Very poor customer service. I called and talked to Rachael explaining the problem with my pool . She asked me to send her pictures of the problem, which I did. She called me back and told me that a technician would call me tomorrow ( Friday ) to set up an appointment to look at the problem and give me an estimate. No one called, so I called and talked to another lady which had no idea what was going on. She told me that a technician would be out there Monday at 10:30 a.m. to look at it . Once again ,no show no phone call. By Tuesday I called another company to come out. They showed you the next day to do the repair. B&B pool repairs , Great customer service. Today ( Wednesday ). Hill pools technician decided to call. I told him that I already found someone to do the repair . He was shocked because he just got the repair tag today. I had heard good things and we used them to inspect our pool when we first got the house. So they've been to my property and know my pool. Left a message about a leak. They didn't call me back. I called them back and they said they'd call me tomorrow. Never called. This is a leak - something fairly serious. The woman I talked to on the phone seemed like an imbecile who was pedantic with me about their processes and how they work. I'd recommend they fire her as soon as possible if they care about getting new customers, which it seems they don't. read more

We have worked with Hill's Pool Service for years. When we have a home for sale with a pool, we have them do the inspection. They are detailed and provide a clearly written report that is easy to understand. We appreciate that when you order an inspection with them, they will provide the buyers with a complimentary introduction to their pool equipment so they can learn about their new pool. read more

We've had our pool service with these guys for the last year, as we're renting a house and the owner recommended them. After a year of service I can tell you that you should avoid this place like the plague. From a cleaning standpoint you have to babysit them quite a bit. We went out and bought our own pool test kit and found that they were completely over chlorinating the pool, while also ignore the PH balance. We got that corrected, but as I said it requires babysitting. From a maintenance standpoint they're absolute garbage. We've had two serious issues over the last year that make me say this- * At one point the hot tub would no longer heat up all the way, but the computer was showing that it was. It would think it was at 102 when our own thermometer would show the temperature at 94. When we attempted to get them to service this they wanted to replace a ton of irrelevant equipment, claiming that the spa needed a brand new heating unit to run. I asked them to just change the thermometer the computer was using, and shockingly enough everything works fine- it was a $60 fix for something they were going to charge thousands for. * More recently we had a relay break that controlled one of the filter pumps. This meant it was running 24/7 without stopping, which is bad for the pump and pretty expensive on electrical costs. We asked them to fix this and they claimed the whole computer needed to be replaced, and that it would cost over $4000 just on equipment alone, and more with labor. We called for a second opinion, and the new guy replaced just the relay and it ended up costing less than $200. These guys are either grossly incompetent or they're outright thieves. Do whatever you can to avoid this company. UPDATE: It appears that Hill's Pool Service has responded to this review. Unfortunately they are flat out lying in that comment. Their company *never* gave me a quote for $200 to replace the relay. They flat out told us that just replacing the relay was impossible because the manufacturer doesn't make the right ones for our model computer. They *only* gave us quotes that were in the thousands of dollars. Think about it- why would I even get quotes from other people if the fix was just $200? read more

We have hills pool service for over 22 years as our weekly cleaning maintanence company. It was finally time to replaster/reimagine our excisting pool. We met with Efraim Ramos who explained the process. He then showed us other pools inour area that they had completed. We decided to go all in and added an in pool hot tub and bahama ledge island along with changing the depth. Look bottom line is it just flat out expensive. Yet they met the timelines and did phenominal work. They have beensuper responsive to any issues we have had since. If you want a QUALITY job and good service I would reccomend these people. read more

This review is for customer service. We requested a review of the pool equipment after we bought our house. The technician worked with us for 15-20 minutes in January and we got a bill for $135. I spent the next four months trying to obtain an itemized bill to understand why the visit cost so much. Each time I called, I was promised someone would call me back with this information. They never did. Instead, I kept getting bills with late charges piled on. I finally just paid the bill without itemization just so I could stop having to remember to call them to try to understand my bill. Today, weeks after I paid, I received yet another invoice for the same bill. read more

