I've had an incredibly frustrating and honestly unacceptable experience with HOA Nexus. For over 9 years, I've paid my HOA dues expecting basic accountability--especially when it comes to maintaining the exterior of my home, which is their responsibility. I reported a roof leak that caused water intrusion into my unit--clearly an exterior issue. I was given verbal approval to move forward, and based on that, walls were opened to assess the damage. Only after the damage was exposed did HOA Nexus suddenly backtrack and deny responsibility. That is completely unacceptable. You don't give the green light, allow demolition, and then walk away from the situation. Now I'm left dealing with open walls, and a disrupted living space--all while being told this somehow isn't covered. It raises a serious question: what exactly have I been paying HOA insurance for all these years if I can't rely on it when there is obvious exterior-related damage? To make matters worse, communication has been terrible. Emails go unanswered, and there is no transparency or accountability. It feels like they are intentionally avoiding responsibility instead of addressing a legitimate issue. This has been a stressful, drawn-out experience that no homeowner should have to go through. I would strongly caution anyone dealing with HOA Nexus to document everything and not rely on verbal approvals--they clearly don't stand by them. read more

Website doesn't work. I informed them twice to input my tenants details on their end since it wasn't working on my end. They did not input my tenants details. My tenant as a result did not receive vital bulletins regarding a leak. The leak was then discovered in my tenants unit and they wanted to charge an investigation fee for discovering it there. Long story short if their website worked my tenant who is a responsible guy would have looked for a leak and reported it, no need to pay a plumber to investigate. They should be eating the investigative fee for operating a non functioning website that does not work as it is supposed to. read more

If you are looking for the worst possible service in your lifetime, go ahead and hire them. I'm nearly 60 years old and this company provided the absolutely worst service I have ever experienced with any company in my entire life. Responsiveness is their biggest issue. A majority of the time it took weeks to get a reply to repeated emails. This had a negative domino effect. Oftentimes the responses would be incomplete and would require more emails to be sent to which you might get an answer or none at all. All in all, it would then drag out for additional weeks or until you gave up. AT LEAST A COUPLE TIMES IT TOOK OVER A MONTH TO GET AN INITIAL RESPONSE. When complaining about the slow responsiveness, we were told that we should pay a higher rate to get a quicker response or that we should use their app or call. Oftentimes their app didn't work. They replaced their app at least three times in five years, (most likely because it didn't work). Most of the time when I called, nobody answered and nobody replied... also as an officer I wanted written statements to provide as proof or to forward on to owners. If Ryan had spent as much time and effort as he does in trying to defend and deflect and excuse the negative reviews the company could have performed better, but he didn't. Repeatedly they excused their slow response time citing some statistics that would suggest they aren't slow to reply but in my opinion are outright false. Read other reviews and you will find a common negative theme. Note well, in the reviews not recommend, it appears that the owner tried to write a review of his own company which demonstrates his lack of honesty or integrity. I'm a board member on a smaller east county property they manage. As someone who myself manages properties for a living, I couldn't possibly recommend them any less: 1. When we e-mail our property manager for contracted services like soliciting bids, or accounting related questions, there is maybe a 20% chance we'll receive any response AT ALL. Movement requires constant followup and there are never any status updates. 2. Shockingly unprofessional communication with outside entities when representing our board and HOA. 3. As other review's have noted, nothing is ever ever their fault. Theres always an excuse, never an apology. Just shocking defensiveness. Their lapses have cost us real money and board members have had to catch their mistakes time and time again Note that HOA Nexus, like lots of other management companies, structures it's contracts such that they aren't ultimately responsible for doing much of anything at all. Even if you have a higher management package they can contractually drag their feet and believe you me they will. Except when they themselves are owed money-then they're on top of things. It started out not-great and has just gotten progressively worse over the years. Our volunteer board has to work far more than we should to stay on top of the work we pay them to manage. Communication is terrible and any time I have to reach out to HOA nexus I know it's going to be drawn out. I am talking to myself in email threads constantly with no response. Sometimes it's a simple question I need answered and sometimes it's a real issue. When a pipe burst (which was the HOA's responsibility), I ended up paying a significant amount out of pocket for a plumber and still haven't been reimbursed. Not only that zero communication or updates on where they are with reimbursing me and still no call back as I have requested multiple times. read more

