This place is fairly easy to find however they are lacking the exterior signage on their storefront. It's a quaint little place between Rent A Center and a cellular business. There is indoor and outdoor seating however no alcohol beverages outside so sat inside. We ordered a Garden Salad and Caprese Pizza. The salad was delivered first and the ingredients were fresh and the pizza arrived shortly after. The pizza crust was thin and crisp, the sauce has a zest to it, and although they ran out of basil, it was still a delicious pizza overall. The staff are friendly, the place is clean and the food hit the spot! I would definitely come back.

I stopped by here recently on a visit to the Big Island after a long morning spent between airports. What better way to spend lunch than at a local pizza joint? Hilo Pizza Company sells New-York style pizza comparable to the Big Apple itself using quality ingredients. Any of their choices look amazing, and if you're into a Hawaiian twist, they even offer Kalua pork as a topping option on their pizzas. Seeing as how we were going to be busy throughout the day, we opted for the lunch specials for our meal consisting of either 1 or 2 slices and a fountain drink over a whole 18" pie. Considering the location, it was an amazing deal that's hard to beat for a lunch out in town ($16 to feed two people!). For slices, the employee offered to make the slices either warm or crispy for those who like their pizza toppings and crust done a little more. Though the inside was beautiful and reminiscent of a pizza parlor in any modern city, we decided to enjoy the great weather with their outdoor seating. We loved this place and highly recommend it.

Now look at this dryed out poor baby...please come back to the Italian place of pizza....

I am from New Jersey...I am half Sicilian and half Hawaiian...now I use to come to this place when they started to open, my brother whom recommend this place with such high regard...I had to try it..I was very happy to find a place that can put anchovies on my pizza, a lot a cheese where it is almost falling off the pizza, i love that you can bend and eat it eat it too. Now fast foward to the present, I decided that I wanted to come down to our favorite pizza place and no faces were familar, the boss was not there, normally you will see him drinking a coke out side, I ordered our Pepperoni extra cheese, it looked like they forget to add some extra cheese...I confronted the gent, and he just looked at me like I had two heads..Here is what two pizza's one was the old one and now look at this poor dried out guy over cooked.

Passable pizza in Hilo. We needed something quick to have in our B&B after a long day at Volcanoes NP - our teen jumped on Yelp and selected Hilo Pizza Company. We called and ordered two large pizzas - pepperoni and bruschetta - for pick up, along with a chocolate chip cookie and a fountain soda. We drove up to the brightly lit plaza which houses HPC in the drizzle and the fog. The pizza was ready within the 25 minutes they promised it would be. The establishment was small but elegant, and the service was friendly. Total was a little over $50 before tip, and we paid cash. Back in our room, we popped open the pizzas and enjoyed them. They were fresh but didn't blow me away - I preferred the bruschetta, the others enjoyed the pepperoni more. Strangely enough, both pizzas tasted better the next day, which meant we didn't have to buy dinner the following evening! So I am glad we ordered from Hilo Pizza Company!

Nothing much was open in the area when we came back from watching the sunset at Mauna Kea, so we opted for pizza. The staff was very lovely and ambiance felt "homey" with the way they chatted with customers. $21 for an 18 inch pepperoni pizza was a great deal - just perfect for 2 hungry people. Pizza was good and had a nice crust. Self-served soda machine (hence free refills) was a plus!

If we lived in the area (we came over from O'ahu to visit family), this would be our go-to pizza place. In fact, we came here twice in three days because we loved the pizza that much! Nice crispy crust, not too thick, not too thin - just perfectly right. As a pizza snub, I first was resistant to my husband's pick of the Reuben. We got the Bruschetta and Reuben toppings and they each were oh so ono. In fact, for our second visit, we just got the Reuben and were in pizza heaven. My husband's cousin, who lives in Hilo and had not heard of this place, said she will be a new regular. Highly recommended!

We came here twice and both times pizza was on point. We recently traveled to NY and had such great pizza there and this place is the closest we could find to the pizza we had in NY city. It is so affordable and staff is super friendly. Will return again for sure.

Fresh fast great pizza. Small little shop, no sign outside so I drove right past it at first. Had to really look for it. The best way to spot it is the crowd of people eating and hanging out the door. Only service 1 size pizza or by the slice. But the selection by the slice is pre-selected. I went to order and they said they would do a split pizza because my daughter only wanted pepperoni and I wanted to add pineapple and jalapeño to my half. I must of had a new a new teammate because I the middle of my order another teammate had to come take over. I explained to her what I was wanted. I thought the prize was high but the. Again everything in Hawaii is high, however the mix up was I ended up getting 2 pizzas. Opps. They were going to reimburse me money but hey the pizza was good, and how doesn't love leftovers. So we boxed up the extra pizza after sharing a couple extra slices with our other friends and the pizza made the trip all the way to Honolulu to share with our family that couldn't come to the big island. The only downside is I wish they had more than 1 size, or maybe more choices when it comes to the premade slices.

