I was around the area looking for a place to eat. I came across this Indian eatery. When you order, it's self-service. My order took about 15-20 minutes. The food had good flavor. They also have a vegan&gluten free section on their menu. Couldn't sit down at the restaurant but there's a lot of seating on the inside and outside.

Thali with chicken tikka masala and lamb curry
Steph C.

A 3.5 for food and a 4 for their chai. I love their chai and how strong it is - you can get it hot or cold. It's pretty close to a flavorful HK milk tea (iykyk). As for food I ordered the Thali with two entrees, the chicken tikka masala and lamb curry. I enjoyed the lamb curry a lot but thought the portions were too small and lacked variety of sides compared to other Thali places I've tried. Order at the kiosk or cashier. No cash. The fresh flowers on each table is a nice touch. I won't be back for the food but I will come back for the chai.

Got the chicken tikka roll and an iced chai. The roll was not flavorful and it didn't taste like chicken tikka or anything remotely Punjabi - the sauce was totally off - no spices and was watery. The only saving grace was that it was priced reasonably given its location and the chai was also decent.

Thali plate chicken tikka and keema muttar

I ordered the Thali plate which was the chicken tikka masala and Keema muttar. The chicken was very dry. The keema muttar wasn't to my liking. The only thing that I enjoyed from here was the samosa and naan honestly

The other day I wanted some tea after my lunch and walked up to this place before my meeting. It took about 25min to get my tea order. There wasn't anyone in the restaurant. The tea came with 2 parle G at a whopping price $5.44 . The tea tasted good but tad too sweet. They sell ready to make tea packets and it says on the cover that it would take 5min to make tea. The ambience is beautiful. Will try their food when I am not crunched for time

Visited Kasa for biryani. Great place, great service , food was freshly prepared and flavorful. Recommend highly for biryani.

Don't be like me---don't forget the check in gives you one free samosa with purchase! I literally checked in and forgot to redeem it! Came in because they had a sign in front that said "best chai." That sounded like a challenge I was willing to take. The Chai was really good, I would definitely buy it again. The mango Lassi at around $7 was a miss. Super bitter. Like it tasted really sour and bitter all at once. Like 2 1/2 stars. It wasn't a pleasurable drink Their chai was amazing. I got the cold chai. 4 stars great! Service was super slow and not very friendly, and I didn't try their food.

We love this place. They have the best kati rolls i have ever had. Love the fact that this place is woman owned too!! Got to meet the owner. She is lovely. Kasa is always clean, well staffed and the food is super tasty. I often get the chicken tikka masala roll (small) and a kachumber salad. The chicken is very well seasoned and so tender. I love the accompanying sauce and the pickled onions. i wish the kachumber did not have carrots but that's just my personal distaste for carrots. Kasa is a must try for yummy, well priced indian food.

1/2-size Karahi Paneer + Naan

Intrigued by a Taco Tuesday offering, I wandered into Kasa and was looking at the various taco offerings before I remembered: The things I like swaddled in a tortilla are Mexican in origin. Hard pivot to the rest of the menu. My background isn't in design but I appreciate a menu that's easy to navigate and Kasa's could use some revision. I settled, eventually, on a 1/2-sized entree (Karahi Paneer) plus naan with which to sop it up. Kasa's web site speaks of vibrant flavors and fresh-ground spices. Others have remarked that the food isn't oily, as some assess Indian cuisine to be. Though my sampling of the menu was small and though I didn't dislike the Karahi Paneer, describing it as vibrantly flavorful would be inaccurate. It wasn't oily but nor was it flavorful. It was fine stopping far short of delicious. The hot, spongy naan proved a winning accompaniment. The overall yelp assessment of Kasa appears to be about 3.5 stars which feels right. This wasn't the best Indian fare I've eaten but it was good enough and I'd not be averse to sampling more widely from the menu to see if their other offerings pack more of a punch.

Well displayed menu

I, in all my life, have never made my homemade masala chai as bold and flavorful as Kasa's best in the City by the Bay. At first, I started with Blue Lotus chai made with star anise, and it had come out just plain spicy chai after my successful homemade brew. Next was both the masala chai spices and loose leaf Assam black tea leaves I bought from Rainbow Grocery Co-op. After my experimental brew, it came out a less spicy, less flavorful hot chai. So I thought I would turn to Kasa Indian Eatery. The way Kasa's chai wallah preps her chai, it's magically a real deal in the first few sips, but not as spicy as I expected. It's enough to conjure up the image of Mumbai's busiest streets. I will definitely have another cup of Kasa's Garam chai the next time I visit! If they have enough pouches to sell out, I might be one of the chai lovers to have that. Cheers!

Eric's Chai experience @ Kasa Chai
Eric N.

The music they play is literally awful. I dined in there twice and the music makes you feel like you are in a horror house! That said, however, they literally have the exact same flavorfulness as well as that harmonious tastefulness of that phenomenal Indian Chai, to which I have literally been introduced years ago by a previous roommate of mine, namely Aaki. I've had the same chai many times in Pakwan in San Francisco as well, however Kasa's version of it is almost the same as Aaki's version, which my tastebuds were originally programmed by. They also serve it with 2 pieces of Parle C biscuits, which could not be farther beyond 'Cute' and thoughtful! Despite the terrible music, they deserve my 5 stars for the yummy stimuli they caused.

