Solid spot. I feel like Hillstone is always consistent and provides good service. The spinach dip was not very tasty-- I found it to be very mid and the chips were stale. The sushi was good, nothing crazy. The chicken sandwich was great, I will say!! We had an issue with the waitress taking our leftovers back to the kitchen but the GM came back to resolve issue and offered us a new sandwich to go which was very kind. Ambiance is cute there.

Hillstone continues to be one of the most consistent restaurants I've ever dined at. Prices are on the higher end but the quality of the food & service more than makes up for it. Came on a Wednesday evening and as always, it was pretty busy. I would highly recommend reservations if your party is on the smaller side (we came as a party of 2). We ordered the sashimi salad & the ribs. Food is the star of the show, it came out quick and both dishes were excellent. We also had The Crush (more tart than I remember) and ordered 2 desserts: the hot fudge sundae & the key lime pie. The key lime pie was fantastic. The restaurant was lively & service was quick. This is a great spot for family dinners, special occasions and date nights.

The food & the service are always on point, always consistent, best service. I tried almost everything on the menu over the year & I have to say they are all delicious. The firehouse chili dish should make it to the daily menu not just weekends. It was flavorful. The menu hasn't changed but that is ok. Staying consistent & providing good quality food & service are what makes Hillstone group successful. Please expand to the valley .

WOW! 100% worth the hype it gets. made a last minute reservation for 9:30 pm and even though it was so close to closing, service was so fast, staff was incredibly friendly, and it was still very crowded! was so impressed with every single dish, I seriously still dream about the cashew salad with the ahi. our food came out so quick and our waiter had the best recs! Such an amazing atmosphere and the food is great quality, we felt very cared for and I 100% want to try the rest of the menu

Many thanks to our loved one (JAE) for introducing us to this magnificent restaurant and generously treating us to such a memorable meal. Every dish we ordered was delicious, especially the Artichoke and California Burger, which were outstanding. The spacious round table assigned to us provided exceptional comfort and made dining even more enjoyable. The service was attentive and professional throughout our visit. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience that we will cherish and remember fondly for years to come. Many thanks to JAE and the Hillstone staff.

This Santa Monica institution is still popular for a reason.. with their delicious food selection, high quality execution and knowledgeable staff. It's no wonder that Hillstone in Santa Monica they still attracting loyal patrons. I've been coming here for over a decade and recently stopped in for lunch with my friends after visiting the Ilusion Museum which is right around the corner. We made a reservation and were sat promptly and ordered a bunch of seafood based dishes to share The highlights of the meal for the grilled trout, brownie dessert and sushi The price point is definitely higher than most of the surrounding fast casual eateries nearby but definitely a good spot for a date night or more upscale meal with friends

I've come here a lot over the years but just have never written a review. It is located around the Promenade and there is a parking structure close by so easy access. It is typically always busy on weekends unless you go there right when it opens. This most recent time I came on a Saturday afternoon. We got drinks at the bar with Nicki and she always is so great. We waited about 15 minutes before being seated. We ordered and got our appetizers quickly. We ordered the Cheese Toast. That is one of our favorite appetizers. Their artichokes are also good, but sometimes hit or miss because sometimes the artichokes are small. We got our food (Rotisserie Chicken, Filet Mignon, and Fork and Knife Ribs). The food is good and typically good portion size. I've tried lots of stuff over the years including sushi, cheeseburger, French dip, and more. Servers are always nice and attentive despite always being busy.

Their customer service was whatever for take out/home but we'll have to try in person to change my mind. Prime dip sandwich was all right - you can't order any sides for the takeout option.

A very good Hillstone experience overall but this place is just busy. Service was slightly slower than desired but still nice. The sushi is solid as a standout, plus the salads are very flavorful. We were in love with the crust for the key lime pie too. While the artichokes were their specialty and they source it from a very particular destination in California, it's personally a skip for me. A lot of work to eat the insides with and for very little amounts after excluding the outer leaves.

Oh yeah this place is totally a vibe. The servers are professional yet chill and everyone just seems to be having a good time. The food is pretty good as well! Nothing was bad, maybe just a bit expensive for what it is. Overall might be worth trying!!!!

Hillstone never disappoints. I was there again, just a few days ago. Food and drinks 5 stars: The food and drinks are consistently great. Their sushi and rolls are better than most sushi restaurants! Service 5 stars: Their service should be benchmarked as the industry-standard for other fine dining establishments to try to achieve. I frequently mention in my other restaurant reviews that service is server dependent. No so at Hillstone. They seem to be putting a lot of emphasis into hiring and training. As a result, their service is consistently of the highest standards. There is no average employee at Hillstone. Venue 5 stars: The restaurant is clean, modern, classy and well kept. The Last Word 5 stars: Very highly recommended!