Growing up in an Italian household, food was literally at the center of attention. When it came to pizza we'd argue all the time about how to make the best dough, what kind of herbs and spices to put into sauce, and what best combination of toppings to add. At the end of the day, we'd still be arguing while enjoying our pizza. What I love about Hilo Pizza Company is my Ohana agrees they make a great-tasting pizza. I first heard of Hilo Pizza from an event I attended. They were serving a variation of their signature pizzas. A few bites in, I had to ask where they ordered the pizza from. The host smiled and said, "From the best pizza place in town". Curious, I had to go see for myself. They've got a really cool spot that's street-style NYC chic with a subtle island flare. Honestly, I stared at the menu for a few minutes trying to decide which pizza to try first. I was in a tummy dilemma, torn between the Kalua, Reuben, Bruschetta, or creating my own BBQ pizza with fresh mozzarella, red onions, mushroom, sausage, chicken breast, jalapeno, basil, pecorino Romano, and how many more toppings should I add on this pizza... Luckily I had an appointment to be at, so I had to make a fast-n-furious decision ordering the Italian Special. OMG...The pizza was DELICIOUS!!! The pizza dough is authentic to its Italian origin's and the quality of the toppings are premium. The crust was cooked to perfection and all the fresh layered flavors echoed within my palate. My wife and I met some friends there for pizza. The pizza was as good as any I have had and was huge. The staff was really friendly. If you want pizza on the Hilo side of the island I highly recommend them. I will be going back. read more

I've been to Hilo Pizza Company a couple of times in the past, and it's more of the New York style pizza. Service is great overall but you may have to wait a while for your order depending on how busy they are (unless you phone in your order ahead of time). You can customize your pizza and calzone. They also have salads and other menu items. read more

Pizzas look great. However I struggle to understand the lack of a veggie pizza option besides a margarita style bruschetta. Build your own pizza at $2-3 per item is ridiculously overpriced. Customer service lacked when we inquired what other vegetarian options were available. read more

After a long day of hiking my kids were starving and they were craving pizza. Side note they do need to update their menu because they do not offer any sandwiches. We ordered a large bruschetta pizza. The taste is great. Thin crust pizza, delicious crust. My only complaint is the amount of toppings on the pizza were very scarce. I thought the amount of basil and even tomatoes were small in comparison to the size of the pizza. Also a small tip to the restaurant, adding some fresh basil on top would make it even better. Overall restaurant size and interior is great. Small and clean. read more

Convenient location, friendly service, and decent pizza. The only grumble I have is that they're a little stingy on the toppings. Ordered the Rueben Pizza and there was hardly any corned beef or sauerkraut. Now I don't need the meat sweats but a little more meat and sauerkraut will go a long way. The 3 starts is because they're literally one of 2 locally owned pizza joints and if you want repeat customers and locals to keep this business afloat, an adjustment to the amount of toppings will go a long way. read more

We went to Hilo Pizza Co to meet up with extended family that we have not seen for a very long time. The owner was extremely friendly and made sure that we had everything we needed for an awesome reunion. Pizza was great and so were the Kona Big Waves! We had about 15-20 people and while it may have been a little overwhelming for them, they took great care of us and even pushed tables together so we could all sit with one another. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area or looking for a cool pizza spot for a slice and a drink! Thank you! read more

My food review for this week goes to an amazing little pizza shop located direct behind McDonald's on Kanoelehua right next to Kia Kamauu's State Farm. Hilo Pizza Company They have a decent menu with a lot of selections including healthy salads, Vegan and even gluten free pizza options. They do have a lunch special of about $10 which is 2 slices of pizza and a drink. What I really like most about Hilo Pizza Company is the simple pizza crust. It's very New York Style. Flat and crunchy crust. Seasonings are great, too. White sauces have the right amount of garlic while the red sauce tastes more garden style with a zing from the spices. I've tried pepperoni, cheese, Kalua Pork BBQ pizzas. I've also tried their calzone made the way you or I want it. It looks more like a Stromboli, but it's their version of a calzone which still tasted amazing to me. I also like their Caesar salad doesn't have anchovies in the dressing. It helps to know that because I always feel swayed if there is an overpowering of too much anchovies in Caesar dressing. Theirs doesn't have the anchovies so it makes it simple, easy, and tasteful. The music is a whole lot of smooth jazz and Boney James. Just forewarning in case you are wanting something more upbeat. In all of my posts, I don't know the owners. They never beforehand know that I am posting a review for them. I just want to support local and keep money circulating in our local economy. What I have learned, though, is that the owners are already involved in Hilo community theater which is appreciated and gives me more motivation to support them. They are here. They are rooted here and as we invest into them, they in turn have invested into our community, too, through the arts. By us supporting them, it gives them the ability to give back to our community by performing for us. Nice variety of pizzas to choose from and option to create your own pizza. We ordered 2 pizzas. Their large sized pizzas gave plenty of leftovers for next day breakfast and lunch. The pizzas were thin crust, on the chewy side, but good dipped in olive oil and balsamic to help it go down. Overall the flavors were very good! read more

