First time here. We wanted to try the pies. We got a margarita and festa di funghi. Both were excellent and had that nice frank pepe char. We also split a salad which was big and delicious. The service was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only problem was the sun was coming through the window into my eyes but they finally moved us to a different table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is definitely a place to check out.

The mozzarella cheese sticks cheese pull was on point!

So good!! Pizzas were delicious and the mozzarella sticks are the best we've ever had. Service was perfect with very friendly servers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy feels inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will definitely return.

Pizza ai funghi, mamma che buona!!!

Ragazzi! Veramente bravi, ottimo lavoro nella selezione delle materie prime, [[HIGHLIGHT]]nell'esecuzione e nel farci sentire in Italia anche nel mezzo del nulla[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]! Torneremo presto! Guys! Really good job in selecting your ingredients, in the execution and in making us feel like we're in Italy even in the middle of nowhere! We will be back soon! As we were finishing ordering, the guy at the counter said "by the way that'll be an hour, is that ok?" We asked how many orders he said are before and he said "a lot." Hilltown hot pies has been heavily advertised on social media throughout the summer with instagram food blogger types posting about it, and while I am happy there is no shortage of customers, the pizza oven can only handle a few pies at a time and can't keep up with the hype generated. When I began to see how heavily this place was being pumped up at the beginning of the summer, bells went off in my mind signaling this sort of frenzied growth might be unsustainable. We were joking around as the hour progressed and a man fell asleep on the bench next to where we were sitting that there was an almost Fyre Fesitval lite vibe in the air. The pizza was good but overpriced. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is still a really nice experience but there is something a bit manic and unstable feeling about the whole operation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hopefully the new space will allow for a more settled operation.

Just got in with one of the last open reservations for their opening night. Best pizza I have ever had. The cornbread tiramisu was really lovely too. Also, a great and wel[[HIGHLIGHT]]coming vibe, as well as amazing wines and service. This place is stella[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]r!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Delicious food, ambiance, and service![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend the mozzarella fritti and the meatballs. So excited to come back!

Gluten-free pizza, overly charred on the edges.

Contrary to what Hilltown's Yelp page says, they are indeed open. We visited recently, excited that they serve wood-fired gluten-free pizza. The plusses are: the staff is outgoing and friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant is in a very scenic setting surrounded by leafy trees[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The minuses: the food expensive and not as great as it could be. I don't mind a char on a wood-fired pizza (that's actually the point) but the edges on our pizza verged on incineration and the middle was mushy. We went at a time they weren't all that busy, so getting the texture so wrong is mystifying. Also, the cheese was very sparse and it was mostly like eating a zucchini-topped flatbread. The cheese sticks were good, but overwhelmed by a too-thick coating of very coarse bread crumbs.

We'd heard good buzz in the local papers about this place and were lured by the appealing photos. The eatery is set on a bucolic strip of verdant land shared with an inn and a small farm brimming with roosters, geese, goats, and a few cattle. It's a self-serve type of deal and after placing our order, we eagerly awaited the mastery we'd read about. Unfortunately, I can't say we were wowed. After reading Ruth Reichl's raves about Hilltown's wood-fired meatballs, we were stunned that they were served nearly cold - the frigid dollop of ricotta didn't help - but the meatballs themselves were barely warm, a major disappointment. The fried mozzarella was very good quality and oozy, but the (rock hard) breading overwhelmed the cheese, which should have been more of a stand-out. Hilltown's fried mozz would have been so much more palatable with a light, non-rocky bread or flour coating. The pizza was a sourdough crust, wood-fired with excellent-quality toppings of soppressata, fresh basil, and cheese. The downside is, they are very stingy with the toppings and you're basically getting a great big ol' piece of wood-fired focaccia. The flavors, though, were excellent. My complaint is, everything seemed to shift towards the center of the pizza in te baking process. The bottom of the pie towards the center was paper thin and soggy, which the edges had a beautiful char on them. I understand wood-fired pizzas are a fast-bake, but it doesn't seem like the pie was monitored and shifted during the baking process. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff was very friendly and the setting beautiful, but at the prices they are charging for food, we felt as though we did not get a fair deal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bill for 2 pizzas, 2 orders of 3 golf-ball-sized meatballs, and 1 order of fried mozzarella was $127, which included tip. No drinks.

