    Smashburger with sweet potato fries
    Sara R.

We decided to come to Hobnob for brunch and had been here before, so we were excited since my brother was visiting from abroad and was craving southern food. The staff was kind enough to seat us earlier than our original reservation, which was a really nice touch and much appreciated. I was also happy to see a decent number of gluten-free options. While the main dishes are a bit limited, most of the sides are gluten-free. Now for the food, the crispy chicken sandwich was the highlight of the meal. The Smashburger was also delicious. I ordered the rockfish without the bun, while my dad had it with the bun, and both were great. The beet salad was fresh and flavorful, and the fries were solid. The mac & cheese, unfortunately, was not good at all. On the plus side, the hot cider was delicious. Desserts were a bit of a mixed thoughts. The bread pudding was definitely the best one we tried and really enjoyable. However, the chocolate peanut butter pie was a big disappointment. It was extremely hard and cold (not pie texture), the peanut butter wasn't creamy at all, and it honestly tasted more like a protein bar loaded with sugar. The crust also tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while--disappointing. Overall, we still enjoyed our visit and many of the dishes were great, but the dessert experience could definitely be improved.

Such a cute spot -- I absolutely loved it! The ambiance is perfect, cozy, and inviting. It's a great brunch location -- not overly crowded, but lively enough to have a good vibe. The décor is spot-on and really adds to the overall experience. The food was delicious! I had the almond croissant French toast with bacon and a blood orange mimosa -- both were amazing. The location isn't in a typical restaurant area, and I do wish it were on a main road or surrounded by more places to explore, but that doesn't take away from how charming it is. The inside is beautifully done with a relaxed, upbeat atmosphere. Definitely a brunch spot worth coming back to!

Everything was excellent. We wanted somewhere quiet and outdoors after a day of being around a madhouse pf people and this came up in my search. They seated us where we wanted and were very attentive when needed. My hubby loved the shrimp n grits and my smash burger was great. Our daughter wasn't loving the fries because she said they were skinny and over cooked but she is super picky.

An unassuming diner in the middle of a neighborhood, Hobnob knocked my socks off. I had brunch with some friends on a leisurely Sunday, and each of the guests remarked on the quality of the food, beautiful decor and friendly service. The interior features clean and modest decor with some pretty plant art on the walls. I liked the comfortable setting, well-lit with natural light. I ordered the corned beef hash, which came with freshly-made beef cubes that were juicy, tender, and well-flavored; not canned! Other plates included the breakfast plate and Chesapeake quiche, which looked remarkable. My wife said the biscuits were probably the best she ever had. I highly recommend trekking out here. Bring your friends, dates, networking buddies, and more. I can't say enough good things about this hidden gem.

The services were great but the food was just alright. The idea of each dish is interesting but the delivery was just okay.

Another positive experience. Sat at the bar, service was quick and bartender friendly. Fall 2025 menu featured a butternut squash lasagna - super tasty and portion was perfect. Also tried the bison bolognese, very tasty as well and hearty. Not sure if the pasta is made in hose but it tasted very fresh.

We went for lunch. They shrimp and grits was really good. We also got the falafel and fried green tomatoes. The inside is small so you should probably make reservations even for lunch. The customer service was great. We will definitely be back to try their dinner menu.

Hobnob is one of my go-to restaurants in Richmond! The food is always delicious and the staff is so attentive and friendly! I went there for brunch and got the Eggs Benedict, and it was absolutely incredible. I highly recommend trying out this spot for any occasion, the desserts are divine too!

What a nice evening at Hobnob! I organize a monthly dinner group and our October visit was to Hobnob. It proved to be a very popular choice. There were 12 of us for dinner. Staff was terrific and took great care of everyone. The shrimp and grits proved to be the most poplar dish at the table. We were also amazed at the portion size of the trout. I was in a mood to graze so I had the fried oysters (great!) and the prosciutto/fig jam flatbread pizza, which was a really amazing combination of flavors, especially with the peppery arugula. Great atmosphere. Look forward to dining there again!

