Great family run operation. We are all so fortunate to have them in the community. They kept Santee in eggs during COVID when no one else could. The are also huge supporters of youth in agriculture. Bad egg farm. Not sure why anyone would buy eggs from this cage farm. These chickens are not free range and are cooped up and packed in a large chicken coop. They store a large pile of chicken manure right in front of the coop. The entire neighborhood smells of rancid eggs and poop. The poor chickens are packed in like sardines probably stressed out. To the owners clean up the poop and remove it off site!!! Why are you guys allowing the community to smell terrible and ruining the environment? Have some courtesy and respect for the community. The area is no longer farming and its majority residential homes. No decency or respect for all the home owners. Please folks don't buy from this farm who doesn't care about their chickens let alone the community of home owners. They spitefully let the manure stink up the air quality just for the hell of it. This egg farm is trash!!! Why would anyone want to eat eggs from chickens who are caged and in a state of stress all day. Also this inconsiderate owner is garbage. The family always I mean always keeps a large mountain of chicken manure onsite and right next to the chickens to breathe poor air quality!! They are bad farmers and worse community members. They actually get joy from making the entire neighborhood smell like rotten chicken eggs and manure. Why are you people so inconsiderate? Once in a blue moon they cover the giant mountain of chicken shit with a blue tarp. It helps tremendously keeping the smell and flys from ruining the neighborhood but of course they uncover it every chance they get and let that sweet aroma of chicken shit stink up the entire neighborhood. The entire neighborhood has changed!! It is no longer farm land and it is now predominantly residential property. Get with the times. You might have been here long before the homes but now you are the last of your kind. It's time to change and take into consideration the people who live next to your stink farm. The community isn't asking you to leave we are asking for you to either always cover the chicken shit with the tarp 100% of the time or remove all the chicken shit off site which I know you won't do for whatever reason. the place always stinks. the smell is rancid coming from the farm. New houses were put in and the smell has gotten worse. The worst part is hillikers knew it would make it worse and then when a lakeside committee got together hillikers originally fought against the development. then a backdoor meeting happened with hillikers and the developer and then hillikers changed their mind and retracted all the bad stuff they said about the new development. Great experience I was told by my coworker that the eggs were good and that they have milk and jams too. I went after work since it was only 15 mins away it was a quick process when I pulled up there were already people parked in the roundabout then when they left we were motioned to park and go in. I grabbed two dozen jumbo eggs blood orange marmalade and 50/50 bar milk. They take cash and card and they also have honey and jerky for dog I think. The price was great comparative to the grocery store, I went home and tried theilk with my wife we loved it and the marmalade with sourdough toast exceptional. **May 2023: Monday Morning Visit** Honestly, when I'm at home I buy the cheapest eggs at the grocery store; however, since I was staying nearby I thought I'd support small and purchase some fancy eggs. My friend and I drove up on a late weekday morning and were the only patrons there. You'll go through a dirt road and see some milk cows before seeing the little stall to grab your goods. This family owned farm has been operating since 1942 and houses over 30,000 hens! The area definitely smells like it, but that means it's a working farm! They sells Medium, Large, and Jumbo eggs (both white and brown). I bought a dozen brown eggs for $4.50. I can confirm the yolks are orange. I'd be open to come back and patron them on my next visit to Lakeside! read more

We had the absolute worst experience at Hilliker this morning. I have been coming here to get eggs for the longest time and today my husband must've parked in the wrong section and an older gentleman with glasses on screamed at him because he parked in the wrong spot then he goes inside, the older gentleman goes inside and says something to the ladies that were working inside the store, and they all stopped what they were doing, and looked over at my husband, still having a positive attitude not a single person acknowledged him when he went to leave. He said God bless you and still nobody spoke to him. I don't know what happened to you guys this morning, but this was absolutely insane and one of the worst experiences I've had in a long time . My neighbor came over because he's going on vacation. He brought over some eggs and I thought oh great eggs. I didn't recognize the name however, when they were finally cooked, they were delicious! We drive 25 minutes for theses eggs every other week, they're amazing! I'll NEVER purchase eggs from a grocery store again. Super rich yolks and variations of sizes. Seeing the animals is a super bonus. My daughter and I LOVE and look forward to going for eggs. I grew up eating fresh eggs.... You really don't realize the difference after eating store-bought eggs for years and years and years until you go back to fresh; wow! Did I mention they're cheaper than the store?! I love the eggs, and the customer service is great. I usually come early in the morning and is usually not crowded. I usually get the brown flat eggs, and the white 12 dozen. The only bad thing is that you cannot take more than just 2 boxes but is understanding due to the demand of clients they get. The prices are reasonable, and the taste is just great. read more

