BEWARE -- PLEASE READ BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH HILLSIDE TOYOTA I went to Hillside Toyota about four days ago because I was interested in leasing an electric vehicle. We had already discussed the vehicle, and after the dealership closed I was told to go home and that they would contact me the following day. They did call me back and told me to come into the dealership. They would not discuss the monthly payment with me over the phone. I came in excited and prepared to lease the vehicle. Once I arrived, I sat down with Hasim, the finance advisor, and was told my lease payment would be approximately $1,070 per month. Because that payment seemed extremely high, I specifically asked to see the money factor and an itemized breakdown of the lease so I could understand exactly why the monthly payment was so high. They refused to show me the money factor and refused to provide me with the itemized bill I requested. That was a major red flag for me. Instead, Yasin, the sales associate, switched seats with Hasim and began explaining the numbers to me himself. That made me even more cautious because I was asking for the actual lease figures and documentation, not simply a verbal explanation. I was also told that certain numbers were based on what the bank approved. Consumers should understand that while the lender can determine credit approval and financing terms, the dealership still controls important parts of the transaction, including the negotiated selling price and dealership-added products or fees. The following day, Hasim contacted me about another vehicle, a Toyota Corolla. I was discussing a three-year lease with 15,000 miles per year, and the figures presented to me would have resulted in approximately $20,000 in lease payments. Considering the Corolla I was looking at was priced around the mid-$20,000 range, that seemed extremely expensive to me for a vehicle I would still have to return at the end of the lease unless I paid the additional buyout amount. The three employees I personally dealt with were Hasim, the finance advisor; Yasin, the sales associate; and Mike, the finance manager. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that consumers be extremely cautious when dealing with them. My biggest concern was simple: I was being asked to consider a $1,070 monthly lease payment, but when I asked to see the money factor and an itemized bill showing how they arrived at that payment, they refused to show me that information. Before signing any lease, ask for everything in writing: the selling price, money factor, residual value, acquisition fee, taxes, dealer fees, amount due at signing, mileage allowance, and total of all payments. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!! I would give them 0 stars if I could. My 2024 Prius Prime 12 Volt battery died for the third time in 2 years! Boycott Toyota and their trash cars. I had an inspection scheduled for a Saturday and my battery died the day before. I had to get a jump to be able to get to the appointment. They wouldn't change my battery and told me to leave the car over the weekend even though it was 2 hours before closing and changing the battery takes 15 minutes. The loaner they gave me had a low windshield fluid warning and I asked them to refill it. The guy came and filled it halfway and I asked why he doesn't have more and he said they ran out. What a joke of a dealership. I had to wake up at 5:30 in the morning on Tuesday to make it before work to pick up the car and I was 2 hours late to work. When I got there, I found my car had red paint on both door handles. I had to ask them to clean it and they used wax and you can still see a spot. How are they so careless? How did they get my car dirty like that. They also did my recall, but now the rear door handles have to be held to open which is annoying. Before you would just press the handle and it you can pull it to open the door immediately without holding it. I am not sure if this is normal behavior. This is 2nd time they do a recall for the same issue of the rear doors possibly opening while driving which is ridiculous. Why can't Toyota design good cars and get anything right? When I got home, I tried to look at the battery to make sure it was changed. I pulled on the red tab and the whole terminal came off and the car lost power. I tried to put it back on and it sparked. I couldn't get it on well and it has hanging off an angle. Either they broke the terminal connection or the mechanic was careless and forgot to tighten the connection. What level of incompetence! If I hit a bad bump, maybe the terminal could've gotten loose and the car shut off and I could've been killed on the highway. This is gross negligence. This dealership should be shut down. I called asking for a manager two days ago and no one called back. I then called back twice yesterday and asked for 2 different managers and stayed on hold for 1 hour and no one responded! It seems they did that on purpose. They should all be fired. I thought this dealership changed after I heard one service manager was gone, but it seems it's exactly the same. Every time I go to them there's a new problem when I pick up the car. One time they said they changed the weather strip and I checked and they didn't! They lied to me and I had to waste 30 minutes for them to do it after I caught them. I also asked them to look at why my car smells moldy after the rain and they want to charge me $240 to look at it even though I am under warranty. This is a dishonest dealership. Bring your business elsewhere and save yourself time and a headache! Every time I write a review they tell me to email someone that never responds. My husband waited there for 6 hours with no sign of the car. They could have just told us it would take long and we would have gone home and come back. Instead they lied to us. I bought this RAV4 Hybrid about a year ago, and right after it came back from service for a recall, the AC stopped blowing cold air while the