The bell desk staff are super nice and helpful. Check in was meh. Our room is small. Parking wasn't communicated. I asked for a pack & play when I booked the room and had to ask two more times for it to be brought up. The lounge is a joke. Cheese and wilted rabbit food. Not worth anyone's time. This has to be one of the nicest Hilton I've ever stayed at! The pool was very clean and welcoming. Very nice thick beach towels for the chairs. The indoor pool was very nice as well! I was on the executive floor, which has a lounge that served breakfast evening hors d'oeuvres and then late night dessert, as well as many beverages. The only downside I would say is that they have a niche, coffee machine that dispenses 19 different things, and it's only one, so the line to get just a black cup of coffee in the morning. Would some times take 5 to 7 minutes, considering standing in line behind people who are trying to decide if they wanted a café Americano or a hot chocolate or a frosty cool coffee. My recommendation for Hilton would be to invest in just a black coffee dispenser as well for all of us that just want our morning coffee. There was fresh fruit each morning, scrambled eggs and eggs, omelette with bacon and spinach, toast, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, etc. The nighttime snacks were also very nice. There was salads every night along with a fresh charcuterie board, and some type of hot hors d'oeuvres. Desserts after 8:30 included pecan pie, chocolate cake, vanilla and strawberry cheesecake or fruit. I would definitely stay at this location again ! We were staying at the hotel Thursday and Friday night because we were attending a wedding nearby and this was the recommended hotel for the wedding guests. The lobby is nice but the parking garage is not. There was no working gate and it looked like it had been broken for a long time. Disappointing for a Hilton brand hotel. The room was spacious but a little dated. We got a takeout breakfast sandwich from the restauarant and had a Cobb salad from the patio bar and grill by the pool. Large, well situated hotel with a convention oriented presentation that doesn't adversely affect family visits/stays. Comfortable room, fast, elevators, and a nice lobby. Fantastic indoor pool with a well set up locker room that includes shower and sauna across the street from an upscale mall with all kinds of Great shopping and food. We stayed here for three nights and would stay here again if the opportunity presented itself. Easy access to Newark airport for about $35 Uber ride as I recall. Only criticism is that the front desk staff, although efficient and capable, we're not overly friendly or welcoming, and, quite frankly, did not seem to be enjoying their job very much. We were in town to attend a wedding, and while this is no longer the time honored legacy high-end Hilton that used to be, it certainly meets the basic requirements expected at a standard Hilton. Upon arrival, we quickly noticed that the commitment to quality that they had proudly displayed for years is no longer evident. The pathway to the underground garage is strewn with old broken technology, and once you do arrive at the door a couple of levels down, the area had trash and cigarette butts in the parking area - it should be easy to fix, and it's lazy that it wasn't addressed. Upon check-in, the staff was quite friendly and efficient, and they were kind enough to point out a sign that they had a shuttle service prepared to take guests to the wedding on Saturday - the challenge is that the wedding was on Friday - again I'm sure that they were prepared, but it's just poor preparation that they had signage for the wrong day. The room itself was decent, and while it was on the executive floor, it seems that the executive lounge was closed all day on Friday with no explanation - it's a shame that they didn't tell us about this in advance. I felt very secure in the hotel our first day, since they had multiple security guards everywhere checking on our coming and going... I only found out the next day when all the security was gone that this was a one-time security group intended to protect a local soccer team staying at the hotel. As far as the amenities, the restaurant was decent for breakfast, the pool was large with plenty of seating and umbrellas although it's a bit hard to find. The room amenities such as towels and tissues felt cheap and certainly not the quality that the Short Hills Hilton used to have. Overall, this would be a fine stay for a standard Hilton, just not up to a five-star experience. The location itself was wonderful for us, and provided easy access to the mall across the street, and highways are easy to access directly from the parking exit. read more

