Grabbed lunch here with a friend. Great atmosphere and service! I'm not a fan of sushi so I opened for the Chicken Fried Rice. It was A LOT of food and very good.

Decided to try out this location and see if I like this one or the downtown more. The ambiance of the location is beautiful. Went here on a Saturday night and it wasn't as packed compared to the downtown location. So if you don't want to wait for a long time this location is the go to. We went for the reverse happy hour. A really good deal. The husker roll is my favorite. However, I like how the downtown location makes it than this location. The ratios are a lot better. This location put too much cream cheese and barely any steak in the roll. Still glad I got to try both locations. The west coast roll is also another favorite of mine. I will still go to the downtown location because it's closer to me and I like how they make their rolls there.

Always a great time! I love to go on Sundays for their all day happy hour. They have great deals for happy hour. They have a nice selection of gluten free sushi's. We always make a reservation, and the staff is very friendly. This place has a cool moody vibe that pairs well with the sushi

I went to Hiro with my sister for lunch with our two daughters after visiting Lauritzen Gardens. I typically always love hero and I don't really have not great food here but this time was an exception, unfortunately. I ended up ordering a three item Bento box With teriyaki beef, tempura, and a California roll to split with my daughter (also comes with a soup or salad and a side of rice). The Bento box is a fantastic bang for your buck for lunchtime. We arrived not too long after opening and there were already a decent amount of people in there. The problem was that they didn't have very many servers on the floor so our wait time was quite a bit and our food took a while as well. Our server was very kind, but not the most attentive because she had a lot of other tables. I love their teriyaki sauce and will stand by that it is the best in town, but even that couldn't help my over cooked and cold steak that was served to me in my Bento box. It was especially tough and was not a fantastic flavor. The sauce that they serve with the Tempura was also pretty flavorless. I remember having it and it having a little bit more punch. The other items in my box were good and I really enjoyed the salad with both dressings. I am wondering if it was an off day because usually things are fantastic? My last little qualm had to do with the high chair that we were given for my daughter. We asked for two high chairs as we had two toddlers with us. My daughter was the younger of the two by a year and we got a high chair that had the belt broken off of it. It did not make for a fantastic experience as she was trying to wiggle free for majority of the time. I should've just swapped out the high chairs with my niece but getting my daughter in the high chair to begin with wasn't very fun. Not really their fault I just wish we would've had one with a belt. I will most definitely return to Hiro again but maybe not order the same thing?

A classic sushi place! Today my sister and I tried three different rolls: HIRO Special, Columbia River, and West Coast. Our favorite was actually the Hiro special. But you can't go wrong with something topped with eel sauce. We also had the Raspberry Whisp and Classic Mojito for cocktails. Definitely get those! We went during happy hour. Definitely recommend! But their prices aren't terrible during regular hours as well. Fair warning, there are no kids meals/menus here, but if anyone orders the chicken fried rice, there is more than plenty to share with a kiddo. Nothing says Sunday like Sushi (plus happy hour)! My sister and I are trying all sushi restaurants in Omaha and this was our first one on the list! We split 3 rolls: Hiro Special, Colombian River, and the West Coast. We went during happy hour so the menu was limited but still good list of options! This place is great for adults who don't like sushi with some AMAZING entrees like teriyaki salmon, sesame chicken, and other staples! They do not have any kids menu or portions so not family friendly if you have little ones. Hiro has a great reverse happy hour (til 11pm) and as someone who eats late sometimes, this is super convenient for me. I had their bento box for lunch and I was really pleased with how much I got for the cost! I got seaweed salad, the California roll, salad, and teriyaki salmon. Really filling!

Love this place! They have a great happy hour deal- later than most which is great. I've tried several rolls and never been disappointed--the menu does a great job of describing the exact flavor and profile. Approachable menu, flavorful sauces, and a great drink list too. Prices are decent but I would recommend making a trip during happy hour for a great deals!

I was excited to try a new sushi spot that seemed to have a great happy hour. I should know not to stray. The sushi was just bad. The rice was gross and the fish not good. I took a bunch home and the hubs said it was not good and threw it away. The other appetizers were good and the stand out was the crab Rangoon. Super light crispy shell with a rich crab and cheese filing. My Bloody Mary came with a crab Rangoon which was cool. The prices were great for happy hour. Our server was nice and the service was awesome. I wouldn't come back here for sushi.

