Himalayan Cafe is in downtown San Dimas. We had dinner on a Sunday night and it was pretty quiet in the area. We had no problems getting parking and we realized that we were the only customers in the restaurant that day. It seems that most people coming by were taking food to go. The decor inside was so bright blue and decorated with flags and various posters on the walls, with relaxing music playing in the background. Our server was friendly and attentive and the prices are reasonable for what you get. Even the beer prices are good! We ordered so much food! *Samosa Chatt *Chicken Momo *Himalayan Mix Grill *Bread Basket *Chicken Tikka Masala *Chicken Curry Everything was delicious and had great flavors! My picky eater 2nd child had nothing but great things to say about everything we ordered (very rare) and ate up everything. We mentioned that we had nut allergies and our server said that they do not have any nut products in their food, even if the menu mentioned it, because of a lot of nut allergies with customers. I would not hesitate to come back here for Nepalese food, we all really enjoyed our experience!

Very nice ambiance and service was excellent. We had a party of seven and the server kept up with us. I had a chicken rice dish and the flavors were amazing! The naan bread was delicious and loads of onions in one and regular naan was also amazing!

Our favorite for Indian cuisine. My husband's go to is their chicken tika masala, mine is the saag paneer. To get more veggies we add the aloo gobi. With rice and garlic naan we always leave happily sated. The staff are always friendly and they've added lights to their decor for the upcoming holidays. Go, you'll enjoy the food.

This place is still so delicious. They added a salmon option to the thali plate that is just beyond. Better than any food I had in the actual Himalayas. Although obviously there are other attractions! First rate service. This is an excellent place.

We recently visited Himalayan Cafe in San Dimas and had a very enjoyable experience. The nicely decorated dining area offered a relaxing ambiance, making our evening perfect. The great service and attentive staff made our experience flawless. The food is so delicious! We highly recommend the Chicken Tikka, which was tender and perfectly spiced, and the Daal, which was rich and comforting. Don't skip the appetizers--the samosas and grilled tikka were fantastic! The variety is great, and everything we tried was excellent. (The only minor note is that the serving size could be a little more.) They offer lots of parking and the overall experience is a reasonable price. We had such a positive visit; we will definitely come back! Come try them--you won't regret it!

Had a Groupon deal from this place so we went there for an early dinner. Pretty decent Himalayan/Indian food. Had the lamb vindaloo, mixed grilled and Lamb Biryani. The vindaloo was good and a bit spicy. The mixed grilled is a bit dry and the biryani was a bit wet. All over it was decent. Our server was very tentative. The entire restaurant is decorated with Nepali native arts and statues.

Good food and best service Today is our first time here but we will definitely come back! Don't miss it!

I first discovered them during the pandemic and it was as delicious as I had remembered! Finally got to eat here in person and it was absolutely heaven! I love love loved the butter chicken, that curry sauce had a life it's own! The vegetable pokoras are so good with the 2 difference chutney dipping sauces!! And the lentil soup is a must for chilly evenings or days. Super hearty with a rich broth and delicious flavors. Will definitely be back to try more menu items!

Been here few times but keeps getting worse. Also service very slow. Seems like one cook and one server run the whole place. Tandoori platter came burnt. Lamb was so tough and inedible. Disappointed.

    There were 5 of us.

What a delightful experience that was! The dining area is colorful and pleasant. The service is excellent. I am not too familiar with Indian/Himalayan food, so I had a lot of questions which our server patiently and graciously answered. The lunch specials are great deals. The naan (garlic naan and cheese naan) fid not disappoint!

I dont even know where to begin! As soon as i entered the restaurant, I was greeted with alot of beautiful decorations and statues along with music. As i sat down, the server lady was very kind, attentive and explained whats good on the menu. I wanted to try everything on the menu! But I settled with the Himalayan Grill, Himalayan Platter, Chicken Tika Massala and Naan Bread. Omg!! these foods were insanely delcious! Unfortunately I didnt get her name. Thank you for taking care of us.

What a great place. It hadn't even been on my radar before today but I had been craving my favorite Indian dish, goat curry. And theirs did not disappoint. The serving was just the right size because after I was full but not stuffed. And a lot of me wishes there had been some leftovers to take home because everything was excellent. It was spiced just right, had the right heat between medium and hot just like I asked for, and it paired really well with both the naan and basmati. For sure I'd order this one again. The service was pretty great too. They were right on the ball with refills, extra napkins, and even rice if I had wanted some. All in all, I think I found a gem tucked away from the main shopping and restaurant rows here. And I think I want to be coming back in the near future.

Himalayan Mix Grill, chicken Biryani and mango lassi Great food!

