Sushi was awesome. Service was good, and the restaurant was clean. We went for lunch and they were super busy (good sign). Will come back for sure.

We dined at Oishii Sushi - it's somewhere I've always wanted to try but never got around to it. It's usually pretty crowded. We ended up stopping by on a Saturday night but came in past dinner hour around 7:30 so we were seated immediately. The menu is more extensive than I thought it would be and includes simple sushi rolls, speciality rolls, teriyaki plates, etc. We ordered a California roll, crunch munch roll, and rainbow roll and the teriyaki chicken plate with fried rice and vegetables. The sushi only took about 20 minutes and the portions were big. The sushi was fresh and there was a large portion of ginger and wasabi. The chicken dish was okay - I wouldn't recommend upgrading to the fried rice. It didn't taste like hibachi rice and wasn't worth the added price.

Yummy japanese food here! We started with vegetable tempura and chicken yakitori which were fantastic. For entrees we had chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, ton katsu, and chicken yakisoba. All were amazing except the yakisoba (which is traditional a pan fried noodle dish, here i could tell the noodles were not fried and they did not use enough soy sauce while cooking). The service was a bit slow, but the restaurant itself was clean and well decorated. Overall I would come back for anything except the yakisoba, as the rest was truly delicious.

I visited Oishii Sushi for a lunch date and it was a great option for lunch. They really came to our table right away, took our drink order and were very effective and efficient on getting our order in and to our table. I tried the calamari and Oishii Fried Roll. Let's start with the calamari. Very interesting as I have never had calamari in long strips, only circles. It was fine, I go back-and-forth with if I would buy it again. Their sushi is very big. Where are you? Have to take multiple bites for just one piece. The sushi with overall was good and I would definitely order again from this location.

This sushi restaurant is one of the best in Louisville KY. They always deliver on big flavor and more sushi meat that you would think you needed on a roll. Their food is fresh and always creative. I've followed them from their original to me restaurant near Sullivan University to the location across from Bowman Field and their recent expansion. Their servers provide great service and are very attentive. Since their expansion they now have ample room for their many guests.

Well... I was yelled at for trying to order sushi... I gave the waitress my order- they didn't have anything I wanted so I asked if I gave her the ingredients for a roll could they make it. She said yes. Gave her the inside ingredients and for the outside. I know how this works... some lady comes from the kitchen and starts screaming at me the restaurant is silent and I'm so embarrassed... so yeah we have left the building. Waitress was really nice though. I can't even.

Oishii is my favorite sushi spot in Louisville. They're rolls are huge, the staff is so friendly, it is super quick. I tell people all the time to go here! My go to roll is the spicy mary but I've never had a roll I didn't like.

Very casual atmosphere but really good sushi. We tried a number of rolls and were happy with them all. Reasonably priced. The rolls are big just fyi.

This is our favorite place for sushi and other foods on menu in Lousville. Haven't had any other restaurants that meet or exceed Quality and service. We took My 11 year old for his birthday. We all Loved the food and preparation. Place is always busy which is a great sign. Look at pictures and you be the judge.

Great portions for the price but not what I would consider an upscale sushi restaurant-- which is fine! I would come back again for takeout. The sushi rolls are very tasty and loaded up with toppings! My only complaint is that I prefer "one bite" sushi pieces. Its a little impractical to try to take two or more, but I can appreciate the amount of food they provide! The tables are a bit close to one another so it's not as private as I may want for a date night. That said, the service is quick. The sushi came out fast after we ordered, but I didn't love the method of writing my own order on the paper. It was also a bit confusing because it seemed like the paper for ordering had different items than one I saw on the physical menus.

Fresh and unique sushi. Clean restaurant but not that much 'atmosphere.' Live getting sushi to go from here.

Do you need or recommend getting a reservation or is it okay to just show up (is it typical to have long waits to get seated)?

Every time I'v gone I've just shown up but calling ahead any we're never hurts on a Friday Saturday night!

Are there any lunch deals, specifically on Fridays?

I don't know of them running specific specials. They don't open until 5:30pm, so it's not a lunch spot. It's strictly a dinner restaurant.

As always, the dinner entertainment is quite enjoyable with the large, hot fire, egg juggling, and onion-ring choo-choo train. The food was prepared quite nicely, and the chef was very light with the seasonings. The chefs under the previous management were quite heavy with the seasonings and I always had to tell them ..."light on the teriyaki". On this visit, that was not the case and I appreciated the difference. The hibachi dining experience is usually always a nice one. While it is quite generic, it is enjoyable. We will return.

Let me start with the food because it was absolutely outstanding. I ordered the steak and chicken hibachi with fried rice, and it also came with two shrimp as an appetizer, plus the ginger salad and soup. I'm not even a soup person, but that soup was SO good. And the ginger dressing on the salad? Honestly to die for. The portions were huge too--I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. We also ordered calamari as an appetizer. The portion size was great and the calamari itself was nice and meaty, but the breading wasn't my favorite. It could've been a lot better in terms of flavor and texture. As for the hibachi experience itself, this is where it fell a little short. Since we were the last table of the night, the chef didn't really do many tricks or interact much. I was expecting more of that classic entertaining hibachi show, but it felt a bit rushed--understandable given the timing, but still a little disappointing. Also, since we were there for a birthday, I was hoping for at least a small acknowledgment (a song, dessert, something), but they didn't do anything for it.

I made the reservation and attempted to dress up accordingly because it felt warranted. I was disappointed that we were sat right next to the open door on a rainy evening so every effort I'd made was quickly ruined, and halfway into our meal it was uncomfortably cold. We couldn't see anything except the host stand and a handful of other tables. I'm hoping the rest of the interior is nicer than what we were exposed to. Our server informed us that it was her first night on the floor, but had she kept that a secret, I don't think I would've known. She seemed knowledgeable and was attentive without being overbearing. The food itself was very good. My teenage son was excited to try an omakase style meal and was impressed by everything he was given. The 'Sashimi Set' that I had was as expected and everything tasted fresh. The fatty tuna was the favorite by far. I honestly don't know if I would return, there's a lot of fantastic sushi restaurants in the city.

I arrived late afternoon, coming from the salon across the street, and I was the only person in the restaurant. I really have to reiterate how kind everyone was!
