$292 per person. Nearly everything was 1 piece of nigiri. This place soars in cost for quantity and the quality is so below average. If this sushi is "fresh" to you Bay Area folks then that is rough. We are from San Diego and everything is better. Our o toro is a 30 minute boat ride and you can catch it easily. This o toros color was brighter and less fresh. They also serve raw scallop, some horribly nearly fake crab leg, some soup, etc. My Hommie had his 40th bday and this place was high on his list. After what I've introduced him to in San Diego this place was so disappointing to all of us. It's somewhat specials I guess but it's not that great. Service was nice though. Lady never let our sake go dry and was hyper fast at removing plates. Decor is nice. Minimal and simple, but bright inside. Maybe turn down the lights a notch. I can't give this place more than 1 star. I'm not that picky but when you experience something better, at 1/3 the price on a weekly basis it's hard not to rate this place better. Good luck place.

One of the Best Omakase Experiences in the Bay Area! This was truly one of the best omakase experiences I've had in the Bay Area. Chef Jason was phenomenal and made the entire experience special by explaining every dish in detail, from where the ingredients came from to how each piece was prepared. All the fish was flown in directly from Japan, and you could taste the difference in every bite. The uni was absolutely incredible. Chef Jason explained that it's premium grade and never preserved, which is rare because many places use preserved uni that can have a bitter aftertaste. Here, it was unbelievably fresh, creamy, and sweet. Honestly, the best uni I've ever had. The service was top-notch. Every staff member was respectful, kind, and attentive, and you could tell they really cared about providing a great dining experience. The interior was spotless, elegant, and beautifully designed, making the whole evening even more enjoyable. From start to finish, everything was perfect. I can't wait to come back and experience it all over again. Highly recommend this spot if you truly love omakase and want to connect with the chef while enjoying the freshest sushi in the Bay Area.

Best sushi omakase experience in the neighborhood, best anago i ever tried, better than Japan. Quiet place with gorgeous interior, perfect place to celebrate something.

My friend and I came to celebrate the holidays. The reservation process was easy but you do have to pre pay. The restaurant itself is beautiful with dim lighting. Our chef was Jason, who was wonderful & also entertaining. The servers/ host staff could have been more helpful, my friend didn't realize there was a basket under her chair so when she pulled the chair out & tried to sit down she tripped over the basket (the host was standing right there & should have informed her). The sushi was delicious, the majority of the pieces melted in your mouth. The wasabi was fresh & the chef did a great job with the flavor profiles.

Over due review alert! Omakase sushi is Michelin worthy. First place I had mackerel that I wanted more of! The plates and cups were artwork and the service was zen-like. I'm not sure what the price tag is today but 3 years ago it was steep! Came there for a testing day of their brunch menu. Delicious, hearty, and under 100$. I've had much worse for more than that! My only note for that more recent experience is that my clam chawanmushi had sand in it :( I would come back again if the price was just a little more affordable!

First impression was that the service is a hot mess. Since there is no cancellation reservation, and made a point to email us about to be on time (early actually). When we got there 15 minutes early, we were informed by the guests waiting around, not a host, that they were 1) running behind schedule 2) would probably commence 10 minutes later then the promised time, 3) and no clear reason was given. We were taken in 15 minutes after our reservation time. No apology from the host, and was ushered to our seats. For the omakase experience, I base my experience on two things: how well they fry things - tempura, and how good their bloody fish are - mackerel. I will say their fried stuff was good, for the mackerel, let's just say I can still taste the rawness. I enjoyed my experience with my sushi chef - Jason. But they got to get a new host. Charging premium $500 a dinner? Service has to come along with. Cannot be just being comfortable sourcing your fish from Japan.

Came for the 17 course omakase, everything was incredibly fresh and very very clean. We sat at the bar and got to watch the chef prepare each piece!

