You know how you can find a restaurant or bakery on social media and absolutely fall in love with the idea of the place but then get there and actually try their products and be super disappointed? Well that was the complete opposite of what happened with Hive bakery. I was following them for a while online and finally got the chance to go in and try a few of their desserts. Their cookie dough brownie was probably the best brownie I've had in my entire life, and I've traveled all over the country trying different bakeries. The bakery itself was also beautifully decorated and well stocked on different shirts and merchandise as well. Service was good the person at the counter was very patient with us while I gushed over everything and kept adding to my purchase pile. Love it! Neatest little bakery, got those sweet gothy alt vibes, lots of personality. Apparently they're primarily a professional "buy order" specialty business, but despite their small size they do have a nice selection of impulse purchases. My husband stopped last night and picked up some baked goods. The cupcakes are difficult to eat due to their height, but most cupcakes are. Cute interior - 2 stars. I really wanted to support this place because of their political views but a business is still a business and in the end I want to be greeted, buy something yummy, and have the things I want to be available when I visit the store. Their showcases were nearly empty with 2+ hours left til closing, they didn't have halfnhalf, the employee kept giving false info, they didn't clearly list things on their menu, many of their baked goods were not labeled, the employee wasn't helpful in multiple ways when prompted, the coffee cups were leaking/dripping all over the place, ... the list goes on but I'll stop. The ultimate take away from my visit was mass confusion and disappointment. I hope to come back and give them another try but for now I am sad and disappointed. read more

Tried 3 cookies: gingerbread, oatmeal with raisins, and soft sugar. All 3 tasted freshly made and were DELICIOUS. The gingerbread and sugar cookies had thick icing, but were not overly sweet. Been meaning to check out Hive Bakery for the last year, just never had the chance or time until today. We went in for their Taylor Swift themed deserts, and let me just say none of it disappointed! Ran in to pick up a few treats for myself and my daughter. Picked up a red velvet cupcake and 2 of each macaroon flavor they had for the day - strawberry, banana pudding, Oreo, and birthday cake. They were adorable. Our favorites were strawberry and birthday cake, the banana pudding tasted exactly like a banana laffy taffy and the Oreo tasted like coconut which I am not a fan of, but plenty people love it, my daughter enjoyed it. Now the red velvet cupcake OHMYGOD so good, I made myself save some for later because I won't be back in the area to pick up another one until next month. Not only did the store smell heavenly: like yeast and warm sugar, but the young women manning the register and filling the orders were professional, calm, kind, and welcoming, even on the 23rd of December with a line of people out the door. I'll add here that it was a windy 20°F when we visited and there was no shortage of people waiting patiently for their turn to purchase their favorites. Now onto the cookies. We limited ourselves to them for our purchases on this adventure and we are not sorry. As you can see in the photo, they are gorgeous - but that didn't deter us from eating them! Easily the best bakery cookies either of us has ever had. Hands down. There are vegan and GF options, which are delicious, and you can't go wrong with any choice of delectable carb bomb from Hive.
