Lakeshore has been my go to store for supplies. I usually buy posters, wall accents, construction paper, scissors, stickers, glue, and everything else I need. I have been a couple times in the last few years and find everything I need at reasonable prices. Unsure when they started their Lakeshore Bucks but it came in handy on my last few recent trips. I am an elementary school teacher so I go to Lakeshore often. The two locations I frequent are in Carson and Fountain Valley. They always have what I need for the classroom at an affordable price. If you sign up for their text notifications, you will receive discounts on your purchases. I think Lakeshore is geared more to the K-5 students. If you are K-5 teacher, you find a lot of cool and innovative things in the Lakeshore Store. My favorite thing in this store is the laminating machine. I've been to this location a few times now and each time I've had a great experience. Firstly, once you input the address in your navigation system, it's a breeze to find. If you try and wing it, good luck. Secondly, the prices at the Lakeshore Learning Store are very reasonable, if not great. Be careful because they have excellent learning toys for all ages, your cart will fill up quickly and the next thing you know, you're spending big bucks. Thirdly, the staff are very helpful and can help you fill up that cart lol. They are friendly and more than happy to tell you about the saving coupons you qualify for lol. As a former teacher I used to order supplies from Lakeshore. But I never had the store experience. Most of what I ordered in the past was based on recommendations from other teachers and items that I had borrowed. You will find that many items are on the pricey side, however, some are good deals. I love coming to this lake shore! I'd avoid coming on the weekend cause it can be a bit crowded but other than that no problems! I come here for everything! All the staff are so helpful and kind. I come here to laminate and it's 69cents 'per linear foot' if your a member and $1 if your not. This store has outlet and the regular store. It's worth the trip. The selection of merchandise is larger than most if not all of the other Lakeshore Stores. The outlet has good deals on furniture and rugs as well as other teaching materials. Be sure to throughly inspect what you buy at the outlet since the prices are often lower due to dents, scratches, or missing parts. Staff is super helpful. read more

It was actually my first time here or at any Lakeshore Learning Store; I've heard of it from my fellow teachers but never had a chance to visit. I was finally able to give it a visit during my MLK, Jr. weekend and my gosh, who knew it was so big! The main reason I came was to purchase some privacy boards for my students to prevent cheating on assessments. I've been using these flimsy manila file folders this whole time while making them arrange their seats all facing forward (their seats are usually facing each other for group work). When I saw my partner teacher using these amazing privacy boards, she told me she got them from Lakeshore. Hence, my adventure begins. I purchase a pack of privacy boards for around $33 dollars (there was a different price on the box, so I'm not sure if it was a discount for being a member -- which I signed up right then and there -- or because it is a discount store in general). I ordered an activity table and 8 chairs online. I ordered the chairs by size according to their chart. They were way too small for my daycare kids. I returned the chairs on June 5 and they were received on June 9th. I have yet to get a refund to order more chairs!! I talked to a customer service rep that assured me that she put in a request for an expedited refund early July. Still nothing. I'm not sure I would order from Lakeshore again unless I was sure it was the right thing! Also, it seems their 'Points' don't apply to bigger ticket items! Why not? read more

They have a lot of stuff for teachers and parents for their class or kids. Was looking for some math practice games and found them. That being said, I didn't appreciate being followed around the store as though my family and I were going to steal. After picking up a few things we needed, we went to the back to the clearance section. As we looked, several employees walked around to where we were always looking. Just randomly came around when before only like one worker was there. Looking at chairs? A worker hanging out right in that section. Walking in aisle, another pushing a cart with stuff very slowly next to us. I went to look at some calendar numbers. They were low on the pegs so I crouched down to look at them. And who's there? An employee who just happened to be "tying his shoe" exactly the amount of time I was crouched down looking at the calendar numbers. I stood up after finding some, and would you believe he also finished with his shoe. I walked toward his direction and he just stood there, I don't know, to block me? The ONLY reason we didn't leave all the stuff we were going to buy and walked out is because we drove a bit to get here and we needed the items for our child and me for work. Is it common to treat customers as thieves? The REAL stealing is taking place with those prices. read more

