Garlic Parmesan and Buffalo Hot wings
    Todd G.

The best cheat meal I've had in Tally in forever. I've been going to The Hobbit since the 80's, but not so much the last 10 years or so. I was in the neighborhood and absolutely craving wings, so I swung in the Hobbit on Capital Circle SE. It was mid afternoon so the dining room was empty but I was warmly greeted by the bartender in a jiffy. She told me about their specials but I was there for one thing, wings. I ordered ten, 5 buffalo hot and 5 garlic parmesan and fries. My meal came out quickly and hot. The wings were crispy and good size and were better than I remembered. I couldn't stop smiling and got a chuckle from the bartender when she heard me simply grunt in delight as I devoured all the wings. You confirmed my long standing belief that you have the best wings in Tallahassee. It may be another year before I cheat again but I'll be thinking about ya:)

We chose to come to the Hobbit after reading someone else's Yelp review about the fabulous chicken wings. I was in the mood for some really great wings and the Hobbit delivered! I got 15 wings (flats only) with three different flavors. Garnet and gold was my absolute favorite flavor and my better half agreed as he tried all of my wings as well. Garnet and gold is their traditional medium buffalo sauce blended with their Carolina gold (mustard based) and it was perfection!! Second flavor was the medium buffalo sauce and it was pretty good! Third flavor was the garlic parmesan, which we both didn't like at all. It was too buttery and made the wings soggy. Now with that being said, the other wings were cooked to perfection! They also make their own blue cheese dressing for dipping and it is amazing! He got the smash burger and thought it was excellent and well balanced with home style pickles. It was a double and was so juicy! I'm not a burger lover but it was good and the curly fries were great! Seasoned to perfection and dipping the in the blue cheese in the key! When you pull up to the Hobbit it looks very underwhelming. It's located in an old shopping center and looks kind of like a dive. Don't let that dissuade you from going as it is a typical sports bar with your Sunday football vibe. I didn't see one table that wasn't eating wings and on Sundays their wings are .99 each so it was packed! Overall I would recommend the Hobbit if you are looking for a sports bar and a casual laid back atmosphere. We will be back for sure and will try new flavors next time!

Always enjoy stopping in here for a quick drink or full dinner. My favorite being the Froto burger and tater tots. The service is always great. The bartenders are just as great. Good people, good times and good food!

Absolutely delicious wings. The garnet and gold sauce is my go-to. It of course doubles as dip for my fries! Gotta get fries... Also, their blue cheese is insane. The service is pretty standard. Love the unique Lord of the Rings theme. Very cool.

I was looking for wings and football in Tallahassee on a Thursday night. I found it at the Hobbit. When I walked in to the Hobbit, I loved the decor of what a sports bar should look like. There was a lot of room and there were plenty of TVs and decorations. And what was even better, I walked in and discovered the Thursday night wing special for 89 cents. There were several wing flavors to try. Usually I look for a BBQ flavor, then flavors I cannot get anywhere else. After some help from the waitress, I decided on Garnet and Gold, Fiesta Ranch, and Spicy Caribbean. First of all, the Garnet and Gold was the best out of the three sauces, which is sad to say because of the Florida State inspiration behind it. Roll Tide! The Garnet and Gold was the Carolina Mustard BBQ sauce mixed with the mild or medium buffalo sauce. The Fiesta Ranch was the next best as it had a Ranch seasoning to it with a medium buffalo sauce. The Spicy Caribbean was the worst. I have been to other places and it was similar to a Honey-Garlic but these sauce was very weak and not flavorful. My buddy that was with me said we had to get the cheese curds. Hands down...these were the best cheese curds I've ever had. They were easy to chew and had some kind of special seasoning to them. The sauce that came with it too added to the deliciousness of these cheese curds. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! I would love to come back to the Hobbit to explore more of the flavors for wings.

I just landed in Tallahassee and was craving wings. We order 15 wings, dry lemon pepper and garlic parm mix with the curly fries. Strike one: while waiting for the food, one of the workers was hacking their lungs out over the soda machine and continued working without hesitation! Strike two: Get home and went straight for the fries, which tasted like the frozen kind. Strike three: the wings had absolutely NO flavor, with a "hint" of the requested sauces. I'm still craving wings!

Lemon pepper wings, Hot Wings, and Tater Tots

I tried Hobbit for the first time in a while and I came away with a good impression. I used to eat here all the time when I was in college but I just stopped going one day. I used to rotate between this location and the location on Pensacola. On this occasion I had the wings and I had tater tots with them. I order 10 wings, 5 of them were hot and 5 of them were lemon pepper. I really wanted the onion rings but I didn't want to wait so I settled for the tater tots. I ordered curbside pickup and as I checked in, I got a Yelp coupon so that was really cool. I'm glad they were open on New Years Day.

They run a promotion where if you sit at the bar, your meal is half-off. Unfortunately, we were 4 people with a 9-month-old so bar seating was not in the cards for us. We walked up to counter and placed our order. 3 burgers, a chicken sandwich, two small bowls of fries and two small side salads. After tip, it was $96. I've had less expensive sit-down dinners with top-notch service for that price. Our food was brought out to us not too long after we ordered. I will say the food was good. I ordered a double cheeseburger. It was comically large and nearly impossible to eat. The patties were thick and the beef was fresh and savory. I did the build-your-own. Mine had pickles, lettuce, tomato and cheese. The fries were ok. We got the parmesan truffle fries. They had the slight earthy taste of truffle and dusted with parmesan. The side salads were good. The kale was fresh and crunchy, it had a light vinaigrette on it that didn't weigh down the salad and complimented the bits of tomato and carrot. In the end, we enjoyed the meal but couldn't get past the price tag. If there is a next time, we will pop our 9-month-old in her car seat at the bar to get this food at a reasonable price.

The restaurant was spotless, and the staff at the front counter were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. I also loved the patriotic atmosphere. The American flags and the seals representing all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces were a great touch and made the place feel unique. I ordered the double cheeseburger with pickles, grilled onions, ketchup, and mustard. I skipped the lettuce and tomato because of the recent Cyclosporiasis outbreak, which was just a personal preference. I also got an order of fries and their diet cola. Everything came out hot, just the way I like it. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The fries, with their light breading, were crispy and just as impressive. While the meal was a little on the pricey side, the quality of the food made it worth every penny. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be coming back. How can you tell if you are going to have a bad experience at a restaurant in the South?…read more There will be some signs I will share with you based on my recent visit to Big Randy's. Sign #1: Sweet tea brought to you is from a soda fountain and not fresh-brewed. Making fresh-brewed sweet tea does not cost much. The waitress admitted it to me. I cannot tell you how many times I have had an awful sweet tea from the tab and the the rest of the experience has gone downhill more times than stabilizing the sail. Sign #2: Buying ranch to go with your wings instead of at least being given an obligatory one. Wait...it gets worse...paying for a pre-packaged Ken's Ranch...not Ranch made in-house. Sign #3: BBQ sauce on your wings is Sweet Baby Ray's bought from the grocery store. That is what my wife received and I probably had Sweet Baby Ray's Gold on my overcooked wings. Sign #4: I haven't met many French fries I wouldn't eat but Big Randy's tested me. I couldn't eat them. They were like McDonald's fries except way too salty. My wife's fries had no salt. The only saving grace from a 1-star is at least they made my wings extra wet like I asked and the service was fine. That's how you earn a 2-star. Note: the fried pickles had more of a corn nugget batter and the floor was also very sticky.