I was very excited to take my dear friend to the Sunday Brunch Buffet at the Hilton Short Hills this past weekend to celebrate her birthday. I called to confirm my reservation for 12:15 (made through Yelp) and asked about their parking which I learned was free. I arrived with my friend at precisely 12:15 and was told that the Brunch Buffet ended at noon, and that we could order from the a la carte menu. We were shocked. And very disappointed. I spoke with the hostess and asked why the website listed that the buffet went until 2:00 and she said that it must be a typo. What?! I went to speak with the manager of the hotel and he basically said the same thing. And was definitely not pleasant. No apology. Nothing. I actually thought he might offer to treat us to the brunch buffet another time..... but he didn't. It was bad enough that their information was incorrect. And then they made it worse by being rude and disinterested. I live in Short Hills. I will never go back and will encourage everyone else to pick a different place for brunch. read more

Stopped at this Hilton for a business conference. Building is very old and weathered. While the inside is nice, it has a 1990s corporate America vibe. Staff was very nice and accommodating, but didn't know whether the electric vehicle charger was. Worst experience ever. We're familiar with the steady decline of hotels: no minibars, etc. This was on another level. Arrived in the early afternoon to find out that neither the restaurant or the bar were open, and there is ZERO room service for lunch. We ordered DoorDash and asked for silverware at the front desk, only to be given two plastic spoons. What on earth? She couldn't walk to the closed bar next door and get us silverware? Very expensive hotel. Not so clean though. Hallways need to be vacuumed. I travel a lot and always check for bed bugs before I unpack. This room on had a mattress that clearly had signs of bed bugs. Blood stains are a sure sign even if you don't see bugs. I asked for a different room and they made me wait to speak to a manager instead of just giving me another room. It's a nice location and the staff are wonderful. They have 2 free EV chargers. However, the building and parking garage are very old, and falling apart. It's also kinda crappy they charge you $5 for a cup of coffee in the mornings (on weekends). Most hotels have a free pot out in the mornings. There is a pot in your room you could make for free. $5 for crappy coffee just seems like they are nickel and diming you. James is AMAZING!! After helping figure out a mix up I did when booking this room for my nieces birthday slumber party. We were lucky enough to meet him in person upon check in. So sweet an attentive to us. As we entered our room, my niece was SUPERRRR excited that James had left us chocolate covered strawberries and a happy birthday card from him and the wonder staff here at the SH Hilton. Stayed here for one night, but it was a great experience. The hotel is super nice and has an indoor and outdoor pool. The guy at the front desk was friendly and nice. We didn't end up getting the breakfast buffet but it smelled delicious. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was super nice and the room was clean. The only issue I had was that I got a room at the shopping package rate and the gift card didn't even work so I couldn't use it. So beware if you use that rate - I have an inactive gift card which still won't work even after calling customer service twice. read more

Was here for a weekend for a wedding and had a nice time. I liked the underground parking with easy access to the hotel. It was a little cold when we checked in so that made it nice. Check in was fast and friendly. Our room was huge! It was very clean and comfortable as well and everything worked. Bathroom was nice (although looked like something from the 1980's with green marble) with good water pressure and fluffy towels. I will note that the facilities are in good shape overall, but the entire hotel is designed in a style that I can most generously describe as "what I think a rich person's style would be, by someone who is not rich" circa 1988. It probably looked good when it was first designed but it's a little bit dated now. Waaayyy too much brass (although that would please the lady on "Windy City Rehab") The gym is nice and very large. There is also a beautiful indoor pool and jacuzzi. We used those on a Sunday morning and they were blissfully uncrowded. The event facilities were very nice. We really enjoyed the wedding and the reception. Location across from the Short Hills Mall is nice. It took four minutes to walk to Macy's. As a Diamond member, it is kind of chintzy that my "reward" for being Diamond was two bottles of water. That was it. The other thing I didn't like (and this is a Hilton issue, not this specific location) is that AGAIN, digital checkout didn't work. I got a push notification from my Hilton app that said "you can check out now" and as I was ready to check out, I clicked "check out" and then got a message that said "please stop by the front desk". So, instead of just clicking and heading out, I had to go by the front desk where the clerk just took my keys and said "you're all set". Marriott, with their Bonvoy app, which I think everyone can agree is awful, can get this right. Why can't Hilton? It's so frustrating to not be able to use the technology on a consistent basis. When here for my granddaughters 13th birthday party. The suite was very nice. Pool area was nice and clean, service was great.