We came back from a trip to find our basement flooded from a pipe connecting our pool to the pump. Hills was at our house within an hour, and the team replaced all our old copper with pvc in 2 days. Fantastic response. Each and every member of the team was extremely professional, and committed to the task. They were a great partner in a time of duress, with a lot of damage to the house. Horrible service, or better saying, no service at all. I had them for pool maintenance (chemicals, review of the pump and sweeper, cleaning of the pool) for 2.5 months after I moved in new in my new house. Half of the days the pool after they came, the pool would still be dirty, my pump didn't function well and they didn't detect it, I had no service for over 2 weeks without them even telling me (but they charged me at the end of the month), they didn't add chemicals for 3 weeks (even though I have a leak and in that time I refilled around half of the pool), ... On top of that, no answering of e-mails, and although they have not provided an adequate maintenance service, and they know because we have been trying to work it out in the last 2 months, they still charged me the full amount. I guess good reviews come from those that might have a good person coming to do the work, but because of the way the company has managed my situation, I still recommend looking for a different company for this. read more

Poorest Rating there's is!!!! We bought our heater from Pentair in September & when we installed the heater for our pool, this did not heat up. We were informed that we have to follow regulations in jnstalling this which we did & followed everything in the manual, but still the heater didi not heat up. We called pentair & they assigned Hills Pool Service to fix & do the warranty. Pentair assigned 3 Work orders to have Hillspool come to fix the Pool. Visit 1 & Work order 1: it was not even 10 minutes - no regulations followed & they did not want to touch this. Visit 2 & Work order #2: 2 things were mentioned missing which we since then corrected & followed all regulations . Word order #3: we were told that Joe, the manager will call us. We had called 3 times 3 days in a row & was told by the lady answering the phone, Rachel: he is in a meeting, will call you back or is gone for the day. Wow! If they do not install the heater for you & do not make money from you, even if they were assigned the warranty company to fix the problem, they will not take care of you! Do not use this company! All they are after is money in their pocket & not service! read more

I just called them for a one time cleaning of my 33'by16' pool and she quoted me a price of $135.00 I agreed to the price and she came back on the phone and said her pool guy in charge just told her they don't come to Daly City for a one time cleaning. I was going to see how good they did before I gave them my regular business to clean my pool. I don't even know where to begin. Being a first time pool owner I had no idea what to expect from a pool service company. I hired Hills because they have been in the business a long time and seemed to do a good job at my condo complex. What I didn't expect was to have the pool cleaner show up as early as 7:30 in the morning, a couple of times not show up at all, slam the gate, talk loudly on his cell phone to the point of waking me up out of a sound sleep and dump the debris from the pool sweeper off to the side so the wind blows it back in the pool. I also now have algae on the waterline tile that I didn't have before because he doesn't brush the tiles and floor like he's suppose to. My spa always looks dirty. The kicker was a few weeks ago he dumped out the filters on my side patio leaving a thick coat of scum on the deck and blocking the drain. We called the company and the supervisor wanted to charge us for cleaning up the mess!! Another time, I left a note for the pool cleaner to drain and clean the spa because it was extra dirty due to having ducks in the pool. I apologized for the inconvience and left him a $20 bill. He took the money, didn't clean the spa and I found the note crumpled on the driveway. You also have to wait for days to get return phone calls and that's after a couple of follow-up phone calls. I do have to say that the pool service guy did do a good job of maintaining the chemical balance in the pool and their head repair guy Wayne is the absolute best. However, due to all the constant frustration wtih this company, I have decided to terminate my contract wtih them. read more

I honestly don't know what they do. For months I had suspected they didn't do much. Today, I happened to be home and saw them arrive at 2:58 only to leave at 3:02. I saw the gentleman wave a screen around in the pool and then dump some chemicals and then leave. Time to look for a new service. read more

