A few parking spots out front with a 2 hour limit. This establishment uses miracle whip but it wasn't a problem to remove. Why three stars? No one in the kitchen used gloves. Needed an Italian sandwich and Yelp suggested that I stop here. I passed the place a couple times because it's located on a busy street and once the gps tells you that you have arrived, you have already passed it. There is also only street parking, so I had to turn around anyway in order to park. I grabbed my sandwich, chips, and a drink. The sandwich was good, especially the seasoning blend they add. It had a nice spice to it. The only thing that made me not love it was the hard bread. Like hard enough to where it crumbled when I bite into it. A friend was downtown on some business. She was dropped off by a family member but would have to take a bus home. She called and said, "Can I bribe you with a sandwich we can split, if you give me a ride home? I am in the downtown area!" and she lives southeast. I'd have taken her home, anyway. We ate at her house. I am from New Jersey. I have been to New York City numerous times and lived 5 years in Philadelphia. They know Jewish Delis well. Delicatessens. My friend bought a Reuben and it was piled a few inches higher than a normal sandwich would be (not as stacked, but like a famous NYC deli). Plenty for 2 to share. And It was delicious. Fantastic! I asked, "this is OKC?" Yes! My friend said it's a little expensive but worth it. She told me $10. Are you kidding me? That's a famous line in New Jersey. $10 for that sandwich is a steal. I've just returned from a week in Italy (Verona, Florence, Pisa, Turin) and here I am seeking an Italian sub. What's wrong with me? On the way to the airport, Hobby's met my search criteria - "open now" and "$" - and I lucked out with finding a spot on the street to leave the rental car. This was a quick in and out so I didn't pay a meter and lucked out. After waiting for the two people in front of me who apparently have never ordered a sandwich before in their lives, it was my turn. "Italian sub. Large. All the way." So very easy. It took only a couple of minutes and I had my sub in hand. It was unwrapped about 20 minutes later sitting at a counter in the Oklahoma City Airport. Delicious! Crunchy bread, spicy toppings, thin sliced meat and cheese, topped with veggies and spicy peppers and perfection. Recently ate here with the family ..my husband and I split the chicken Philly which included an assorted amount of peppers which tied into well and with the well seasoned chicken( which they wasn't stingy with) everything blended well together it was very flavorful and the sauce on the sub was great also it packs bit of a mild kick to the sub so if you're not a fan of spicy might want to let them know to leave the peppery chili flakes off . Only two things that I have to say negative is the pepperoni pizza... I wasn't impressed and the lady taking the money ...and not wearing gloves or washing her hands afterwards and proceeding to make other patrons food. read more

Hobby's is a good place downtown to grab a sandwich. I have enjoyed their Italian sub and the Reuben with pastrami instead of corned beef. I haven't branched out to pizza or to a Philly cheese steak yet because I don't want to go that crazy on a work day. They can be a little bit slow sometimes, but the sandwiches are food and worth the wait from time to time. Finally got around to trying the "Philly hoagie"--Hobby's twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak. Traditional elements are excellent: juicy ribeye steak with onions, melty cheese, and a fluffy hoagie roll. This would be a good, simple sandwich if the ingredients list stopped here, fortunately the party continues. Tomatoes, pickles, and diced red pepper sauce are not expected on a normal Philly. To the stark traditionalist, these additions might spell blasphemy, but if you're inclined to omit them, you will be missing out. The cool toppings contrast beautifully with the hot cheese/onions/steak trifecta. The tomatoes and pickles add crunch and acid, while the pepper sauce adds zest and spice. The temperature dynamics are splendid; not unlike a sandwich equivalent of a warm-cookie/brownie ice cream sundae. Amongst a crowded menu of fantastic entrees, the Philly hoagie competes for a top spot. Eat it. I pass this place everytime I go to the downtown library and today I stopped. Wished I had stopped here sooner. I've been looking for a new sandwich place to go to and Hobby's Hoagies will now be it. I ordered the Philly Supreme since the employee, Melvin, told me it was the most popular. Melvin answered all of my questions*. He was very nice and polite, so A+ for customer service. The sandwich was very good. I literally enjoyed every single bite, and although I was full after eating it, it was so good that i was a little sad. I also grabbed a few desserts with one being shown in the pic, the other is not because my boyfriend scarfed it down too quickly. His report was that the brownie was very good. The cheesecake square was also good. I would recommend this place. * I ask a lot of questions at times(ok, all the time) and I always appreciate when those in Customer service do not show impatience.