Towards the end of our meal around 8:15 restaurant was mostly full but still a few open spots. Food: Okra Fritter - okay, solid portion size, sliced okra in a pakora like batter that added a hint of nuttiness and a touch of spice, served with tamarind and mint chutney for dipping, fried crispy, fairly dry and not oily Onion Persarattu - a thin dosa sprinkled with diced raw onions served with 3 chutneys and rasam soup, dosa was very lightly seasoned, didn't see any of the green gram mentioned in the description, dosa lacked crispness and ate a bit soggy, chutneys were okay but fairly bland Paneer Tikka Masala - minimal spice, creamy with a hint of tomato, okay portion size wish there was a bit more paneer to sauce in terms of ratio, need more seasoning and wish this was a touch saltier Service was lacking, tables were set with plates napkins silverware and two bottles of water which was nice. The rest was a pretty mixed bag, felt rushed to place our order once the group was seated they checked in twice in the span of 5min to see if we were ready. Food pacing once orders were placed was fine maybe 10-15min for dishes to be prepared and served. Once we were done eating staff did not check in to close out our bill for 10 min, when we finally did flag a server down we wanted to pay with blackbird so they told us to checkin and we waited another 5-10min before we were actually able to pay the bill. There are so many other great Indian spots in the Mission, would suggest those over this spot.Food felt under seasoned, service was lacking. I will say price point felt reasonable and maybe the kitchen and staff were off the evening I visited.

Starting off with what was good though, their mango lassi is tasty and momo chili dumplings are so flavorful with great texture. I would say they excel at their doughs in general because their naan was also great (especially the onion stuffed naan). Their Sewa/kale chaat was also passable (but would love if the kale pieces were bigger so that beans don't cause it to be as soggy after a while). That being said, it seems like they could do a little better with packing a flavor punch for their other dishes. Their shrimp tandoori was good but nothing to write home about. Lamb biriyani was also good but could've been stronger in flavor. Chicken tikka masala seemed like it was lacking something (but not sure what...), and the artichoke pakora didn't taste like artichoke? Thought it was still decent... I also think their tamarind chutney could be a bit thicker in consistency (maybe like that of the mango lassi), the mint chutney was nice.

"Authentic" is one of those words that gets thrown around in reviews of ethnic restaurants without…read moremuch thought behind it. People use it to mean tasty, or familiar, or just different from a chain. That's not what I mean when I use it. To me, authentic means the food isn't pretending to be something it's not, that the flavors and intention come from a real place: heritage, roots, memory. My benchmark is simple. When someone who grew up eating this food says it tastes like home, that's the review that matters. That's the one I trust. Keeva earns that word. Rita is the heart of it, but Keeva is a family labor of love and you feel that from the moment you walk in. When the restaurant first opened she told us about the dream they had to bring the taste of home to the people of San Francisco, and you could feel it. Her kids were often playing in the restaurant when we'd stop by. That kind of detail tells you everything about what this place is. What made me a regular wasn't just the food, which is delicious, it was Rita coming to every table, checking in, teasing us about why she hadn't seen us in a while, steering you toward something you hadn't tried yet. She didn't do this selectively for certain customers. She did it for everyone. That kind of warmth is rare, and it's the whole reason eating out is worth doing in the first place. The dishes are made with intention. You can taste the difference between food that was assembled and food that was cooked with purpose. Keeva is the latter. And if you ask for spicy, prepare yourself. I used to live about a block away and this was my go-to. Moving out of the Inner Richmond meant leaving Keeva behind, and I genuinely miss it. If you're in the neighborhood, what are you waiting for? If you're not, it's worth the trip!

Copra is an absolute masterclass in coastal South Indian cuisine that completely recalibrates your palate. The Fillmore space itself is gorgeous--dripping with lush greenery and high-end tropical energy--but the absolute culinary obsession happening on the plates is the real story. We ran through a massive spread, and honestly, the flavor profiles are loud, complex, and unapologetically bold. The Standout Drinks -Jaggery Sour It hits that perfect balance of sweet and tart, with the jaggery giving it a deep, complex molasses-like richness that pairs beautifully with the spice of the food. -Salty City: refreshing and addicting Food hits -Mysore Masala Dosa: My personal favorite of the night. The dosa itself has that elite, perfect crisp-to-chew ratio. Pair it with the tomato and coconut chutneys, a heavy dusting of podi, and that rich onion sambar, and it's pure perfection. -Thayir Vadai Chaat: A total texture bomb and another personal highlight. It's got this incredible contrast between the cool yogurt, sweet date chutney, and the crunch of the Madras mixture and cashews. -Varuval Sea Bass Collar: Absolutely phenomenal. The fish was cooked to absolute perfection under that heavily spiced varuval crust. The karavelli curry it sits in is incredibly rich, and pairing it with the clean, bright snowpea poriyal and basmati rice made it an elite main course. We also dug into the Shrimp Vennai Roast (smothered in a brown butter chili chutney that is pure crack) and the Slow-Cooked Octopus with that sharp jaffna rub and grapefruit. Dessert -Jigarthanda: You must save room for this. The frozen caramel milk bar combined with milk jam, nannari, and the crunch of candied cashews is elite-level dessert engineering. It's sweet, cooling, and the perfect antidote to the spice of the meal. Last but not least, you must try their filtered Indian coffee. It delivers a strong nutty subtle sweet flavor. Service is sharp, fast-paced, and genuinely passionate about the menu. It's vibrant, energetic, and entirely worth every bit of the hype. A shout out to Ser taking care of our group of 6. She helped us make decisions for orders as we were divided in what we want. Lol

No potato, no mint chutney, no tamarind chutney. Bland, I'd skip - Bombay pan bahji: an artisinal take, with butter brushed soft rolls and a pile of lemony and buttery mashed filling (with a slight kick!). Delicious but requires assembly - Vegetable kofta: the dumplings themselves (falafel-like) were pretty bland, but the gravy/sauce was a heady mix of saffron and cardamom that addicted your tastebuds with its sweet and savory combo.
