Came here at lunchtime - attending a conference in the hotel. Had the chopped salad. It was a small portion. I don't mind that if the food is excellent. It was not, the salad was way overdressed. The craft cocktails are creative and the food menu items have bold flavors that my wife likes to refer to as a party in your mouth. I'd put the atmosphere of the place as a relaxed high-energy environment. Feels like more of a lounge than a restaurant. My friends and I did High Tea at The Breakers yesterday and it was nice but slightly disappointing. I've had tea at a good many places and since it was "The Breakers" I may have set my expectations too high. The atmosphere is very grand and the tables and chairs are low and comfortable for some and uncomfortable for others. The chairs are very deep and there is no way a person could cross their legs at the low tables. This didn't bother me but my friend found this very uncomfortable. The waiter started off with a negative which is never good! He stressed that we would get ONE scone each and we could choose between buttermilk or blueberry. He probably repeated this two or three times which immediately made us want more than one scone. What could the cost of an extra scone be? We were too discouraged to ask. The clotted cream and other condiments were served in tiny shot sized cups. Barely enough clotted cream for one person let alone four of us! For 70.62 per person with tax and tip (20% tip was added to the check) I think the restaurant could have offered a second scone or another shot glass of clotted cream. The buttermilk "scone" was more of a biscuit than a scone. The glass teapots were charming and the tea tasted great but the pots didn't properly strain out the tea leaves which was unattractive in the teacup. The tea sandwiches were fine. The deserts were very good. Chocolate covered strawberries, key lime tarts, etc, etc... It was a beautiful setting but it felt slightly spoiled by a waiter that was fearful of running out of scones!!! read more

Exceptionally beautiful spot in Florida. Atmosphere: There are few spots like this in Florida, and this is one of the nicest bar + restaurant combinations to visit outside of Miami. The Breakers is a unique experience and the decor is old-world and stunning. Food & drinks: They have a fancy menu to fit the setting, but the quality of the dishes and drinks are lower than the price point (and I usually end up underwhelmed), especially compared to other high quality restaurants and bars on the island. Service: People who work here are beautiful and dress impeccably. However, unless you know the rules and have proper expectations set for parking + reservations + ordering + wait times, it can be quite frustrating and difficult to have a smooth experience. read more

After enjoying the complimentary sugared/candied cashews, we ordered the shrimp pad thai, Maine lobster garganelli and an order of tuna sashimi. Everything was absolutely delicious! The shrimp pad thai was light but packed with flavor. The garganelli was some of the best "mac n cheese" type of dish we've had, though it was too rich for a main meal. The waitresses are all beautiful, sweet, attentive but not too obtrusive. Only thing that's an issue is the fact that they do t take reservations, which is a pain on weeknights and/or holidays. read more