car is idle. It only gets cold when the vehicle is moving, and this problem never existed before the recall service. What's even more frustrating is that the dealership asked us to pay for diagnostics on a car that is still relatively new, even though the issue started immediately after their service visit. Instead of taking responsibility and properly checking what may have gone wrong during the recall, we were charged just to investigate the problem. However, with a scheduled appointment I showed up about 10 mins early and waited in the cue behind a dozen or more cars and didn't get in for almost 30 minutes. So keeping appointment times didn't seem like a priority on the day I had one. To that point, a scheduled routine service (oil change, tire rotation, fluid top off) and inspection had me waiting for just under 4 hours. I took my 2024 TCC XLE with 8K miles in for the 2nd year service and inspection, plus a few issues that sprang up. USB-C input under the A/C duct fell into the console. The black rubber molding that the roof rack sits on is discolored. The rear left door has to be slammed to close. Samuel, the service rep, told me the USB-C issue was human error, the roof rack black rubber molding fading issue was my fault, and that I think they're okay with the door needing slamming to close. None of my issues will be covered by warranty, and any repair would be out of pocket for me. Management has taken the same position and denied the fixes. Samuel told me the entire center console would have to be removed to repair the USB-C. I called BS on that, Just a money grab. It took me all of 5 minutes to fix the problem. The USB-C was not properly installed. It snaps right back into position using a plastic trim removal tool to remove the obvious to anyone, the USB-C bracket on the rear of the console. Any of you with a TCC, please check the roof rack molding. While my TCC has run flawlessly, my battery died, needing replacement within 6 months, and that lousy charging pad had a large gap that they semi-repaired. My recent issues noted above, well, they can't help me, but they will gladly charge me. read more

Usually with vehicle purchases, the salespeople have opposing goals to buyers but my salesperson/product specialist Toby was extremely thorough, reliable, and communicative during the car purchase process. My new vehicle was delivered in about three months when other dealerships tried to up-charge for quicker delivery and production. Toby was quick to respond and provide updates through calls, texts, and email. After some back and fourth I was able to get a fair value for a trade in vehicle as well. I suggest checking on the Toyota website. Then, going in with a must-have bucket list and a good-to-have bucket list for your next vehicle purchase so that they can find a package suitable for your needs, rather than blindly going in to check out the cars. There wasn't a large selection of inventory in stock. The dealership is located on a busy corner on Hillside Ave. can't really find decent parking unless you're lucky and don't forget to pay your meter. My husband and I left work 2 hours early to make sure we made it to our appointment on time because it takes an hour to get there from where I work. When we got there, they had already sold the vehicle that I made the appointment for without any other vehicles to show me that could be taken that day. My husband and I started to panic because I needed a fuel-efficient vehicle by the following week. We started frantically calling dealerships, knowing most of them were close to closing time. I went there today to look at a 2022 Lexus ES 350. It took me over an hour to get there with traffic. Upon arriving there was NO PARKING. There were cars that were double parked as far as the eye could see. When I got to the end of the double parked cars I saw a sign that said Valet Parking. I had a terrible experience here. 5 days before my appointment, I changed my air filters and cabin filter myself. On the appointment day, the brand new filter I had recently replaced, they told me needed to be replaced because it was not good. I spoke to the mechanic and they told me that it was an error. Imagine if I hadn't changed my filter, I do not know if the other things they flagged as needing replacement, are legitimate after what happened with the filter. The manager told me that it 'might be' a computer error, which is absurd since, these are brand new filters. The staff were friendly and kind until this occurred. I do plan to return for my next oil change, I will just need to be more careful in case more errors occur. PIRATES. TAKE YOUR VEHICLE ANYWHERE ELSE. Got a coupon in the mail for Hillside Toyota, for a 'Free' Oil change and inspection. Brought it in. First off, the guy behind the counter rattled off a service record that doesn't exist, since I've never taken it there before, and I haven't had someone else change my oil literally in years. The oil change also included a "multi-point inspection." So we're already off to a good start. Then he told me that the car likely needed the coolant flush (tried to sell me a B.S. "Throttle Cleaning" like I'm a complete idiot.) I had intended to do the coolant flush myself, but I asked him how much it would be, he said $300. It was a crazy high number for a simple flush, but I was in a good mood since I was getting a free oil change, and I'm extremely busy. Like a dope, I said 'What the hell, I'll pay for the convenience.' I came back a couple of hours later. I was charged $290 for labor. $145 per hour. Now, I don't know if anyone reading this has ever changed oil, or flushed coolant, but neither takes an hour, and it can be done simultaneously. I was charged $417, not $300 (which was very high price in the first place.) Did some classic 'Voodoo' arithmetic to arrive at that number. To top it all off, I opened the hood when I got home, and found a bolt missing "Seal To Hood Clip". Also, and I know this for a fact: A couple of my lights don't work, I'm