I have been to Hiro a million times because I just absolutely love their sushi. But this year we decided to go there for an impromptu Mother's Day dinner. We went in and put our names down and it was about an hour or so for a table for 5, which was completely understandable for it being Mother's Day. Once we were seated, we 100% expected to wait forever for service and even longer for our food, which would have been fine with us because again, it was a holiday so you just expect those things when you go out to eat on a busy holiday like that. MUCH to my surprise, the service was spot on. We barely sat down and they were filling out waters and the waitress was over asking if we wanted anything else to drink. Once we placed our drink orders, we decided to order appetizers too. They came out hot, quickly and fresh! Then we ordered about 11 different rolls! Yeah, I know, that was a lot! They came out surprisingly fast and again, everything was hot when needed to be and super fresh. It was all so good! We ordered so many but I have to say, as usual, the Las Vegas roll just hits the spot EVERY time!!!

This was my first time at Hiro and I loved it! I got the Mango Mojito and the Las Vegas roll. Our server was helpful and attentive and the booth we were sat at was close to the door but felt a little secluded which was nice! I will definitely be back.

Came here for lunch and ordered a three item bento box with teriyaki salmon, salmon sashimi, and spicy salmon roll along with a seaweed salad appetizer. The bento boxes also come with either a soup or a salad. I would rate overall food 3.5-4/5. The salmon teriyaki was good, but the portion has decreased dramatically since the last time I came. It was only like two bites. The salmon sashimi was very delicious and fresh, but I did not feel that about the spicy salmon rolls-those were average in my opinion. Our seaweed salad portion was also quite small and was not as flavorful as the previous times we have been here. Service was excellent 5/5. Food came out very fast and servers were very attentive and checked in frequently. I am a huge salmon lover and usually judge a sushi restaurant based off of their salmon. I can't speak to the other rolls but overall I was not super impressed by the salmon here and am not sure I would come back.

We walked in at 5:15 PM, sat down, and the place was packed within minutes. Not an empty seat in sight--good timing on our part! Our server greeted us quickly, and after a quick look at the drink menu, we went all in with water, Coke Zero (YES, a Coke Zero establishment!), and a cocktail--the amusingly named Sex in Okinawa. No regrets. As the sushi train made its rounds, we grabbed a crab rangoon. It was tasty but had cooled off from its little journey, so we opted for a fresh batch from the kitchen. The spring rolls? Crispy, hot, and on point. I did have to ask for sriracha a few times (our server kept forgetting), but to be fair, they were busy, so I didn't hold it against them. One thing we noticed was that some of the sushi rolls lacked descriptions. A tiny sign with ingredients would be helpful. I am a sushi newbie, and I wasn't about to roll the dice on a Volcano Roll without knowing what was inside. For what I did try: California rolls - classic and exactly what you'd expect. Sexy jalapeño - surprisingly good! (If there was fish in there, I didn't notice.) Tempura sweet potato roll - crispy, slightly sweet, and a winner. Pro tip: They offer a veteran/military discount, but double-check your receipt--ours wasn't applied at first, but they fixed it without issue. Final bill: about $68, and let's be honest, a good chunk of that was drinks. Not bad for a fun dinner out! Would I go back? Absolutely. There's plenty more to try, and the atmosphere makes for a great night with friends. Final Verdict: Worth the ride!

But there is a James Beard-level recognized chef here, in Omaha, that is delivering fresh-tasting raw and other omakase dishes week after week - geography be damned. His name is David Utterback. It's incredibly difficult to get reservations at this eight-seat omakase called Ota. Moreso than any omakase in my hometown on an island in the middle of the Pacific. In fact, I dont think he needs this review - the best don't need to advertise. I also don't think we have a sushi chef here in Hawaii that is as nationally-acclaimed as Utterback. So we were very interested to try. And we were very lucky to get reservations. I dont think there is a parking lot for this restaurant, which is tucked within his also highly-regarded Yoshitomo restaurant. So if you from Hawaii like me, and get lucky with the reservations, gotta roll da dice on parallel street parking. That's code for come early ;) (parking is free in the area) W-h-e-n you do arrive at Yoshitomo, there is a small - hidden - waiting area within Yoshitomo where you will be asked to wait for the omakase to begin. The dark photo with the lantern and Ota sign is in that waiting room. - And frankly - That's all that needs to be shown in a photo cause the omakase course itself varies depending on chef's tastes and what's available that week. The courses we had will likely not be the entirety of the courses you have. But the rice might be the same. There is a special black vinegar that chef uses to add to the rice. Ask him about it. There is a whole story behind it ;) So my photos are small in number. They are the highlights of our experience and what stood out to me that is beyond anything I've tried in Hawaii or elsewhere (including the black-vinegar sushi rice) Enjoy - cause we most certainly did :)
