One of my favorite spots for authentic Nicaraguan food in San Francisco…read more I usually come for the knockout nacatamales and the Maria Elena plate, but today I needed something comforting and ordered the albóndigas soup. It was exactly what I needed -- rich, flavorful broth with big chunks of vegetables that make it feel hearty and nourishing. The food is always fresh, the staff was so nice, and the place has a cozy, authentic Nicaraguan neighborhood vibe. Portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable for San Francisco. Bottom line: the albóndigas soup is a must if you're looking for comforting homemade food.

Reviewing this restaurant to support Latin Heritage Month!…read more Recently browsing for food and came across Oye Managua and I'm like oh yeah, let's eat! We tried: * Steamed Cooked Boneless Brisket, Yuca, & Plantains (Baho con Arroz) $19.95 * comes with a side - Arroz & Frijoles $0.00 * Chia with Lemon (Chia Con Limon) $5.95 Boho is a traditional Nicaragua dish of meat, green plantains and yucca cooked in banana leaves. According to the internet, this originated from the mix of cultures between the indigenous, mestizos and Afro-Nicaraguans of the country. The food was good. The steamed cooked boneless brisket can be a tad bland and slightly hard (is it bc of delivery?), but it's helped with the repollo (cabbage slaw) and the encurtido (pickled veggies). We enjoyed the lemon drink with chia seeds. Having been to Managua, Nicaragua many years ago, I can say it brought back memories. We crossed the border on foot (tour bus and foot) at Penas Blancas. We got this meal delivered but the restaurant is: Oye Managua, located on Mission and Eugenia.

My husband is Nicaraguan and we have gone back and visited many times, I am in love with the food and so sad we never had any local options nearby...Antojitos to the rescue! My husband cannot get enough of the Carne asada plate with Gallo Pinto (black beans and rice) and I could eat Queso Frito (fried cheese) all day long! My husband had recently been trying to describe a garnishment he used to have, that he misses and we found it here. He was so excited to finally show me what he had been talking about, Chilero (pickled onions and carrots), it was delicious on both the carne asada and the queso frito! Also took home a nacatamale (a nicaraguan tamale) for dinner and as we were leaving, I saw that they also have quesillo (a creamy white cheese wrapped in a warm tortilla and smothered in crema) - I am going to need to come back soon and get this as well! I was so obsessed with my plate that I forgot to take a picture, but I did get a picture of my Nacatamale I brought home...you can see the sauce and the banana leaves just wrapped around this treasure and perfectly packaged, so I can drop it in boiling water to heat it up.

Amazing service! Always friendly and the food is so authentic and yummy! Highly recommendread more

It's a little hole in the wall place with only street parking. On Tennessee in the not so nice area. I was able to park right in front of the place, so didn't have to walk around too much. Walked in as someone else was walking out. It smells heavenly! No frills, old faded menus on the wall, 2 ladies behind the counter cooking. Not much room to wait. Pupusas are $4 each but they told me they were running a special 3 for $10 so I got 6 for $20. Carne asada with cheese. Yum! Was told 30 minutes and it started to get smoky in there, lol so then waited in my car. Please note, It is cash only, take out only. Before I went back in, the lady who took my order came out to me, (it was more like 10 min) with them all packed in a foil pan. And the pickled cabbage mix and sauce packed separately. It stayed hot and fresh. They are thick and full of meat and cheese. And so delicious! It was wayyyyy too much food. I could have ordered 3 for us. One pupusa filled me up ! We had leftovers that our sons came over and enjoyed. If you live any where near, and love pupusas and authentic Salvadoran food- GO!
