After my find at Northgate of a xB, we decided to get paint for a redo. Pretty impressed with how huge this location was...Angel (on the the employees on the floor) was one of the few actually working. The other two in the back (guy and girl) were too busy 'ing about their plans after the store locked up. The girl was so eagered to quit that she kept announcing the countdown over the PA system basically trying to tell everyone get out ASAP!!! After waiting 10 mins for the case to be unlocked to grab my paint...I found Angel and he took care of it without any attitude (unlike that girl who never came back with the keys for the case). I can see why this store has a medicre rating. The staff has an appalling approach with customers. (The exception was the African American male cashier, he was so polite). I'm generally excited to support Christian-based businesses because they are so polite and friendly. I don't know what customer service training this team in Santa Ana has received, but it is as un-Christian as it gets. They cannot muster a smile and it's very important to them to argue with their customers and put them in their place. I DON'T believe that the customer is "always right", and apparently the staff here not only shares my sentiment, they seem to insist on it -- and will let you know in subtle ways they don't care about your business and are doing you a favor to let you shop here. I was very disappointed yesterday, I went in there in a hurry to buy a black shirt and the line was very long, they finally decided to open the 2nd cashier and the guy called the person in front of me to go over, I followed them (figure if the cashier is open I can get out of here quick instead of waiting on this line where the person in the very front had a ton of items to pay). The cashier at that register promptly (and loudly) announced I couldn't go there, I had to stay in her lane...mmmmm, last I remember if you are at a regular store and more than one register is open you can go to that whatever register you choose. It's a clean store and the cashiers are very friendly as far as I've seen. I love this store because there's so many items to choose from and 40% off coupon is a big plus! I love the main brain yarn (I love this yarn brand) it's so soft and easy to work with, I dabble into so many hobbies the whole store is just a temptation but I've learn to restrain myself. The bathrooms are also roomy unlike a lot of cramped ones I've seen in some other craft stores. They also have wheelchairs if someone in your group or your self have trouble walking, the seats are very roomy though I've been told it's like sitting in a high chair but honestly if you can stick your purse safely next to you, that's way better to me! read more

The attitude at this location is stank. The store is much smaller than the one on Edinger so they do not have the selection as that one does. The cashier had the worst attitude though so with just that reason alone, I'll never visit this location and I've already told a handful of people not to as well. This place is gonna drain my wallet! The location used to be a cool hardware store I would frequent so I was quite pleased to see a new business in its place, the hobby lobby. The goods are mostly home goods, lots are antique and vintage inspired items. There are craft supplies , garden decor, as well I spotted fabrics and fake floral pieces. Prices are reasonable and they have really good promotions periodically. It's worth checking out as there seems to be something for everyone at this gem of a store. This review is for the Hobby Lobby in Tustin, California, USA. This is the second Hobby Lobby I have visited (Westminster location being the first one), and it is a new location, so this two factors come in play of this review, which will/could change in future visits. For those unfamiliar with these places, Hobby Lobby is the result of a Michael's and a Kitsch store having a baby, a giant mutant baby that takes over humongous, warehouses size former businesses (Westminster used to be a Ralphs, this one an OSH). They offer everything craft related like Michael or Joann's (X4), plus a plethora ("uh, uh, you said 'plethora'") of hipster/religious/testosterone fueled/silly/odd... stuff. Not my cuppa tea, but this is a review site, so... Located on 17th and Tustin, it can be reached via the 5, 22 and 55 Freeways. Plenty of parking on an area surrounded by eateries,... and that's about the good part of it. As compared with the Westminster location, this location is presently not cutting it. As with the first Hobby Lobby, we visited the location for some supplies and to show some friends the sheer size of one of these stores. It ended up in a game of "the bloody heck is this doing in this aisle?" (The Hulk vs the Blessed Virgin Mary was the winner) and "find any fracking thing we need" (we didn't). The explanation from what it seemed to be management was that they "recently opened up". Uh, no dice, I been to several openings, this was just plain FUBAR. Oh, and thanks for sending a "Come Visit Us!" pamphlet on late Saturday, and finding out that they are closed on Sundays (Check Wikipedia. It seems to be a Hobby Lobby thing). * The Good: Plenty of parking space. A Shabu Shabu Bar, Carl's Jr, Farmer Boys, Rubio's, Which Wich, Ami Sushi, Benjie's Deli, D.K. This store has a great selection of items and a fair return policy. The store is huge. I wish there was an app so we could figure out which item is in which aisle. First time at this location and wow the bad reviews seem to add up. As soon as I entered the store, I was greeted by Israel, and after letting him know I was here for a return he continued with a sigh. I explained to him I needed to return a couple pieces of fabric. He instructed me to go over to the fabric department where I asked a lady for assistance. After measuring the fabric she said it both pieces were off by 1-2 inches. As I explained to her they were purchased at the Jamboree store and they lady there cut them. She then instructed me to drive there and exchange my fabric at that store in order to get a full refund. I explained to her it wasn't convenient for me to drive to a different store and when I was already there. I then told her I would rather pay the difference than drive to a different store. She walked me back to Israel and she explained to him (in Spanish) what she told me. Israel then helped me again and said that indeed if I needed a full refund I would have to drive to Jamboree. Being frustrated at this point I told Israel that it's not about $2 is about the bigger picture. Why would I take the hit when I didn't do anything but return fabric I didn't use. I asked to speak to a manager and Israel called over a man that didn't acknowledge me just instructed Israel to process the full refund. What a lack of customer service for $2 dollars. Won't be back to this location. I don't understand why some employees act like they own the store rather than processing a simple return. Way to go team! read more

