The sushi was fresh but I felt like the sushi rice was a lot and kinda hard. My daughter was very happy with her sashimi. Many of our dishes didn't come out. I had to give a few reminders. The lady was the only one serving, taking orders, clearing the tables etc. Definitely overpriced food.

Visiting Medford after 15 years being away. My go to sushi spot is long gone and wanted to find a new one. Hiro sushi is my new sushi spot whenever I come to Medford. Service was great! Ambiance is nice and what you would expect from any other sushi spot. Thinking about going back for dinner. Compared to the sushi spots in Los Angeles this would be added to my "solid" level sushi spots that I could go to pretty frequently. Won't blow your socks off but perfect for every day enjoyment. Glad Medford has some Asian representation!

Wowza.... What an exceptional sushi dinner. We are traveling through Oregon and wanted to seek out some local sushi. Being from California we are spoiled with so much fresh fish. HIRO Sushi however had the freshest fish we have tried. It is apparent that Ryan the Owner has a unique gift and also takes great care in creating each dish. Even the avocado used in two of our rolls had the most excellent flavor. We will definitely be back next time we travel through Oregon and deer highly recommend you don't leave town without giving HIRO Sushi your business!!

Sashimi Combo A $27.00 (9 pieces *chef's choice)

It's not what it used to be *sadness* No longer a value. Sashimi Combo (9 pieces chef's choice) + miso soup $27.00. Just 3 months ago, the combo included miso soup + salad. I asked our served and she said, "No, my boss won't let us serve salad or rice with the combo anymore." Today the "combo" is just soup. You have to ADD+$3.00 salad or rice. So, the combination of sashimi + miso soup + salad is now $30.00. Gyoza appetizer is a-ok. 6-7 pieces for $12.00 I preferred THIS to the breaded calamari appetizer from the previous visit (think grocery outlet frozen section). Bento box (pick 2 proteins) + salad + rice = $28.00 A LOT of veggies to bulk up the bento box because they have gotten skimpy on the protein. Both the chicken and the beef were tasty, just a really small portion of each on a bed of raw shredded cabbage. Maybe a $12-14 value for lunch, but definitely not what I expected for a $28.00 dinner meal. I feel bad for the younger lady who runs the whole shift by herself :( She could really use some help in the front of house. She's usually on point, but she needs a day off. Good sashimi*thumbs up*

The experience was exceptional! Upon our arrival at 8pm, we had the restaurant all to ourselves. The ambiance was fantastic with tasteful decor and delightful music, creating a comfortable environment. Great deal of attention to cleanliness. While I usually prefer more patrons around to fairly assess the service, we were treated exceptionally well. The service was impeccable, offering great recommendations and being remarkably attentive, going the extra mile to warn us about the spiciness levels. The cuisine was outstanding, beautifully presented, and notably fresh, boasting a variety of exquisite flavors and textures. The menu was extensive, featuring a wide selection of sushi, main courses, starters, and delicious beverages. Our order of a hand roll and four sushi rolls totaled $74. I am quite comfortable spending $20 on a top-tier roll so I consider this place reasonably priced for the quality it delivers. It is truly worth it. For optimal service, I recommend dining after 6:30 pm. This has definitely become our preferred dining spot without a doubt.

Sushi spot in Medford with a creative and original menu. Ordered take out on a Friday- place wasn't empty but not especially full. The sushi was okay overall. I got the medford roll and the torched fish and sauce topping saved the flavour but for rolls without that it was a bit lackluster. Overall wouldn't mind it again, maybe the best you'll get in Medford

Way overpriced, unfriendly, small portions. I know sushi is pricey usually anyway, but I have tried this place a couple of times, as I live right nearby, I possibly might try some other things on the menu, if they have more to choose from. The miso soup was just ok. read more

I have to admit I was surprised to find such good Sushi in Medford of all places but why should I be, great sushi chefs live in all corners of the US. I don't know the story behind this place or it's Chef but he is quite obviously a very experienced sushi chef. As any experienced Sushi enthusiast will tell you the rice is key. And Hiro does not disappoint. After that it's about the fresh cuts of fish. As you can see in the photo these were plentiful cuts made with the precision and consistency of a master. This place could hold its own with some of the best sushi places in the US. Thank you Hiros for an amazing New Year's sushi meal. Happy New Year! read more

Excellent sushi - fresh and exquisitely prepared and presented. The best sushi I've had in southern Oregon. We had the Fantasy, Caterpillar, and International rolls. Each was quite delicious. A tasty miso soup and totally addictive garlic edamame started us off. Awesome. Oh. And a surprise matcha mochi ice cream (on a steek...) to top us off. Quick and friendly service. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Ordered from this place for delivery. Don't bother. We ordered 2 rolls and the bill before tip was $28. When it arrived, there were a total of 10 pieces and some were about a 1/2 inch thick! Flavor was 'ok' but we'll not be ordering from there again. It was a rip off. read more

We're always looking for good sushi places and they can be hard to find. This place did not disappoint. We ordered 4 rolls and all were very good, however I have to say the Big Daddy roll was amazing!! This wasn't the best sushi we have ever had but it was in the top 3. If your in the area and wanting sushi give this place try you won't regret it! read more

