They place on the inside was really small like four tables , the customer service was really nice , they sat us with no reservations. I should have done my research though because this places had a lot of seafood on the menu and unfortunately I'm allergic to sheep fish . I ordered the cheeseburger and it came with fries that was over cooked to the point is had no potato on the inside. Hobnob is one of my favorite restaurants. Words can't describe the food, drinks, service and ambiance. I love that the menu rotates with the seasons but they keep a few staple items on there. The brunch is probably one of the best in the area. Lastly, the carrot cake has been a staple since I first visited. The best cake you will ever eat. read more

I made a reservation for 5. Only option was for the patio. On this date the temperature was in the 40's. The 3 wall heaters were not able to battle the cold. The patio does not have solid walls on 2 sides. I asked whether we could be seated inside (a Sunday at 10:30 am) and was told no. I asked whether we could be seated closer to the heaters, as there were multiple open tables on the patio. Our waitress touched base with shift manager, who told her no. She told me she was told by the manager that people had specifically reserved remaining empty tables on the patio. Interestingly, no other customers arrived to eat at the patio until 1 hour later (i.e., 11:30). I do feel the food was good, and reasonably priced. The food came promptly, and our waitress was attentive. I would not return because I feel that I can't trust them. read more

If you are coming here for Brunch on a Sunday I'd highly recommend making reservations. This restaurant is on the smaller side with indoor and outdoor seating along with a small bar. We got there at 915a when they open at 9a and no outdoor seating was available on the patio. We were able to be seated immediately inside. I was really hoping they had more Gluten free options on the menu but there was 3 or 4 options (one being a salad). I was torn between the omelette with pepper jelly or shrimp & Grits. I ordered the Shrimp & Grits along with a Pomegranate mimosa. Our server was very nice and attentive. The shrimp & grits were lack luster to me and I was very disappointed about it. The shrimp was not seasoned at all. It tasted like it was just thawed and added in. The cold tomatoes paired with the hot shrimp & grits was a bit odd and didn't really mesh well together. I stopped by for lunch yesterday and service was prompt. We opted to sit outdoors. Our server was very attentive and was knowledgeable about the menu. That's always a plus for me when it's my first time visiting. I ordered the mushroom swiss smashburger medium well with a side of sweet potato fries. We stayed in Richmond for three days and ate here 3 different times and honestly I already miss their food. We started with dinner on Friday , kids loved their meals, and you know how picky kids can be. They're fries are amazing and the food came out nice and hot. The blueberry mojito was great as well. Saturday we went by again for a salad , just to see if the previous night was just "luck" . I had their shrimp snd asparagus salad and the hubby had their fried chicken Cobb. Both were delicious! Then there was Sunday brunch, deviled eggs, fried chicken and waffles, blueberry vegan friendly pancakes and the star of the show in my opinion their key lime pie. You can't go wrong here! They have classic brunch cocktails and different menu selections depending on the seasons. We always love their chicken & waffles! I've been here twice, the first time I had a pecan crusted trout that was on the menu at the time and it was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. I wasn't overly thrilled with the brussel sprouts mix but it was just ok. I ordered the scallops appetizer which both my and I enjoyed. I tried the what I believe was the Jungle Bird mojito, very tasty. My most recent visit was to try the shrimp fried green tomatoes. I ordered the Vinho Verde Rosé which had very intense fruity flavors but it seemed to pair well with the tomatoes. I was thrilled with the breading used for the tomatoes and they felt slightly over cooked, the edges were a little hard for me but the shrimp which was nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked is what helped to make this dish better. The tomatoes were topped with shredded lettuce (slight overkill), and a creole remoulade sauce. Not sure I got creole flavoring but the sauce wasn't bad and I thought helped enhance the flavor since the breading disappointed. Have eaten here 3x now in different seasons and will be back again soon. It's a nice and cozy spot for a brunch late lunch during the workweek. The scallops were absolutely nailed. The pimento cheese hushpuppies really surprised me - I thought it was going to be more of a "cheese oozing out" situation, but they manage to keep perfect hushpuppy texture while packing it with cheese flavor at the same time. We're always looking for places with at least one or two exciting vegetarian dishes, and this place has awesome variety with something for everyone. Service is always killer. read more

I'm a Richmond native but transplanted to Houston and my mom took me here on a visit back home. I was very impressed. We started with the fried oysters which were the best I've had in Richmond. Seasoned perfectly and crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. I chose the short rib sandwich for my entree and I'm glad I did. Very clean sandwich and the pickles and Dijon made it pop! And the sweet potato fries were perfect-best I've had, no lies. We also had two carafes of the pomegranate mimosa that was very fresh. Craige was our server and she made us feel right at home. The food was wonderful, I enjoyed the oysters and my pasta was delicious and my boyfriend's pork bao buns were really good but the rest was just unfortunate. We had out of town guests and I wanted to take them to one of our local favorites. The weather turned bad and we were seated on the patio but we had eaten on the patio in cold weather before and it was fine but this time it was raining and the wind was blowing and we were forced to sit at an outside table on the patio and the hostess wouldn't let us move the table closer to a heater, we were freezing and probably should have left but where do you go at 7 on a Friday that doesn't have a wait. We were not allowed to move to an empty table close to a heater and couldn't move when another table was open but watched while another party that arrived after us was moved when they asked to be moved. I asked the wait person if we could move the table in, they could have easily staggered the tables so no one had to sit in the rain and at first she said no and I said I was getting rained on and my right side was wet from the rain and it was cold and she finally said ok. Our guests were not impressed with how the situation was handled but were too polite to ask to leave. read more

