We came early to beat the crowd which picked up much later. Smoked wings were actually fried and had no smoked taste. I was looking forward to the Crab Cake Platter. Was mhee. Not the best. Filler left the crab tasteless. Coleslaw was delish & Green beans were ok. The Surf n Turf Burger was way too salty. Beach n Barn salad had delish Shrimp Salad and ok Chicken salad. Grilled Cheese sammie was sad but the Maryland Crab Soup was good. Our server Lisa B was slow. Would we come back...NO.

Great service and great menu. Will def be back! The only thing I'd say that could be improved was there wasn't a big enough serving of pot roast. It's put over a biscuit to make it look bigger than it actually was. Would have preferred more meat and no biscuit. The crab cake was great! Wasn't bread-y at all like some are.

As far as I am concerned, Hippee Hen House seems to have gone down hill. Our bartender was excellent, but the food wasn't very good. He had the French onion brisket dip. He said it wasn't very good. I ordered the baby back rib platter. I'm not sure what they feel are baby back ribs, but these were not it. On one hand, the cole slaw was very good. Would I come back here? I think it will be awhile.

Hippie Hen House has been on my to try list for their Crab Cakes and I finally had the opportunity to stop by on a Monday for their Crab Cake Day. We were seated promptly and greeted by our friendly server Lisa. We ordered crab cake platters and ordered a Take Home Couples Meal to go for Half off. The crab cakes were the best we have had so far in the area. The accompanying mash potatoes and Cole slaw were fresh and tasty. I would have preferred the option for a baked potato, but the mash potatoes hit the spot. They have plenty of parking in a private lot and our Server Lisa was fantastic! We look forward to return visits. Updated: Really enjoyed the take home meal of meat loaf and on a return visit, the Smash burger and bowl of Crisfield Cream of Crab & Corn Chowder was outstanding. Our server Kristen was fantastic. thank you to Sherry and team for fantastic food and service.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a fun atmosphere!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the people working there treat you like family!! Started with a key lime pie cocktail... the very BEST drink I have ever had! The smoked bacon jam wings came next! Sweet and tangy... i would have liked a little bit more of a crunchiness ! Next I went crazy and ordered something completely new to me...Bog Balls. If you've never heard of these (I had not) it's a chicken, rice, concoction that is formed into a ball and deep fried! Topped with a Kielbasa sausage gravy. Sounds delicious... but wasn't my cup of tea! Over all experience was good. I would definitely go back to the bar!!! That cocktail was OFF THE HOOK!!

Great food! Got there just a few minutes before closing and they welcomed us with no issues. Hot food. Recommend!

Hippie Hen House has really good food, friendly service and a casual atmosphere. The bar is in the center of the restaurant, and there are plenty of tables in different sections around the outside. They can easily handle large groups. We started with a couple of appetizers - crab nachos (8/10) and chicken bog balls (similar to boudin balls from New Orleans) (8/10). Both were really good with good flavor. For the meal we had three different dishes. - Carolina Charcuterie (essentially a low country boil) was good - much more food than it looks like, lots of shrimp that were cooked perfectly, spicy sausage, but it needed a little more flavor (8/10). - The Pollo Caprese - crispy chicken with tomato, fresh mozzarella cheese, basil and a light drizzle of balsamic reduction loaded on Benjamin Bakery's thick cut focaccia bread slices. May be one of the best chicken sandwiches I've eaten. The chicken was cooked perfectly (10/10). - Southern shrimp and jumbo lump scampi - really good flavor I highly recommend the Hippie Hen House. We will be back.

Let's try the good first. We arrived and we're seated immediately, but was also arrived just before 5pm, and it was already packed. Not surprised as it is the peak of the summer season. Our server was pleasant and attentive, and in my opinion, that was pretty much the extent of the " good". The "OK". - the food was just that, ok. The cobia had no real seasoning on it, if it weren't for the butter sauce, it would have had zero flavor. The fries are obviously from frozen and cooked until very crispy, almost hard. The mac and cheese sampled from my wife's plate also tasted like a mass produced, frozen deal. She said the scallops were good, and the shrimp I sampled were decent. My son enjoyed his fish and fries, but he's 6. The "bad"...since I'm using those words. It's loud, and got louder around 5:45. No surprise though, it's called a saloon and the reviews clearly say it's loud. Be prepared. Parking. I guess if you can find a spot on site, you're good, but the pay lots across the street are $20 for 2 hours...the least you can get. And again, something I failed to read, researcher whatever, but the pictures of all the 4 legged friends that have crossed the rainbow bridge that adorn the walls, it was, to me, a bit of a buzz kill. I quite frankly never realized it's concept was to honor actual dead dogs. My bad. We've been, and I honestly don't expect well go back, at least not for a while. I'll give it another shot, but in an area like this, there are always new places to try, ones that have been open for 30 years, and ones that have been open for 30 days. It's important to make a good first impression to generate return business.

Even though we live in Conway, we're always up for the drive when something promises that classic, no-frills, comfort food experience. From the outside, the place has that slightly worn, local-legend vibe--and if you know, you know: that's usually where the best food hides. Sure enough, the menu didn't disappoint. Helen lit up when she spotted a bologna burger (a rare find!), pairing it with onion rings, while I went straight for their famous cheeseburger with fries, loaded up with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and sautéed onions. The presentation was charmingly simple--everything served on individual paper plates, giving it that laid-back, beachy feel. No fuss, no frills--just good food and good vibes. Helen was absolutely in heaven with her meal, and while my burger had fantastic flavor, the toppings were a bit underwhelming--light on the veggies and missing those sautéed onions I was looking forward to. Still, the core of the burger was solid enough to keep me interested. We're already planning a follow-up visit to their Myrtle Beach location in a few weeks--round two is coming, and this time I won't forget to snap some photos. If you're chasing that authentic, old-school burger joint experience, this spot is definitely worth the trip.
