The shop itself is tiny with modern design and a couple of tables to sit. It could be study areas too but depending on the time, it can get crowded. The drink I usually get is the matcha brûlée. However recently I've tried the Thai tea brûlée and I add cheese foam - this is literally chefs kiss! Highly recommend this. I got a white peach oolong tea and really enjoyed it. The tea flavor came through nicely and wasn't overly sweet. The peach flavor tasted natural, and the jelly was a great addition. The cashier asked if I was Amy and then went to the back to make the drink, which made me think they were making it fresh. Service was friendly and the staff seemed busy but attentive. The shop itself is really cute with a nice atmosphere. There were quite a few people inside studying or working on their laptops, but it was still relatively quiet and relaxing. Unfortunately, the quality of the drinks does not feel competitive with other boba shops, and I worry they may face the same fate. There was a kiosk for ordering alongside someone manning the front. Despite a large wave of customers, the drinks were made quickly. The selection was not very robust, offering a handful of milk teas, fruit teas, matcha lattes, and brulees. Most of the seasonal options centered on pistachio, coconut, and mango. Notably, there were some interesting toppings available, including barley and water chestnut popping boba. *Brulee Jasmine Green Milk Tea Oreo: strangely not filled to the brim. The jasmine tea was very weak and diluted. While the brulee swirl added some creaminess and sweetness, it lacked the toastiness that would have added depth and richness to the drink. The Oreo topping felt like an afterthought and settled to the bottom, resulting in a finishing chocolatey sip. *Dirty Taro Coconut With Boba: made with authentic taro and naturally sweetened by the included boba. The tapioca pearls were chewy but not particularly flavorful. Combined with the coconut milk, this drink was thick and rich. The drinks were customizable with adjustable sugar and ice levels. I would recommend getting less ice, as the drinks were not very strong on their own and the ice only further diluted the flavors. There is only 1 cup size. You may adjust sugar level from more, regular, less, or no sugar. As well as ice level of regular, less, or no ice. Located in a very busy plaza with many other eateries. Parking is quite small like many other convoy plaza's. There's also lots of street parking, just a little walk. It's a cute little place, decor looks very modern with white and gold. The Choco Tiramisu is the best drink for all you chocolate and tea lovers. I keep coming back for this drink because it's so good. The chocolate foam on top has little chocolate crunch topping too which gives it a nice texture. Service is fast. You can either order off the kiosk or order with a person in front. MYM tea (formerly Tan cha) is now independently and locally owned. They specialize in brewed tea, fruit tea (no syrups), and Vietnamese coffee. I do love the home grown nature of the shop since the usual franchises, in general, are tired with overplayed ingredients and gimmicks. I usually go for their brewed osmanthus or roasted oolong teas which are best served with their cheese foam, but is great without it as well. Their foam is of a good thickness with a wonderful cheesy-salty quality. The brown sugar boba is rightfully chewy with just enough brown sugar sweetness. Because they use brown sugar, 25% sweetness is the optimal level for all the brewed tea. A go-to in my boba tea rotation for simple, reasonably priced and fragrant tea... I haven't gone to this plaza in a while and didn't try the TanCha that was here before. Growing up in the 626 area in LA, TanCha was too milky & creamy for my preference. I decided to give MYM a try because they open later than other boba shops and I think I found my new go-to spot. I'm very picky with boba texture and their boba pearls are actually perfectly chewy and sweetened. The pearls are slightly smaller than other boba shops but that doesn't change anything for me. I ordered the Osmanthus oolong cheese foam with 50% sweetness and less ice. I also tried the roasted oolong tea from my partner. Both teas had such a strong flavor and even after the cheese foam was mixed in, it didn't get too milky!! The osmanthus is slightly more floral & has a subtle sweetness. The roasted oolong has the dark rich flavor. Their cheese foam is also amazing and reminds me of Happy Lemon's cheese foam which is the OG cheese foam to me. Beware, their tea is strong and might keep you up at night! Definitely going back to try other drinks and their coffee! I love to come back to MYM specifically for their coconut mango pomelo drink. You can tell the drink uses fresh fruit (they won't sell it if the fruits that day aren't good) and the tea jelly is phenomenal. You can taste each component, and the flavors blend well. I recommend 50% sugar max because it already comes pretty sweetened. I've tried a couple other drinks that I have found to be mediocre like their matcha and milo. Nothing crazy or worth going out for. I'm interested in trying their other fruity drinks and teas because the size is good and the quality is definitely there. The seating layout is nice and more modern. Not for private conversations but nice for a short hangout. Their service is good and the employees are nice. One word: meh. Wanting to order