missing a wheel wheel liner, my blend doors are shot, and I have a seat belt that is worn, and the splash guard is held up with duct tape, all significant issues which their 'multi-point inspection' must have missed! Good work! To top it all off, they didn't even bother to reset my 'oil change' countdown on the car's computer. So it still shows the oil and the oil filter needs to be changed. They told me my brake pads need to be replaced, and that's the only thing I'm grateful for. I haven't taken a caliper to them yet, but based on the other work I've seen, I'm doubtful if that is even right. Don't go here. You absolutely will regret it. Horrible service. Do not go here. Just picked up my car from its first yearly service. It's a brand new car but I just wanted them to take a look at something for me as it was making a sound. They obviously didn't take a look at it, but they also had my car with them for TWO days for a simple oil change and inspection. When I called to find out about my car after two days, the guy in charge of my service was busy. After 2 hours he still wasn't available to give me an update on my car. Overall it was a shitty experience altogether. And now I'll most likely have to pay somewhere else for something I was supposed to get for free from here. read more

We took our car here for years for routine maintenance and service but we'll never return after our most recent experience. The long and short of the story is that we were having a maintenance problem with the vehicle, took it to Hillside and were charged $300 for an incorrect and sloppy diagnosis. The diagnosis made no sense to me and I consulted with other mechanics who concurred that Hillside must have made a mistake or simply not done a thorough job. Hillside wanted to charge $3000 for the repair. Even if their diagnosis was correct (and it wasn't), I received a quote for the same repair from another Toyota Dealership for literally one third of the price. I ended up driving two hours to take the car to the Toyota Dealership where we originally bought the vehicle. They provided the correct diagnosis, charged only $150 for the diagnostic fee and provided an estimate that was less than one half of what Hillside wanted to charge. I have no doubt that Hillside would have charged us $3k to fix a part that did not need to be fixed and then would have charged an additional $3k to fix the part that actually needed to be repaired! In addition to this terribly incompetent service, Hillside's technicians also created new problems with the vehicle that didn't exist before we took it to their shop. All of this to say, avoid this place at any cost, or it will very likely cost you. I'm not sure if they've always been this terrible or if the pandemic has turned them into scammers. Either way, their current business practices are corrupt and fraudulent. I'll also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because this really was beyond the pale. read more

Upon arrival, I was told it would be 2 hours maximum, which seemed long but I accepted it. It ended up being almost 4 hours of sitting in the sweltering waiting room. The supervisor kindly offered me a discount, but upon checkout, they said NYS law prohibits them from discounting, so they retracted the offer. That was disappointing. WILL NEVER RETURN TO HILLSIDE TOYOTA WORST EXPERIENCE EVER Today had a scheduled 7:45am inspection which is a simple process done. I arrived at 7:35am did not enter until 8:45am, at approximately 9:05am received vehicle stating inspection was completed. When I was about to enter the vehicle, I noticed the ABS and Traction lights were on so I ask them what is going on their response was I brought it in that way LIARS! 15-30 minutes inspection turned into 3-4 hours repairs after they screwed up They called me at 10:52 am stating they completed what THEY CAUSED, gave them an extra 2 hours before pickup. When I arrived there paper work not completed then it took another 30 minutes or more for them to locate my vehicle. I bought my car here a couple of years ago. I continue to return for my car servicing. From making an appointment to the phone I usually have gotten someone who is pleasant and will take their time to help you find an appointment that works for you. I had a morning appointment for servicing and even though I arrived about 10mins before my scheduled slot there was already a line of cars waiting to drive in. I waited around twenty five minutes for my car to make it to the front. Once inside the workers are nice and will try to explain everything as best as they can. The waiting area has gotten an upgrade on the tv and the coffee area. I didn't try the coffee this time but it did smell fresh. I haven't had issues with my car and when anything has come up I have always been able to get a service check. The review is about service. Use the business places as a middleman for our purchased vehicle thru the employee program. We were told by Toyota main office two weeks ago that our vehicle is being shipped to this location. Advised to be patient as it being done as a courtesy. Waited for the dealer's call and decided to make a follow up call on its second week. Spoke with the sales manager Joel and gladly help us about the inquiry. The salesman was very friendly , explained step by step the procedure of claiming the car, not pushy of making some sales ( thru financing) , did not feel that he was just doing it as a courtesy , we felt that we were new customers and he met our expectations and needs. After all the paperworks signing , we were told to come back a day or two for the final step- owning it. So we returned . The process did not take long. The salesperson was efficient, friendly, professional and easy to deal with. I would recommend this associate to our friends in needs of Toyota vehicle. The location is the closest to our area. Easy to find and parking is not bad to think it is situated within busy crossed streets. Lots of their vehicles were on their display floor.