My sponsor booked me into the Hilton Short Hills and paid for my room and wanted to pay for incidentals. The front desk would not allow the incidentals to be included on his card. I travel and speak too much. Three months ago, Amazon Prime movies flew me for two days for a set visit and interviews at their new series. Then, I went back to LA, and left the next week to speak at the Sydney Movie Studios in Australia. Then back to LA, and left the next week back in Greece. Then off to stay for 3 days and speak at another conference. Then, off to Atlanta, to speak and hold a Banquet at The Whitley. Now, NJ and your hotel. Everywhere I speak, the organization covers my room and expenses. They DO NOT NEED to be there when I check into the hotel. I am 78 and have been traveling since the 1950s. Your policy is misguided and means I cannot stay at your hotel when I return to speak. If any other hotel had this policy it would shut down speakers. Furthermore, the staff tried to be nice, but the breakfast was awful with the omelet being as hard as a tire. read more

The wings and sweet potato fries were overpriced and not good. I decided to order a bit of dessert later on in the price in the menu was $12 for an apple pie. I was in Short Hills, NJ for a training that my work sent me for. When I heard that they booked me a room at the Hilton, I was excited and Hilton did not disappoint. This particular Hilton is located across the street from the Short Hills mall, which was very convenient. I stayed for 4 nights and stayed in a single room with a king-sized bed. I felt like a queen - the bed was so comfortable and the bathroom had a marble counter top, nice sized tub and spa-type toiletries (which they happily gave me more of when I asked). The entire hotel was very clean and opulent with chandeliers, gold accents on the marble stair cases and professional and helpful staff. The conference rooms where my training was held were also very nice and I was imagining the rooms being used for wedding receptions, prom and other elegant affairs. I would definitely return to this hotel if I end up in Short Hills again - a solid 5-star rating! read more

The room was clean but the bathroom lacked venting so even though I don't take hot showers, had to leave the door open and wipe the mirror down. Needed to write something- no pad or pen in the desk. The bill had a charge for sundries. Never had a charge for using soap, shampoo and conditioner at any other hotel and was disappointed with the hotel for this. Also, they don't inform you that there's a charge of $24 a day for parking. Luckily it was waived for us because we were with a wedding party. When returning to visit family and friends in the area, we'll find a different hotel. read more

There isn't much to say about this place. It is a 4 star hotel that looks 4 star in the lobby but feels 3 star when you actually stay there. The service is probably the worst of it all. The front clerks didn't seem like they could care less; service with a snarl if you will. You get to your room and it seems like a standard 3 star hotel room. They have some amenities like coffee and tea but you have to purchase your own water! Like, they can't even give you some extra bottles of water for the 350 per night you pay!! And don't get started about the gift shop/snacks shop. There are no prices so you are completely surprised by the fact that a 1L bottle of water is 9 bucks! Completely ridiculous! The house cleaning does a good job and are quite satisfactory. The views aren't so great. The restaurant is so-so. And apparently this is supposed to be one of the better hotels in the area! Yikes. Our family booked & prepaid 2 rooms with 2 Queen Size beds at Executive floor for the weekend. After checked in, we only received 1 room with 2 Queen beds & 1 room with 1 king bed. Besides there are no executive club opening on the weekend. No one at Hilton bothered to email us this rule, after we made the reservation. Short Hill property is very outdated, you cannot go to indoor pool using one elevator from your rooms, you have to walk by the front desk to enter another elevator. Guest Room is very small & bathroom door is impossible to lock. ( like a revolving door). Also Hilton charges a deposit when you check in, you cannot get the refund after checking out then you have to wait for another 24 to 48 hours. Overall we'll never stay there again, we believe this hotel deserved a very low rating . read more

Another conference for work, with this one including a few nights in the conference hotel! Let's start with the room. They are a nice size (at least the one I had) and kept clean. I even managed to have somewhat of a nice view - not bad for a 2nd floor room in front. I really liked how quiet it was even though I know the surrounding rooms where occupied. Unfortunately, they charge for wireless and it seemed to drop out often. The conference room was adequate, with access to wifi (same drop out issues as with the room). I think the only thing disappointing about the conference room-lobby area is the bathrooms. They just aren't kept clean enough to meet my standards...