a post-dinner sweet treat, I stopped by MYM for an avocado mango smoothie and it did not hit the spot. I got the avocado mango smoothie less sweet. It really didn't taste like anything and the drink was too icey for my liking. The drink also had tart pieces of mango and flavorless jelly which added nothing in terms of taste to the already plain smoothie. If the smoothie was on the creamier side, I would have probably enjoyed it a bit more. Their drinks are only okay--nothing particularly memorable. Being that there's no shortage of tea shops in Convoy, I probably wouldn't return, especially not at full price. One of the main issue I have is with the tea itself--it is quite bland. I like my tea to be stronger in flavor and more tea forward. Even the drinks that included cheese foam, which usually adds a rich contrast, failed to enhance the overall taste. The presentation was decent, the actual flavor just didn't deliver. If I had to choose which were some of the better ones I tried, it would be the following: dirty avocado smoothie, mango pomelo, and oolong milk tea tiramisu. read more

There's been many new boba shops opening up recently but this particular one caught my interest as it was highly recommended by another Yelper, Faith D. We both love our bobas and as this was highly recommended, I had to check it out. It's located in the same plaza as Liuyishou Hot Pot and China Max Dumpling House in the Convoy Pointe Plaza Shopping Center. There's an open parking lot with ample stalls. I came into this new boba place with a comparison bias as I heard so many great things about this new shop. I decided to try their Roasted Oolong Milk Tea (my always to go to) and their Coco Mango Pomelo as it's one of their seasonal specials. The Roasted Oolong Milk Tea was quite comparable to Yun Tea, which is my favorite shop for oolong tea varieties, in my opinion. The roasted oolong was steeped really well. There's gonna be some competition on where I go now, haha! Coco Mango Pomelo was also comparable to 3CAT but definitely had its own charm! Their Jasmine tea jelly was SO SO SO GOOD. That hint of floral flavor and smoothness of the jelly worked so well with the mango drink. I definitely fell in love with this jelly and hope it's a forever topping. Dropped by here last week with the family and we enjoyed our drinks and the service. It's nice trying a new boba spot, especially with one offering some unique flavors, solid boba and a cool atmosphere. Tried the Jasmine honey green milk tea with a tiramisu foam which was super delicious (especially after mixing it). The only mishaps we had during our visit was one of our drink orders being overlooked (and left standing on the ready window until we asked), the crowded seating and difficulty finding parking. The reincarnation (not rebranding) of Tan-Cha at the Convoy Pointe Plaza Shopping Center in Kearny Mesa has resulted in MYM Tea & Coffee. The ownership has remained the same, and not much has changed to the interior decor of the suite. The biggest modification was the addition of Vietnamese style coffee which wasn't available yet during the soft opening. I thought there used to be a self-service kiosk to place orders, however one wasn't installed at my recent visit. For the milk teas, foam was still a prominent ingredient to the drinks and was listed as the first step. Fresh teas were limited to four choices. An entire menu screen was dedicated to Fresh Fruit Drinks and MYM Signature Drinks, respectively. Toppings cost between $0.75 and $1 each. I did notice that if no ice was selected, then it stated 'Not Full Cup' which was good for the sake of transparency to customers. The overall variety of drinks has been pared down likely because they want to have the capacity to make Vietnamese coffee. My selection was a Strawberry Green Tea with boba and less ice from the Fresh Fruit Drinks category. I believe this product was also available under Tan-Cha. The tea and boba pearl quality were good, yet it wasn't quite up to a five-star level. If anything, the price may have increased slightly. I still enjoyed my experience at MYM Tea & Coffee and look forward to returning when they are operating with a full deck. read more

I got half sweet which was also a good choice imo as it wasn't overly sweet. I liked the consistency and the flavors it had. I saw this shop replaced tan cha so I had to give it a try. The interior is so cute and aesthetically pleasing. It would be a nice spot to get a drink and hang out with some friends. The service was awesome and the barista was very patient with me while I was deciding which drinks I should get. She was very knowledgeable about the menu when I had questions about toppings and cup options. I ordered their coconut mango pomelo drink and their matcha latte with a brûlée cup. I thought it was going to be like a crème brûlée foam or cream on top but it was actually just a cream spread on the inside of the cup. Both drinks were good but the coconut mango pomelo was the stand out! It was so creamy and refreshing, I loved the fresh bits of pomelo on top. It wasn't overly sweet and the drink tasted super fresh and high quality. Unfortunately the matcha was a bit lack luster. It was extremely sweet and wasn't that strong. I got regular sweet but I would recommend getting it at least 50% sweet or less and adding extra matcha if that's an option. If you are in the area you must try the coconut mango pomelo drink!
