After a series of emails and phone in or around August 2012 I eventually met with the owner, Lisa Troyer. I explained in quite some detail that I had a severe fall in 1994 that has played havoc with my neck for all these years, despite bi-monthly 90 massage sessions. I also explained that I had a "failed lower back" surgery in October 2004 and that the "Surgeon" failed to complete the 7 plus hour surgery with a bone graph around the rods and screws and therefore the area was quite tender and extremely subject to pain. I agreed to sign up with Ms. Troyer for a one year "Wellness Plan". I agreed to one massage of 60 minutes once per month for one year beginning on September 19, 2012. I actually went bi-monthly for 90 minute sessions, specifically requesting Swedish or similar massages. I always tipped her 15% (despite being the owner). In November 2012 I had a total left knee replacement and only went one time. I started back in December on bi-monthly 90 minute sessions. Sometime in February of 2013 Lisa decided either due to injury or laziness to use "trigger point" massages on my very tender neck and low back. I was in more pain than I can describe in this essay for nearly a month. I had requested she not use this "therapy" because of the condition I described above. After the second time I requested another massage therapist. From four therapist when I began my "Wellness Plan" there was now Lisa and a part time therapist who works every Friday or every other Friday afternoon for about five or six hours. Hilliard Massage double booked me with another patient for a 2:30 appointment in June. I was livid. There was no one else at the salon so I left. I found the best massage therapist I have ever had since I began this service in the mid 90s within a few blocks of Hilliard Massage & Day Spa LLC. I have been back a total of five times and look forward to my every other Friday 2:30 appointment. After arriving home I emailed the office manager to ask if it would be a problem to cancel the last three months of my contract in as much as I had already completed 18 or so 90 minute massages since September 2012. Without even a phone call or a reply to many emails, they charged my Visa card for a $150.00 cancellation fee. I never said I was cancelling, I asked would it be a problem since I had exceeded the twelve visits by a more than half and did 90 minute massages instead of the minimum of 60 minutes. I had to visit 5/3 Bank to fight this unauthorized cancellation fee. Four phone calls and at least four emails without as much as a go to he**! Finally the office manager picked up and spoke with the manager at 5/3 and with me. NO appointments were available for the rest of June, none in July, so I was forced into three August appointments with the part time lady. I cannot recommend enough that you avoid this house of horrors! While preaching non stop about Jesus this and Jesus that, Ms. Troyer's business practices are anything but Christian like. Instead of doing the right thing, she forced me into additional and inconvenient treatments with a part time therapist that all had to be scheduled in August 2013. I have yet to fully recover from the painful "trigger point" massages she did to me in the winter. Trigger point might work well with healthy people with no botched surgeries or lingering affects of a nasty fall that damaged their neck, but despite telling her in plain English that this was beyond painful, she did it again. I have filed a complaint with the State Of Ohio board that oversees Massage Therapists. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS EVEN TO A PERSON I DID NOT PARTIULARLY LIKE. Lilly's Massage on Cemetary Road is a fantastic oriental centered Massage Therapy business that is an ELEVEN on a scale of ONE to TEN. You receive the kind of massage you pay for and expect, feeling like a million dollars when you leave. It is slightly more expensive, but after TEN massages, the next one is FREE. It all evens out with the rates charged by Hilliard Massage & Day Spa LLC. Avoid Hilliard Massage & Day Spa at all costs. Don't say you were not warned that the business practices and the quality of the massages are horrible! read more
