Just checked in last night before leaving on a cruise with Regent. I traveled extensively throughout my career...35 years worth. I have never been so appalled by a hotel room. The closet doors are broken, the room is shabby, old, and smelly. The bathroom barely has room for my toothbrush and it looks like, at best, they updated the room in the 1980's or 1990's. The only positive is at least the bed is comfortable. The pictures here I just took after awakening this morning following a 21-hour travel day. I will be contacting both Regent and Hilton. I'm not a complaining type of person but this is so unacceptable. Hilton should be embarrassed to have their name on this building and to start a "luxury" cruise like this isn't a positive. read more

I rather disappointing experience for someone who stays in hotels 2 weeks a month. Diamond members usually get room upgrades to include a view. This is prob the worst view you can get. (Normally I don't care. But when I travel to amazing locations. It matters to me.) I came to Alaska for the 1st time ever. And I gotta stare out at HVACS. The tower has 22 floors and the other west side of hotel has 15 floors. You are telling me.... This is the best room for a diamond member? At least give me a view of downtown. There was no upper lobby or social room to hang out and enjoy the views. There is no executive lounge. (Main reason why I choose flagship hotel.) I would rather work from a lounge than my hotel room. There are ALOT of senior cruise patrons spending the night. The lobby can get really crowded and breakfast. staff members seemed pretty busy and unfortunately takes a slight decline on services. (I don't blame them at all. Some of these cruisers can be high maintenance. The room was clean. But certain. Outlets did not work. Which was really annoying. Bc I like to charge my cellphone on my bed side. But had to find a working outlet across the room. Not a big deal in the big picture, but one would expect a room that works. I will be back to Anchorage in a few weeks. But will have to change hotels as the expense, lack of membership perks is not worth it at all. Parking is across the block. The location is great! Maybe the best hotel in Anchorage? Located downtown this classic location is still a great option. Beds are super soft. Rooms well equipped for your comfort. Wasn't going to stay here but I had to extend my stay in Alaska an extra night and my hotel would not let me extend another night so I had to look elsewhere and gave the Hilton a try and am glad I did. To start, I had an absolutely horrible meal at their restaurant. TThe fusion bowl consists of about 4-6 cups of white rice, with a few vegetables thrown on top and a compoletely tasteless "miso" broth. I added salmon, which was about 1/8 of an inch thick and cooked until it was hard. When we got to our room, the temperature was 76 degrees. The air conditioner did nothing to cool the room. Other members is our group had the same problem and all the hotel would do is give us a box fan. I'm a Hilton Honors member and have never had this bad an experience in another Hilton. I stayed at this hotel April 22nd, 2026 and entered their on-site restaurant for dinner. A bar tender was serving a single customer at the bar while a sever was waiting on a single table of 4 people. Neither would acknowledge me and I stood there confused for about 5 minutes as whether I was to seat myself or wait for them to greet me. I finally seated myself and about 4-5 minutes later of just trying to make eye contact with both staff members did the bar tender come with a menu and water. I explained that I waited at the entrance but within sight of both staff and I should have been greeted. He explained he was busy and I could have come up to the bar and that I chose to sit at a table with no menus on it as if I made these "mistakes" by choice. I did see menus at other tables but I wanted to sit at nice long wooden table and don't feel that I made any mistake in doing so. He asked what he could get me but I responded I needed him to listen and with that he turned his back to me and walked away from me. The not greeting someone is an honest mistake or lack of understanding about good service which I wanted a conversation with him for him to understand how to correct for the future. Turning his back and walking away from me is an intentional rudeness. I left the restaurant and cancelled my hotel reservation. I asked for a manager and told the restaurant manager what happened and he offered to have a conversation together with the staff members and me. I declined and left. That night I contacted Hilton corporate office with my complaint and not hearing back Friday April 24th stopped at the Hotel and asked for the manager and was told he was a busy man which made me feel my complaint isn't important enough and I'm just a waste of time. I did speak with the assistant manager Maria who listened to my story but since in the 2 days since the incident had not spoken with the staff didn't quite have any response for me other other than to say what happened wasn't to their standards. I left not knowing what the hotels standards are. I'm a loyal Hilton diamond member and stay over 100 nights a year at Hilton and have never had this experience until staying at this hotel. What started as a small incident has since snowballed. The hotel staff knew about the incident but hasn't prioritized addressing the incident. Maria had said what happened wasn't the hotels standards but didn't offer to mention what those standards are. This makes me think not up to our standards is a way of saying I don't have an actual answer for you and they may or may not have any written standards. Maria mentioned getting a sign that instructs restaurant patrons to wait to be seated or seat yourself but after thinking about this solution I feel cheapens the service experience of a sit down restaurant and feel the staff should be hired and trained in good service to greet customers and if they're busy greet them with saying I'm busy but I'll be with you shortly. This Hilton Anchorage is more expensive than the Hilton Garden inn and Hampton inn I ended up staying at which both have free parking vs $25 at Hilton Anchorage. This Hotel isn't a good value so what I expect from them is at good service and at this point I want the busy general manager to contact me himself with his response to what happened because I know I'm worth him time and if not then he's not worth my business. What has started as a minor incident has kept snowballing into more issues and questions. I've stayed about 400 nights in Hiltons over the last 4 years and never had an experience like this. I would not recommend staying here not just about the original incident but about the hotels lack of response and lack of prioritizing my concern and lack of accessibility to speak with the upper management at the Hotel. The Hotel is expensive compared to the Hilton Garden inn or Hampton or Homewood Suites and I don't feel it's a great value other than location in downtown Anchorage which the other mentioned hotels are not located at so I don't know what they have to offer and why I would ever stay again. I've replied back to Hilton corporate about my complaint explaining that I'll need a full response by end of day April 25th. read more

