Naan, Achari Chicken ($15.95) and Butter Chicken ($16.95)

So friendly, waitress served us yummy lentil soup while we waited for our takeout order. Very diverse menu of different chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetarian dishes. + Coconut naan ($5.99 for 4 pieces): was interesting, full of coconut flakes (7/10) + Achari chicken ($15.95): was a first, very very pickle-y, spicy but tender! (7.7/10) + Butter chicken ($16.95): delicious balance of sweet and savory, slight more savory (8.5/10)

Himalayan Delights in Newport Beach makes some of the best Indian food I've ever eaten, and the ambiance is very welcoming and the staff is very hard-working and cheerful. I had the Lamb Tikka Masala which came with a free side of basmati rice, and there was also a complimentary cup of lentil soup to enjoy while waiting for the order to arrive. The sauce was very delicious and tasted super clean and everything, which I truly appreciated. The premium lamb inside was also very high-quality and quite tender with an even consistency throughout, in generously sized chunks. The basmati rice was also very clean and a great side to go with the lamb tikka masala. At $18 for such a great and filling dish, some of which I took home, the value is definitely there and Himalayan Delights is my favorite Indian restaurant in OC!!

Came here for lunch with some friends (two had been before and recommended it) on a Friday. The restaurant has a little parking lot on the side, which makes it convenient along a very busy street. We started off with a cup of complimentary lentil soup. I loved that it was piping hot (I loathe lukewarm soup) and the seasonings were perfectly balanced. The cumin was there, but did not overpower! Paneer Pakora, fried cheese, served with a sweet/tart tamarind sauce, was quite nice, though I'm not a fan of paneer. My friends ordered that. Vegetable Pakora is always my go-to and these were nice and crispy. I especially liked the accompanying mint sauce which cuts the fattiness on my tongue. Goat Curry, a Nepalese specialty, is definitely a must order if you're into ovine. Bold, deep flavors with chunks of goat is perfect with the white basmati rice. Butter Chicken is a dish everyone is familiar with. The one here is very tasty and isn't heavy. That's the thing about Nepalese cuisine, it's not heavy. Chicken Kedai is one of my favorite Nepalese dishes. It's a curry of sorts, but no cream or coconut is added to it. I love how rustic it is. We asked if there was anything else recommended... Chow Mein we are told. Okay then! The noodles reminded me of Indian Chinese food. It's delicious when done right. Lamb Biryani was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Generous chunks of lamb dotted the multi layered flavors of the basmati rice. It was extremely satiating! On top of that, a few ended with Gulab Jamun, balls of sponge like cake soaked in a scented syrup. Again, not my thing. Service was exceptional as Jana was the only person working front of house during lunch. My friends ordered Badami Naan, a bread stuffed with peanuts and crushed cherries. I tried it, but it was not my thing. I much preferred the Garlic Naan we also ordered. Please go give Nepalese Delights your support. They absolutely deserve to succeed! Food was delightful, and service so friendly!

Randomly decided to come here for a Sunday lunch, and I was not disappointed! I really enjoyed the flavors of the food here, and the portion sizes were generously large. Parking is quite easy as there is a parking lot right next to the restaurant. The service was quick and the friendly servers were attentive. I especially enjoyed the free soup appetizer that came with our meal.

What a wonderful new restaurant in Newport! This restaurant is small and quaint, when you first enter you are greeted by the owner, and instantly feel like you are welcomed. The food is delicious! When you first sit down they give you a free cup of their soup, which is a lentil soup. We ordered an assortment of things, see my photos, and I have to say they were all 10/10!

Came here after getting coffee next door and it did not disappoint. We smelled the spices from just walking to the coffee shop and it made us crave curry! Lucky we came on a weekday and made it to their lunch special. Very amazing lunch special, we ordered two tikkas with extra garlic naan for the special, also came with rice and a warm comforting soup. The chicken tikka was on a sweeter side, and their garlic cilantro naan was perfect for it.

One of my favorite places!! Ive been here twice, most recently we got the biryani and the chicken tikka masala and really enjoyed both. Our waitress was also super nice! Would 100% come back again!!

I'm so impressed with Himalayan Delight that I had to leave a review. I ordered the chicken korma and garlic naan, and it was honestly some of the best food I've had in a long time. The korma was insanely flavorful and the garlic naan was so addictive. You can taste the quality in every bite. What truly made the experience stand out was our server, Navraj. He is seriously the sweetest and kindest person. So attentive without ever being overbearing, incredibly welcoming, and genuinely made us feel cared for. You don't get service like that everywhere. If you haven't tried this place yet, you're missing out. Amazing food, amazing staff, and such a warm atmosphere. Himalayan Delight is officially one of my new favorites. highly recommend!