We had the Italian Special today. This is the best pizza I have ever had. Deliciously gourmet!!!!! And for the record, when ordering Italian Sausage on uour pizza, you get legitimate, larger chunks of REAL Italian Sausage, not small little rabbit turds like the chain restaurants. We meant to take pictures but we are the pizza so fast it was too late! Really great pizza and a comfortable environment - highly recommend if you are on this side of the island! We had a bruschetta pizza (really unique flavors and perfect crisp / chew crust... we also had a 1/2 + 1/2 Italian and Hawaiian (pineapple and prosciutto - and before we get any comments about pineapple on pizza - we had 2 kids with us who wanted Hawaiian pizza in Hawai'i!). Both combinations were high quality, and really great flavors - not overpowering. Bravo! So happy we stopped in here!!! read more

The chicken pesto pizza was very good. This is a good flavor combination their pesto was flavorful. The hand tossed crust was crispy and chewy, just the way I like it. Sometimes the thin crust gets soggy the longer it sits out but this one did not get soggy at all. There was one piece left and the next day I popped it in the toaster oven and it was still very good, but it's best eaten hot and fresh. Definitely going back to try another one soon. read more

Pizza options were awesome. We went with chicken, Jalapeños, bell peppers. The thing I loved the most is that they have pink sauce (marinara and garlics white sauce) on the menu they have won my pizza heart with that alone. The people were friendly and ready to help. Store has indoor and outdoor seating available which makes it nice to enjoy a slice fresh out of the oven. I think next time I'll try the Rueben pizza it sounds very interesting. read more

Best pizza I've had on the island. Bruschetta much like a margarita. Didn't much care for the pesto as I found it mostly salt, but I'm also really only a margarita lover so I'm sure it's better than I'm giving it credit for! Anyway, if you want pizza in Hilo, this is the place to go. read more

Not a good pizza. I had gone there to just have a slice. They only had three offerings. $6 for slice and drink. The crust was like stale old bread. The server did not warm it up but 30 seconds or so. The cheese was not warm nor was the sauce I remember this place years ago and it had been sold with their recipes and such but I don't think so. I always try to give a place a second chance, but this was so overwhelmingly disappointing. I could've gone to Little Caesar's. read more

The service was excellent. We went on a Saturday night and appreciated being told it may take a bit longer because they were short staffed that evening. We stayed and we're not disappointed. We both had calzones and they were fresh out of the oven and very tasty. Ambience is fine being it's in a large strip mall. Inside the restaurant well maintained with excellent signage. The pizza shop sits under a dedicated tent inside the main brewery area. It's a fun little pizza oven with all pies made to order. The menu is clear to see with an ever-changing selection of special pizzas. On our visit we tried two different and loved both. Portion sizes are great for one super hungry person or get a few different ones and share with a group. We tried a plain cheese but the herbs and spices made it something special. The limited pizza we tried on our visit was an ode to Switzerland with thinly sliced meat, pickles, and three distinct kinds of Swiss cheese. It was a great combination to have with our beer flights. They offer food to eat in or to go; seating is shared with the brewery either at the indoor bar or outdoor umbrella tables. This is a recommended place to eat on your next brewery adventure.

BUT, the Jackie Rey's in Hilo has now become our go-to fine restaurant in Hilo town. The building is classic. An old town Hilo bank, with the vault intact. High ceilings, comfortable tables and decore and an artistic antique wooden bar that would be a gem in the crown of any European city. The management and personnel are the most wonderful people. Always happy to accommodate you in the best way they can. After one kamaaina visit the servers will know your name. They'll make you feel welcome and that you are a part of their experience too, something that is nearly impossible to find in other town dining. They have rewards programs for kamaaina which includes a point system that gives you significant savings on your next visit. The food is first rate, from the pupus to the main dishes to the desserts. Sauced and presented in five star fashion, without feeling pretenious. We will be their peskiest and most loyal customer as long as we are in the area. Kudos to Jackie Rey's Hilo.