I came to HMF while visiting Palm Beach. The restaurant is on the ground level of the Breakers Hotel. The Hotel architecture is absolutely beautiful. The tables are set up with couches and comfy chairs. My friend and I were able to walk in on a Saturday evening without a reservation. The cocktails were made really well. For food, the menu is mostly small plates and tapas. We shared the reggiano and onion dip to start. The dip was very good but a bit thick and I felt it would have been better with bread rather than chips. Then we had the grilled artichokes. They came with a delicious sauce. We also had the chicken tacos. They were served in a hard shell. We shared the lamb sliders. They were served on a small pita type roll. They were amazing! It was my favorite part of the meal. We also shared the orecchiette pasta with duck sausage and mushrooms. It was delicious. Their menu is really nice and extensive with many options and different types of cuisine. They also had sushi. WORST HIGH TEA EVER High tea can seem overpriced, but the variety, novelty and visual presentation of the food is usually rewarding enough, surprisingly filling and fun. Not here Everything about this one bordered on hostile, in its substance and delivery. Just making the reservation required three tries, being transferred, and being put on hold repeatedly. For what ends up being nearly $100 PER PERSON with taxes & fees, you'll have some sad & unsatisfying tiny sandwiches (disappointing egg salad, barely existent lobster on too much bread, ok chicken salad and tasteless-but-pretty 'ratatouille'. The only thing they got right was the 'tiny' part. They could easily have thrown in a mimosa as a consolation here. You can choose only ONE of two scones, which were delicious, though not tiny, and the only thing that kept us from ordering burgers afterward. Why couldn't they have made smaller scones and let everyone try both flavors? Dessert wasn't anything to write home about either; boring chocolate things, two different macarons for three people, chocolate-dipped strawberries a toddler could have made, and two different unidentifiable things (again, for three people). Whoopee. We waited and waited to be acknowledged while other tables were served. Waited to get tea. Waited to get food. No one cleared the fourth setting at our table. Were given fresh napkins for dessert, but no one took away the first ones. We're nice people and good tippers, and we were there to celebrate, but the mood here was almost glum Not once did our waitress ask if we wanted cocktails or water or more tea when our pots ran out (we wanted all three). Who's training these people? At least the man who cleared the table was friendly and on his game. And get this: the servers were all white women, overdressed for a cocktail party, and the bussers were people of color, dressed for serving. All of them. Holy cow. It was neither a festive nor a welcoming environment. Even the chairs were crazy uncomfortable; you can't lean back & touch the backs of them, and the ones with arms keep you too far from the table. You should be seated comfortably if you're going to be ignored for so long. If you'd like to see The Breakers, go for a drink. I was so disappointed by the HMF food, I can't even believe it. I ordered such an assortment of food and the only thing that was good was the burrata cheese. Pizza: burnt crust and doughy center Maui Maui tacos: just plain and boring. Wontons: not cooked or pan seared on the outside, really doughy Cheese plate: nothing special, average cheese and presentation was somethings my child could have done at home. I used to be a fanboi of the Tapestry Bar and I was sad to see it go too. Much like the other locals I too felt apprehension about the "New" HMF bar/restaurant and what it would offer. Much like a blind date, I tried to go in with an open mind. It was like looking for the person that seemed to be looking for me as I scanned the room. Then, a smoking hot woman comes up from behind and asks me if I was looking for her, my blind date. And the date turned in to marriage. HMF is quite a transition for the Breakers. I applaud what I feel was a risk to open this type of social gathering place. My recommendation is to simply try it our for yourself. Don't decide based on reviews like mine or from people that think that a salad and soup place is the best there is. Like a blind date, go in with an open mind and maybe you too will end up married!! Now on with my likes- Amazingly creative drinks but don't do like me and try them all. You won't make it. Great food that you will not get anywhere else in PBC. Came here for pre-birthday drinks/dessert based on a friend's recommendation. The place just oozes class and made us feel oh so fancy. Valet parking is free if you get it validated by the host(ess); otherwise it's $30. We opted to sit at the bar since we weren't getting much and wouldn't have to wait. Both bars were open - one seemed a LOT more crowded for some reason, so we went to the other one which was the sushi station. We were promptly greeted by a server, who provided excellent service throughout the night. I got the Chanel #6, he got the New York Sour, and we shared a baked alaska. Both drinks were made well and not too sweet, but nothing to write home about. The baked alaska, filled with a thin bottom layer of red velvet and neapolitan ice cream, was just ok. The passion fruit (?) drizzle was delicious, tart, and offered a nice contrast to all the sweetness on the plate. We both enjoyed the jazz music until it became "clubby" as the night went on, aka our cue to leave. From the designer uniforms, the perfectly coifed hair styles and abundance of everything lavish, decadent and exquisite. Drinks were fabulous. Really dig their signature drinks and for dessert. Oh my. Dessert tapas anyone?? Yes. Don't miss their baked Alaska! There is I dance floor here. As its z mingling place. But it is not uncommon for dancing in the aisles, This place gets Jammin. HMF is a different vibe from the rest of the Breakers. It's got a ritzy modern take on midcentury decor, food, and drinks. We came for after dinner cocktails and dessert, but I'd stop back in to try the small plates. It's definitely Breakers prices. The wine list was extensive, and I sipped a couple of glasses of red while my partner sipped on a minty, creamy grasshopper. It was just the right shade of bright midcentury green. We went full vintage and ordered the Baked Alaska, but alas, it was just too alcoholic tasting for my palate. The browned meringue on top was delicious, as was the ice cream center, but the bottom crust was so soaked in liquor that I couldn't taste much of anything else. I know it's supposed to be part of the charm, but it was a little much for me. It is always fun to order a flaming dessert, though, so no regrets! There was a DJ set up and spinning tunes, a young crowd who was dressed to impress, and great service. Everyone we encountered was a young, friendly, on trend person. Yes, while it is a drastic change from the old fashioned tapestry bar, it is also a step towards a modernization for the hotel. We recently celebrated our anniversary at HMF and had a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived, we felt as though everyone there was celebrating with us. The food was wonderful. Drinks were very well crafted and tasted amazing. Choose HMF restaurant to properly celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary, and HMF did not disappoint. Just the drive down Breaker's way was spectacular in setting the stage for our dining experience. Palm trees, fountains, a beautiful golf course hug you on the drive up to the valet. The bold and the beautiful were arriving as we exited our car. Upon entering we first thought are we were in Cuba in its heyday in the 50's as the hotel entrance is spectacular. After a brief stroll of the Breaker's hotel property we found and got seated in HMF with it's beautiful seating, spectacular bar, open kitchen, high ceilings, the DJ was playing, there was a buzz a vibe all around us. Had 2 proper cocktails to wet the appetite and take in the scenery, then we started with an opening course of prosciutto with figs and Parmesan, hello success. Next came 2 very good sushi rolls followed by swordfish kebobs served Greek style. Sushi was 5 star, swordfish was a disappointment, slightly dry, just didn't wow us. I went to HMF at The Breakers this evening. The drinks at the bar while waiting for a table were good and the service was outstanding from Thalia (bartender). Unfortunately, once our table was ready and we had Kathryn G. As our server everything went downhill. Kathryn didn't take our order correctly and we ended up waiting for an item that she never put in. The manager did come over though probably because Kathryn knew we were not happy with the subpar poor level of service she provided. Even as our appetizers were brought out there was never anyone around to bring us appetizer plates. I had to get up and ask a busboy to bring us some plates. We also had to wait quite a long time for Kathryn to even check on our table to realize she screwed up our order. All in all, the hotel itself is gorgeous and there are many restaurants on site. However, I will steer clear of HMF (Henry Morrison Flagler) Restaurant die to the poor level of service we experienced this evening. I'm originally from Los Angeles, but we just bought a house in south of Boca, came to West Palm Beach this weekend on our new boat, searching for a nice restaurant to have dinner with our friends, came across HMF at the Breakers Hotel. As soon as we drove into the breakers, I knew I would like this place (plus I always read the reviews before I go and seen some photos). We walked into the hotel lobby, the ceilings and the walls are painted beautifully and reminds me of an European cathedral!! The most amazing and glamourus hotel lobby I've ever seen, then we walked up to HMF, all the hostesses and bartenders were friendly and very attractive, beautiful decor and love the chandeliers, live DJ playing nice electro music not too loud, the food is tapas style, Asian fusion which I love since I'm Asian, everything we ordered was good, lettuce cup, short rib, duck in Chinese bun, shrimp pad Thai...