UPDATE! This review is for the Wagyu Tasting Omakase Tasting Menu. I've been to a lot of omakase spots in the Bay, but I've never been to one that offers a Wagyu tasting so I knew I had to see what's up so here I am. Hiroshi serves an 11 course Wagyu omakase that is showcased through a variety of styles including but not limited to Yakiniku, Yukke, Nigiri, Shabu Shabu, Sukiyaki, etc. The service here is great and the chefs are very creative in their thought process of each course. This restaurant is very beautifully decorated and their bathroom is very fancy haha iykyk. Overall, I had a great experience here. I definitely recommend checking this spot out. Try it out if you like. :)

We visited Hiroshi with another couple, drawn by its strong reputation and high expectations. There were two set menus available that evening -- one focused on sushi and the other on wagyu -- so each couple ordered one of each. The ambiance was lovely, service attentive, and the presentation, including the dishware, was beautiful. However, the sushi rice was dry and crumbly -- far from what one would expect from proper Japanese sushi. While the dishes were clearly crafted with creativity, the flavor balance was off, and the quality of the sushi toppings wasn't particularly impressive. The place has a refined, upscale vibe, and the pricing is definitely on the high end -- but unfortunately, the quality didn't quite live up to the price.

Definitely a must try. Sushi was high quality. Ordered more of what I wanted. Good pairing with sake.

Went here for a birthday dinner with my friends to try their wagyu omakase and it... was everything. I loved the concept because it was something different than a traditional omakase. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and they have some of the prettiest dish ware. Even though it's all small plates, I left feeling very full. They also surprised me with extra ice cream dessert for my birthday along with a song so that was a special treat, the service here definitely goes above and beyond.

This was my first real Omakase experience! Came here 3 months ago but never got around to leaving a review. Looking at Yelp, I can't believe all the negative reviews. Especially saying the food is bland and plain? The flavors are amazing!! We had the 17 course meal with 2 cocktails each and a bottle of sake. It was very expensive! About $500 a person with a 20% mandatory tip. Our chef was Jason. He was very pleasant and easy to talk to. We enjoyed his company was thankful he shared his life history with us. It was really cool watching him do everything in front of us. As for the meal, everything brought out to us was delicious. It was definitely a teaser!! I can eat sushi all day! Unfortunately, I was still hungry at the end! But I guess this is how Omakase is. Maybe I'll come back if someone else was paying the bill. Not sure if $500 a person is worth the food and experience though. But I have to admit. The restroom is VERY nice and super clean! They have an infinity mirror (I think that's what you call it) over the sink.

    17 course

Came on a Monday night for a birthday dinner which was so nice as not many omakase restaurants are open on Mondays. It was our first time here so I can't tell you what weekends are like but def recommend dining at the bar on a weeknight as it was not crowded and we had a wonderful experience with Chef Jason. The quality of the food was so fresh and the robust and unique flavor pairings were delightful and well crafted. We also got the house brewed black sake which was on the sweet side compared to the white sake which was said to be dry (it was sold out). Not usually a sweet sake person but it was really good.

Will you leave still hungry? Are there add-ons available after the omakase portion if you want more?…

    We were full.

Do they still do take out?

At around the end of August (about 1.5 months ago) they are only selling take out. I would be surprised if they no longer do this.

This place seems kind of inexpensive. Can anyone recommend a more upscale place nearby? $2K or more per person would be best.

    LOLLLL

$575 per person is a huge price hike if that doesn't include tax and tip. Does it?

Do they only accept parties of 8? Would they accept a reso for 2 if you still pay the whole $4000? Would they be willing to pack the other 6 portions into doggie bags?

I feel like the value here is pretty good, especially considering the 3 item bento is only $20.95 which is the cost of a 2 item bento at many other Japanese restaurants. The quality, on the other hand, was just ok. Chicken teriyaki was on the stringy side, sashimi didn't feel super fresh, batter on chicken karaage was soggy (though chicken itself was juicy), and the rolls in the Kakaroto sushi sashimi combo were hot which half-cooked the sashimi which was not great. They also used the same teriyaki sauce on many dishes, including the rolls, the teppan sizzling plate, and even the dipping sauce for the chicken karaage. Didn't feel like the teriyaki sauce for chicken karaage was fitting since it usually comes with a kewpie mayo instead. The prawns in the teppan sizzling plate were also clearly from frozen shrimp and weren't fresh at all. Overall I think the quality was a bit of a miss. Service was friendly though and food came quickly. Miso soups did arrive at different times and we had to request missing ones as they were forgotten.

The interior is welcoming and you walk into restaurant with the chefs preparing the sushi to the left and seating in front of them and several tables. There is no outside seating.
