Went in the other day needing 2mm screws, I couldn't tell what type of tool was needed to tighten the stew in place, so I asked a worker. He handed me the tool, I said thanks. Got home tried to use the tool and the damn thing was bigger then then the screw and come to find out it was just an Allen wrench which I have plenty of at home. Return policy is horrible. Customers do not need to know about your vendors, nor do they need to see if you can fix the broken item it's broken, refund or exchange it. Can you imagine if Everytime you return something to a store and they tried to fix it or told you they had to call the manufacturer to see if they can send parts? Then the clerk insults me by saying " we are not Walmart". I guess all Mexicans just shop at Walmart huh? Bought a thousand dollar RC car (Traxxas Xmax) and they said "ANYTIME you need help with any part or repair just call us! We're here to help" well I called and asked if they had a steering control box. That's not the technical term exactly but it's certainly close enough. It's in the shape of a little box and it controls the steering. The LADY on the phone said "I don't know what your talking about". She asked for the part number which I didn't have because I was driving. Again, I said it's a little box that controls the steering in the car....again she said I have no idea what your talking about. Ok. Lady thanks, you CERTAINLY could have asked one of the more knowledgeable sales or repair people what I meant. Yes? So.....I guess they weren't as helpful as they said they would be and I have decided to buy all the replacement parts online from here on out. I have a Baja Rey 1/10 running a 3s lipo. Went in to get a second 3s lipo battery. I went to put the battery in my truck and it wouldn't fit. I thought it was weird. Slightly thicker than the one I have already. Went in and they couldn't believe it either. They wanted me to take out the spacer inside the battery compartment to run that battery they sold me. I didn't want to because then that battery and my old battery would have way too much space and bounce all over. So they said i can use foam or bubble wrap! Lol. Um no! He kept saying everyone running 3s needs to remove the plate which is a lie because me and my buddies run 3s and have the spacer still.They aren't very knowledgeable they didn't know how to remove the spacer off ny truck they were just tugging and pulling. wish I would've remember the brand of the battery they were trying to put in cuz turns out that the company recently started to add steel plates on that battery to keep them from puffing. They found only found out because they got an older battery of the same brand that fit right in and was slimmer. They refuse to give me my money back even only store credit as a one time thing because of the situation. Which is bs because they should stay ontop of the product they sell. I asked if they can just solder the battery that fit in my truck to work with my truck plug but said no cuz if it catches on fire and burns my house down they are responsible. Lol. Every other shop I've been to solders battery. One of the employees mentioned to the owner to remove the shrink wrap take the plates off and use the shrink wrap they have there. Which I thought hey that's a good idea if u can do it for me awesome. And we can just put this situation behind and continue shopping here. But the older man said "no. He has to buy the shrink wrap and do it himself!" Jesus Christ man!! Also While I was there this older couple were there because their servo went out of a car they just had bought from them and they also refused to replace it for free. they sold them a new servo and told them to contact the manufacturer. I have been shopping for rc planes and parts and been involved in the hobby for over 20 years, and this is one of the best places to go. The store is very well-stocked with everything from cars/quadcopters/planes and parts/support equipment as well as toys for younger hobbyists. Staff are knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and make you feel welcome. Their "Real Flight" simulator is always turned on for people to get a feel for flying rc aircraft, or to practice before upgrading to a more challenging one. So before you go online to order your plane or part from afar, check out this local Hobby Town. I went in and bought a RC truck and went home and the remote didn't work. I called that very same day to notify them that the RC car I just bought an hour or two ago didn't work and they said I had to contact the manufacture for any warranty issues. I couldn't believe what they were telling me, so I went back to Hobby Town and showed them that the remote was defective and they pretty much said they couldn't do anything for me. So from what I gather from this low level customer service store / franchise is that they don't stand behind their products and could carless if the customer received a defective product. And I'm not talking about receiving an RC car that I got to play with and then it breaks a few hours later or a few days later, no I'm talking about receiving an RC car that was defective right out of the box, never worked. So warning to all, stay away from buying from this company and buy from" Responsible" retail store or online website that stands behind their products and customers. I went to this store once and they had some great O scale models and accessories but the only thing is They Don't Fix Them. You have to drive all the way to Orange County just to get your trains fixed. They did have a great selection of Lionel Stuff but would of been nice to have a place closer to home to fix my trains. I don't like to do things like this, but I feel forced to speak up publicly... My daughter (12 yrs old) is very creative and loves to paint... she saved up all her chore money ($100+) to buy an air brush paint gun from HobbyTown USA Corona CA. She had nothing but problems with it, we read all the instructions, did all that it said and it still did not work correctly. So we went to return it WITH the receipt... and I have NEVER been treated so badly!! At first a young man helped us and said they could only return it for store credit (seriously), then this older woman stepped in and grilled my 12 yr old on how exactly she used it, what kind of paint and on and on... then she basically called my daughter a liar and said she must not have been using it correctly and that we would have to call the manufacturer and deal with them on it and they would not do anything to help us. Are you kidding me!!!! She then proceeded to tell me how no stores accept returns like this... um, if I have a receipt I can literally return anything anywhere but your store‍!!! I contained my momma bear because I didn't want to lose it in front of my daughter... forget the money... I've spent close to $2000 at this store over the past few years. The selection is OK, the prices are reasonable (although better deals can be found elsewhere), but the real reason I kept coming back was convenience as it's close to where I live. Most of my transactions have gone well, but each and every time the blonde woman (Steph) is involved I am left speechless at how poorly she treats customers. She's rude, arrogant, and generally gives off a very negative energy. For that reason I will be driving to another store to shop. Called hours before I arrived was told over the phone said they had a drone specialist who is very good I drone I could point me in the right direction so I took the trip 15 miles to their location in Corona and was greeted by a young guy who said I have no idea how to work that then he referred me to check the Internet for manuals and by the way (why you think I'm walking in the Internet doesn't have nothing on this unit)then he proceeds to tell me we used to sell those here but we don't so I don't know how to work it I waited while he did a quick Google search and came up with nothing they referred me to another store 30 miles away not only do they have a drone specialist or someone of basic knowledge they also are not in the making money I would've paid with every cost just to learn how to fly this dang thing read more

