I love getting the sushi rolls here, so this is a really overdue review. The quality is always on point with freshness and presentation! My usual order is their mango tango roll, and honestly, it's the best mango salmon roll I've ever had. The buttery salmon and sweet mango just goes so well together~ I've tried mango salmon rolls at other restaurants when I'm out of the area, but I always end up wishing I was having the one at Koji instead :'-) If you like pickles, another favorite that I recommend is the oishi roll! read more

Service wasn't the fastest, but they were responsive and got things out as soon as I asked. There was only one waitress on duty, so that's totally fine. Restaurant is well-maintained and has a pretty relaxed ramen store atmosphere. I had the Black Yasai ramen, and the portion was very generous. The noodles held onto the broth well, and while they weren't as "snappy" as I would like, they were totally fine. The chashu was plentiful, though again, it was fairly unremarkable (good, but not mindblowing or anything). The half boiled egg was cooked well, and its marinade was apparent (mirin and soy sauce). The vegetables were nice and snappy, the cabbage especially was great at carrying the broth's flavor. The broth was rich, complex, and enjoyable. I wish the black garlic was more front and center though. Pretty good value for the money! If I had to give the ramen an overall score, it would be a mid-high seven (with five being the average and baseline for whether or not I would visit again). read more

Located down the street from Cal Poly Pomona, Koji Ramen was one of the very few Japanese restaurants I could find on the map within the area. I had ordered a pickup order during my work hours to eat their food. Parking is quite easy to get in and out of. While waiting for my order, I walked next door to get boba. By the time I was back, they had finished my order. The interior seems quite clean and well air conditioned. The cashier was quick to give me my order, too. I had ordered their California roll and chicken teriyaki rice bowls. I was quite surprised with their California roll because the avocado and imitation crab really melted together in my mouth. They also used proper sushi rice to make it, so that was nice. Their chicken teriyaki bowl was a typical bowl. The chicken had an immersive amount of teriyaki sauce thrown in the chicken and the rice. The salad wasn't bad either. But it was quite okay for the price of $12. I's like to come back some time because I am quite curious of how their ramen is. Next time, I will also dine in! Great California roll though! read more

The gyoza and miso soup were very tasty. The salad dressing was fantastic! The food is terrible! I've had thousands of bowls of ramen in my life, and frankly, I am offended by what Koji Ramen is serving. The Tonkotsu broth is a complete sham; any real enthusiast knows a proper broth requires boiling pork bones for 10-13 hours to achieve a natural, creamy emulsification, but it's obvious they are just adding powder to water to fake the color. I can instantly tell the difference between authentic bone broth and this thin, gritty substitute. The sides were just as disappointing, as the karaage was nothing more than basic, heavy-battered fried chicken instead of having that signature light and fluffy texture. The spicy tuna bowl was also terrible, and to top it all off, I developed a painful stomachache a few hours after eating here. This place is a total insult to ramen, save your money and your health. I was in the area yesterday to pick my daughter up from Cal Poly Pomona for spring break. Before we headed home we decided to stop by Koji Ramen for lunch. Between the three of us we ordered three bowls of ramen and one order of spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna was amazing. The tuna tasted fresh and the spice was right on point. So many places claim to have a spicy tuna roll that ends up not being spicy at all. Not true at Koji! The spicy tuna roll was perfectly spicy. We all loved our ramen as well. This place isn't fancy by any means. You order at a counter and they bring your food to your table, but it's just right for what it is. After yesterday's meal, I have a feeling this will become a regular stop for us. PS. If you go to Kojo, make sure to look at the feet on the chairs. I promise you will be amused. read more