No egg shortage here!! Turn in the driveway where the chicken sign is - noticed they are closed 1130-1230 for lunch. The road down is narrow- share the lane with people exiting. No marked parking spaces, you pull to the side close to the building. I was in and out with 2 flats of eggs in less than 5 minutes. 20 Xl brown eggs $9, 20 lrg white $8. Excellent customer service! Had I not gotten direction before coming, I might have gotten nervous turning on the road by myself O_O it's a farm, so it smells but I'm definitely coming back! read more

customer service here is non existent. I pick up eggs here once a week, last week they were giving me more eggs that I was being billed for. I pointed that out and one of the owners said it was their mistake and then blew up on me as if it was my fault. thinking this was an isolated inciden, I went back this week for 45 dozen... the same guy came to the entrance and literally got in my face about last week. then called me a "tough guy" this is absolutely no way to treat people that are there to buy your product! I guess they don't need the sales, there are other egg farms in town. Wow, what a way to start my Christmas Eve morning. We are having an egg casserole for Christmas morning. I have been in the habit of getting my eggs at Hilliker's ; especially on special occasions. This morning, this has all changed. I doubt I will ever patronize their business again. I'd heard that egg ranches are having trouble keeping stock of eggs due to a shortage in the local stores so I phoned the ranch to inquire on how they were doing with their stock. I didn't want to drive out there for nothing. The guy who answered the phone was hella rude! He answered the phone by saying, Hilliker's Ranch; we are open today, 8-5pm; is there anything else I can get for you? I started off my call with a "Merry Christmas", and asked about his supply of eggs. He spouted off in an agitated hostile tone, "I just said we are open from 8am to 5. We wouldn't be open if we didn't have eggs." I was not expecting to be treated in this manner. I was pissed. I told him he could keep his eggs! Luckily there are a couple other egg ranches in the San Diego area; I will be getting my eggs from there . . . probably from now on. This is not the first time the men at Hilliker's have been rude to me, so I figure it's time others should know. The only one there who is good on the phone is the female who seems to be the office manager there; she's never been rude to me and is very helpful. I guess the couple males that work there figure their chicken egg crap doesn't stink, and they can treat customers any old kind of way due to their popularity in east county. But not this chick. The eggs are excellent and the prices are very affordable. The place though is unkempt and smells. The service is also a bit brusque. The traffic flow is awful as people park without consideration for other clients and you can get trapped. If you are going for the first time don't go over the weekend, stand back so you can read the options when you're there, go up and get what you want. There's no looking around the place to figure out if something else catches your fancy. I love the quality of eggs and I'm in and out in 5 minutes. The rest I can ignore. read more

I have been coming here for 5+ years. Usually buy 5 flats of eggs, previously satisfied. Today again traveled 15iles to pick up some eggs. I was told I could only buy 1 flat. When I protested, counter lady said "You can buy 1 or zero". As a customer I felt unappreciated, so I said "ok, it is zero'" and walked out. As I turned around, I heard her say to co-worker, "See how quickly I got rid of them". I love fresh eggs. Hilliker's Fresh Eggs has been around seemingly forever, and lucky for me they are not far from my house. I will not buy eggs from anywhere else. I have a couple of friends who have chickens and they'll give me eggs on occasion, but no grocery store eggs for me. The difference in flavor and cookability is remarkable. Hilliker's has white and brown eggs, medium, large and jumbo. I stopped in for a flat of 20 jumbo brown for $5.50. Excellent eggs at excellent prices. Be warned. If you go to Hilliker's for eggs or get Hilliker's eggs at one of the local stores that sells them, you will never go back to boring grocery store eggs. read more

I usually come here to get chicken but I decided to pick up eggs as well. Everyone here is usually friendly but this old lady (probably oldest one there) was super rude. I asked what color eggs they have mind you I didn't bother looking and also was trying to spark a nice conversation. her response was well what do you think? Cool whatever I get it that was a dumb question. Anyways I asked for a dozen eggs and it was basically almost tossed at me. Handed her the money and her body language was like she was disgusted by my presence. I want to assume she is racist because people(white) before me seemed treated fairly. My skin color is pretty dark or maybe I'm just ugly? I don't know still doesn't give her a reason to treat me the way she did. Still going there for chicken.