I stayed here on my visit to Alaska. I would agree with others that this is a rundown Hilton, definitely not what I expected for my stay at a Hilton. The main perk for staying here was the location. It is walking distance to all the restaurants, theater for musicals, trolley tour and not too far from Tony Knowles Coastal Trail if you plan on biking or hiking there. Customer service: friendly staff but hard to get a hold of if you try to call from your room. Parking: It is $15/day and you need to inform the hotel during check in. They would deduct it from your payment. The parking spots are not covered & limited so there may be a chance where you enter the lot and there are no spots left. If this occurs, let the hotel know and they will comp back the $15, but you'll need to find parking elsewhere. I hear street parking right outside the hotel is free until 8am (may want to reconfirm). There is also a pay for parking lot walking distance from hotel, but I'm not sure on cost. Pros: -Location, Location, Location -Convenience store connected to the hotel -Lock/Safe in the room -Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel, Lotion, Towels and Room service (this is a given for Hiltons though) -Elevators were surprisingly fast -Black out curtains -Workout center and pool available for those interested in utilizing it Cons: -The room was old -The washroom is small -Not sound proof, you can hear people in the hallways, guests next door -can hear the streets if it is loud and the train once in awhile (bring your ear plugs if you are a light sleeper) -Ice machine was broken/not working on our floor and the floor above...had to go through different floors to find one that was functioning -No refrigerator in the room -no free parking read more

For a place to bed, this isn't really a bad hotel but it lacks. I've stayed at this Hilton twice now but only because the groups I traveled with insisted. The hotel has a nice lobby and a really pleasant staff, which is the only reason I'm giving them two stars + because the bed was comfortable. But that's a generous as I'm feeling. Ping ....... Ping ..........ping .... Where is that sound coming from? After a while I got up and realized the shower was dripping onto a metal plate. The shower valve was as tight as it would go so I threw a towel on the plate and when back to bed. Woosh ..... woosh .... Woooosh .... Why is the toilet making that sound? Got out of bed again and tried flushing and shaking the valve. Seemed to work, went back to bed. .. 2h later .... woosh .... Ear plug time! The 2nd night was better. The drip in the shower continued but the towel on the floor stopped any pinging sound and the toilet demon/kami must have moved to pester another guest. Is this hotel haunted? It sure is one of the ugliest buildings I have seen. From the outside the architecture appears to be montage of an air traffic control tower plus cubic lego blocks, but that didn't bother me as much as the lack of a good nights rest. read more

Beautiful hotel in a great location in Downtown Anchorage. The lobby was clean and very large, giving the feel of a high class place where all the movers and shakers gather. The staff was professional and very polite. The room was clean and smelled good. The bed was very comfortable and the room provided a nice view of downtown. Unfortunately there were a few issues with the room that were difficult to overlook. When I arrived I got settled in the room. The room was at 70° but was set to cool. I left and met up with family and friends. When I returned around midnight, the room was showing 74°. I turned the thermostat down and the air conditioning kicked on but would only run for 15 seconds and would shut off for about a minute. It continued to cycle like that, so I attempted to call the front desk to inquire about the issue and there was no answer on 2 separate occasions. So I just gave up and shut the whole system off and went to bed. The surrounding plaster around the access to the air conditioning panel was all broken out and if the previous occupants tried to access the AC unit and just ended up ruining the wall. The next morning I had to leave. I tried to turn on the cold water but the handle was broken and would spin freely, not allowing the valve to open, so I just used hot water. However, the most disturbing thing was the hotel provided Shampoo and Conditioner; they had been previously used. There was a few drops left in the containers, so I just rinsed my hands off and used the unopened body wash to wash up for my trip home. As stated, a beautiful hotel with good amenities, but just a few too many issues that could easily be fixed. read more