What a great customer service. My 13 year old son bought a $100.00 remote control car from them just after christmas after four weeks he had a small part fall off. We took it into them to see how much to have them replace the part. The young guy behind the counter said he thought maybe they could do it under warrenty but he would have to ask the boss. 2 days later they called and said it was done, free of charge. Just came in here and got the best service ever had in a long time at a business. I had honestly like 500 questions for all of our toys (rc boats, rc cars,) my boys went to town!!!! Honestly I just spent almost an hour and half here he helped patiently the whole time. Best part, he explained to my boys how to stay safe while doing there hobbies....that was priceless to me! I will come back here from now on, they are HONEST...how do I know? Cuz my husband just got ripped off big somewhere else and paid double what they would have charged us here. And I didn't even tell them what my husband paid, I waited to hear if we got ripped off at the other store first. Yep. Also, they have a wide variety of everything which is fun to just walk around and look while the kids ask and ask and ask more questions. Loved this place! Two days ago I came to Hobby town and spent $700 buying a brand new axial bomber and extras . Today I came in, I was purchasing parts, And getting great help from a young man. I asked him if I could look behind the counter, while having a receipt in my hand from just making a purchase. Given it was my second purchase in approximately five minute period. The manager mistakenly thought it was an item as I put it in my pocket. Being accused of being a thief is about the worst thing that could happen especially in front of a store full of customers. I basically stripped just sort of getting naked. To prove that I had stolen nothing. Not getting an apology was the worst part. Needless to say I will never ever go to HobbyTown USA or recommend them to anybody that I know. Needless to say I returned my $150 worth of items and left and will never go back read more

After 20 years of being a customer of the Corona Hobbytown, I will no longer be going there, many times when I arrive the back Door is open as it was today, as I entered the store I was immediately stopped by an employee behind the counter and told to go back outside, drive around front and enter there, the back door is for employees only, at the same time two more customers walked in the back and not a word was said to them. The door was open, no signs saying no entrance or delivery only, I entered there as I have many times before. After my encounter with the employee, I called the Owner and told her what had gone on in her store, and was treated as if I was bothering her, I also told her I did not appreciate the way I was treated and I thought she may be losing a long tome Customer. While I realize that as busy as that store is,losing my business is no big deal, just very disappointed in the outcome. I called this location to see if a part was available and they told me they have one available. I traveled more than 36 miles just to go to the store and buy the part. But when i got there they told me that somebody reserved it. So i just wasted my time, effort, energy, and gasoline to go there for nothing! They should have told me when I called that the part I was looking for was already on hold. And worst is the sales associate just told me he even traveled more than one hour just to get to work. I made the mistake of buying a Dromida Vista quad opted there around Christmas for $80ish. I came to realize I could have gotten the same thing at Hobby People for $20 less on sale. I know...my bad for not researching, but I use this example to illustrate a point. My husband and I go here frequently. More frequently then I would like cuz it usually means we're gonna spend quit a bit of money. But the store is very well kept and organized and I must say all of the staff are very eager to help. And they always fill my husbands head with All the know leg and tips he needs to complete the task at hand. They had a great variety of r/c trucks and trinkets and parts needed for them. And if they don't have it they will special order pretty much anything u need and call you wen it arrives. Sometimes my husband even calls ahead and asks them to hold parts and I'll go pick it up and it's there and ready for pick up which is very nice. VERY RUDE. I've shopped here many times in past. I've experienced very good customer service with the older gentlemen he always seems very knowledgeable and cares about customer service and satisfaction. On this particular day in front of the entire staff and paying customers I was told that I couldn't park in the back because there was no customer parking at the back of the store by Amanda the general manager. She said it in such a condescending tone I felt I was being scolded for something. I asked why the back door was open and why there isn't any signs anywhere. I explained that I had an oversized vehicle today which nearly takes almost two parking spaces. She rudely said It didn't matter that I had to park in front of the store. Lots of selection in a variety of hobbies! I was impressed with the board and card game isle as well as the train miniatures. Hobbytown has some of the latest RC vehicles including quad copters and off road trucks as well as staff that seem to know enough about what they sell to help you with basic needs. My rating comes primarily from the selection, organization and cleanliness of the location- the staff could use a tad better customer service and some friendlier faces to appeal to the types of customers that would buy some of their items. read more

I have been away from RC cars for over 30 years until recently. I visited several hobby stores but no one was interested in explaining the new technology until I went to Hobbytown in Corona. Stephanie spent as much time as I wanted explaining and answering my questions. There was no pressure to sell me something that I didn't need. I have since been back at least a dozen times and made purchases there. The prices are reasonable and the selection is vast.
