I have used Hilltop Cleaners a few times in the past for alterations only. I brought in a new dress with tags to be hemmed ONLY. I was told this would cost $65 dollars to hem a basic black dress (no lining, no embellishments, made of cotton). I needed it to travel, so I relented even though the price gave me pause. Please see the pictures of their idea of a $65 hem job. I took it back to request a partial refund because the work was done so poorly. I was offered for the work be redone (NO THANK YOU), then a credit (I DON'T PLAN TO RETURN) and was only given a full refund after haggling with a manager and then the owner himself - who told me to never come back. No acknowledgement or apology for the shoddy work. Be careful with their alterations service, especially with valuable items. My experience was TERRIBLE! read more

As a new resident in the community, I was hoping to find a reliable local cleaner, but my first experience at Hilltop Cleaners in Encino was beyond disappointing. I brought in just 2 dress shirts, and when I came back to pick them up, I was shocked to be charged $42.10. I honestly thought there had to be some mistake, so I politely asked, "Excuse me?" and the woman repeated the price. I asked again if she was sure that was for only 2 shirts, and she said yes. When I expressed how crazy that seemed, her response was incredibly rude: "You want your shirts or no." Needless to say, this was my first and last time here. I couldn't be happier with this dry cleaner. They are all you'd want in a service based business. They are efficient, open 7 days a week, and great at their craft of spiffing up your clothes to feel like new. I came here last Saturday and dropped off 2 items early in the morning, which I found a lot of dry cleaners are not doing being open early on. Then because they're a pretty massive establishment they have the man power to stay open till the wee hours of the night. I was thrilled to find out that I could do same day pick up after 3pm. They refused all responsibility and destroyed a $1,500 shirt, really terrible place, was promised a call back from the owner 5 times after going in person many times, never once a call back. They didn't do the alterations they charged a very high price for! I was charged a higher price when my items were picked up vs what they said it would be initially. When I discovered the alterations had not been done at all, they told me it was not their problem - even the owner didn't care to help. They charge you more when you go to pick up your items than what they told you when you dropped them off; they shorten your items more than requested so they don't look right and then say there is nothing they can do to fix it (this happened with two items). The hem lines are crooked. They made an item intended to be ankle length mid calf length and still made me pay for it! Once they didn't even do the alterations at all!! When you tell them something is wrong or the price is higher than what they told you before they argue with you that you're wrong. They charge SO MUCH for their services and the results are always horrible. Never going back there again!!! read more

Am currently staying nearby and noticed Hilltop Cleaners when I was at the Gelson's Market on Ventura and Havenhurst. Called Hilltop Cleaners this morning to find out if they press pants while you wait. Found out they did, so took a pair of pants there to be pressed. It was very nice finding someplace that still pressed pants while you waited and even nicer finding someplace that is open on holidays. (Today is Memorial Day.) It only took a few minutes to press the pants. While waiting for the pants to be pressed noticed Hilltop also does alterations and shoe repair. Will remember that the next time I need alterations or new heels. read more

