I brought my wedding dress in as L&S was recommended by the shop I bought it from. I dropped it off on 11/14 and was told the owner would call me to give me the price. A week went by and he never called, so I had to call back for them to quote me the price. They said they would let me know when it was ready. About a month went by and I hadn't heard anything so I called to check in and was told to call back in a few days because they had no information about my dress. I called again on 12/22 and was snapped at and told that I was supposed to tell them when I needed the dress by. I said I would like it by the end of the year as 1.5 months seems like plenty of time to expect a dress to be done. They told me it would be ready by the next day and I could get it then. I went in on 12/23 and was again snapped at because they didn't think I was going to be there that early. The manager grabbed my ticket and told me the dress wouldn't be ready for several more months because I needed a preservation box. I pointed out that my ticket says "no preservation box needed." They then said they mixed my dress up with another wedding dress. After looking around, they claimed my dress was ready and that it needed to be bagged but that they were in the middle of deliveries so I should go run an errand and come back in an hour. At this point I calmly said I was frustrated because the customer service and communication has been very poor. The manager snapped at me again saying they told me it would take months, when in fact that was never relayed and they just said they mixed me up with another bride. He then snapped that they work until 10PM every night. I merely said, if you tell a customer you will call them or that their item will be ready by a certain time, you should abide by that. The manager continued to blame me and I said I'd be back in an hour. A few minutes later he called to apologize and claimed that he wanted to clean my dress again and that he would deliver it to me free of charge. I agreed that would be fine and asked when it would be ready. He said first week of January so I confirmed that he would call me the first week of January to arrange for delivery and was promised he would. I did not hear anything the first week of January and had to call back on 1/12. He claimed he was "just about to call me" and that the dress was ready and they could deliver it next week. I said no need and I would rather get it quickly and will pick it up myself. I was then told it would be ready Friday. Again, very confusing since he had just said it was already ready. I finally picked up the dress and after saying I didn't need a preservation box, they put it in one. I was nervous to take it away without actually examining the quality of the cleaning since I couldn't see inside the box, but I inspected it when I got home. It appears they did a good job cleaning the dress, and they did knock a bit more of the price down. Nonetheless, I would have preferred paying more for it to be done efficiently and with better customer service. It was not worth the stress to have my dress in limbo for two months. I'm sure getting regular clothing items cleaned here is an easier experience, but they do not seem to have the bandwidth or desire to properly care for wedding dresses and I was told by the manager wedding dresses are their "lowest priority." I would not recommend and would not return. read more

I took my wedding dress for cleaning and preservation in July of last year. The owner said it would be ready around December due to a preservation boxes shortage. I agreed because this place was recommended by my bridal dress boutique and I thought I should trust their services. I waited through the end of the year and called early this year in March since I did not hear from them. They said the dress was almost next in line to be cleaned and preserved and it could possibly be ready by May. I told them I was going to pick up the dress that same day and to forget about cleaning it. They seemed shocked that I did not want to wait for it. I received no apology or even empathy for their lack of professionalism or care and wasting months of my time. read more

I bought a wedding dress in it was supposed to be ready by January 20, 2023. after being in touch with them three or four times after that date. They were going to notify me when it was ready because I was moving out of state. I phoned today may 2 they said it was done, and I could pick it up. Everything has been shipped out of state already and when I mentioned that it had to be mailed, he said it wasn't his problem. And the topper it was over $600 to have it cleaned. It's been a long time since I updated this review. Many many years later, and with a shift in the generations, this exquisite family cleaners is as excellent as it has been for the past 25 years. (Which is as long as I've been coming here.) People: this is a fine, fine cleaners. The sort of place you send your expensive clothes by mail if you do not live in a metropolitan area. This is where you come if you need oily tapenade or red wine taken out of your Alberta Ferretti silk chiffon (which I often do, because I am always sitting in things or the loved one may or may not get a bit drunk and spill his drink on me). This is where you send your gabardine trenches (and all nice cotton items) if you do not want them to become flat and shiny. It's not going to be cheap, but if you want a cheap cleaners, go to the end of your block. (If you happen to live at the end of the block and L&S is your cleaners, man are you in luck.) This is where to come to have cleaned: your pure white linen Ralph Lauren suit with the rhinestone buttons, that pale pink brushed nylon Ozbek dress you bought in 1994 and still looks incredible on you because you wore it only once but you never had it dry cleaned, ALL fine silk, ALL expensive cotton, and anything else (even horrible rayon) that you want to wear for a long time. This is also where you come if you need your mother's 1960s silk gauze prom dress restored for a party where you don't want to be dressed like everyone else. (Their wonderful, beautiful, darling seamstress plucked pieces of fabric out of her bag of scraps to perfectly match the parts on my mother's old dress that needed mending.) When people say, "How can you live in LA???" there are a few places that make it worth it -- just a few! L & S Cleaners is one of them. Looking for a drycleaner close to my office. L&S is right next door. Price quoted: $40 for a sleeveless sheath dress and $20 for a simple cropped cardigan sweater!!! Seriously???? I didn't ask them to re-make the dress... The gentleman at the cleaners was nice enough to to recommend a drycleaner down the street that "would do a decent job and not ruin my clothes"... If you have something EXTREMELY delicate that might fall apart in the wash, this is the place to go. It might be a complete pain due to traffic, but worth having your garment cleaned and in even better condition than when you brought it in! Pricing is a bit more on the expensive side. I brought in a gray suit and 2 ties and pricing was $38.75/suit and $12.50/tie. As a first time customer, they gave me 20% off, but I had two issues: 1) When I dropped off the clothes on Friday, I was told they would be ready by Wednesday. I then said I needed them on Saturday, and suddenly, they were able to do it by Saturday. So why did they tell me Wednesday in the first place?? 2) When I picked up my suit, there was a button missing from the suit, and for the pricing and the "quality" standard they told me to expect to validate their prices, I was not happy. When I called, they said to bring it back in 10 minutes since they were closed. Inconvenient hours and they didn't check the suit buttons. Granted, I checked one sleeve in the store, so it's my fault I should have checked - but hey, I wasn't the one who took the button off in the first place. Go somewhere else for cheaper, more efficient service. read more

This is, by far, the best dry cleaner in the city. They are admittedly expensive, but the service and quality make it actually a value to clean your clothes here. We've been coming in since the 80's.