Always great service, as you would expect from a Hillstone group restaurant. Food is nothing ground breaking but always solid, it's okay to order the burger here. Though, I do wish you would offer a version of the ribeye that's non-marinated like Houston's does. The mid martini cold glass refresher always pleases. Nice enough for a date, but not so nice that catching up with friends and family feels stuffy. Upstairs is a little more quiet and intimate if needed. BTW what's with 86'ing cake cutting service and not letting us know when we dropped off the cake upon checking in with the hostess? You've done it in the past and it would make sense to let us know the change in policy then and not after we finished our entrees ‍

If you're coming on a weekend, prepare for a crowd, but it's the good kind of crowded where everyone looks like they just came from a gallery opening. The Food: I'm still thinking about the Crispy Chicken Sandwich--it was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and came with a fennel-apple slaw that actually felt fresh. We also shared the Bacon Wrapped Dates (obviously) and the Hand Cut Kennebec Fries, which arrive in a bowl so huge it could basically be its own zip code. The Drinks: Their Happy Hour is arguably the best in the city. I had the Japanese Dream with matcha, and it was expertly crafted--not too sweet, which is my biggest pet peeve. The "Misfit" Moment: The service can be a tiny bit slow when it's "rammed," and there's a 4% kitchen fee that feels a bit unnecessary, but they make up for it with those complimentary sea salt chocolate chip cookies at the end. They are warm, gooey, and life-changing. One major heads-up: I heard a rumor they might be closing their doors on April 18th due to some landlord drama, so get there while you still can.

The restaurant itself was very cool, it had an old diner feel but with the decor, lighting and music it was hip and trendy. All the tables were full and the menu looked very interesting. They took old diner staples and modernized it. Great concept!! We started off with garlic bread which was two pieces of cibata bread with 3 bulbs of roasted garlic in olive oil. The presentation was beautiful and while it was messy, it was yummy. The ratio of garlic to bread was off. There was so much garlic and only two pieces of bread. It should have been 4 pieces. For dinner, I ordered the crispy chicken (fried chicken) with greens which was very good. The breading was spiced perfectly and the chicken was moist and yummy. My husband went for the cheese burger, cooked medium rare with fries. Unfortunately, the burger came out well done and Johnny immediately took it back to and had another burger made. After a long while and mind you I had to eat by myself kind of killing the experience, the burger came back and again it was more well than medium which was very frustrating. Johnny and the manger of the restaurant stopped by and asked to do it again and he declined. They said they will take it off the bill which was very nice. The bill came and when I reviewed it, we saw the billed included both burgers (original and the replacement) with the two credits, as well as, a 4 percent kitchen charge. However, when it summed up the tip, it based it on everything that came to our table. For example, the original bill if everything was perfect should have been $75 it added the replacement burger and I increased it to $100. So the calculated 20% tip was $20 based on the $100. My check balance with the burger credit was $62 including tax, plus a $19 tip. I knew exactly what was going on but since Johnny was an attentive and good waiter we wanted to make sure he was compensated for his work. I wasn't going to make a big deal about the 4% for the kitchen but in this case, it was there incompetence that caused the problem and that should have never been passed to us. Overall, would we go back to Diner Antoinette on our next holiday to Santa Monica, probably not.

It swings from Vietnamese small plates to a straightforward steak, and the range never settles into a point of view -- it reads less like a confident eclectic kitchen than a grab bag. It came with a fish sauce for dipping that it didn't need -- a wedge of lemon on the side would have suited it far better. The Vietnamese crab cake was a real miss; I couldn't get past it. The dumplings were fine but forgettable. Service ran to extremes. Our server was warm and eager, almost too eager -- he pushed a bottle of wine we weren't sold on, and we ordered it anyway. Then, after all that attentiveness, he disappeared toward the end of the meal and never came back. The wine list was fine, nothing memorable. And the bites, some of the most memorable dishes year to date. It was quiet on a wednesday evening. A few folks sat at the bar with me and we made acquaintance with each other and the bar tender. I got the peaches, mushrooms asada, and oysters. All of which: some of the best i have ever had. Without doubt, the best oysters I have ever eaten. A dark mignonette that was perfectly acidic and just spicy enough to make you clutch your glass, but not commit to another sip. The peaches were a dream. Crispy and ripe the olive oil glued the fresh cracked pepper and mini boulders of salt to each piece. And the basil gave that bit of spice leveled off with a whisper of citrus. All tied together with the strings of oaxacan cheese mellowing it all out with a subtle creaminess that simply joins the sweetness, but does not overpower. The mushrooms are a must. Cooked to perfection, the asada had a pleasant spice that lingers like a friend you havent seen in years. A linger you dont want to end. Pair that up with the gentle sweetness of the mango to keep things light. The asada coating (sauce? Idk the right word) was married to every crevice of the mushroom so that every bite exuded the smoky, tangy marinade all over your tongue like a gallon of paint splattering from a 10 story fall. Service cant go unmentioned. The basics: timely, respectful, knowledgable. But, the staff seemed genuinely interested in the experience of each guest. They all took time to answer questions, ask questions, converse, and just generally be present with each guest. A remarkable showing from the entire squad.
