We ordered the bossam, kimchi fried rice and kimchi chigae. The bossam was delicious, and the amount is huge! I would give the food 5/5. Service was mixed. One of the server is nice while the other basically just drop stuff off at the table. I asked him for some to go container, he didn't even bring a bag, but the other server offered it later 3/5. Absolutely delightful eats and conversation with an old friend at Hodori. I have only had KBBQ before, and no other Korean food. I let my friend make all of the decisions of what we would order because he knew what he was talking about, in contrast to myself. Either he made all of the right choices or everything on the menu is BOMB! All of the dishes I had the pleasure of trying had explosive favor. Food is excellent and that's the only reason I still dine there. Service is terrible. Not only that servers don't tend to your needs, some of the servers are rude and arrogant. I was quite disappointed with my recent visit. The service and food quality have both declined noticeably. After placing my order, no one checked in to see if I needed anything, and even when I made a request, it was forgotten. Everything was great, from the service to the food. I wished there was potato salad offered with their banchan, but it wasn't lacking anything else. I had their fried mandu and kimchi soup with beef. It was some of the best comfort, Korean food I've had in a while. Everything came out hot, temperature wise. The mandu was crunchy and savory and was too good to not eat all at once! I was super conservative on this day, so I ordered my soup mild. I thought maybe the cook would hold back on spices, but the soup came out to being a mild+, almost medium. I'm not much for super spicy food, but was very happy with the level of spiciness that was given to me. Sometimes, adding meat to the soup can be an afterthought, but there was also a good amount of beef bites to be had. The delicious scents of bulgogi and galbi are undeniable. I wish I had ordered that too, but wasn't able to carry around leftovers while I ventured all over Phoenix. Although I didn't see any meats being grilled at tables, it will come out on a sizzling, cast iron platter. So, you may or may not leave here smelling like a KBBQ joint. We are huge fans of Hodori's Traditional Bulgogi and their japchae! We moved about 20 mins east so we don't get it as often as we used to. But when we are heading home from visiting family in north Phoenix and don't feel like cooking dinner when we get home.... Hodori always hits the spot!! Pro-tip: The combos are a good deal. Expect a wait during dinner hours. Highlights: The food is definitely very authentic and traditional. I always appreciate a seafood soup that's generous with the amount of seafood in it. Our server was also very friendly. I'd definitely return! Lowlights: There's usually a wait. I always enjoy banchan but this was the first time I had one I didn't like - the mysterious jelly that didn't taste like anything. The kimchi fried rice had such an amazing kick to it. It hit so well. The location is big and very good for big parties. I highly recommend this place if you want to go and hang out with friends. I first tasted kimchi jjigae in California and fell in love, so I've had been looking for a spot in AZ but they always fell short of my expectations until I found Hodori! It was incredibly tasty and just what I needed to fulfill my kimchi jjigae dreams :) My partner had the Bi bim bap and it was overall tasty but I wouldn't say it was the best I've had. Overall tho everything was well made. Service was good, very attentive with drinks but we were 1 of 2 tables occupied in the restaurant so not sure how it is when it's more busy. My japchae was flavorful and the noodles were just the right texture and taste! I don't recommend the kimchi bi bim bop. It totally lacked flavor and the dish consisted mostly of rice. Coming here from LA, the Korean food here is pretty solid. This was the cheapest meal of our trip! We came here on Monday night and it was 70% full and had great business. Ordered the haemul pajeon, hodori special tofu soup, sul lung tang, and oxknee soup. The pajeon was very crispy, full of seafood and veggies. The hodori special tofu soup had a lot of seafood flavor and the ramen in the soup is a great option and addition to the soup. The sul lung tang and the ox knee soup is very similar so i wouldnt recommend getting both if you want variety. Otherwise it was very warm and filling. The banchan here is great. The potatoes and cucumbers were my favorite and the server gave us a lot when we asked for a refill. Overall, great food, great options, and great prices read more

Hands down the best Korean food in the Valley. The kalbi is always so tender and juicy. The ban chan is great, Bosam is great for a group, I've never had anything here that isn't great. Service can sometimes be a little slow if they're understaffed but the food is still always on point. read more

When we went on 12/27/24, a small cockroach came across our table when we were halfway thru our dinner. Our table was directly near the food prep area. A server saw the roach and killed it and didn't seemed shocked. Two of the servers came over and said they are working on killing the roaches. Favored by many Koreans and others in Greater Phoenix, this is a solid Korean restaurant with a large selection of Korean dishes. Even cold noodle selection includes 6 different types, and this is very rare outside the noodle specialty shops. The food was solid, bibimbop, Chung goog Jang, and kimchi cold noodle. It took a little while to come out since they were busy. The food was really good. We are used to going to Korean restaurants and being asked if we needed more side dishes, but they didn't check up on us. Had to call the waitress over to ask for more side dishes. Really great Korean food. I am not experienced with korean cuisine, but it is the second korean place i've frequented many times and everything so far is delicious and tastes fresh. I love the pork soon tofu mushroom soup. It took me to heaven on my lunch break! lol. I love all the sides, they are so good. We also tried the dumplings for the first time yesterday and I loved them. The sul lung tang is so good as well, basically healed my stomach from a hangover. The bibimbap is also very good, they use less popular vegetables than other places which makes it stand out. I recommend eating at the restaurant first before taking it to go , especially if you've never had korean food. It was simple to sub tofu in the dishes to make them vegetarian, but unsure if it's possible with the soups (not sure what the stock is made of) read more