We didn't love this expensive stay. Here are the pluses and minuses from our experience over three nights here: -- charged us for extra parking when we didn't have a car --reversing the parking charges took three phone calls, and we were asked to prove we didn't park there (wtf?!) --chaotic check in with new employees fending for themselves (it looked stressful for them) --no complementary coffee / tea in the morning (this is a small minus--a bigger minus is how hard it was to buy coffee from the lobby coffee counter due to new employees fending for themselves). I only bought coffee here once in four day stay--it was distressing to witness the scramble and confusion on untrained employees getting drip coffee without cream --brutal customer service on the phone about the parking charges. Mae didn't seem aware of her words as she accused us about lying about not having a car to park. She was super pleasant and insulting simultaneously. I'm not sure a Woody Allen script could have captured of weird nuances in these overly long phone calls. In the end, Hilton did reverse the charge. --we walked by the parking lot on our way to dinner: minimally secured and super sketchy . I would not park an invisible car there (see above) Pluses: --comfortable room and bed with good quality sheets and towels --clean --quiet --awesome water pressure with ample hot water --decent view --they refreshed the room daily! I forgot that hotels did that!!! I think we can do better than this hotel the next time we're in town. Hard pass for us unless we want to spend 45 minutes helping future Mae do her job. read more

We had two nights in town at the Hilton in downtown anchorage at the end of a 2 week trip, mostly organized by a cruise line. We chose this hotel for our last 2 nights as we're Hilton gold members and fierce brand loyalists and this is basically the only Hilton brand hotel available. We appreciate the few extra amenities you get when you have earned status and the general familial nature of being at a Hilton. The Anchorage Hilton is among the couple nicer hotels in town. Our first night was at the standalone Captain Cook which has probably the grandest lobby in Anchorage but we didn't think the room was as nice as at the Hilton...slightly more updated though not quite as nice or new as other Hiltons we've stayed at. Check in was great...the person who helped us in the HHonors line was super nice and even though an upgrade was available, she gave as a personal recommendation to stay on the higher floor in the original room as it had a better view...and it certainly did! Spectacular view of the water, Sleeping Lady Mountain, and the train staton below. The room was clean...the bathroom especially was updated and we were very comfortable in it. We love that the fitness room is open 24 hours...I tend to use it late at the end of the day and it's disappointing to be at a hotel where their fitness room is closed by the time I get back...so, thanks for that, Hilton Anchorage! We were at the end of an escorted trip which had us waking up super early prior to our arrival almost every day...so we were happy to sleep in with a "Privacy Please" sign hanging on our door handle. At about 9am housekeeping slipped a note under the door explaining that out of respect for our Do Not Disturb sign, they would not be servicing our room. 9am felt a little early for house-keeping to give up on a room that still had people on it...especially since checkin isn't until 4pm. We left the room about 10am and used the chat feature in the Hilton app to request the room be serviced. The agent assured us it would. When we arrived back at the hotel a little after 6pm, the room hadn't been refreshed. On the way out to dinner, we stopped by the front desk to and mention this so they could alert the team and hopefully improve for future guests...The front desk agent we spoke with told us that they don't automatically service rooms unless asked. That seemed strange since, based on the note housekeeping slipped under our door, it seemed like they were on the way to automatically servicing our room until they encountered the Do Not Disturb sign. So that didn't quite align itself with the front desk agent's statement that rooms are not automatically serviced unless asked. We tried to explain again but she didn't seem to quite understand. I mean either they automatically service rooms or they don't...and if they don't, why would they put a note under our door saying that weren't going to because of the do not disturb sign? We asked to speak to the hotel manager...the night manager (Tuesday, July 2nd) came out and seemed to agree with what we were saying, and said he would discuss with the housekeeping team, the agent who we originally chatted with, and the front desk agent who we just spoke with. But the way he spoke to us was condescending, he never smiled once, and at one point in trying to communicate what had happened he used the phrase "I heard you the first time." I'm wondering where in Hilton management training do they cover using phrases like "I hear you the first time" in a customer service based industry to loyal customers who aren't happy with something. We left the encounter feeling, not understood, unwelcome and with a deep desire to never return to the Hilton in Anchorage. Also, the next day we wanted help getting a cab as the transfer the cruiseline had arranged for us was running late and we needed to get the airport...when we asked the front desk to help with this, they instructed us to go outside and hail one. Outside of check-in just about every interaction with Hilton staff (including the night manager) left us feeling these folks aren't really useful at all. As I said, we're brand loyalists. We always pick Hilton brand hotel and have done so for years. We generally love what's offered, have never had a problem of any kind before, and always do our best to treat the staff who work in any service position with respect and gratitude. And we didn't actually need anything done or weren't ansking for any kind of solution or compensation. We were just trying to communcate what happened. We didn't get the above and beyond service we usually get at Hiltons at this hotel and are super disappointed. read more

