Love love love hikoamon! This is my go to rec I give for sushi in Louisville!! The staff is always attentive, food comes quickly, and it's always delicious. Favorite roll is the adda roll. Ample parking because it's in Westport village shopping center.

For the area and region is good value for the buck, sashimi salmon had more tendons than I've had but again, it's still relatively tasty. Servers are attentive and place is dim lit with some notes of modern decor. I enjoyed comparing it to Midwest sushi restaurants.

Well... I was just told that what I wanted to order for my daughter and I was too expensive and I repeatedly told the lady I can afford what I want to order and she insisted I order other stuff instead. For a first visit this is heartbreaking. I had a whole list of stuff picked for us to try. I don't care what the cost is. I came knowing I was about to blow over $250. So... this feeling sucks ass and is not cool. I just can't... I'm not sure why anyone would think it's cool to do this to anyone. It was so humiliating with all these people staring. *which lead us out the door and to Osteria Italian Seafood across the plaza. Well worth it, epic service food and most of all the compassion shown to us even though I walked in the place crying my eyes out and hangry. We had an excellent time. So thank you for making me cry so I could Hiko-my-ass to some place else.

OMG! What a lovely surprise to find this wonderful place. Located in a small mall hidden from the street by full grown trees, I almost missed the area due to the restaurant being in the mall's inner sanctum. It's near the Jade Palace which is my next stop tomorrrow.... When I arrived, it was full of people but the sushi bar was very empty. There were many seats and very roomy. You don't feel like you're packed in like a lot of other places. Service was efficient and quick. The food is excellent! I found my favorite, Age dashi tofu, served in a different way. Almost like a stew! Delicious! The chef's sashimi was wonderful as well with big pieces. There is also a full bar but I didn't partake. Maybe next time.

I love this place. It has been a solid 5 star restaurant since it came to Lyndon 16 years ago. The tuna tataki has always been a favorite of mine. The crunch munch and westport roll are also fantastic. Honestly, the tuna tataki I just inhaled was so good, I proposed to the Sushi chef.

We had a great experience here! We had a larger group and we got to sit off to the side in a sunken table, which I've always ogled at every time I'm at a Japanese restaurant. This place was highly recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. I started with the typical Japanese restaurant salad with that addictive ginger dressing. Seriously I could drink that out of a straw. It took me a really really long time and long look at the menu to decide on my entree. I landed on the tonkatsu. It was good, not life changing, but still good! The sauce it came with was pretty tasty as well. I've heard the sushi here is delicious, so when I have some more disposable income freed up I can't wait to work my way through the sushi menu! Overall, really good experience. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for a larger group. They took really good care of us and saw to it that our experience was great.

I have been here many times - I always leave full and satisfied! Our server was quick and well organized despite our larger party. The food came out promptly and all together so we didn't have that awkward moment where one person had to watch the rest of eat. This is my go-to sushi place in town!

This was my first visit to hiko-a-mon & I had such a lovely time! A friend of mine highly recommended this spot & made reservations for the whole group. Since we were a larger group they sat us in a semi-private area with a large table. I had the miso soup which is always a great place to start. I tried scallops for the first time & found out I love scallops! I also tried the Las Vegas roll & it was incredible too! Parking was a breeze. Our waitress was very nice. I definitely will be back!

Hiko-a-mon is a decent place to go for Japanese food. I got the Las Vegas roll and zaru soba. The Las Vegas roll was very good. I don't like raw fish so I usually order deep fried rolls and the Las Vegas roll was a great one. The zaru soba was decent. The dipping sauce was salty and the portion a little small for my taste, but otherwise very solid. The environment is stellar. It's got a cozy and dim ambience, and there's even a section where you can sit in the ground around a low table. It's a nice place that's well put together with a very friendly and responsive staff. I was in a group but had to leave early and our server attended to that need perfectly, bringing out my food and check earlier. All in all, Hiko-a-mon is a great environment with a good option for Japanese food, but maybe not your best bet if you like bigger portions and less salty food.

Sushi enthusiasts, you no longer have to search for the best sushi spot in town, hiko-A-mon is by far the best in my opinion. Offering a wide variety of foods you can order, from rice and noodles to raw and cooked fish. If you love sashimi or nigiri order a platter, they come out beautiful and reasonably priced! Everything that I have tried is amazing so you can't go wrong with anything you order. The service is great, very patient if you don't exactly know what you want. I would recommend getting the Red Snapper Carpaccio as an appetizer and the sashimi or nigiri special. Love this place! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for Japanese cuisine.

Pan seared duck was the best duck I've ever had. Bento box was delicious and different with other places. Red snapper for appetizer had a tasty zesty sauce that it made it so unique. We also ordered 2 sushi rolls, they were ok. They had good selection of sushi rolls. Our server was so much knowledgeable, very polite, nice, and helpful. Atmosphere was good, they had a cool fish tank! Walls were interesting. Our favourite was fish tank.

Service is always good, the ambiance is a bit bland. And frankly, none of these extraneous considerations matter to me! When I go out for sushi, I just want it to be plentiful and delicious. For reasons I have yet to contemplate and unpack, I don't really look at ordering sushi as a fine-dining experience where the service and the venue and the decor and the menu diversity all factor in much. To me, either your sushi rolls are top-notch or they're not. And by this rubric, Oishii is unrivaled in Louisville, KY. One can argue that Sapporo's happy hour is a better value, or that the Dragon King's Daughter's bento box is the best bang for your buck sushi lunch. But no one can accurately claim to have better sushi than Oishii. Here are my ratings for rolls I have tried: Koi 9 Highlander 8.5 Hot 8.5 Aloha 8 Crazy Eel 8 Zen 8 2in1 7.5 Hawaiian 7.5 Volcano 7 Lieutenant 7 Big Daddy 7 Sunset 7 Derby 6 Spicy Tuna 6 Spicy Salmon 5 I also appreciate that Oishii isn't stingy with their pickled ginger. They're not the cheapest spot in town, but when one considers that their rolls are generously-sized, they're not unreasonably-priced at all. Highly recommended!

As always, the dinner entertainment is quite enjoyable with the large, hot fire, egg juggling, and onion-ring choo-choo train. The food was prepared quite nicely, and the chef was very light with the seasonings. The chefs under the previous management were quite heavy with the seasonings and I always had to tell them ..."light on the teriyaki". On this visit, that was not the case and I appreciated the difference. The hibachi dining experience is usually always a nice one. While it is quite generic, it is enjoyable. We will return.

Let me start with the food because it was absolutely outstanding. I ordered the steak and chicken hibachi with fried rice, and it also came with two shrimp as an appetizer, plus the ginger salad and soup. I'm not even a soup person, but that soup was SO good. And the ginger dressing on the salad? Honestly to die for. The portions were huge too--I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. We also ordered calamari as an appetizer. The portion size was great and the calamari itself was nice and meaty, but the breading wasn't my favorite. It could've been a lot better in terms of flavor and texture. As for the hibachi experience itself, this is where it fell a little short. Since we were the last table of the night, the chef didn't really do many tricks or interact much. I was expecting more of that classic entertaining hibachi show, but it felt a bit rushed--understandable given the timing, but still a little disappointing. Also, since we were there for a birthday, I was hoping for at least a small acknowledgment (a song, dessert, something), but they didn't do anything for it.
