The food was very delicious, the fish was fresh, and my favorite was the salmon. I had a steamed fish egg dish, unsure of its name, but it was something I've never tried before, and it had a nice taste. The tempura was fresh, and their miso was very good. The staff is on top of things and very welcoming, and their decor matches the atmosphere of a sushi restaurant/bar.

Food is great. Ordered the nigiri sushi deluxe and it was fresh and oh so yummy. Our server was friendly and helpful. Went on a Wednesday evening around 7 and were seated right away. Ambiance is great. Family friendly

Delicious and fresh melts-in-your-mouth sushi! Everything tasted perfect and well balanced. I got the chirashi don and it came with salad and a miso soup. The rice was seasoned perfectly to balance out the freshness of the fish. Service was fast and thoughtful .

This place is deserving of five times five stars! Hands down the best, freshest, well made, delicious sushi I have ever had. We were lucky to have a fantastic chef who served us an omakase to die for. The flavor of each dish is unmatched. There wasn't a single thing I wouldn't order again. The fish menu is extensive and well worth the price. I definitely recommend sitting at the bar and letting one of the amazing chefs serve you their best stuff. Make sure to ask about their house made tofu -- it is unreal! Lots of tables inside and plenty of room at the bar. I can't wait to go back here again and again, worth the drive from San Diego!!

Haven't been here for a while but Omakase is really upgraded! Prompt attentive service. And nice cozy atmosphere. Wish their bottle cold Sake price is a little more down to earth ! Lol

This sushi place is definitely a hole in the wall that needs to be discovered. This might be the best sushi I've had in a while. I grew up in the Orange County and Los Angeles area and as we all know, they have pretty good sushi spots there. I recently moved into the inland Empire and thought that I was going to have to drive so far to get decent sushi until I discovered this little gem! My friend and I came here on a Friday night - there was no wait and the server, seated us immediately. We were tended to within the first five minutes and ordered. Between the two of us, we ordered the miso duck, beef tongue, baby lobster roll, and a few of their nigiri's! All the food was cooked to perfection and each slice of sushi melted in your mouth. The fish felt like butter. I was so impressed. I will definitely be back. If you're ever in the diamond bar area, I highly recommend coming to this restaurant to satisfy your sushi cravings. You will not be disappointed in anyway. Lastly, a huge shoutout to Hiromi - she was absolutely wonderful and so sweet. She always came back to make sure that my friend and I were tended to, and that our experience with nothing less than perfect. I appreciate the service here and it was definitely the cherry on top.

Usually when I'm craving Japanese this is my spot! Kyala is located in the Walmart plaza. There is easy access to parking and during peak time like dinner, there will be a wait. The restaurant is cozy with a few small tables and a sushi bar. I tend to stick to the two-item dinner combo. My picks are chicken teriyaki and tempura. The tempura comes with two shrimp and veggie tempura. They don't over batter their tempura which I like. I have order the sautéed white fish with miso and that was good also. The combination comes with miso soup, side salad, potatoes with mayo, and rice. Everything comes out fresh. They offer everything you want from sushi, salad, soba, donburi, rolls, Japanese curry and more. The service is good and everyone is super nice. Overall, a great Japanese place to try if you're in the area.

Overall we had a pleasant experience at Kyala! The duck miso appetizer was delicious and a must order. Under the slices of duck are slices of tofu and oyster mushrooms! The duck appetizer was a lot smaller than we thought but I think it's still worth a try. We ordered a variety of sashimi, from salmon, tuna to toro. I would say the fish quality was cold and fresh! The sashimi tasted above average but it wasn't something that knocked my socks off. The fish didn't have a fishy tasted or scent to it either which is a good sign! Our sashimi took a bit of time to come out which surprised me because it was slices of fish, nothing we were waiting on was cooked other than the duck appetizer which came early. I would definitely recommend calling in for reservations as they filled up really quickly at around 6:30 pm. The restaurant is small inside but it has a warm/homey feel to it. The servers were kind and attentive. I wouldn't say this restaurant is a must try but if you're in the area and looking for some decent sushi, I would recommend eating here!

Brought my mom here for a light dinner. She ordered the rainbow roll and miso soup that she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the happy hour sashimi sampler of black snapper, halibut and red snapper. Also had a piece of blue fin, salmon belly and Yellowtail that were good. For dessert I ate the blue crab hand roll which was tasty Got my dad a baked scallop roll to go which he finished with a smile. The servers are very friendly and attentive. Will come again next time I'm in the area for their lunch boxes which looked reasonably priced.