I would rate this HOA Nexus team one of the best in the city. I have lived at Pacific Racquet Townhomes for 39 years and have never had a problem with this management company. Previous companies have been adequate and one very poor one. This particular community is hard to manage because it consists of two distinct phases, each with its own unique problems. My wife and I have served on the boards intermittently over the years. We would have loved to have worked with HOA Nexus during our board service. I am on the board of an association that selected HOA Nexus as our property management company. I must advise all prospective board-members to stay FAR AWAY from HOA Nexus. You will have a pleasant initial experience as they onboard you, but you will quickly start to notice problems that seem to be a theme across many of these reviews. First, they almost never completed a project. We had project after project get abandoned. Follow-up emails go nowhere. We had a project we followed-up on for over 8 months with zero responses. Then other emails to them would get an immediate reply. It really seems to depend if Ryan is sitting at his desk. One of these projects we asked them to start was a reserve study. For over 8 months we frequently emailed to ask if they had started finding vendors, or what the status was. There were 0 replies. 0. When I started emailing daily because of how ridiculous waiting 8 months for a response was, I get an extremely defensive email from Ryan saying that they answer all emails in the order they get them and produced some ridiculous stats about the number of messages they get each day. He spent all the time producing that report, and not a second on addressing or being apoplectic that they had so severely dropped the ball. He suggested that if we paid them more we could get an SLA on their responses, which we had requested weeks earlier but again, they are unable to view or respond to all the messages they get from us so we couldn't even increase our package with them to have a defined SLA. I wouldn't encourage any prospective customers to buy that SLA thinking it would get their solution fixed - HOA Nexus is disreputable and should not be trusted. Please save yourself and your association pain and find someone - anyone else. Edit: I appreciate Ryan's uncharacteristically quick reply to this review. If they had this sort of responsiveness to their paying customers and not a sales channel they would have a functioning business! But folks should inspect his response very closely to see what he did: 1. He provided confidential information about our association without our permission and the work he claims they provided for us. This appears to be a pattern with HOA Nexus, as they improperly provided us another associations sensitive documents when closing our accounts. I am assuming he notified them of this concerning lapse of fiduciary responsibility - let's find out! 2. He claims there were opportunities offered for us to attend "extended office hours", which aside from never being communicated in the first place was never disclosed as being required to receive a response within an 8 month timeframe on critical projects like reserve studies. 3. He asserts the board picked from a menu of their services and agreed to pay them for 8 months of them not responding to a single email regarding a critical project. The best service they offer would only be that they would *respond* to such an email, not that they would make any commitment in terms of actually delivering for their customers. This is disingenuous. As someone who routinely manages and sets SLAs, I understand the difference between purchasing a service without an SLA and purchasing a service that refuses to deliver at all. HOA Nexus is the latter. They don't simply lack an SLA, they lack any sense of a commitment to deliver. Changing a contract is not the solution - changing their behavior is. It is unacceptable for them to respond to communications on a "I happened to be sitting at my computer basis". Period. 4. He claims he provided us options to increase their services with us. Again, when we inquired about doing so those messages were also ignored. But see point 3. The issue is not about an SLA of response time. read more