We rarely get out during this pandemic, but decided to go to Lakeshore to get some educational activities and supplies last week. There is plenty of parking and they have wipes to wipe down your cart as soon as you walk into the store. So maybe you should run in and get the wipe before you grab the shopping cart outside? Inside everything is organized. All the staff members are wearing masks and are polite. There is hand sanitizer near the clean restrooms. I had fun shopping here with my 5 year old. I am a parent, not a teacher, so I really did not have specific items to buy in mind. But I did find supplies that I think we needed and educational "toys" for my young children. I read about this location of Lakeshore and couldn't wait to check it out. The wife and I buy all of our kids' distance learning and art supplies as well as everyday toys from Lakeshore. Everything they sell is high quality and sturdy unlike the toys at other stores that fall apart after one use. Today we got some puzzles, color and shape sorting toys, art supplies, and books. This place has everything that I need. I recently took my soon to look for a world map poster and sight words and I was amazed at how many different learning games, books, toys, etc. were available. The staff was very helpful especially "Yaya" (I hope I'm getting her name right) but she went above and beyond to make sure I found what I needed. Needless to say I will be shopping here again. Lakeshore is a one stop shop for all your teaching/learning needs. It's a huge outlet that is well organized and staffed for easy shopping. They have something for everybody and at different price points. Also, they have a showroom that is heavily discounted and you can also sign up for weekly deals. I would caution new teachers to spend wisely as things jump of the shelves and into your basket! Parents, you can bring your kids here for arts and crafts on the weekend just just with the store about more details. Lakeshore is where its at! read more

Love all Lakeshore Stores! This one I really prefer in particular mainly because they have an area where there's plenty of selection of discounted items and deals as well. This location is bigger because it's a warehouse store, bigger and roomy than the Sepulveda one by LA. These past few months that I've been going in and out of this place, I was able to find little bitty treasures in their discounted area. Like for example if some of you are familiar with the "Nuts about Counting" (the one using bolts), in the regular section it's worth $29.99. But if you go to their discounted area and you don't mind buying a damaged box that actually doesn't really look like it's "totally" damaged but more of just dented, then it was worth $17 only! One amazing buy a found as well just like a week ago was a very old looking box and it was all dented and everything but it was the solar system, foam planets with a wooden puzzle. Regular was 49.99 but on the box it was now $12! Please see all pictures below. The boxes, whether they're dented or torn and what not, I don't really care much of its looks but what's more important for me is the quality of the product, what's more on the inside and that it stays in the same shape and use as those that's being displayed in their regular section/aisle. That's what I call my little treasures.=) Aside from that, membership is free and they email you coupons plus they give away promo codes by subscribing to receive text msg alerts. They offer 20-50% discounts in those text msgs. And one thing I also do all the time, is to wait for an item or product to go on SALE! They always display those products at their entrance just as you open the door on your way in or they also email you about it.=) One thing my kids and I love is that every Sat and Sun from 11am-2pm, they offer free crafting to kids with different themes each week! The Nordstrom's of teacher supplies. A former colleague accurately described the Lakeshore chain. She was referring to the prices (not to the level of the staff's knowledge of product). You had to pay a pretty big chunk of your $28K to get the latest and greatest manipulatives, games, flannet boards, etc. After walking into the main Carson store, we discovered the OUTLET. This was the place where all "seconds" go. Anything with a torn cover, overstock or anything which deemed the product unsellable in the regular store found its way here. Prices are marked anywhere between 25 to 50 percent off list. During the sales, markdowns are even crazier - up to 75%. I added nearly 20 titles to my classroom library during the summer sale. My advice for bagains - skip the store except during the late summer sale. Head over to the outlet anytime of the year. read more