Another amazing meal this time it was for lunch and just let the chef choose the menu!!!! Such a treat finding such a gem. You won't be disappointed one bit if you're a true traditional sushi elite.

Kyala is my ultimate childhood spot, and I honestly don't understand how it could ever get less than 5 stars. It's a family-run business, and the owner, Morrison, is one of the chefs. His wife is also always there serving! She's so cute and sweet, really makes you feel at home. They're always smiling and never seems to take a break, making sure everyone is enjoying themselves. I've been coming here since I was literally a baby, and if I could, I'd still come every single week. The food is phenomenal--fish imported from Japan, not overpriced, fresh, and you can truly taste the quality. The presentation and attention to detail are unmatched, and it's clear the chefs are extremely passionate about what they do. The service is just as incredible. Yumi, who's been working there since I was a kid, somehow hasn't aged at all. It's like magic--maybe it's in the sushi. (Kidding... but not really.) Kyala is such a gem. The warm, welcoming vibe makes it clear why so many of us regulars keep coming back. The restaurant is small, which adds to the cozy ambiance, but I'd recommend making a reservation. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place--it's everything you'd want in a sushi spot and more.

    Chirashi
    James C.

Kayla has been a staple in Diamond Bar for years, and it never disappoints! The sushi is always fresh, and the service is great. I recently tried their Chirashi lunch special, and it's definitely worth it. They only serve 12 of them a day, so you have to come early to secure one. Along with the Chirashi, you get a salmon skin salad, miso soup, shrimp & vegetable tempura mix, and egg custard. The quality and variety of the meal are impressive, and for the $35 price, it's a steal.

Huge thank you to Yumi, who was an absolute angel and made us feel so welcome (like we were her grandchildren and wanted us to stay). The food was genuinely great quality and the portions were way more filling than expected. At first, I thought we hadn't ordered enough and i was mentally prepared to order more... but by the end, we were so full. Truly a lovely experience. They also give you complimentary edamame and cucumber salad, which was such a nice little bonus before the main event. One of my friends ordered the chirashi bowl and it looked like a bouquet of all kinds of fish. We also got the chef's assorted sashimi (amazing assortment) the ankimo special (SO good), and the 4 piece hand roll special (could probably skip this one and save stomach space). For nigiri, we ordered uni, toro, tai, and yellowtail (all amazing.) The uni was especially creamy and delicious. The salmon belly was mesmerizing, the yellowtail belly melts in your mouth and did I mention the ankimo? We also ordered a fish only tempura, and they even gave us our own tempura dipping sauce. It's the small details like that that really make a difference. 10/10, come hungry, leave very full and slightly emotionally attached.

That said, seeing cooked shrimp, surf clam, and octopus as a significant part of the lineup was a little underwhelming for the price point -- these tend to be more budget-friendly selections, and I was hoping for at least a couple of premium fish to round things out. On the bright side, the fish was sliced to a generous thickness, the sushi rice had a great texture -- well-seasoned and not overpacked -- and every piece was beautifully presented. I did request ice for my takeout order and it wasn't included, which was a minor disappointment. The restaurant itself is a standout. Spacious, modern, and well-designed without feeling crowded. The menu is impressively large -- sushi, sashimi, rolls, ramen, and more -- so there's genuinely something for everyone. It's on the pricier side compared to neighborhood sushi spots, but it's a solid choice for a group dinner where you want a nicer atmosphere over a quick meal.

Kamon Sushi - Rowland Heights…read more Kamon Sushi is one of the few Japanese restaurants that has managed to stand the test of time in the Rowland Heights area. I've watched the restaurant go through management changes over the years, but they've done a solid job maintaining a consistent mid-level quality while continuing to attract local customers. One of the biggest draws is still their business lunch pricing. The menu is extensive, covering sushi, bento boxes, kitchen dishes, and more recently, yakitori. My personal preference is their bento boxes. The two-item and three-item combinations, typically ranging from the mid-teens to low twenties, remain a dependable choice. Inflation has made them less of a bargain than they once were, but compared to similar Japanese restaurants in the area, they are still reasonably priced. Over time, Kamon has evolved into a more modern Japanese restaurant with a broad menu. The upside is variety. The downside is that I don't think they've found one category that truly stands above the rest yet. The yakitori is alright. The tempura is alright. The sushi is decent. The bento boxes are probably the strongest part of the menu. What consistently stands out is the service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which keeps me coming back. Kamon may not be the place for the best sushi, the best yakitori, or the best tempura in town. But if you're looking for a reliable neighborhood Japanese restaurant with a wide selection, fair pricing, and great service, it continues to be a solid choice.