Tiny little out of the way place, this is so cute. Small parking lot admittedly, but with inside, outside, and bar. We chose seating at the bar and the bartender was great. My friend was a bit confusing explaining her separation requires as far as the to go order, her gluten allergy, and how she wanted everything separated for the trip, but the bartender was great about it. I got the spinach omelet and she got the breakfast meal without the biscuit. I didn't get the potatoes that came with it but she mentioned how good they were so I tried them. (I don't normally like potatoes for breakfast, it's nothing against any restaurant.) The potatoes were really good, the sauce on them was delish. My omelet was amazing! I couldn't finish it all, so it went home with my friend for her chickens. She really enjoyed her bacon and eggs, and her fiance will hopefully enjoy his chicken and waffles!

Does the covered patio have heaters?

yes they have heaters at the top of the walls around the edges and at least one standalone heater. Recommend dressing warmly if the weather is cold bc it doesn't heat up too much, but there is no wind

Hi - is there a kids' menu? Or off-menu an order of fried chicken breast and fries? Thanks.

Yes, they have things like chicken fingers, Mac n cheese, and applesauce for lunch and dinner. They also have a kids breakfast special! Enjoy!

There is a huge empty booth right in the front across from the hostess stand, no one was sitting there, we asked if we could sit there for just a moment to cool off in the AC- we were rudely told no we had to wait outside. The next family in line included 2 elderly women and a baby all dressed gorgeous, they also were told they had to wait outside in 105 weather. After about 20 minutes of waiting, (I was just going to tell them to forget it) they said our table was ready. Well, instead of inside with AC as we requested we were seated in a gazebo porch area that they claimed had AC. By this time we were so desperate for cool, we didn't argue that we had requested INSIDE not whatever this room was. It ended up being like sitting in a tuna can. So uncomfortable, my husband and bro in law just went and sat in the car with the AC blasting. Waitress was sporadic to put it nicely. Meanwhile, back inside the booth across from the hostess stand was still empty. Food was fine. But I don't think this place will be around much longer.

When they learned we were celebrating our anniversary, they surprised us with warm bread and house-made herbed butter on the house, a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the evening. We started with the Lamb Lollipops and the Slow-Braised Pork Belly, and both were exceptional. The flavors were rich, balanced, and incredibly well executed. Every bite was cooked to perfection and left us excited for the next course. My spouse had the Bone-In Pork Rib Chop with roasted peaches, haricot verts, roasted poblano cornbread, and pickled peach mustard. This dish was absolutely phenomenal. Every component complemented the others beautifully. The sweetness of the peaches, the slight tang of the mustard, the savory pork, and the cornbread all came together in a way that felt thoughtful and perfectly balanced. It wasn't just delicious, it was memorable. To finish, we shared the Mascarpone Cheesecake with oat and almond crumble and summer berry ice cream. Heavenly doesn't even begin to describe it. Service on the rooftop was extremely slow, several menu items were unavailable, our order was incorrect, and the overall experience fell far short of expectations. To their credit, management reached out, listened to the feedback, and invited our group back to give them another chance. I'm very glad we did. This time we dined in the downstairs dining room, which has a beautiful moody-chic library atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for a great meal. Our server, Sophie, was friendly, attentive, efficient, and everything service should be. The cocktails were all scrumptious and served in beautiful glassware. We started with the short rib and mac-and-cheese egg rolls, which were delicious. For entrees, our group ordered the Greek grain bowl, shrimp and grits, banh mi, Cobb salad, and Caesar salad. The Greek grain bowl was enormous--I gave it my best effort and still took home nearly a third of it. More importantly, every dish was excellent. No notes to give. Everything was top-notch. What impressed me most wasn't that the restaurant had a bad night the first time around. Every restaurant can have an off day.