I'm not an artistic, creative or crafty person but I needed some things for my wedding so I decided to check this place out. Honestly, I have never heard of Hobby Lobby until today. I thought the only arts and crafts stores that existed were Michael's and Jo-Ann. This place is HUGE. It literally is the mecca for all those Pinterest and DIY lovers. I think I wasted a good hour in the home decor section and another hour in the scrapbook section. I'm not sure if they offer many sales but I came at a great time because everything I needed--particularly in the scrapbook department--was 50% off! I even found the same treasure chest that I bought from Etsy here and it was half the price! Albeit, the one I bought at Etsy was customized and fully decorated. I'm not used to buying home decor at the same place I buy my yarn and other assorted arts and crafts supplies. That fact about Hobby Lobby is still weird to me, so my review just focuses on the arts and crafts supplies I shop for. I am upcycling 3 old Ikea CD racks and needed some black and white graphics for the back. I thought maybe cardstock or scrapbooking paper might work, but I instead found some wrapping paper that would do the job. By the way, scrapbooking supplies are in the far back of the store on the right. My second obsession is crochet so I'm always looking for good sales on yarn. It seems like most of the brands of yarn they carry are off brands and appear to be smaller skeins than average. That's disappointing because then you are forced to buy more to complete whatever you're working on. Yarn, of all things, is at the front of the store in the left corner. read more

The best thing to happen to this shopping center! When I first walked in I was on brain overload from all the cute home decor and the great little furniture pieces. There was so much too look at! I can't put in words what shopping Hobby Lobby is like, you must go experience it yourself if you haven't been there yet. It's so much fun. Where do I start? I wish shopping with my baby, who is a year old. We have a shopping cart cover that has a bag in the front and one in back. Beads and other small items fall from shopping carts that's a no brainer. So to keep my daughter from putting them in her mouth I put them in the front and rear bag in the car seat cover. Well, as a babies sometimes do, she pooped. We had to leave. The manager comes up to me and asks me what I was doing. I told her I was putting everything back and was leaving. She demanded that I start handing her what I had in the cart. I felt a weird vibe earlier from her when she asked me ingeniously if I needed any "help" ( she, and a few other employees that had been circling around me like vultures for the hour and some change that I was spending in there as a customer) after the manager stops me while I'm putting items back she then full on accuses me of trying to steal from them, even though I was no where near the exit. Just because I had put all the items out of my baby's reach in the zipper pouches of the seat cover. She humiliated me in front of the staff, and told me it's a shame that I was using my baby like that. Then, she told me to go shop at Michaels. You bet your ass I called corporate. read more

In February of this year, my truck while parked in the lot near LA Fitness was rear-ended by a semi-tractor trailer under the employment of Hobby Lobby. The manager at the SA / Tustin store denied this even after 2 witness validated the incident. I am clearly faultless. Numerous contacts with HB management were unsuccessful! They have 100 percent refused to admit to any wrongdoing and will not pay for ANY REPAIRS to my vehicle. REALLY !!!! A legal action is underway for damages. Marcey in Frames part of the store is FABULOUS!!! Came in on Wednesday to get a art piece framed and as I was making my selection she gave her expert opinion and helped me out sooo much. You can tell she has done this before and not to mention has great taste. She went above and beyond to help me find the perfect backing and frame. She told me the piece would be done the next day. I came back the next day after work and my art had not been framed yet by the earlier shift. She was there again and was working diligently on it so that I can head home. The most awful expiernce I've ever encountered. My fiance and I are avid shoppers and usually spend tons of money buying supplies because we are artist. Never have had a problem, but this store was different. The employees started following us down every aisle and as we started walking towards the cashier, we were stopped and were told that we needed to either pay for our items or leave. The worst retail store experience in a very long time. Returned a small furniture piece, $79.00 -tags on with receipt, purchased two days ago. Their computer system is so old - the store does not use a SKU for any items. All items are a general code - with NO WAY TO VERIFY BY A SKU Cashier made a mistake when I purchased and charged me $9.00 more than attached tag - store manager, name is Dani - is a complete and total bitch. Made me wait over 30 minutes while someone in the store called the Laguna Niguel store (where I purchased), To run through security video from date and time on my receipt to verify I purchased the piece. All this for $9.00? Yes $9.00. And, $9.00 was in their favor. When all was confirmed and refund made, I stated this is a shitty way to conduct business and this process is a fucking shit show Dani then informed me there is "No cursing allowed in store" - I left the store...and she followed me to my car, telling me "No Cursing is allowed" - "you can not return if you curse" Will NEVER step foot inside a Hobby Lobby again! Worst service ever. I have been to this store many times and will NEVER go back. There were over 30 people in line, and only two people at the registers. One of the registers had a lady that had over 100 items. The other one had four people helping her and then left when she was looking for a price. All the customers complained that they needed to open another check out and nobody did a damn thing.
