My parents have been bringing their cars here for over a decade, and always had good things to say…read more Fast forward: After moving out and heading down to Philadelphia for school, I ran into a nasty pot hole on 611 that left one of my car wheels having a nasty bend. Worried that my tire would inevitably start to lose air, I made the jaunt back home and to Pontarellis. Left the car Saturday morning and received a call a couple hours later saying that they unfortunately could not repair the wheel (it was aluminum and its chrome covering would be ruined when it got melted down), but could get a replacement for $225. That seemed high to me for a wheel, though it is relatively premo, so I asked them if I could try to get the part myself. They were absolutely fine with it, and did not take offense at all. After checking some local used part dealers, I found a replacement wheel for $175, so, yes, Pontarellis was adding a premium to the part, but not by very much, especially factoring in delivery. I brought the wheel in Monday morning and received a call that afternoon that the car was all fixed up. Here is the really awesome part: they charged me $20 total for labor in switching the wheel out and physically transferring my tire from one wheel to another. This isn't a junky place, and I know my folks have gotten some very substantial and quality work done here before (including transmission replacement, air conditioner repair, numerous inspections, etc.). For them to have what I'm sure is significant overhead and let me not only find a part myself but charge next to nil for their labor is pretty darn awesome. This place is the antithesis of an advantage-taking, price-gouging mechanic. Highly recommended.