Himalayan Delights was a surprise until my friend and I walked passed the open window while they were on their break ! The aroma wafting from that window was like wandering the streets of Nepal ! Pungent spices just singing in the air . Once inside and greeted by Janna a delightful young beauty with piercing eyes . Keeping it simple I ordered the restaurant favorite goat and the Lamb korma with garlic cilantro naan . Janna brought a small bowl of a delicious lentil soup as starter . From start to finish our meal was delectable. The ambience of simple wooden chairs and tables added to the simple ness of being in a local Nepalese eatery . Don't be fooled by the innocuous low slung old Newport Beach strip center ! Once inside you will be transported . Highly recommend the place and don't forget the mango lassi it's to dievf

I walked past this place last night and it smelled fantastic. I'm in town from SLC and I had plans to meet up with a friend from LA for lunch today, so I walked in and asked about the vegan options. The server (who I believe is the owner) listed all the options for me, and then my friend and I came in a bit later. We both really enjoyed the food!

A restaurant with a heart for people and great service. Best Indian food in the area. Owner was very kind to reduce the spice level when dish came out too spicy, he made a whole new dish! He was versatile and accommodating enough to add eggplant to the Palak Paneer, it was delicious!

Chicken tandoori comes with a side of rice and veggie. A big portion for 1 dish. The flavor is different vs traditional chicken tandoori that I've had but still good non the less. Of course it paired well with a side of rice.

This was our first time here. Daal (soup) appetiser provided with our meal was the perfect balance of savory and salty, but not too salty. Chicken momo with chili was delicious. The only reference I have is a distant relative of pan fried gyoza with a tangy chili sauce and sauteed bell pepper. The Bhera Ko Karang (rack of lamb) arrives on a sizzling iron plate as the vegetables simmer in a light sauce while the perfectly prepared lamb rests above the heat. The lamb was melt in your mouth tender. My butter chicken was spicy enough to break into a light sweat. Balanced by the rice it was yet another perfectly balanced dish. To round everything out we ordered at Jana's suggestion the Badami Naan stuffed with peanuts and cherry puree. This was unlike any naan I've ever had, the texture of the crust slightly reminded me of a light pizza crust, you can smell the slight char from the oven then you get a slightly sweet aroma of the nuts and cherries. This was the perfect compliment for my wife to temper the spice of my butter chicken. Finally my wife ordered the Ginger Lemonade which was incredibly refreshing. The entire meal was an absolute delight. I look forward to our next dining experience with Himalayan Delights. Added to give credit to @ocfeed on Instagram who pointed us to this location.

I was greeted with a smile and seated at a very nice table covered with a table cloth and minimal centerpiece. Cloth napkins are also a plus. Music was at comfortable level with enjoyable "meal" music. I walked in around 2 p.m. on a Tuesday, just in time for the lunch special. The options are a 1 dish combo or 2 dish combo. I chose the 2 dish: saag aloo and chicken vindaloo, medium spiciness for both. I also ordered a lassi, sweet. After my order was taken, it wasn't very long until my meal was served. Along with my dishes came a small salad and a bowl of rice. The portions were just right for the lunch. I have to say the dishes were very delicious. The potatoes in the saag aloo were perfectly cooked (not mushy) and the spinach with the spices are well balanced. It paired well with the garlic naan ($1 more for the garlic upgrade). I would say the same with the chicken vindaloo. The chicken was very tender and again the flavors balanced well with the naan and the rice. The texture for both "sauces" were also just right as I was able to scoop both using my naan a spoon. I ended with a small dessert, gulab jamun, to balance my meal. Again, not too sweet and flavors balanced out. In all, my food customer service experience at Andaaz was amazing and I will definitely make it a point to head back there the next time I am in Costa Mesa or just head to the area because the food is exceptional.

The chicken tikka masala was not anything spectacular as I have had better elsewhere. But it definitely hit the spot. The samosa and the paneer were stars as each bite produced additional flavors which continued to build on each other. I could just eat these two dishes forever. We tried the dosa and the goat. The dosa was perfectly crispy when it was hot. I personally didn't enjoy eating it as leftovers the next day. But I couldn't stop eating it and dipping it in all the curries and sauces when it was piping hot. The goat surprised me as I'm not a huge fan of lamb or goat. But the flavor profile and the spices made this a dish that was more flavorful than our usual go to tikka masala. Will definitely come here again and again.

The pricing is very reasonable--$18.99 on weekdays and $21.99 on weekends. The spread was decent with a nice variety. The appetizers were a highlight; both the samosas and kachoris were crisp and flavorful. I loved that they bring fresh garlic naan directly to your table instead of letting it sit out under a heat lamp. For drinks, the hot tea and mango lassi were both spot on. My only minor critique was the biryani, which tasted a little on the salty side. However, they made up for it with a solid dessert station featuring 2 to 4 options, including gulab jamun, custard, and bread pudding. Bonus points for plenty of free parking in the lot. Definitely a solid option if you're craving a buffet!