Eek. Appearances aren't everything. The exterior looks nice, as does the lobby. The lobby being sort of large but not large enough for the mass amounts of folks waiting on tour buses, it gets full fast. The coffee bar and restaurant was decent but way overpriced. The room appeared nice and clean. Our first night was comfortable enough in the beds, the next morning taking my shower the towels to dry off with had bugs in them. Yuck!! Not sure when it became normal to store clean towels in the underbellies of the bathroom sinks. The bugs weren't alive, but still it was not a welcome site. Literally the worst Hilton property I have stayed at and I have been to many all over the country. This hotel was booked through Holland America's cruise tour. The hotel was not ready for us when we came mid afternoon. They had no system to let us know that the room was ready. The lobby seating is lacking and not really comfortable. The rooms are archaic and thread worn with no fridge or microwave. The A.C. did not work. Our room was leaking water through the lighting fixture on our morning of checkout. We were moved and even though we asked for a late checkout because of this (and my wife was sick) they would not accommodate us for even one minute. If you are thinking of taking a trip that involves this hotel consider any other options as this place is at best substandard. Not Recommended. read more

To be clear, this hotel is essentially a way-station for travelers catching a ship to somewhere else. So, expect chaos in the lobby. We spent two nights here, also catching a ship. Our room was terrible: smelled of cigarette smoke covered in cherry room spray; no telephone in the room (I had to call the front desk from my cell phone, tried three times, 1st time 25 rings, 2nd time 15 rings quick pickup and hold, 3rd time 20 rings, never answered); room AC is the old in-wall type with rattles and smells; bed was so soft our backs ached next day; shower amenities the bolt-to-wall quality with thin towels; breakfast food marginal; no room service; be sure to book dinners at restaurants outside the hotel! (there are some good ones, strongly recommend Snow City Cafe for breakfast and lunch). The challenge here is...well, where else are you going to go? Get in, get out, set expectations low, you'll be fine. read more

They told me they only had one housekeeping staff working. Really? This is a 15 story hotel! Also, they only had ice machines on the odd floors. Third floor's didn't work. This place is a total dump. I did early online check in and room selection after researching the best rooms for the view for something nice to wake up to after traveling 22 hours. After my first flight I got notice they updated my room. The first room they placed me in was a literal brick wall, not the "mountain view" I paid extra for. The second room was just a better view of another wall. And when I called again about the disappointing room they downgraded me to, that had the smallest sink ever, a disgusting tub with chips in it, and a cement wall with cracks and paint flaking off it under the windows, they told me they'd bring me a key to another room and that was about 20 minutes ago. I just want to go to bed, wake up, and this nightmare of a hotel to be behind me. So I wait half an hour for the key, go down to check in it. Ana tells me that I picked the wrong room, then realizes she's wrong. So I ask who told me a key was coming in half an hour and "she's a new hire we don't even know her name", it was Ana. Basically, you can keep your shitty room with paint chipping off the wall, the leaking bathroom, and talk to a manager in the morning. She probably lied about her name too honestly, the whole thing is sketchy. read more

So we stayed here for five nights, in two rooms. The stay was ok, but nothing great. Cons: Older hotel, but there was some remodeling going on in the rooms next to us. There was remodeling going on in the rooms next to us. We did hear some work, but not bad. The air conditioner did not work in our room. The was a constant flow of heat coming from a wall vent that could not be controlled. We had the window open for the whole stay. Our room was in the NE corner overlooking the train depot and Air Force Base. There was some daytime train and jet noise. I like trains and planes so this does not bother me, but some may not like it. The Diamond Lounge is still closed. The deluxe king room is very small by today's standards. Pros: The staff is outstanding. Again, the staff is outstanding. An easy and safe walk to many great restaurants and bars. Great Hilton beds and bedding. The staff. Bottom line, I would stay here again. read more