I came on a Wednesday for lunch around 12 PM and it was not crowded at all. It's a small restaurant where you place and pay for your order up front and they'll bring the food to your table. There were a lot of parking spots available as the restaurant is located in a plaza. The service we received was great, the girl who helped us out was quick to bring out our orders and any condiments that we asked for. - Spicy Koji Ramen (5/5): The broth was super yummy and rich in flavor. Usually when I order ramen, I finish all the contents inside and leave some broth but when I was done with this one, there was not a single drop left. The broth was the STAR of the dish. - Jumbo Shrimp Roll (4.9/5): This roll was pretty good. I liked the big crunchy shrimp tempura in the center. The crab on top got a little bit messy but otherwise, also very tasty. - Alaska roll (5/5): First of all, the salmon was nice and fresh, so A+ so far. I loved how they added drops of lemon juice on top, killing any unwanted bacteria, but at the same time giving the sushi extra flavor. First time there. Wife had black yasai ramen soup which was really good. Wife was so into it. My son & I had 3 sushi rolls that wer delicious. I was craving a chxn bowl (don't know why), but it was so delicious. Teriyaki sauce was one of the best sauces I had & I loved the ginger dressing that was on my salad. It just hit the spot. They do have one restroom for women and one restroom for men. Thank you! We walked in to order for to-go. Not too busy at the time. Good space with interior seating. This the first time going to Koji Ramen. It's near Cal Poly Pomona. You have to order at the front and they bring the food out to you. We ordered a California roll and each of us had a Chicken Teriyaki bowl with rice and it included salad in the bowl. My friend ordered tap water which was free and I ordered a Coke Zero. Get this. The Koji ramen, yeah the thing that names this restaurant, get it. Being a ramen shop, you can tell that their pork broth has been simmering for hours and has a well-rounded cohesive flavor from all the meat and bones stewing. You get bits of pork when you're drinking the broth and that's a very good sign that its a well made bowl of ramen. Now pair that with the spicy seasonings, the variety of seafood (and you get a good amount), a soft-boiled egg, nappa and bean sprouts, and perfectly cooked ramen noodles, every bite is so good as you tour through the toppings you receive. Its whole and well sized mussels, scallops, and shrimps. It's similar to a Korean Jjamppong. There is a deep richness reflected in the color and viscosity of the broth. We also make it a point to get their sushi because its nice and clean and fresh! Love the little bit of lemon when we get a Rainbow Roll. All of it is good, and I like that they do not overcrowd the roll with too much rice. I don't know if it's because we come here often, but the staff always makes us feel well taken care of. The first person to fine early opening AM on a Saturday. Service was fast, clean bathroom, well circulation of air within. I ordered the butter ramen bowl and caterpillar roll. Both items were up to expectation and more. I would definitely return and order a more elaborate heavy hand toward the sushi/nigiri/temaki roll items . The noodles are thicker than normal (homemade we were told), and almost like a cross between a ramen and udon noodle. We really liked the chewiness of their noodles. We also got a side of fried squid and fried oyster. Oysters were tasty and perfectly fried. The squid was a little over done, but maybe because it was so close to closing(?) However, the chasu bowl isn't recommended. The taste is quite plain, and there are only two pieces of meat. Please note that you won't receive a full service restaurant as you will have to order from the cashier and they will bring out when it's finished. Have passed this place numerous times on my way to and from school not even knowing it was here. It's kind of hard to see when you're driving but once me and my partner saw it, we decided to stop by today after class. They have a fridge for drinks and once you decide what you'd like (includes if you're dining in) you go to order at the counter. The presentation wasn't the greatest, but honestly didn't even matter. The food spoke for itself! The noodles are pretty thick, but the broth is amazing. I got the Spicy Koji and my bf got the Tonkotsu (spicy) and I think I liked his more but mine was still really good! We also got an order of gyozas and OOF. The crispiness and side dipping sauce was delicious! Also I don't know how the tipping system works here. Obviously we tipped when we placed our order but since our server wasn't the same as the person who took our order, idk if he gets the tip for the kiosk tip. They had a tip jar for cash tips in front but I'm sure that gets split. Decided to leave a cash tip for our server on the table but honestly not too important.
