Stores great except for the long register lanes they should hire more help for the holidays

Love love love this store! They have everything you will ever need for any of your crafting projects. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Cute stuff, which can be expensive unless they have their 50% off sale. However, I was overcharged yesterday. I got one of those 32 ounce oils for the oil lamps. They dont have the prices on all of their products so at the cash register, I asked the cashier to check the price for me. I thought she would simply scan it or punch in the item code. It took her and her coworker a long time to figure out the price and look it up on their website. The cashier wasn't sure if they were part of the 50% off sale too, so she asked her coworker if they were 50% off. Then she assumed they weren't on sale, like she was happy to charge me full price. How can you NOT be aware of the current sales in your store? You'd think they'd be trained and taught about the weekly sales. Well it turns out that she proceeded to charge me full price. I went to their website later in the day to buy more lamps because they ran out of it at the store, then I found out the the oils WERE supposed to be 50% off. And like the other Yelp customers say, the cashier clerks manually put in the prices. So if the had a friend shop there, they could basically punch in any price they wanted. Or they could be discriminatory if they felt like it. The store seriously needs to invest in a price scanning system to have correct bookkeeping and to eliminate discrimination. I'd rather buy online because machines won't care how you look or how you dress. Everyone pays the same price on a website. Anyway, I don't think the girl liked me. She acted like she owned the place. First of all, she didn't greet me. I put my basket on the table because there was no conveyor belt and it was a small area, but princess cashier told me to take the items out of the basket and place them on the table. After I did that, I put the basket back on the floor, but then she told me to give the basket to her. Well, if she just took out the items out the basket one by one in the first place, she would have the basket there to put away on her side of the counter. Im an analyst by profession, and right off the bat I could see the lack of efficiency in the transactions. It was partially my own fault for having my own prejudices and thinking that since she was a young Asian person, I thought she would be nice, fair, and know how much things cost. WRONG! That dumbash cheated me out of $5! Next time, people should shop online so you dont have to deal with inept, rude, and shady cashiers. Just get rid of those people so they realize that they are replaceable, they have no valuable skill, and thus they need to be humble and treat people fairly and kindly. read more

Hobby Lobby - Art Supplies Near Me - Hawthorne, California

I shop here weekly for my kids arts supplies. Purchased a damaged item. I've also never exchanged or retuned anything there. The manager Ish (yes that's the name in his badge) was so rude. He proceeded to scold me for the exchange in front of everyone??? It was $10?? My purchase was $80 and thats including the $10 exchange towards my purchase. Sad because Michaels is across the street. As a manager I expect more. The cashiers are always nice and friendly maybe he needs training from his staff and or shouldn't be a manager is he hates his job. read more

Came here for some fabric (first time in a hobby lobby). The fabric lady was nice and helpful and I had some fabric in hand and went to the cash registers to complete my purchase. The cashier would not allow me to purchase the fabric unless I put a mask on, I have a medical exemption. I had to leave without being able to purchase the fabric.... read more

Bought 2 cans of spray paint, 1 can didn't work came back to return it and manager refused to exchange it because it was used. But I wouldn't come back to exchange it if it wasn't faulty. End of story they sold me an item that didn't work and refused to exchange it. So when you buy something buy it as final sell because they will not replace faulty items. read more

Love the store but the employees are rancid. If they hate working with people they should work elsewhere. So many people in need of jobs and they hire the worse. The manager was just as useless as the employees. When I complained about a cashier and her attitude she loudly said "who, her" and pointed. Seriously , totally unprofessional read more