What a wonderful dining experience we had last night at Hobnob! It's taken me a long time to finally eat here but I can't wait to go back. If I could describe what I love about the experience it's that Hobnob is unpretentious but finessed. I love its location, right in Lakeside, tucked back into a neighborhood. It's got two nice patios, one in the front and one on the side. It's across from a convenience store that's lit up bright red and white which adds a kind of glow to the ambience. Inside, you'll find a cozy setting with modern booths and chairs. Immediately the server came to greet us with waters and she was fabulous. It's so refreshing to dine somewhere where the server gets excited about the food and you can tell they know the restaurant well. Throughout our meal she checked on us often, always peppy. I probably could've eaten a couple of the entrees because they all looked good. They have quite a variety with chicken tikka masala, bbq sandwich, salads, salmon, chicken piccata. This would be a great place for a group with different tastes. For our appetizer we had the crab and fennel toasts and a side of cauliflower tomato soup. The soup was quite memorable and thick like a purée. We both felt the crab and fennel toast needed some more flavor but we still enjoyed it. For an entree, I ordered the strawberry rhubarb bbq sandwich with a side of fries while my boyfriend went with the crab and shrimp orecchiette. I almost picked mac and cheese but the server advised against it. Our meal was so good. The star of the night was dessert so don't miss out! We got a crème brûlée cheesecake and a four layer chocolate cake. If you can get my non-dessert boyfriend to enjoy dessert you are pretty special. Our meal came out to 100 dollars... not too bad. My wife and I had reservations for 7 and we were seated right away when we got there at 655. The restaurant has a parking lot on the side of the restaurant and there is indoor, outdoor and covered outdoor seating. Honestly, I was surprised how small this place was. The inside might seat 30. I think the outdoor area can seat more than the inside. Plus the inside bar has about 8 seats. They have a fairly small menu selection compared to chain places, but they cover all areas- shrimp and grits, sirloin, pork chops, lobster club sandwich, crab dip appetizers, etc. I had the mahi mahi and it was very good. I am not sure where it came from but there was a bit of spice to it. I liked it a lot but if you dont like spicy... avoid this. My wife had the lobster club. It is a little hole in the wall restaurant that is worth trying out. I recommend getting a reservation as they were full by 7 pm with people waiting outside and as i mentioned- it is not a large place. read more

We got there just before 5 with only one other table seated and before we ordered the place was packed! Oh and when you come in they have desserts on display. I wanted to have a three course meal of desserts alone!! We started with the Brussels sprouts appetizer. Very good. Not overdone with vinegar or bacon like some other places. It was fresh and delicious. I had the beef short rib pasta and a side salad. The balsamic was very thick. Good flavor, I just prefer a thinner dressing. The pasta was fine, a comfort dish. It was sort of a white "sauce" with lots of short rib. Nothing stood out special about the dish. When I go back I will try something else, this is not that is making me come back. My friend ordered the rockfish. That was amazing! It was crispy and had great flavor!! That is definitely something I would come back for!! Dessert was a tough choice! We got the peanut butter chocolate pie and cafe mocha creme brûlée. Both were fabulous! If I lived near this place I would have a problem bc I would walk over on the regular for a dessert! This little place lives up to its billing. The food is delicious. Tried the fried oysters to start. They are the best in the Richmond area hands down and rival fried oysters in the Northern Neck. Had the Fried Chicken Cobb Salad and it was the best cobb salad I have eaten. Lots of flavors, colors, and textures and beautifully presented. My wife had the shrimp and grits. The smoked gouda gave them a real wow factor and were excellent. The chocolate peanut butter pie was decadent and to die for. The ambiance was cozy and homey. Quite a lovely place. After hearing great things, we came with great expectations. And while the experience is not a huge disappointment, there were issues with every dish we ordered. On arriving, we were shown to the small bar to await a table. No problem, we didn't have a reservation, this is to be expected. There are indoor and outdoor tables (with no umbrellas or shade outside we opted to wait for an indoor seat.) So we indulged in a round of bloodies (tea for the driver) and took in the atmosphere. The house Bloody Mary is okay. Bowman's vodka, BM mix, optional shake or two of texas pete, garnish. Nothing fancy or creative, but at $7 the price was right for what we got. We were shown to a table long before the drinks were gone. Our order was one chicken and waffle, one brunch burger, and one crab benedict as mains, with an order of lemon ricotta fritters to start. The fritters were very tasty, even though the lemon flavor was completely lost in the strawberry compote on top. And we did have to rescue it from the wrong table when it was sat down -- the last order the kitchen had available so I hope we didn't look too desperate when we raised the alarm! As to the mains.... The waffle with the chicken and waffle was hopelessly undercooked -- it couldn't even be speared on a fork but instead split and flopped on the plate over and over. It should never have come out of the kitchen. The chicken was average. The burger was a good meal but my medium rare came out medium well and correspondingly dry. Likewise, the poached egg on the crab benedict was very overcooked -- barely any non-hard yellow at all. The hollandaise was very good, as was the biscuit and the crabcake. But a poaced egg needs to run. The fried potatoes that came with each were crispy and nice. Taken in all, the kitchen was sloppy, with insufficient attention to cook times and food quality. Maybe it was a bad day or a new cook. We'll give it another chance in the future, but it's not high on the list. read more
