WARNING: do NOT try to bring your QR returns here, they cannot process QR code returns. you have to have a printed and affixed label, even if you received guidance to just bring the package and the QR code to this location (as I did). You will be turned away (the person behind me simply left) or have to pay $3 for them to print your shipping label. Hope you brought cash! There's a $6 credit minimum. I'll happily change my review if this business takes the very basic step of entering the 21st century and adds what is now a baseline expectation of a shipping business, the ability to process QR code for affiliated returns. Disappointing, I would ordinarily want to support a local independent business but you have to do the bare minimum to keep up with the times. read more

The owner wanted to charge me over $1000 for items that the UPS store on Redwood shipped for less than $300. He did this by exaggerating the number of boxes the items would require and by wildly over-charging for materials. When I went back to tell him that the UPS store (at the location he used to occupy) had beaten his price by a factor of 4, he offered to price match! Shameless! And while I waited in line to be treated like a sucker, I had to watch his son/assistant look for an endless list of menial tasks to do in order to avoid helping the store customers (me). I dropped off a FedEx delivery that needed boxing. I told them the sender had an account to charge it to. They took the item and boxed it and charged me nearly $10 to box it. I asked them to charge it to the sender and they said they couldn't that I had to pay them. They never said they were going to charge me until the thing was all wrapped up. This is a family-owned business and everyone is friendly, conscientious, and customer-centered. We get everything shipped here, and with all the porch pirates going around, this is the way to go. They normally have plenty of parking and are located off the main street so super convenient, and I've never had anything but great service from them. Attentive when picking up boxes or mail, happy to make a spare key when I need, and able to assist with other requests like purchasing shipping supplies (boxes, tape, etc...). Honestly am shocked to see the negative reviews because I've only had positive experiences here. read more

Excellent. Handle everything with attention to detail, easy to deal with. I have rented mail-boxes from many companies in many different places, and this is by far the best. My mail always ends up in my box and not someone else's--sounds like a low bar, but that has never been true of any other place. If I don't pick up my mail for months, it's held for me, no problem. I have a mailbox with Hills Copy and Mail Center and I have been traveling from one Airbnb to another for work during this Covid pandemic. They have cheerfully forwarded and shipped my mail to me at my various stays throughout the US. The owners are helpful, always kind and I know my mail is in good hands. They perform many services, have been notaries for documents, packaged and mailed items for me, faxed things and all while asking how they can best help me. At first I was unhappy that this company had to move from 4100 Redwood Rd. in Oakland to 4400 Keller Ave. also in Oakland. But since visiting the new location I find it is far more convenient, aside from the extra five minute drive, because the handicapped parking space which I need is directly in front of the front door at the lower level where the parking lot is. Also, service by the owner & her son/family is SUPERIOR to any of the other private mail box companies I have researched. I had to drop off a package for a return and this was the closest FedEx shipping center to me. When I got there, there was plenty of parking and there was no line. All I had to do was hand the package to one of the employees and then I was all set! I was in and out in less than a minute. read more

I've been wanting to write a review for the family that works at Hills Copy & Mail because they were always so courteous and helpful. They went through a big relocation when the Lincoln Square Safeway announced a remodeling project in their building and parking lot. Hills Copy made it easy for me as a mailbox holders to transfer my address to the new Keller Drive location. In the end, it turned out to be too far for me to drive to for regular pick ups and I had to find another business mailbox location, but I wanted to write them a review because I appreciated their sweet family for years. In particular, whenever I wanted to occasionally use a service they advertise, like ship internationally or that old-fashioned thing called sending a FAX, they were honest with me and pointed me in the direction of another provider of that service who would not need to charge me as much as they would in order to do it. I really miss them and am grateful for the years when I started my small business within their extremely affordable rates and kind attention. read more

I take my Fed-Ex package drop-offs here at this location. It is housed inside a mini shopping center up in the Redwood Heights district of the Oakland Hills. It can difficult to find, and is housed in the back area. They also have a notary service, which can be very convenient Parking is free. The owner and her son are very nice people. read more

I will never go to this place again! It is a complete rip-off! I had a 45 page document to scan and when I called to find out if they could do it, the lady told me it would cost $14.00, which I knew was over-priced because I had the same doc scanned for $11.00 at Office Depot yesterday. But, bring in a rush I went ahead. Well not only did it take 40 minutes to scan, they charged me $40.00!!! Total effing rip-off!! This used to be a nice neighborhood store, with friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Apparently, no more. When I asked about shipping packages for FedEx (three times), the clerk finally pointed off into the distance and mumbled something about "boxes over there." And then walked away from the counter. There was, of course, nothing in sight. I had to walk around a corner and try to sort things out myself. Gee, thanks. (By comparison, the next day I went to a FedEx/Kinko's in San Leandro, and they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The woman behind the counter gladly took my return, and, without even my asking, proceeded to box it up for shipment. When I thanked her for doing that, she seemed genuinely surprised... and equally aghast when I told her of my previous day's encounter with the people at Hills. read more

They always have what I need, and are super helpful when I have questions! Best of all, they are super close to my house. Price (for boxes) is not much different than other places. Maybe a few cents more expensive, but I'd rather pay a few cents more then go out of my way to another drop off center/ shipping supply store. read more

If you have to get a complicated document notarized, Guadalupe is the one. She reads everything so she understands why and where and how to sign every spot. I've never seen a notary like her and unlike most others, have never had to redo for errors or incomplete docs. read more

Not impressed. Went in three times to get a notary service. First time, she was on the phone tracking a package and was told to 'stop by tomorrow before 6pm', second time I went into the store, she 'left early' and was told to 'call the next day' to 'find her schedule'. Today was the third time I tried to find a notary and apparently, she 'didn't come in today' then 'left at 2pm and was here earlier' - I give up. This place also didn't have stamps available. It's a MAIL CENTER. Ensure you have STAMPS. If you don't want business, this is is great way to do that. Complete waste of my time. Will find another place with people who like to actually have customers. read more

Really agonizingly awful customer service. I had three documents notarized here. Everything seemed fine, unremarkable. When I got home I realized that one of the documents had been notarized in the wrong place. I had pointed out the spot that I wanted notarized, and the notary (the owner, I think) seemed to understand at the time. While the error was annoying, it wasn't one-star-annoying. I could understand the error. People get distracted, confused...fine. The problem was that I came back when they were open on Monday and showed the notary what had happened. She point blank refused to notarize the correct form without charging me. Seriously. First she claimed that it wasn't a mistake, then she said that it was my fault since I hadn't caught the error before I paid. I'm normally a calm person. But this is the kind of thing that leaves me feeling like I'm about to have an aneurysm. The woman totally, 100% knew that she had made a mistake, and yet absolutely refused to correct it. Furthermore, she foisted the blame on me. She was quite aggressive. So as much as I prefer to support local small businesses, I now get any notarization done at the efficient and professional UPS in Montclair. read more