I agree with some of the comments on here, i want to love the place because they have so much to look at and good prices but the front end and the flinstone system is slowing everything down. I went into the store for a price adjustment due to an error that the store made. The cashier tried helping but needed a manager to override the return. I had bought a sugar container that they over charged me by $10. I took a picture showing it was on my counter with a receipt. The manager (Gus) I believe said I had to bring the container. He was COMPLETELY RUDE and a JERK. I called corporate and they told me he should have adjusted it since it was an error of the store. I love Hobby Lobby however, I feel like they need to take care of their inventory better. Always make sure you check your item before buying it. Especially if it's a frame or anything that isn't fixable. Because keep in mind that they do put items on the floor that either have scratches or have some type of stain on them. I don't think anybody wants spend their money on an item that has any type of damage to it. Thankfully, one of their managers (Jessica) was kind enough to help me out and suggested that she can order one and it can be mailed out to the store. I was so happy to hear that because the frame is WHITE and the stain on it was very noticeable. Finally found the model glue and paints that I've been searching for! It was a bit of a drive for me, but after trying 4 other "craft type" stores, it would have been less miles just to come here first. (Hind site) Big selection of model cars, planes, trucks, and the GLUES and PAINTS for them. Paints were sold in sets of commonly used colors or separately. read more

I was at Hobby Lobby and after navigating all the closed sections, finally made it to checkout and got in ln line. As I got up to register the cashier put up closed sign and said she was closed. I switched lanes at which point service manager pulled person in front of me into same lane I was just away from. She had been standing there the entire time. This is a great store. I love the scrapbook supplies I get there especially as some of the paper is made in the USA. The 4 for a $1.00 paper has been very handy as well as the Paper Studio brand on sale that I often purchase. In addition, I stock up on the Totally Tiffany supplies you sell and wish you sold more variety of this brand. The bathrooms are very clean. Oh and the staff is very helpful and nice. First of all I have to say that this is my happy place. I come here and it makes my day better every time. I can spend hours here. On my most recent visit I needed a frame for a landscape portrait and I ran into Michael in the the frame dept. He was so helpful and put together a custom frame that made the picture pop. Ugh. Where are all the sales help??! Waited 10 mins, 2x of constant bell dinging, 3 intercom store pages before someone showed up to help cut fabric. All salespeople were up at the front of the store; some just chatting. Finally got to the register, only to line up behind an older couple trying to get the price tag off some furniture so they could finish their transaction. Once I did get to the cashier, she didn't have enough change for me. When I offered to give exact change, she said she couldn't take it once the register was open. And that doggone, store music wanted to make me pull my hair out! I felt like I was in some weird time warp! Everything seemed to move so slowly(imagine that scene with the sloths at the dmv in zootopia).I seriously thought I was shopping at a stand-alone store set the middle of the boonies. I like all the selection and it's nice having a store that sells an organized fabric selection close by! Their knob aisle is impressive and I feel I can spend quite a long time browsing the store. Sometime the lines don't move very fast to check out, but other than that it's an amazing store. read more

On Saturday November 16, I purchased 3 stickers that were $3.99 each and 1 that was $2.99. They were advertised as 40% off. When I paid I didn't realize they charged me full price until I got home. I saved my receipt and went back today, 4 days later. I went back with the $2.99 item and 1 of the $3.99. The cashier asked her manager if I can get the difference back and she said only for the items I physically took back to the store. I emphasize that the receipt states 3 of the $3.99 and still they did not budge. I reminded them it was not my mistake and they should stand by what they advertised. They have a great selection of items but their checkout system is ridiculous. read more

Most of the staff wasn't wearing their mask right. Almost every single employee had their mask below their nose. They weren't enforcing to wear a mask properly to their employees or the customers. I felt so uncomfortable. read more

I came to this store because Michaels was closed. I was looking for certain stuff plus whatever I find cute or that I might need in the future. Time passed really quick and I didn't even notice it was 2 minutes passed 8. An employee working at the fabric area rudely told me to leave the stuff because they were closed already. I don't mind having to leave because it was closed but there are ways to say things and not sound rude, now that tone of voice and the words chosen for her was what got me mad. I went to the front and I was walking back at the back to find the end of the line to check out and another employee was coming towards the front and she rudely literally said go back to the front it's closed already and moved her hands as if I was an animal to make me go to the front, when I was looking for the end of the line.. bottom line I'm not going back there! read more

So happy to finally have a hobby Lobby here in the south bay. Everything I need is easy to find. Staff is nice and friendly.