This is my go to sushi place in Medford. The rolls are awesome, fresh ingredients, they never disappoint. Tried many rolls here all have been fantastic. Price anywhere from $7-15 depending on type of roll. If you are going for sushi, you won't be disappointed. I took away one star because service is never really great. It's somewhat chaotic and sometimes you can be waiting quite a while for service and/or food. Also, the teriyaki is just average. Nothing special there. The standout is definitely their sushi! read more

I only expect 9/10 or better experiences from 4.5 stars yelp reviewed restaurants. Biggest part of great dining experience for me is the dollar for dollar factor (Cost vs satisfaction). Although sushi quality was great, the price tag that follows are highly over-priced. When I asked for a side of Japanese mint (shiso) leaves so I could add some flavors with my sushi, a young lady politely said 'no' with reasons I could not hear but I think she said they don't have a lot of it so they can't provide it. Fried oyster was so so, tempura udon was definitely not worth $15, monk fish liver quality was also not up to par with $15 price tag. Their Uni was top notch grade though. I spent a little over $100 between my wife and I here. I've had better Sushi dining experiences for under $100. Food Quality : 8/10 Staff : 7/10 Cost effectiveness : 3/10 (about 25% higher price tag but premise and atmosphere don't justify it) read more

I'm not sure how this place is rated 4.5/5. Oh right, because the Rogue Valley is suffering for truly good food! I'm not saying good restaurants don't exist here, just that they are the minority, and this isn't one of them. Average, uninspired sushi joint. No real ambiance, food was ok, but not good, overpriced. One bright spot was the Little Bomb appetizer. There may be a few other good items, but when only one item ordered out of six is good, that's a bad average, and I'm not willing to spend more of my money to find the diamonds in the rough. Hiro Sushi is our family's favorite! Not only is the food perfect every time, and the service kind and helpful, but the people who run it are really great people. My husband is a sushi guy and without equal this is his favorite sushi spot. The fish is always fresh. The Chicken Teriyaki (my favorite) is always made perfectly! This place is amazing! I was so pleasantly surprised by this sushi place. The owner/chef and his family were so lovely. For Medford, the sushi is top notch. I highly recommend this place. Their small sake list has a really good but pricey bottle (their most expensive) which I'm now dedicated to finding elsewhere because it was that good. Ordered a bunch of sushi pieces and everything was very fresh. The rice was perfect. There's nothing bad to say about this place. If you need a sushi fix in Oregon, this is the place. read more

I have never seen the menu before and ordered a roll that was the least expensive (everything was way overpriced) I quickly looked to see what was in it and ordered it. What I got was a greasy roll that I wasn't expecting. I went back and kindly pointed out that I didn't know that it was fried and could get another roll. It wasn't eaten, not one bite. Sadly, they pointed out the fine print and it said (fried). I apologized for not seeing it. Not only did they berate me almost angrily for asking for something else, I was embarrassed humiliated by them and they refused to help me. I literally left in tears. Horrible customer service and way over priced. Just beware that if you mess up on your order, they're not nice about it.

The, and I selected the 12-piece menu item, was really good, but I do wish there was more variety of fish in a 12-piece dish. Miso is served with the sashimi but rice is not. I also ordered the Ikura Nigiri and it was great - salmon roe was very cold though (needs to be stored at a certain temp, I get it) so I waited for it to not feel frozen before finishing the second piece. Overall, great serving size but I don't know if I'd get the same sashimi again since you only get four kinds of fish for a rather high cost. I tried asking the server what the difference was between the 9 and 12 piece and they did say "more of the same but better" and I'm still not sure what it means so the next time they update the menu they really should offer more detail on this item.

In a word....Authentic! I saw the "Grand Opening" sign and just had to stop for lunch to go. As a younger man, and a sailor in Atsugi Japan, I often stopped at the street-side vendors at the bus station near my base on the way home from a night in Tokyo to have a breakfast of Udon. Since being back state-side, I have tried many times to find anyone who could replicate that amazing flavor and am always left a little disappointed....until now! I described the dish that I remember and the Hostess identified it as Nabe Udon and said that although it was not on the menu, she would whip up a bowl for me and sure enough, the flavor that I have been searching for for 22 years was in that bowl! Thank you! Now as far as the rest of the meal, it was the chef's choice of Sashimi and all the fish was fresh and firm...quite enjoyable:-) I will definitely be bringing my wife there on our next date to try the Sushi rolls. read more

After reading previous reviews, I decided to try it. I ordered the Bento with three entries. The Miso Soup is Miso Soup, mine was not that hot and the cubes of tofu were scarce, maybe 3 or 4 and no added green onion. The Salad was a lettuce and carrot salad with a dressing that was very bland and nothing exciting. My Bento was served on a platter, not in a Bento container. The Teriyaki Chicken was very ordinary with a thin, ordinary teriyaki sauce. The Tempura Mix included one shrimp, one onion ring, one piece of squash, one piece of zucchini and one large piece of broccoli which was tough and yellow in parts, meaning it was past being fresh. The California Roll was the worst. The "fake krab" smelled horrible. Needless to say, I did not eat it. Given their prices and atmosphere, they are not worth a second trip. You can do better than this --- and I have --- in the Rogue Valley. read more

I found this place when I drove to see my friend in Seattle. It was really wonderful sushi experience!! Fresh sushi & beautiful rolls. Great portion with reasonable price. No complain for the food quality and excellent service. The owner, I think his name is Hiro or Sushi Hero?? was very funny and amazing skills..