If you are craving rich flavorful and savory food, Indian Cuisine is the perfect answer. I was craving samosa and pakora. So, I orderd a delivery from Himalayan cafe. It was very convenient. I was pleased with the service and the packaging too. I orderd the following from the menu: -Himalayan Masala Tea. It was fragrant and rich. - Mix Vegetables Pakora Was very flavorful and savory fried chunk of vegetables. - Himalayan Mix Grill Combination of tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, lamb tikka, kababs & shrimp, came with basmati rice. -Vegetable Samosa. The crispiness from outside and the spiced rich vegetable filling were perfectly delicious and mouthwatering. - Momos, the Indian dumpling was very rich in flavor. -Naan was fluffy and rich. - Gulab jamun was soft with subtle taste of cardamom and had perfect sweetness from the rose syrup. My family and I enjoyed our meal. We were intrigued by  complexity of spices and deliciousness

dal was super watery but tasty

I got their Butten Chicken Plate and golly, it was delicious! The Lunch Special is served in a beautiful gold plate with multiple small bowls to hold the dishes. My butter chicken was velvety rich in tomato flavor and the chicken was tender and beautifully married wth the buttery gravy. I'd come back just to have another bite of their Butter Chicken! I also wanted to try one of their drinks, so I ordered a Iced Saffron Chai with Boba (No Milk). I've never had this drink before, and I am so glad I did because it is absolutely delicious. It's refreshing, bright, and has an almost delicate and sweet-spicy aroma to it. While eating our lunch specials, we sat in their comfy blue velvet seats and enjoyed the ambiance. As we were brainstorming what type of cuisine we wanted, we both agreed upon West Asian/Middle Eastern. So, of course, I hopped on Yelp and was delighted to findCafe X2O! Seeing that it was a Lebanese spot, I knew that the food would be pretty good from the get-go. When we arrived to the restaraunt for late lunch, we were seated promptly, given the menus, and water to drink. We ordered the chicken breast kabob plate, the beef shawarma plate, with sides of grilled vegetables, hummus, baba ghanouj, and toum (garlic sauce). Of the bunch, the baba ghanouj and toum were my FAVORITE! SO FLAVORFUL! As for the grilled vegetables, I'm personally not a fan of whole roasted roma tomatoes and a whole grilled zucchini. The chicken kabob and beef shawarma plates were pretty yummy! However, I did prefer the meat and the rice to be a lot more seasoned & salted. They both tasted a bit too bland for my personal liking, however, the proteins were tender and cooked to perfection! (I do tend to be extremely particular about West Asian/Middle Eastern food, given that I am West Asian/Middle Eastern myself and have high expectations when eating out - hence the preference in extra seasoning! ) I was slightly disappointed that they didn't have ayran (Middle Eastern yogurt drink), as most spots tend have this on their beverage menu. That would've been perfect to sip on the extremely hot day it was! I do plan on coming back here to try out their falafel and shawarma wraps. Highly recommend to folks in the area that are curious to try West Asian/Middle Eastern food and are looking for a solid spot to eat!

Today we visited the Diplomat Jr. in Glendora and it was not the quite the "upscale" Mediterranean dining advertised, but quite the contrary this time. From the fruit flies & black fly constantly buzzing around our table and landing in our food, to the lack of standard Mediterranean type accoutrements omitted from our meal. The chicken was seasoned and flavorful, but somewhat undercooked. The typical Mediterranean saffron rice was now replaced with plain [bland] rice pilaf, and no hummus or garlic is included with your "Mediterranean" meal. You must pay $10 extra for hummus, and $4 extra for a 2oz disposable container of garlic; a total $14.00 extra for condiments. But you do receive a large Mexican chile and cooked tomato, (to which i personally did not eat because i avoid highly acidic foods.) I would recommend to the Restaurant owners to keep the front door shut (especially when it's 92° out), or install a fan over the front door so that flying insects can't get in, annoy customers & contaminate the food. I would also recommend serving a traditional saffron rice since it is a "Mediterranean" restaurant. Additionally, the hummus was horribly boring and could've used a little garlic added for a little flavor, or garlic, infused olive oil blended it when making it. Garbanzo beans by themselves are boring and flat in flavor. The service was lacking, as our waitress slow or MIA most of the time & in fact at one point we had to leave our table & go find her in the bar as she was helping the bartender with no customers present. And it's not easy to make a new family favorite - a place that appeals to multiple tastes and priorities. Great taste - amazing spices and seasoning; all the meat is tender; the curry entrees come with a heaping personal bowl of rice; the naan is excellent, flaky and fresh right out of the oven; the prices are good compared with other similar restaurants I've been to; the staff are so friendly; I like the unique Nepalese decorations; I like how the ambiance is usually chill, not too busy; and the location is very convenient - in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, walkable within all the other sights and parking structure. Some dishes our family enjoys: -Samasa Chat: I like to call this "Nepalese loaded nachos" - it's got a few triangles of fried, flaky dough (samasa), topped with a tangy, richly spiced chutney of chickpeas, diced onions, and some crunchy bits. Lots of fun textures, flavor, and a nice small/medium-sized shareable appetizer. Just fyi, there is more of the chutney than the dough triangles. So we end up eating the extra chutney with the naan :) I did like Samasa Chat as an appetizer more than Vhel Purl, just my preference.. the latter seemed saltier and I do like the fried dough pieces in the former. -Paneer Tikka Masala (ofc chicken is good/classic too) - omg this sauce. It reminds me of Italian vodka sauce bc both combine the tang and body of tomatoes with a creamy base. Whenever I order this my family members are always dipping into it during the meal :P Paneer is fun if you've never had it - it's cheese, but honestly the texture feels like firm tofu. -Lamb Tikka - comes out on a sizzling plate, and the portion of meat is pretty decent for a single serving. The lambs are cubed into these nice chunks, tender, with a ton of flavor. -Salmon Tikka - same presentation as the lamb. The salmon is super tender, less salted than the lamb, but still flavorful. We've been consistently happy here! Thank you :)
