The food here is great but I'm writing because of the excellent service. I mistakenly placed an online order with the Chicago location, intending to order pick up from the suburban Highwood location. Despite the fact that this was my mistake, Sherpa Kitchen's owner helped me place a new order at the right location and refunded me the difference. really excellent service and again the food is great! read more

I finally found decent chicken chili in the square. Not Kolkata good, but Chicago great! Lamb tika and "base camp potatoes" were fought over. . The service was awesome, gluten free options, and the owner came over for feedback. I'll be back just to try the rest of the menu. . read more

We came in as a party of 4 thinking it was Nepali resturant but they were like it's Indian resturant. Cultural shocked(since Sherpa are Nepali) and the server told us it's they don't serve pork cause they don't have license. I didn't know you need license to serve pork. Overall experience was worst. read more

Great food. Tried all kinds of dishes and loved them all. The Tibetan delights were very tasty and both the steamed and fried dumplings we're great. The curry sauce complemented all of them. I really liked the curry goat and dipped garlic naan bread in it to finish off the great sauce. Will definitely be back. read more

Five stars for 1) taste 2) care of packaging for takeout, and 3) portion size. I ordered the butter chicken, and the palak paneer (spinach with cheese), the samosas for appetizers, and the garlic naan (~ $50 order). Everything was delicious, you could tell the samosas were fresh and made by hand. There was enough food for four meals (so about $12.50 per person per meal). Everything was well packaged, we live about 15 min from the restaurant and nothing spilled in the car. Overall a really great experience, hope to explore more of their Himalayan specialties next time, since it was our first we just went with the most popular menu items but the other stuff in their menu, especially the desserts looked amazing. I'm sad we can't go in person, but I'm glad we can still order takeout. read more

Great food and service. We have been twice so far and tried the vegetable samosas, chicken chow mein, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, and garlic naan. All were fantastic- the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were some of the best I've had, and the garlic naan is a must. The staff at Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen were friendly and attentive, and we enjoy the ambience inside as well. Having lived in Nepal, the Nepali set (a tray of samples) was the most authentic I've had in the states. My daughter who is Nepali said "this tastes like home." We will be back. read more

I am deeply impressed by this restaurant. Our meal, which we ordered for delivery, included pumpkin curry, butter chicken, minced chicken momos, and garlic naan. All of the dishes were prepared to perfection and clearly used high quality meats and fresh ingredients. It was really disappointing to have chosen this place to dine in. The food preparation was expensive, below standards, lacking taste and flavours. In appetizer, samosas were inner raw dough layers and the filling was lack of flavors. Plaint rice overcooked , bland, poorly presented. I wish I could have pictures to justify my comments, but even the breads (ordered one of all kinds - Plain naan, garlic naan, paronthi and plain roti) were thick and kind of under-cooked and none was tasty to eat. We were surprised how one can make naans bad. Mango Lassi was very thick and sweet, I was able to add 1 full glass of water to make it normal. I wish, the restaurant people could hire a good dedicated chef to make good Indian/Nepalese food, and not to disappoint customers. read more

We really enjoyed the food but took off a star for slow service. We were there early and there was only 1 other table filled. In fairness though, they were very busy with carryout orders. My first time eating food from the Nepal region. It was difficult to choose which items and the waitress, while friendly, was very hurried. We started with Sephaley, based on reviews. We were not expecting it to be an Empanada! It was not described that way on the menu. While tasty, I felt it was overcooked with the crust being a little too chewy. Yet the flavor was excellent. We also ordered the Chicken Pakora which was excellent and my favorite of the night. Other items ordered were the Newari (chhoila) and Jhaneko Daal lentils. Both were excellent in flavor. I found the Newari spice level to be too spicy for me. Garlic Naan was tasty but somewhat thin and limp. It did not hold up when trying to pick up the lentils with it. I would return to try the dumplings and other items. Recommend. read more

I love the food at Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen, both for dine in (pre-covid) and now, for takeout. The Lamb Madras is one of my favorites, so flavorful and delicious, and the C' Momo (Momos in HOT sauce) is extremely spicy but so good you can't stop eating them. Naan is also tasty. I haven't had a bad dish or experience here, and look forward to more tasty meals in the future! read more

My husband and I came in for a Saturday lunch just a couple weeks after the restaurant opened. We loved everything about it. We started with the vegetable Sherpa dumplings, which were freshly made, pillowy, and flavorful. They were my favorite part of the meal. I had a cauliflower, potato and rice dish that was comforting and warming. My husband had a chicken dish that was really brightly flavored. The waiter, manager on duty, and chef were all friendly and attentive. We'll be back to try more options from the extensive menu. read more

Amazing experience! I've never had this type of food before and called in for recommendations and received a detailed and helpful response! I got the thakali bhojan described as a sampler and requested for added spice and they included an extra spicy sauce on the side. The food here is outstanding. The last meal I had there was the shrimp chow mein, which was a pan fried noodle dish. The oils and spices that compliment the noodles and shrimp were incredible. I have enjoyed every dish I have had there and enjoyed the ambiance, which is warm and welcoming. They now serve beer and wine so appear to no longer be byob. As an ex-pat Chicagoan, found myself in Chicago on a wintery Friday afternoon after a blistering week of work and travel, driving through my former Ravenswood neighborhood chasing circa 1991, 30-year old memories. Spotted Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen while looking for the eerie neighborhood with the little houses flanking the tall boxy church (née: synagogue...reality check: on the other side of Kedzie), I vowed this would be my last meal in Chicago before flying South. Picked right. The momos are fantastic. Chicken Newari has tasteful balance of ginger and exotic spices. Cried because my flight was looming and could not finish the expertly prepared, dry (as opposed to saucy) traditional dish. This is the kind of food you can't make at home, even with your Nepali cookbooks. In the early 90's the Damenic perogi craze was sweeping Chicago, now momos are poised to earn Chicago food stardom. This was a great Nepali restaurant, the service was amazing and the food was great. As appetizer we had the dumplings and tass, both tasted fantastic. To finish off the main course we had the chicken tikka masala and chicken curry, both of these items were also brilliant. My friend and I came here for some momos as we are both from Nepal and have quite high standards for the quality when it comes to momos.