This is the worst pool cleaners ever! Our home is under construction and we trusted hill's to come and clean our pool on a weekly basis. Of course, I couldn't be at the house every week but I realized they were not coming and still charging me. I dropped the pool net at the bottom of the pool. Low and behold, 4 months later, I realize it is still sitting at the bottom. The pool cleaner failed to tell us that our pool vacuum was not working because the electricity was shut off yet decided to charge us on a weekly basis even though they weren't coming. They felt bad and were supposed to do 3 months of free cleaning but never came again. Now our pool is green and water level in spa is very low. George the service manager makes empty promises. Zero star for customer service. I never dealt with them as my property was being put up for sale. So, my agent was dealing with them including giving the inspector/technician her credit card information upon completion of the pool inspection. Then came invoice in my mail month after month showing balance not paid. The customer service lady was out of this world rude and unapologetic when confronted with the billing issue (straight out refused to investigate but proceeded to accuse client of not paying), not taking whatsoever responsibility or even consider possibility that the screw up was on their end, i.e. technician never provided payment information to their office, etc. Nonetheless, after my agent paid the balance again over the phone with her credit card info which they should already have, the customer service proceeded to put their little effort in mailing me another invoice for $2.50 apparently a late fee for their snafu. So here I am, taking a little bit of my effort to pull your rating down, which apparently plenty reviewers concur. Good job Hills Pool Service! P.S.: my realtor agent is the highest ranked agent in the bay area, so think of how this pool company is going to treat you if my agent who can sure be an incredible repeat client is getting this kind of nonsensical treatment. read more

We've been customers for over 15 years so I have nothing to compare our experience to. However, when the cleaner that comes out once a week literally spends a maximum of 5-10 minutes each time, or doesn't show up at all some weeks then you know something is wrong. If he comes alone, he's always on his cell phone speaking very loud and that's how we notice he's there. Also, in some occasions, the pool cleaner brings like 2-3 guys with him and that makes me and my family extremely uncomfortable for a service that takes him 5-10 minutes. Recently, we come home from vacation and notice our pool is GREEN. I call the company angrily telling them what's going on and the manager is saying he's going out to fix the problem ASAP. I hope this does get fixed and things are being resolved in a timely manner, otherwise we're moving on to another company that will hopefully do the right work. read more

Great customer service! I was house sitting a few weeks back and suddenly the pool heater stopped working. My friend who owned the house told me to call Hills to come out to fix the issue. I called and they said someone will be out the very next day. The next day, Alfredo showed up and fixed the issue. He was very polite and showed me what was wrong. Hills Pool Service found and repaired a leak that my regular weekly pool cleaner couldn't seem to handle. The water levels kept going down on my pool and given the drought I was getting very anxious. I called Hills and Wayne came out and within a short time figured out what was wrong -- a leak in the skimmer. I guess it pays to call a company who regularly does pool repair, I should have done it sooner. The next day a guy (Alfredo I think) comes and repairs the skimmer. No more water leak!! Since I'm very sensitive about my dogs, I also want to add that the workers were very careful to keep gates closed. read more

I don't understand why the bad yelps for Hill's. My parent have used them for 30+ years. I knew the pool cleaners and repair guys growing up. They were always responsive to everything. We changed pool cleaners once because there was a problem by they resolved it quickly. My parents have even referred them to several people over the years.They are awesome! read more

Can't believe the negative write ups for Hill's Pool Service. I have a small in ground spa that I have been able to maintain myself for close to 25 years. But when I need help with having to get a new water heater or main water pump, Hill's shows up and does the job for me. Today Sergio responded to my call because the system was sucking air. (Failed 'O' ring in the main pump} He fixed the problem in minutes and it runs like new. I don't get the negative reviews. read more

We have used Hills for over a decade. From regular cleaning to major repairs we have been very pleased.

I was trying to pull out of my parking spot and the driver would not let me in while it was very slow traffic (stop and go) driving right by. Instead, he shook his head at me as he drove by. Discourteous employee/employer would never get my business. read more
