected to come out. Not sure why because there were 2 sushi chefs. However, the waitress was very attentive. The lunch combo was delicious and I appreciated that they put the salad dressing on the side. Initially I wanted to get the red snapper nigiri, but was told they were out of the red snapper. So I ended up getting the black snapper to try and it wasn't my favorite because it had a weird texture to it when I would chew on it. read more

We strolled through on a Tuesday for lunch, and was greeting enthusiastically by everyone there working. Very clean vibe, and the best sushi bar chairs ever. Myself 6'4" and girlfriend like a foot shorter, but we were able to adjust the seats at the sushi bar to our liking which was super neat. We didn't know what to order, the menu is vast, we decided to do a spinoff of a omakase lunch. Everything was phenomenal every one was very friendly and the only thing I would possibly change was the music. But I feel that way about most sushi restaurants. There is awesome decor that I personally could relate to from growing up like DragonBall Z & Gundam, hit while I would vote for MORE considering m in a fan. Went here the other night after work with my wife. I ordered the hot night roll and a California roll and my wife got the ramen. We both really enjoyed our meals. The sushi was fresh and the rolls stayed firmly together. We will definitely be coming back here and are excited to have another great sushi place in Diamond Bar!
