I prefer the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet for my souvenir/gift shopping, but I came to Hilo Hattie with a friend who was asked to come here by another friend with a list. I expected to find products here for a much higher price, but they actually had some good deals! I ended up getting calendars (2 for $1) and shot glasses (starting at $2.99). I'd still recommend going to the Swap Meet first though. read more

Nice at home feeling here. Upon exiting the complementary trolley, you are greeted by the staff as they give you shell leis. They also offer complementary fruit punch and water. To get the best mileage out of this trip, don't forget to get your samples of Macadamia Nut candies. The coffee shop is also very delicious, probably even better than Starbucks! Love to take the free shuttle to Hilo Hattie. Had a nice tour guide! Once you get to the front door, they welcome you with a nice seashell necklace. You also get to see the largest Hawaiian t-shirt! The store is pretty big. You can buy shirts, dresses, pants, macadamia nuts, candles, and souvenirs. While in Hawaii I went here 3 times!! Each time I bought a little something. I love the apron I bought. It's not the cheapest place to buy things but it is nice to go there, and why not? The ride there is free! read more

I have been traveling to Honolulu for over 22 years, Everything changes but always for the best. Everyone at Hilo Hatties has and is always courteous, helpful and try to make you shopping experience a memorable one. There are always coupons in the shopping guides along the streets which helps get more for your money. We were just there this past christmas and it was an amazing experience. They may not have had their seamstresses right in front of you, but nothing else has changed except they have grown with the times, are accomadating and friendly. Couldn't say enough about the store. If you don't have a car, shuttles are available soif you can take the bus to the mall there is even a hilo hatties there. If you are looking for something specific and they don't have it they will get it if they can. read more

Hilo Hatties sell some nice high end aloha shirts. Mid-end ones too. I like their products. Having said that, the main store has gone downhill and I noticed that their product selection is getting smaller. Sad to see it go south. I hope they recover, maybe put a shop in Waikiki or they will get unnoticed. read more

This is a great store to purchase beautiful hawaiian T-shirts, tops, dresses and jewelry! Went on a bus tour of most of the island and one of the stops was to Hilo Hatties! The people who work here are very helpful and friendly. I've been to the Hilo Hattie's here in Orange County but it doesn't compare to the stores located in the islands. read more

A staple shopping favorite every time I am in Honolulu. I only visited this location twice, usually as an afterthought after a trip to the original Hilo Hattie Store at Nimitz Highway,( which i just found out it has since closed.) for some nice ladies blouses and their store brand Macadamia nuts. While I liked the Nimitz Highway store (with the free shuttle trolley there from Waikiki hotels ) I find the selection in this location is more geared towards the "one price fits all" resort kind of vacationers, not to the locals or those who despise looking like every other tourist to Hawaii. This store did not have the older or more traditional patterns of Hawaiian clothing for those who are into the "authentic" or "vintage" look. The Nimitz store has always been more spacious and easier to walk around in compared to this location, the tightly packed aisles make it bothersome when you have to compete with other shoppers. However, it is a nice store to browse into when you are in Ala Moana shopping mall, staff is always courteous and the music in-house always puts you into the vacation mood. Oh and you can also use discounts coupons from the various tourist magazine they put on Oahu as well. read more

This is for the Ala Moana store, located in the parking garage. I usually don't like this one, because on our very first trip ('05), we went to the Discount version store (closed soon after BTW), but we came here on saturday. Imagine my surprise when I saw a black strapless Iolani dress- that is what actually got me in the store! It was a sexy stunning beauty, and priced at $135. When we were on vacation here, I search for Iolani- it's hard to find nowadays, except for Macy's and a few other stores, besides the website. I have a few Iolani dresses and I already have the print but it's in the cotton dobby fabric (thicker fabric). Anyway, it seemed like they carried a large selection of Iolani dresses, much to my amazement. There were some in the back, marked down to 30% off. I also browsed the other sections and noticed the Hello Kitty items (cute tote bag for $17.95). This store has gotten better. And I will have to check it out the next time we visit the island. It's a teepee- it looks small from the outside, but it is pretty deep (rectangle shaped). Don't get me wrong, it's much smaller than the Nimitz flagship store, but you can still find things here at The Store of Hawaii. read more

Being a local and not a tourist, I was quite impressed by the selection of souvenir kind stuff they got. They have tons of aloha attire from shirts, polos, mumus, dresses, etc. The staff and customer service is good. They are friendly and greet you with a warm "Aloha." I think one time one of the staff workers was trying to figure if I was a tourist or not. I thought that was funny. The store is pretty spacious with tons of souvenirs. They have many accessories and Hawaiiana stuff. The prices are quite decent. I thought that chocolates and macadamia nuts would be hecka pricey but it wasn't so bad. They have sales and specials on a good amount of stuff which is good. Towards the front by the entrance on your right, they have a mini Maui Divers Jewelry section. All the way in the back they have some pretty cool crafts made out of bamboo and other household items that you can decorated your crib in. They even have Hula outfits and such. Since I've last visited 2.5 years ago, they have gone downwards a bit. Or maybe it's no longer a fun adventure the way it used to be. It also seems like they are subleasing their space to other vendors and the choice of products have really narrowed down. If you've never been here, you definitely have to come by. But beware of prices as walmart and maybe some big supermarkets in Oahu can offer better values. Either way it's a Hawaiian chain that the unknowing have to visit. read more

Went to Hilo Hattie to see if I can find a Aloha Shirt for ladies and when I got there to the store located at Ala Moana Mall I was greeted by a Japanese sales lady who said no they did not have ladies Aloha shirts I was so shock so I walk around the store and saw this lady talking to other Japanese sales person name Nanmi who was in the counter talking their language and suddenly in the corner there it was the Aloha shirts for women, ladies etc. I was approach by other sales lady name Woori who was very helpful got the shirt so that I could try it on. And when I tried the shirt they did not have my size so she wanted me to try to see if I like a different color but I perfect I went to the counter and I spoke to Alberta who went out of her way to see if the home office had the shirt I wanted. Woori/Alberta really went out of their way to make me happy I was treated with Aloha, Coming from these to ladies Woori/Alberta this store should be very happy they have such a wonderful ladies working for them they really have gone and beyond to make it better. I called the Vice Pres of the company to tell him what had happened. read more

Friends returned from Hawaii with a gift box of "Hilo Hatties Macadamia Nut Crunch" The only problem was that we could not see or taste amy Macadamia Nuts in the candy. They must have used Macadamia Nut slivers and then chopped them up. The crunch came from crisp rice. read more

Not nearly as big as the location on Nimitz. The store front is nice and inviting, very clean inside and well organized. Big selection of Aloha Attire at a reasonable price. Only real complaint is that the store isn't big enough. Making your way around the packed sales floor between the other shoppers can be bothersome. read more

I recieved a phone call from the store, double checking the delivery address, as it didn't match the billing address. They wanted to make sure the address was correct before shipping. I had the most wonderful experience online at Hilo Hattie today. I was sending a gift from the mainland to a hotel on Maui and wasn't sure how to go about getting the items into the right hands at the hotel. When I contacted Hilo Hattie Customer Service, Ms. Leimomi Tobosa, listened to my puzzle and carefully went through the process with me checking the dates to make sure my gift did not reach the hotel before my friends and then promised to call the hotel personally to make sure all would go well.