I visit hobby lobby out in Lakewood and Huntington Beach frequently before the store in Hawthorne was built. Great customer service never really waited in line always received help in the isles. Well Hawthorne is awful rude people work there, can never find anybody to help. Very long lines, one or two cashiers helping dozen's of people it's ridiculous. Today I went in the store to go shopping and the frame I wanted was very high up. I asked the head cashier that was upfront really doing nothing but standing around, to please page someone to help me. I actually stood there for a good 5 to 10 minutes waiting for somebody to help me until I saw a tall customer and asked him to please reach up and hand me a frame. For me to have to ask a customer to help me was ridiculous. The lines were so long during my shopping experience no joking at least 15 to 20 people were up there waiting to be helped and the people upfront or waiting and waiting head cashers paging for help no one coming up there and she didn't even bother getting on the register. I left my shopping cart in the aisle and walked out. I did speak to the manager there on my mobile phone before I left. I guess him and another manager we're just in the back doing nothing while they're paging for help up front letting all these customers stand around. I did call their corporate headquarters and advise them what was going on and that they need to fix it because this is a new location and you're going to lose customers. If it was possible id give negative 5 stars the customer service is horrible. The cashier was racist. Caucasion lady asked myself who looks asian(half asian and half caucasion) and a Hispanic lady to switch lines as all cashiers were pulling from one line. Great got it. But as soon as we go to the other line this woman promptly has 2 caucasion customers walk up and get in line she says nothing and proceeds to check them out. I said something about why she asked me and the other lady to move but not the other customers and she had nothing to say for herself. Then proceeds to check out another customer who just happened to be caucasion while all the other customers who have been waiting for longer are made to stay in the other line. And yep you guessed it. We all were not full caucasion. So in short save yourself the hassle of dealing with shitty racist people and go to any other store. This behavior is not acceptable on any lenth. And all management had to say was sorry. So basically this company feels like its ok to keep shitty people up front dealing with their customers read more

Every time I've come to this location (which is several times in the last few weeks), I've never seen more than 2-3 of their 8 available registers open, despite long and slow lines. I've seen a person open a 3rd register only to help 1 customer, then close down or in one case, turn me away after I'd been standing in line. I counted 4 other employees near the registers, who knows what they were doing. One checker asked for the "next customer," then accepted the last person in line, not those who had been waiting. The next customer is the person waiting NEXT in line, not the person who just got in line. At this rate, I'm tempted to drive from the South Bay to Huntington Beach to receive some actual customer service. This location has been open for a few months now, you'd think they'd have it figured out. read more

I have been to the Burbank Hobby Lobby and fell in love with it. I was so exited that they were opening on near my home in Hawthorne. Did not go to the Grand Opening because I wanted to wait to enjoy without all the people. Very disappointing. Many lights were out and aisle were dark. People were not friendly at all. Went to buy a frame at HL. On one of the end caps there were a bunch of photo frames and a sign "50% off frames". I assumed since the sign was there, those frames were 50% off. Nope. The fine print stated photo frames were excluded. Also wanted to buy a fake plant. Again sign was posted "50% off plants". Fine print stated "floral" plants not included. All the plants displayed near the sign were "floral". Signs were totally misleading. read more

Wow the manager at this location at 11:30am on 2/12/20 is absolutely horrible and rude! Such lack of customer service!! I have an online business and purchase supplies from Hobby Lobby on a weekly basis in bulk. I purchase glitter felt squares and for the last 6 months I purchase them when they have the 50% promotion. For OVER HALF A YEAR these felt squares are considered FELT. Today, (despite them having a giant sign right above these felt squares) she says these are never on sale and are not considered felt squares. ABSOLUTE LIE. Let me start out IMPRESSIVE!! I am in the LA area alot when I see a Hobby Lobby I go! This has been the best by far. I want to say a special awesome shout out to "Elias" (I think that's how it's pronounced). I asked another sales rep for a item he sent me to clearance. I saw Elias pass by and asked for assistant again. He lead me straight to what I want. On the way another customer saw him and the greeting "KTM" (known to me) awesome. His professionalism, demeanor, customer service & attention to detail impressive!!! I WIIL BE BACK!! Also, a specific shout out to the young lady at the register.
