Enjoyable dining experience. We were seated as soon as we entered the restaurant, and the server was attentive throughout our visit (quick to take drink orders, food order, and checked on us several times). The atmosphere is very relaxed, with the lights down low. Our food came out fresh and hot and fairly soon after ordering. Definitely worth a return visit.

So bummed. We love this place! Paid extra for double veggie and no rice. Also sushi was completely frozen

Chicken Teriyaki

Freaking ridiculous to spend $16 on chicken teriyaki when there's hardly any chicken. If I only wanted fried rice- I'd ask for just that. Waste of time and $ from a pile of garbage establishment. Good luck with your take out orders. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I love this place. Before discovering Rikishi, I would drive all the way to Louisville whenever I was in the mood for Japanese food. However, I now prefer Rikishi to a lot of the places in Louisville. The food is delicious and always looks and tastes fresh (I love the presentation). The employees are friendly and the service is generally quick. The decor is nothing fancy, but it's cute and gets the point across. My favorites here are the teriyaki chicken meal and the tempura vegetables. One thing I like about Rikishi is that the vegetables that come with the hibachi style dinners are better vegetables than what I get at most hibachi restaurants. Here I can expect asparagus, a decent amount of broccoli, carrots, etc. versus the meh vegetables I've come to expect at a lot of other places. I also feel like the food gets overcooked at a lot of other places, but here it is exactly to my liking.

Nothing left!

Excellent sushi, quick and professional service. I recommend the Cooper 2 roll but all that I've tried are winners.

While visiting Louisville for a class reunion, a group of us wanted to go out for a nice dinner…read more One of them suggested Malones. At first I wasn't sure what to expect as there are two establishments at one location. I was very pleasantly surprised walking into Malone's. The interior is darker and reminiscent of a New York steakhouse with the booths, decor and lighting. Unable to decide what to order, I opted for the filet and crab rangoon roll which was an excellent choice. The steak. cooked to perfection, was tender and juicy. The crab rangoon roll was a crab and cream cheese blend wrapped in seaweed and deep fried. It was out of this world. Our waiter and his assistant provided exemplary service making it the perfect evening. If my travels bring me back to Kentucky, I will definitely seek them out.

We've been eating at Malone's for many many years. Made special trips to Lexington regularly…read morebefore the Louisville location opened and have since eat at the Louisville location dozens of times. I've had some really good meals here and I've had some really bad meals here. As of the last year or so, the meals are more often bad than not. Especially once you factor in the price tag. I will say, our last several visits have been on a Sunday afternoon; not sure if that plays a factor in our experience or not. The some beach cocktail was awful and tasted like straight cheap coconut rum (I've had it before and it was quite good). The tempura vegetables chef feature appetizer was missing the sweet potatoes and pickled carrots advertised, the tempura breading didn't stick to the vegetables hardly at all, the broccoli pieces were so large they had to be cut up before they could be eaten, and the lotus root was way too thick. The server was oblivious about the chef's features. Made comment about it several times and was confused when I ordered some of the chef's features. If it's new, I get it, but would recommend he take a few minutes to familiarize himself. The seared spinalis I ordered cooked medium came out well done, end pieces were burnt to a crisp and tough. My wife ordered a well done New York strip that came out medium at best and the whipped potatoes were SWIMMING in butter. The potatoes may be as the Chef wanted them to be, I'm not sure, but if so, I don't know why anyone would want this. By the time you stir in all that extra butter you have very thin greasy potatoes bordering on potato soup. The server did offer to re-fire my steak and have my wife's cooked more to which we declined. I'm not a fan of doing that, especially cooking a stake more the second time because the outside becomes too done/burnt and the inside becomes dry. At this price point, she should have been offered a fresh steak in my opinion. The manager came by later and offered again, to which my Wife gave in and let her have it brought up to temp. To no one's surprise, it came back with the outside burnt to a crisp and the rest dry and tough (Even more so than well done already is. I recognize that well done steaks are tough/dry in general but she has been eating them here for years and brags about how they still manage to get it tender and juicy from her perspective). She also made mention that the herbed butter that comes with the bread wasn't very flavorful and nowhere near as good as normal and that we should have taken that as a sign. The server ended up comping my steak, which I appreciate. In all fairness, they made an effort to make it right. I feel like they could have done a bit more, especially with her steak but I'm not really upset about the service/response. It's just that the last several visits have been very sub par for the price point and from the quality I know Malones is capable of providing.

The others around us appreciated it, as well. We were greeted with an anniversary card and complimentary champagne for a toast - a very nice touch. We ordered a mimosa and red sangria from the brunch cocktail menu - $8 each. Wife enjoyed the mimosa and the sangria was a generous pour and very tasty. Then they brought out a basket of fried biscuits with cinnamon butter - outstanding! For our entrees, she had the Lobster Avocado Toast, which came with two large slices topped with avocado, sunny-side up eggs and massive chunks of lobster served with a side of roasted, parmesan crusted tomatoes, and I ordered the Crispy Chicken & Waffle, Nashville Hot style, which also came with thick-cut bacon. Both dishes were magnificent! I cleaned my plate and she could only finish one of the pieces of toast, so we boxed up the other. Finally, we unexpectedly received a large slice of chocolate cake as a complimentary dessert. We were so full we had it boxed up to take with us. The staff really went above and beyond, and the food and beverages were outstanding. All of this for less than $60, plus tip. Could not have been a better experience. Don't sleep on this place!

When we walked in there were about 4 hostesses standing behind the counter. When we asked if they would be able to seat us they looked us over. The one hostess we were talking to kind of laughed and another hostess walked over to the first one, whispered something in her ear. Then the first one said they couldn't seat us. My daughter asked how long the wait was. The hostess paused and finally said about 30 minutes. We left because the vibe they were giving us was that they didn't want to seat us which I didn't understand. We were well dressed so I couldn't imagine it was our attire, but that was the vibe they were giving us. When we left, I told my kids it must be because we didn't have a reservation. I was trying to the hostesses the benefit of the doubt. My daughter got online and made a reservation for 30 minutes out, as we all decided we really wanted to try Stoney River. We walked back in 5 minutes before our reservation. Now there were about 5 hostesses behind the counter. I could tell from their faces that they recognized us and a couple of them were whispering again. I walked up to the counter and gave them our reservation information and they said ok. While we were eating we saw them walking by the kitchen looking at us again. This was not a look as if they were checking on us. Our server was nice and did a good job. The food and wine were fine but I have to say the experience with the hostesses really ruined the experience that I couldn't even focus on the food. Unfortunately, we won't be back. It was the oddest experience I've ever had at a restaurant.