Unresponsive, condescending, and rude. We had them as our property management company for our building for about 1 year, and in that time span, they cut services, increased costs, and we rotated through 4 property managers, each worse than the last. When you call your "property manager," you reach some kind representatives in a call center in the Philippines, who do their best to route your call to your absentee property manager, who never returns your calls. During board meetings, email follow-ups, and basic requests, it became abundantly clear that those working at this company don't know the basics, such as how to run a simple HOA meeting. Meetings regularly start late with lack of direction, so our Board President had to step in and basically do the entire job we overpay this property management to do. Frustrated at not receiving a response to have a spare key delivered (after 6 weeks of trying), I decided to go to their "office" which is an unmarked shoebox-sized office near Costco with a lone accountant working there. He disclosed to me that they have a giant pile of paper financial documents they don't even know how to begin to sort through for our building, yet somehow they knew they needed to increase all our HOA fees a straight 20% across the board (coincidentally, the exact maximum amount they can legally raise costs without a board vote). Yet they cut services significantly. This concerning interaction prompted me to attempt to do some digging to see where our money was going. I asked them to send a budget, which they are legally required to do, and in the 10+ times I followed up over the span of 6 months, they never sent a budget. Where is all our money going??? Hmmm... very suspect. I can give many more examples of how the blunders of this property management company personally cost me time, money, and peace of mind as a property owner, but I'd rather not expand this diatribe further. These few examples should paint the picture sufficiently. We terminated this property management company within 1 year of hiring them and are grateful to be rid of them. STAY AWAY! read more

- Fragile leadership - Vengeful tactics - Poor communication - Liar - Suspected and reported fraud (4 cars and a couple motorbikes for 2 people that never use them?) - "repaving" consisted of a cheap job of painting over the old asphalt to fake a new look. - Main character syndrome (just look at where the cameras are placed. See how well the entirety of the complex is "protected" -- hint: it's not, it's only their place) - If you aren't on their good side, you will know by having your property damaged and character bad-mouthed - Neighbors are horrible people who thrive to be an only singular type of community. To add more detail because the person replying is trying to make this review sound like a mistake. I've added a photo of a "notice" that was "received" by throwing it on the ground near my vehicle. - The location is "Mollison Estates" -- see attached photo for proof including contact name of person discussed here. - The person who keeps responding is trying to discredit my review. So, I ask 1 question, if this person is not associated with your business, then why do they have an email address that uses your business name? Do you just give out email addresses to anyone? Working with Ryan has ranged from a descent experience (at first) to down right frustrating. When I needed direction on an architectural approval, that experience was frustrating and (unnecessarily) lengthy. Who knew that getting dual pane windows approved could be so time consuming and cumbersome. It's too bad some of the simple questions couldn't be resolved in a quick phone call. Even when there was an issue with someone in the complex, same thing... my questions and concerns went ignored. Since 2020 when COVID-19 started, I don't believe the phones have been answered. They simply ALWAYS go to voicemail and I rarely receive a return phone call. At times when I email, I don't get a returned email. It wasn't like that at first. Even at the beginning (2019) when they first started managing our property, when they were having some difficulty properly billing, there was prompt and regular communication. We had to be patient with them providing accurate accounting as they navigated figuring out the old companies books and transitioning as the new management team. Back then, at least emails were promptly returned and the phones were returned. The grounds are finally improving though still need improvement. I hear from many others that HOA's tend not to have customer service as a focus so, sadly, perhaps I shouldn't expect much. It seems like there is a tendency to be self-righteous and respond defensively instead of acknowledging when errors occur and focusing on solutions to work cooperatively toward the same goal, a great community. As working in property management myself, I am unhappy with this company. I don't communicate with HOA Nexus much, but when I do i receive unsatisfactory customer service. I know from a professional standpoint, you should be able to able receive a response to an email within 72 hours; not a week. Also, there have been a couple of times that we receive late notices of major changes around the property with very vague instructions. For example: garage remote re programming with no definitive time line. Moving forward, I hope to see improvement in response time to emails and receiving resident notifications in a timely manner. Run as fast as you can away from Nexus HOA. Rene is so rude and defensive. I have lived in the building now for over 6 years and it continues to go down hill. We had a roof collapse in the rear over the parking area over two weeks ago and they still haven't done anything but put up caution tape. They haven't even cleaned up the debris that fell. We had a leak about a year ago and it took them over 6 months to complete the repair. We have termite damage, rust, mold, and moisture damage. Concrete that is falling apart, molding that is falling off the building, paint that is faded, landscaping with weeds or dirt, exterior lighting around steep steps that is burnt out, and a laundry room that has never been serviced with vent pipes so blocked up they are a fire hazard. I seriously question where the money goes they take, something seem shady. read more