This is the WORST cleaners anywhere in Southern California! Do not bring your clothes here if you value them. I brought a dozen Cubavera shirts in for dry cleaning. I got 11 back. Over a two week period of coming back daily to see if my 12th Cubavera was done, I was given nothing but a runaround. I was told that there are no cleaning facilities on the premises. Everything was sent out to a central cleaners that served three other cleaners. Theories abounded about the fate of my shirt. " The ticket fell off and they cannot identify it." "It may have been mistakenly sent to another cleaners." "It may have been given to another customer by mistake." BOVINE EXCREMENT!!! Finally, I was offered $30 for the shirt, which new was over $100! They are incredibly expensive, if you are having items altered and cleaned please check the price first they charged me $65 to have a $20 SHEIN skirt taken in and everyone know how cheap SHEIN products are. 5 minor alterations and 5 pieces cleaned cost $265.00 I was angry but I paid it because I didn't want to start a argument because I'm colored and you know how that would of went. When this place just opened, few years ago, I took some white shirts there. They gave me a bunch of presents like a mug and calendar and smth else. When I picked up my shirts and brought it home, it was still dirty with the same stains but ironed. I thought it was someone's mistake and didn't get mad, I took it back and they promised to clean it. But guess what, second time I came to pick it up, it was still ironed and dirty like no one even touched it. Whatever. Now, maybe I don't know how many years later, like 5 or more I gave it another try because I just needed my outfit to be steamed. So guess what, they pressed it instead of steaming and now I'm going to the event in this "beautiful" trousers with the stripes in the middle. I know that no one wants to read a bad review about this place because it's conveniently located, open long hours, and can return things to you quickly. Because of all these things, I've been going on and off for years. On, for the reasons above - in short, convenience; off, because they were always breaking buttons on my husband's shirts, not getting stains out, never taking responsibility for anything, and quite pricey. But this last time was really the last time. I had brought in a pair of designer pants to be altered. When I tried them on afterwards at home, they were very uneven, one leg longer than the other. I brought them back, and put them on in front of alteration people to show them. Both of them - one man, one woman - looked down at the pants and both said "I don't know who did that. It wasn't me." While I'm thinking that that's an odd thing to say because it really didn't matter who did it, the owner come over, and started to measure the pants. I'm guessing he heard them both denying that they had done the work and didn't like the sound of it. As I was walking back towards the changing room I heard him lightly say something like "I have to do your work for you, huh?", and the alteration staff laughed. I picked up the pants again, tried them on at home, and, yep, the legs were still VERY uneven. Back I went for the 3rd time with the same pants that had already been paid for, and like I said previously, not cheap. This time only the lady alteration person is there. First thing out of her mouth when I say that they are still not even is "I don't know who did that...." I say to her that it really doesn't matter who did it, I would just like to have the pants done once and for all correctly. And this is when the situation really went downhill. She looks at me and says that she doesn't see any difference in the two legs. I tell her the difference is obvious by how much of my foot you can see in each shoe. She yanks down on the shorter pant leg, and laughs and says, "see, they're even." I was so shocked I didn't know what to say, so I lifted up my shirt to show her that now that side of the waist was now on my hip instead of on my waist, and she's still laughing. At this point I ask to see the owner. It was late in the evening, and the owner wasn't there, but manager Amy came, looked me over, and said that the legs are even. At that point I felt like either I'd gone crazy or they were truly gas-lighting me because they didn't want to fix their work. All this time I was the only person in the store, but all of a sudden a lady came in and walked up to the counter. Manager Amy points in my direction and says to this stranger, "Do you think the legs are even? She thinks they're not even." The lady comes over while I stand there feeling like a fool, and says that yes, clearly one leg is shorter the other. I look over at the seamstress who then says "fine, I will fix it." I took off the pants and she said she would measure the legs, still hoping to prove me wrong. When she measured, one leg was an inch shorter than the other. A whole inch! That's impossible not to see with the naked eye on a person wearing pants, and yet they both acted like I was a crazy person and imagining things, literally laughing at me to my face. When I came back to the counter to check out and get my receipt, we were alone so that so I wouldn't embarrass her in front of anyone, I asked Manager Amy why she would involve a random customer in my situation, and told her that I didn't think that was cool. She said "why is it not cool?" I told her because it was nobody else's business, that it was between myself and the staff of this business, and that she made me feel very uncomfortable, even though the customer had agreed with me. Her response was an angry, "YOU are not cool!" Given that I had been patient throughout all this, never raising my voice or getting heated, even in the face of their obvious lying to me, I asked how had I been "uncool" to her. She waved me away with her hand, saying "I finished my service" and turned her back on me. No apology for her error, for laughing at me, or for making me feel uncomfortable. Bottom line: these people are not good at their job - three attempts to properly shorten a pair of pants! - don't stand by their work, and don't know how to treat or appreciate people who give them their business. No amount of convenience will ever make up for poor quality work and such rude staff. read more

Can't say much about their dry cleaning but I DO NOT recommend their alterations service. First off, they tout "instant alterations - no extra costs" but I've never been able to get same day turnaround, more like 5-7days. If you ask for anytime sooner, the grumpy ladies give you the biggest attitude. Second, their simple hemming and alterations are pricey! Third, they do a sloppy job. I just picked up some basic black slacks (no lining) hem job and one leg was not even sewn correctly! Like literally not even sewn in sections and it was hanging down. Unbelievable for $30! Plenty of better quality, friendlier, cheaper options in the area. @Hilltop, you had such promise with your new customer gift bags and clever online communications/offers but wow, your staff seems to have forgotten who's paying the bills. read more

I've used them for about a year now and have always paid the special where I give them, I believe, $600 upfront for about $700 worth of service. Once that's depleted I usually call and pay upfront for the special again. Aside from that I've also referred 11 of my friends. Well that all just changed. Today the gentleman who picks up and delivers clothes stopped by to drop of my dry cleaning. I stopped my workout with my personal trainer, opened my house gates to let the gentleman in, and I grabbed my clothes and tipped him as usual so I could get back to my workout, which I was in the middle of, with my personal trainer. He stated that my funds account was almost depleted and I needed to pay. I said that fine I will and would call them in about 30 minutes once I was done with my workout with my personal trainer, to pay for the special again. He said no I have to talk to the manager. Mind you I'm still drenched in sweat at the front door of my mansion. So he called and I spoke with Rachel the manager over the phone and said I would re-establish the special once I was done with my workout bc I was in the middle of it drenched in sweat... Rachel then stated that I can give the delivery guy my clothes back and he can come back once I'm ready to pay. Lol who has time for that. I guess the days of taking care of good paying customers who pay upfront and spend at least a few thousand in less than a year are over. To bad I kinda like Hilltop but that is no way to treat someone who has done nothing but support your "local business" by always paying on time and consistently uses your service. To the owner/s of Hilltop I wish you continued success however you need to check your employees on this. Specifically when you have a loyal customer like me. Respect should always be intact. I generally come here only because they are very close to my house and when they offer 20% discount. They are very expensive, so the only way it make sense to take my dry cleaning here is when they offer a 20% discount. Here is my issue.... When you present the 20%, the cashier ways get awkward and is confused on how to process the coupon. I dropped off my cloths last week and it took them 7 min just to figure out how to apply the coupon. After waiting for 7 mins, I asked " are we good with the discount", girl at the front said yes. So I go in today to pick, of course the 20% isn't applied. Then I have to go through the process of explaining the coupon and pulling up the code in my phone. This happens every time I present a discount coupon. I really believe management trains their employees to act ignorant. I would not have posted this if it happened once, it's happened 3-4 times. If you OFFER a DISCOUNT, don't give your customers a hard time why they redeem it. read more