As a Hilton honors diamond member, I always hesitate to write anything but perfect reviews for Hilton hotels. In this case it just seems warranted to let other consumers know what to expect at this hotel. The location itself is wonderful, with a convenient walk to all of downtown Anchorage. The views on the high floors are excellent, with water views throughout. The pool is small but comfortable, the hot tub was excellent, and the gym spacious. Regrettably the air quality in the hotel is among the worst I've ever experienced, and I would not stay there again. The staff was acceptable, though unexceptional throughout our four night stay. The restaurant is on the expensive side for a standard breakfast buffet, even with the diamond member credit we still chose to go to other restaurants most days. The hotel is expensive, but so are most of the hotels in that part of Alaska. If you do choose this hotel, be aware that the sounds from train horns last quite early in the morning. Overall the location and view are the main reasons to stay - otherwise there are better options in the downtown Anchorage area. read more

The bright spot is the front desk manager who really has the right attitude and will patiently and clearly explain the big picture. She should run the place. OK, we were concerned about this hotel when we read past reviews. But our experience wasn't too bad. Yes, there were some issues but overall it was good. It was easy checking in and out. We got a room in the east tower on the 20th floor. The room was clean and in pretty good shape. Nothing too terribly wrong. Here were our issues. The heat didn't seem to work. When we got up, we couldn't heat up the room. The water temperature in our shower varied quite a bit. It went from warm to very hot frequently so we had to keep readjusting the handle. That was it. With all the cruise passengers checking in and out, the lobby was a zoo but we expected that. read more

You know how sometimes when you order something online, it looks a lot nicer in photos and the actual product you get is disappointing? This is the hotel equivalent of that. The lobby makes the hotel seem a lot nicer than it actually is. The main thing this hotel has going for it is its location since it's downtown. Plenty of food, drink, and souvenir shop options within walking distance. I stayed in a room with a king size bed and there was hardly any space. I thought a hotel I stayed at in Times Square was small until I saw this room. I had a stunning view of another building directly across from the room. One of the lights was flickering which made the room feel haunted. On the bright side, the place was decently clean, checking in and out was easy enough, and the incidentals hold on my account was dropped a day or two after checkout. Hilton flagships are usually "dumps" (other than the lobbies), but this one is like the dump you are trying your best to avoid. I think this is probably the worst or one of the worst rooms I've ever stayed in. Everything is clearly old in the room. That's not necessarily bad, but it really shows here. My shower handle was broken, and it took like 10 minutes to fiddle with it to get it to hot. Once I did, I had to shower in scalding water because I couldn't get it back. After finishing, it took another 10 minutes to try to turn the water off (I was at the point of locating the shut off valve, to no avail). I finally got it off. The AC just blows air, but it doesn't seem to do anything else. It's naturally one of the old wall controls where the buttons (yeah, hello 1980) are so hard to press that you just give up. There are 2 good things about this place. Well, 3. First, the bath towels are actually usable and a normal size for a human. Second, the cookies (albeit somewhat stale) in the lobby. Stayed here after a company holiday party. The company held its banquet here. First- they do NOT valet as advertised on their website. Once parked in their "valet" drive through it was near impossible to get back out because someone had parked in front of us and blocked us in. Went to check in, but the front desk stated we weren't "on the list" with the company (my husband is in management and we were checking in next to someone wearing company uniform). We were told to find somewhere else to go. Wow. Are they too full?? No, because I checked online to book a room and they had vacancies. We waited 30 mins for the same people to just say "oh, we can book you a room at the company party rate" as they should've just said in the first five mins. Bad customer service. Checked into an extremely dated room with sagging ceilings and mold. I was afraid the ceiling would collapse, the damage was that bad. Bathroom was so small and cramped. The faucets leaked water all night. I'd never stay here again. read more

Mixed feelings for this hotel. Great location. Walking distance from the Alaska Rail station. Traveling by rails while in the state, arriving late and leaving early to catch a train, it was important that we can just walk to/from the train station. Curtain in the room didn't completely close, especially important during a summer month if you want to sleep. Service: I understand they are understaffed and sold out. I tried to help by checking on the app and requested for digital key. They couldn't get to it to release to me prior to my arrival although my room was already available. I could have skipped a lobby if they could just pushed a digital key to my phone. Restaurant: may want to just skip here and look somewhere else. They are understaffed too. One more positive note: I liked two large bears at the lobby. read more