Completely abandoned our residential community, absolutely zero responsiveness to requests, except for fragile emotional chastisement when you inquire on why they do not deliver on anything or communicate at all. In response to this review, the owner may lie and say we never pursued an upgraded package which apparently would have entitled us to a response to emails regarding critical projects that dragged on for months and months. We did, they just didn't bother to respond to those inquiries either. The neglect is starting to take its toll with entryway locks that have been disabled and a lack of basic services like janitorial because even getting a baseline working relationship has been too much of a challenge and distraction. On top of everything, this company tried to charge us renewed fees after we clearly notified them that our ties are severed and we had moved to a different property management company. read more

Frustratingly unresponsive, condescending and dismissive. I'm a new homeowner and working with HOA nexus has been a disappointing nightmare. I don't like writing negative reviews, however I have had a few upsetting interactions with them since I moved into my building back in January, including trying to have a particular issue resolved for months with no success despite my continuous efforts. Even though the property manager offered for me to reach back out to him for updates, my correspondence often goes unanswered or the blame is passed onto someone else with no further outlook on a resolution. I do find it interesting how nearly every negative review has a prompt response with an explanation to the issue at hand, when it seems to me that a personal phone call or email with the same insight could have potentially eliminated the need for a complaint on a public forum in the first place. **update per Ryan's response: I maintain my initial stance that my review could have been avoided if this explanation had been delivered to me by way of a response to my calls or emails rather than on a Yelp review to save face. At the end of the day, from my perspective as a homeowner, I am out $1800 for an expense that was not only deemed as a building related repair, but was also approved back in April with no resolution. Terrible and unimaginable lame HOA. I moved to new rent property 8/3 and I have been begging and asking to get my residential parking permit for a month and half. I cannot park inside because I don't have the two decals and hangtag. I have been parking my car outside of the gate every night and it's very inconvenient and unacceptable. First of an all, it's so hard to communicate with this people and have been ignoring my emails, calls. I've been calling almost every day now and countless same emails over and over. They sent me 'one decal' for the rear window, I parked that night and security left me warning slip saying I cannot park the car inside because I didn't have front hang tag,, How come HOA staff do not know what I needed? so I asked again to HOA for the hangtag .. it's been three weeks they sent me hangtag finally, but they didn't put decal for the front. How come you taking this long time to send me simple three things. It's very simple task. You guys are wasting my time. Why I am the one begging and calling to get this permit. Please think about you will be in my situation. Please care about your customers. That's what customer service is. It has been very frustrating and I never recommend this HOA to anyone. As a small HOA, I would not recommend HOA Nexus. Their online portal has big usability issues. We had issues with the communication and they failed to pay a one of our very few monthly bills. The owner Ryan read our minutes document where we were discussing transitioning to a new provider and sent an email refuting our issues and then cancelling our services with 30 days notice. In my opinion, he seemed to take the criticism personally. I do not feel that he was acting professionally and would not do business with him again. read more