He was assisted by servers who brought food from the kitchen. We had identical meals. The black lentil soup (soup of the day) was very good. We shared a wedge salad lettuce with halved cherry tomatoes, bacon bits and chopped fried onions and it was super. I'm not big on dressing as a whole, but it was quite flavorful. We each had the smash burger. It's two thin patties made from sirloin and ribeye coated with cheddar cheese placed on chopped lettuce and tomato, resting on a fresh roll. It was hot and so juicy and delicious. The only drawback for the entire meal was that the fries were over cooked. For dessert my wife had the apple pie with ice cream, I had the brown sugar cake with coffee ice cream. Both simple, yet scrumptious. Overall a delicious meal, it seemed expensive, but we had wine. FYI, we saw others being served the fish and chips (Cod) and it looked great.

Lenox has some really cool spots and Ombra is one of them. Recommended by a local, we stopped here on Valentine's Day after our dinner for a nice glass of wine. The place was crowded but luckily a few people were leaving so we scored some seats at the bar. I ordered a glass of Nebbiolo from Italy which was good. My husband had a beer. The place is so cute and very romantic with dim lights, a great wine selection and their food looked so good. Unfortunately, we were so full that we did not end up ordering anything. Although, the french fries were calling my name. Ombra is a place that I could see us coming to almost every week and not getting tired of it. We met a local who is very nice and told us how Ombra is very popular. I think we will have to come back in the spring/summer to get those french fries :) If you are ever in Lenox definitely make your way to Ombra for a nice glass of wine or try a cocktail. This is the perfect date night spot for sure whether you start or end your evening here, you will be happy! Cheers~

What made the experience even more special was the hospitality. After the Tanglewood concert on a Sunday night, the staff recognized that many concertgoers were looking for a place to eat and graciously stayed open later to accommodate everyone. That level of customer service is rare and speaks volumes about how much they care about their guests. A Valentine's dinner that did not impress!…read more Valentine's has always been a very special holiday for me. My husband and I decided to spend the weekend in the Berkshires, which was lovely and quiet. I made reservations ahead of time for this highly rated wine bar and very close to where we were staying. First off, due to the previous weather/storms they had no street parking. But luckily we parked in a nearby lot. Upon arrival, the restaurant bar area was very nice and romantic. The server brought us to our table but I was a bit disappointed in the ambiance. I mean the bar area was a bit darker and the table that we were being seated at had a lot of light. Now, don't get me wrong, It was Valentine's day which screams romantic and there was no romantic vibe to this restaurant. After mentioning this to our server she did move us and turned down the lights a bit which was much better. Food/Drinks: The menu was not big at all which was nice. I ordered a dirty martini to start which needed more olive juice and my husband ordered a rum cocktail which he enjoyed. For starters, I ordered their Over Roasted Parsnip which was very good and filling. My husband had their Beet Salad which he said was excellent. For entrees, I had their Seared Duck Breast. I really enjoyed the caramel sauce but did not love the duck itself. My husband had the Oven Roasted Chicken Statler which was very dry he could barley eat it. Also, since this is a wine bar I will say the wines were nothing special which was also a bit disappointing. I wish they had something unique and special to offer especially being on a Valentine's Day. I feel this place may be more of a summer destination. Service: Service was excellent I will say. Our server was always asking how things were, checking on us and if we needed anything and asking about any additional drinks. etc. Also, the Manager came over to ask how everything was but he spefically looked at me. I think my husband would've mentioned his meal being dry if he looked at him as well but my husband could've spoken up too. We did say something to our server after she asked about the chicken dish, which they ended up taken off the bill which was very nice. Overall: I didn't love Alta Wine Bar my first time here, but I would come back in the spring or summer months when the weather is warm to try it again. Cheers~
