I started having problems with my laptop network card and it quickly grew into a problem that couldn't be ignored. Several calls to the Asus customer service didn't resolve things, nor did my own attempts at fixing it, including reinstallation and upgrades, etc. Asus indicated that the laptop was under warranty, but a day later backpedaled and informed me that it would be at my expense and they couldn't quote without seeing it but could estimate $500. Instead I took my laptop to CTA and it was fixed in about a day. I left it there over the weekend to make sure it was in fact stable, picked it up, and it has been as good as new for 4 days now - without the cost. I hope I don't need this service again, but if and when I do, I will 100% be using CTA. read more

This had to be the most unprofessional company and customer service I ever had to deal with. We dropped off my laptop + my wife's laptop to get fixed. The main guy @ Hoboken Tech never gave us any updates. We had to try calling chasing for any news for weeks. He said would have it fixed by a certain time and call us with an update that never happened and then never respond to our calls or when he did days later would come up with some nonsense excuse. To the point, we had to buy a different laptop for work because couldn't wait anymore. It got to the point that he stopped answering the phone completely, kept ignoring our calls for +1 month. I finally had to take off work to go there today to pick it up or try to talk to the guy because he wouldn't answer the phone. 2 months later, the laptop wasn't still fixed (1 was, and the other wasn't). At this point, I just wanted my laptops back. He had the nerve to say "the laptop was still open, that he would close and return it. That it would have been another 15 minutes"... Unbelievable. I finally get home and notice the screws under the laptop case are missing, so the bottom is loose. I'll just order screws or take them somewhere else. I highly suggest to not stress yourself and take your business somewhere else. read more

Hoboken Tech Solutions has had my laptop since October 2020. I have stopped by the shop several times to ask about the status of the repair and am always told "it will be ready in two days" THIS IS NOW ALMOST 4 MONTHS AGO. I just want my computer back! Trying to contact this shop by phone is impossible as all calls go to voicemail and, guess what, the voice mailbox is full! I can't begin to express the gratitude and appreciation I have for Jeff and the staff at CTA. My MacBook decided to get a little crazy one night and drank a little too much wine. It didn't turn on, so I brought it to CTA since they were the only computer repair store offering free computer service if they couldn't fix the problem. Although it was a timely process, Jeff sent my computer to some expert Apple friends in Cali at no charge to me, who confirmed that my computer was long gone. A few months later I was in the process of selling the MacBook for parts, and returned to CTA to have my files pulled onto an external hardrive and have the MacBook hardrive wiped clean. Jeff recommended that I keep the hardrive as opposed to wiping it, offered some advice on pricing that I should expect selling the machine for parts, and even called some colleagues to see if they were interested in buying it. Upon payment (typically $85/hour), Jeff said that his team had decided I had been through enough hardship with my expensive loss, and said the service was on the house. I was shocked - as well as reminded that its frequently better to go with the small mom & pop shop over a corporate enterprise. This is a real find, as other computer repair services I've used here in town, were very pricey, rushed, and kind of curt, each time I have had them do any servicing on my computers. Have used CTA three or four times now, and each time, came away feeling that the quality of the work was excellent and the price was very reasonable. Jeff, the owner, makes home visits to repair computers, printers, and do basic wiring of all electronic equipment. He also does phone support. He is a certified Apple dealer, and gets discounts when ordering Apple laptops, and other Apple parts and products for you. This last detail is important, as my Apple laptop is approaching six years old, and Apple will no longer repair it. I will probably need a new one by January, and Jeff is the guy I will go to when that time comes, since he can get me a 20% discount on a new model, that is shipped directly to me from Apple. Living in Hoboken seems to be getting more and more expensive. This computer service is a major great value, and I won't go anywhere else in town. I went to HTS because coffee spilled on my MacBook Air and it was no longer powering up. After the panic subsided I went to Apple and they said they would need to send it out and it would most likely cost about $750 to fix...funny thing is they never even opened up my machine... That's when I decided to try a local computer specialist, and I am so happy I found Jeff and his team at HTS. I'm also happy to report that I am writing this review on the same computer that by all accounts was a goner. Rare honest service! After experiencing a crash on my PC I called several places in the area. Most places sounded annoyed that they had to answer the phone. One guy told me, without even looking at it, that I needed a new computer and he just happened to have some used ones for sale. CTA was friendly and very efficient. Great guy. I brought in my touch screen PC when the LCD was coming off the back panel. Jeff called me the next day saying it was an easy fix and I could come pick it up. I visited CTA because my laptop had a virus and was causing it not to operate correctly. I found other ratings on this store on Yelp so called for an estimate. Jeff called me back promptly with all the information I requested. Because I needed my laptop fixed quickly for business I dropped it off Saturday and he was able to turn it around by that next Monday morning. I also had some older computer items that I needed assistance with. Jeff was able to transfer some files for me off of an older PC and put it onto my laptop so I could donate the PC as well as hookup an older printer to my current laptop. The rate was very reasonable for all items and I was happy with the work. CTA also carries additional items like ink cartridges and paper at a reasonable rate. After reading the positive reviews here I decided to give this small business a shot. Boy am I glad I did. I unfortunately cracked the screen on my laptop. Bummed at the unexpected expenditure I searched online to see how to replace myself. I saw part II of a video and decided I would go for it. I took a chance and bought a screen on my own and started to take apart my laptop. Fear of removing things from my motherboard made me stop. I took the laptop and part to CTA and asked if he could try to use the part I ordered. Normally some shops will refuse. Not here. Within 24 hours I had a call from CTA confirming it was the right part and telling me I could pick it up. They charged me for 1 hours worth of labor even though it took them slightly above 1 hour. The service was personal and quick and the pricing was more than fair. Best Buy would have charged about $500 plus the cost of the part. Use these guys if you have any hardware issues whatsoever. read more

I won't go here again. My laptop wouldn't get past start up screen, he got it to come back on and saved my data. It worked for a couple of weeks but much slower and the fan never stopped running--and it died again. I spilled coffee on my macbook air. After going way above and beyond in trying to save it--which unfortunately didn't work because the video chip was dead--they transferred all of the files off my hard drive onto my new computer. Jeff charged nothing for the diagnostics and a tiny fraction of what a repair place in Manhattan would've charged to transfer the files. Great repair shop. For starters they don't charge to diagnose your computer, so it's awesome that they'll tell you what they think is needed without charging anything.