I am very upset with HOA Nexus. I'm having a non-HOA gathering and they took down my signs for unjust reasons. Only 2 out of the 3 buildings. (The board occupied buildings) I stated on the posting that it isn't affiliated with the Association. This company has on numerous occasions tried to keep owners from communicating with other owners. Ryan is the best. He has tried to help a very disjointed small HOA with some very entitled owners who think they control whatever they feel like. Ryan gave our president the best advice when he said let the HOA attorney handle the inter relational issues as those people dont understand the law. Great advice after Ryan tried for two years to clean up the mess created by the last HOA management company. This sham of a company has run our property, property values, and community into the trash. It will take years to recover from the damage they've done. At least two homeowners are currently using attorneys to handle issues with HOA Nexus.  The extremely high employee turnover at HOA Nexus is the first of many red flags you should be aware of. In the nine months they've been managing is we've had four different "community managers". Every time a manager leaves we're told they resigned due to "health problems." If working for you makes employees that sick that should tell you something. I can say the second manager was very nice; however, grossly unqualified for the job. Small simple requests would stump her. The third manager seemed capable, but he was gone from the company in roughly eight weeks, again for "health reasons".  Prior to HOA Nexus managing us our common areas were sanitary and tidy. It took them over six months to get us basic janitorial services, they couldn't manage to hire a JANITOR for over 6 months. This left homeowners and tenants to live in literal filth. At one point a board member suggested we try to get cleaning volunteers from the homeowners that live on site. Can you believe that!!?? Asking homeowners to pick up the slack for a failing management company?   Moving on, let's talk about their 24/7 emergency support, because they will tell you that's something they provide. Only funny thing, when we had an actual flood in our garage last November and tried using the service, we didn't get a response for four days. When questioned about the lack of response the owner of HOA Nexus told us, "if it was that bad of a flood why didn't you call the plumber yourself?"  The management company has to initiate these services as they are the only ones that can pay a vendor on behalf of the association. Do you want to take personal financial responsibility for the bill associated with a massive water leak in your complex? If the answer is "NO" then don't hire HOA Nexus because that's what they want you to do.    Now lets talk about the "portal." The portal where maintenance requests go to die. Ryan, the owner of HOA Nexus will push all homeowners to use the portal for maintenance requests. Requests go into the portal and sit there untouched for about six to eight weeks, once they hit the eight week mark somehow they just get marked as "completed" even though the work hasn't been done. And by "work" I mean the simplest of things, changing light bulbs, replacing water damaged moldy doors in the common area. Honestly, I can't think of a request I put into the portal that was completed, but I can tell you they've all been marked as "completed".  HOA Nexus had been tasked with making critical repairs to an exterior wall of our building, this wall effects 10 units. One day without warning I get phone calls while I'm at work from multiple vendors asking to set up appointments to come take a look. One after another they each called me saying they has received a request via Yelp to come take a look. None of them had been given any information on the issue, nor had they worked with HOA Nexus in the past. These weren't established providers, they were random people who had been given no info on the issues. I spent my own time (at work!) explaining to each vendor the extent of the issues, of course each and everyone said the work was not in scope for that they could provide. YEP you heard that right, HOA Nexus managed to saddle me with the work they should have been doing vetting vendors and explaining the issues.  Given all the employee turnover our property is back to being managed by the owner of HOA Nexus. Over the course of our relationship with HOA Nexus I've watched Ryan flail, rescind, attempt to redact, and just plain lie to get out of responsibility and accountability for the maintenance and well being of our community. He clearly does not care about us as a client, nor has he made any effort to maintain working relationships with any of the homeowners. Myself and the majority of homeowners are counting down the days until we can fire this joke of a company. I really had high hopes for HOA Nexus. The owner, Ryan is very knowledgeable and likable but our account was handled by Alan who is pleasant but seemed very "green." Some of our Special Assessment payments were credited to another HOA. Okay, HOA Nexus had changed over to another banking service at the time, so I figured it's an error that can be corrected easily. The bigger issue was the non-payment of our monthly water bill over several months. Alan never communicated this to us. After we discovered the huge late fee debited from our account, Alan shared that the bills were not paid. I went to the water company to investigate what had happened to result in over several months of unpaid bills. They showed the bills had been sent to HOA Nexus and informed me that we would have had our water shutoff if not for the Covid shutdowns. I don't understand why accounts receivables and accounts payable are not reconciled monthly. This cost us a lot in late fees which HOA Nexus should take responsibility for but no. There's some very positive reviews here, and I am happy for you. Unfortunately, we were not as fortunate. read more

