    matcha latte, black sesame cake

I've been to Hinar about 3-4 times and I think that it's a pretty cafe with incredible interior design but I'm not terribly impressed by their drinks and desserts. Their drinks do run on the sweeter side so I'd adjust the sugar and I found their cakes to be a bit too sweet for my liking. The cashier was a little bit cold and brushed me off when I tried to ask about the wifi; the password didn't work for me so maybe they have the wrong one written down?

Hinar is one of my favorite matcha places in San Diego! Their earl grey matcha with pistachio foam is an elite flavor combination. I am also a big fan of their strawberry cream cake, and this was my first time trying the mushroom danish, which was quite delicious as well! The cafe itself is super cute and aesthetic with so much attention to detail - from the interior design to the cups to the coasters. I prefer this location to the downtown one because parking is abundant and it's typically less busy. The staff is also very nice and willing to make recommendations if you're unsure of what to get!

Love this place. What a vibe. The dessert selection is awesome and I like that their drink menu is pretty straight forward. I ordered an orange blossom vanilla latte and my husband ordered a matcha. Many people were on their laptops and it was a chill, laidback environment. Parking and seating is plentiful. Will be back soon!

I have been wanting to try this place out for a while. I finally got the chance to visit with a friend, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The café has a beautiful, earthy aesthetic that feels cozy and inviting. Seating is a bit limited because it's so popular, but it's still a comfortable place to relax and enjoy. The staff were friendly and attentive, and if you're dining in, you can simply leave your plates and mugs on the table when you're done, they'll take care of clearing everything for you. My friend and I both ordered the Biscoff Matcha with oat milk. It's definitely on the sweeter side, but the Biscoff crumble adds a nice crunch and complements the matcha really well. For dessert, we had the Banana Krokan and the White Chocolate Raspberry. The Banana Krokan was rich, soft, and had a smooth chocolate flavor that wasn't too heavy. It literally melted in my mouth. The White Chocolate Raspberry was also soft and delicious, with a raspberry filling that was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Neither cake was overly sweet, which paired perfectly with our matcha drinks. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back to try more of their menu and different matcha flavors. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for quality matcha and delicious desserts to enjoy with friends or family!

Underrated gem for matcha in SD Lived in San Diego for 5 years, and I seriously regret not knowing about this place sooner. I tried the matcha latte with earl grey foam. SO DELICIOUS AND WORTH IT!!! Loved the combo and have not been able to find it anywhere else The cafe has super nice ambiance interior as a middle eastern cafe with lots of neutral, golden, and modern decor. Seemed like a popular spot for studying and catching up with friends. The barista at the cashier was also very nice and the drink came out quick despite being busy. Absolutely recommend!

Stumbled into this cute cafe. Love the decor and vibes. The bathroom was so cute lol service was decent. I got the biscoff latte and it was good. Nothing that I will crave and dream about having again but good.

So glad they opened a location closer to me in Scripps Ranch! I came right when they opened at 9 and the line was forming - that should tell you something! The earl grey matcha is my go to. The matcha has such a rich, bold flavor, and the earl grey is so cozy. I haven't tried their desserts yet, but I absolutely need to! They have banana pudding, layered cakes, and basque cheesecakes (MY FAV) that look incredible - presentation is everything here. Total aesthetic goals! Will definitely be back. The perfect start to a girl's day!

When you walk in, their glass display is stunning, and it's hard to miss their array of desserts. Their cakes are abs GORGEOUS. I recommend getting the biscoff or raspberry cheesecakes. They're super fluffy and not too sweet. As for the macarons or the cakes with flowers, they're alright. The tiramisu was eh, it was far too strong in coffee flavor and inedible for me to eat. As for drinks, their coffee is average. It's not bad, but it does in a pinch. However...their earl grey matcha is magnificent. Super subtle with the earl grey, and not too strong. You can still taste the matcha and the earl grey did not detract from the matcha at all. It complemented each other. This is the only dessert/cafe place for me that opens late. Most other places close far too early so this is why I keep coming back to Hinar. It gets pretty busy during the day, even til closing so come early if you want a table or before they sell out of cakes for the day. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a new cafe to try out!!

I heard a lot of good things about this second location of Hinar so decided to try. The cafe has lots of parking spots available and this place is a lot bigger than downtown location. I tried their earl gray matcha and it was pretty smooth and good! The service was just ok, but def will come back for the drinks and desserts!

The combination of the hazelnut ganache, the chocolate chiffon, the bananas, and the mixed nuts--which I believe to be almonds and pistachios--in the Banana Krokan Cake I ordered created a smooth texture and rich flavor that's a delight to the senses. The cake had an airy, fluffy texture and the ganache layers had a creamy richness like a chocolate mousse. The bananas provided nice break to the richness of the ganache while the mixed nuts added a nice crunch to the overall eating experience. I also ordered a vanilla bean latte. It was a sweet but simple latte which complemented the chocolate-forward Krokan cake well. I wholeheartedly recommend this cake to chocolate lovers, and I would love to try the Tiramisu or the Banana Custard down the line.

Words cannot explain how much I love their Biscoff matcha latte. I genuinely dream about this place. The ambiance is super nice and it's such a quiet, relaxing spot to study. Unfortunately, they don't have any outlets and the WiFi can be pretty spotty and inconsistent. But honestly, I'll still make the drive just for their matcha!

Decor 10/10 serene and earthy Instagram worthy. Matcha is premixed if you care but I think it still tastes good compared to other matcha places. Got the earl grey matcha and it was so yummy nice balance earl grey was not too overpowering 8.5/10. The basque cheesecake TO DIE FOR!!!! Coming back for that 10/10

Hinar always SLAPS. Their matcha is consistently amazing, easily one of my TOP 5 spots in San Diego. I absolutely love their Earl Grey matcha with the foam on top. The Biscoff matcha and regular matcha are both delicious too. The service is always incredible as well! Everyone is super friendly, and the drinks come out FAST. I also can't forget to mention their beautiful interior. The seats are almost always filled with people studying or friends chatting. One of my favorite spots to hang out, I envy the people who live nearby and can grab this whenever they please.

I knew I had found a good place when I couldn't even find parking in the parking lot on a Saturday morning. There was a line out of the door and most tables outside were occupied. From pastries to sandwiches, bread and salads even dressings and also merch! What a hidden gem! Staff is super friendly and very informative. He suggested getting 100% but said that I could try 75% and then see if I liked it. It was SO SAFFRONY and full of spice, with a bitter aftertaste, I really wish I liked it. It was so unique because the drink doesn't rely on sugar to give it taste, unlike so many drink places in SD. The flavor wasn't up my alley, so he replaced my drink with an iced Signature Karak Chai (which he'd given me a sample before). :) And before he left his shift, he even asked me if I wanted any adjustments to my chai! I appreciated that especially as a non-coffee drinker. 11/10 service. I also ordered the Ras Malai Milk Cake. Keep in mind I really don't like tres leches so I had really low expectations for the soaked cake lol. It was actually really good! The cream wasn't super sweet, and it was topped with sliced nuts. The soaked milk in the cake actually paired well with the cake. There's both outside and inside seating, a few outlets next to the booths, and plenty of parking in the plaza. I'll def be back!