HOA Nexus has been our HOA's Management Service for a few years now. Admittedly, we had a lot of challenges in the past with prior reps but things have changed. You want to be ignored, watch your home become shambles, and your property value diminished then hey hire HOA Nexus. Oh sure you'll get good service in the beginning then they start tacking on "enhancements" to their increased pricing. What's funny ( not),is that your BOD won't be able to explain these enhancements to the "regular" homeowners, yet they agree to them along with the price increase. HOA Nexus will start paying the HOA bills late, incurring late charges and not fessing up until services are about to be shut off, all the while expecting the HOA to foot these late fees. The BOD embarrassed by being taken for a group of chumps, start avoiding the hard questions posed to them, they become exclusive, even snobbish to fellow homeowners. But it doesn't stop there. Work orders mysteriously are filled"completed"but if inspected, haven't been worked on at all (Thanks Shannon). Architectural request or delayed for months on end. Estimates for work to be performed or delayed. Packets for BOD meetings are given to board members at the last minute. Walkthroughs at our complex are not done.Homeowners attending the meetings are snubbed. Managers aren't even interested in our HOA past history of what has been done or what should be done. I'm still waiting for the pool bathroom to be stocked and cleaned (urinals has stale urine in it), iron fence work to be repaired stairs to be replaced poop resecticles to be cleaned (going on 3 months now), expose electrical wiring to be fixed dead plants removed and more. All of these issues have been submitted through work orders all have been stamped completed. Some work orders are 6 months old. But all these issues ignored by HOA Nexus you know the "Management Company". Now I'm quite certain that Ryan will be respond with his" know it all passive, aggressive, pass the buck" jargon. But the facts stand firm. HOA Nexus hasn't lived up to the hype. Work isn't getting done complex looks run down, management is incompetent, and the ONLY buying point for this HOA is its location. read more

HOA Nexus paid multiple bills paid late, meaning we got charged late fees. Ryan told us up front that everything was included in their monthly fee, later that year he told us it was $40 to send a single letter if it wasn't during the once a month mailing. I asked repeatedly for a list of rules on how they do things since we seemed to hit a snag at every turn but he was never able to produce anything. I called the emergency line because the door to the underground garage was stuck closed and people couldn't get out (including for work). Nobody responded for days. We eventually called someone ourselves. When I followed up later by email I was told that it didn't meet the requirements of an emergency. Nobody on the answering service said that when I was on the phone. They just took my message and ignored it. We repeatedly asked them to add new tenants/owners to our call box in front, it took months to finally get people added. Took 6 months to get 3 bids to for a small concrete job. Until then we had a hole in the ground under our mailboxes covered with plywood. They charged me a late fee because they were having trouble with basic math. I explained it several times in person and in email and finally the charge disappeared from my account but there was never any type of follow up to let me know they had finally fixed the issue after several months. They also charge people seemingly random amounts for some late fees and had to go back and fix them later after we questioned them. There's really too much to list but if you are looking for help, this is not the company to go with. They cause more work on the part of the board than they are putting in on then end. read more

We are a small HOA and this company was the perfect fit for us. The owner and his team were very responsive and knowledgeable about all of the ins and outs of helping manage a HOA. We have had problems with HOA companies in the past with bad transparency and communication but HOA Nexus proved that they were good at both. They have an easy to use portal on their website for all owners and a central location for important documents. I was lucky enough to meet Megan when my company owned a few condos in communities that HOA Nexus managed. She was always pleasant, helpful and super responsive. Unfortunately, my company sold off most of their condo rentals, so I don't get to work with her much anymore, but I would highly recommend HOA Nexus as a management company solely based on my past interaction with Megan! read more

Worst property management company ever! The "owner" Ryan will never give you a straight answer! If anything happens at the property good luck contacting anyone! They have a website where your suppose to put in maintenance requests, nobody reads them! There has been a water heater leaking into the garage for two weeks! HOA Nexus just got around to notifying the owner. Usually a competent company would call a plumber have him cap off the water heater and notify the owner. HOA Nexus has just let it damage half of the drywall in the garage!! That money better not come out of our account. Waste of HOA fees, your on your own! read more

15 years of home ownership and this is the absolute best HOA I've ever encountered! Ryan Galasso is the nicest, most patient, hard working man.
