Hoffman Plumbing is great! I was out of town and my tenant called with a leaking water heater. Hoffman Plumbing was so responsive and sent Blake out and he replaced it right away. He also told me what was wrong with the other one (which was less than a year old!). The next day my tenant had a new (unrelated) sewer drain problem. Blake couldn't make it but made sure Gio would be out ASAP. Gio cleared the drains and was also communicative and helpful. Pricing was reasonable and service was excellent! read more

I want to start off by saying the technicians were wonderful. Everything else was a dumpster file! Cliff notes version below: *Toilets and tubs were backing up. They tried to snake it. Decided the best course of action is to come back and dig where they think the blockage is AND add an access point in the front yard. *Requested an estimate before the work began. No communication. *Technician shows up without a plan (not his fault). I called the office with this information- they rerouted me to the estimator. *Estimator told me 1 technician/8 hours was going to dig where the 'pipe was broken' and also add an access point closer to the house. *3 technicians and 12 hours later (and I am paying $200 per hour per tech) they found the 'broken pipe' which was not broken and were PLANNING ON PUTTING THE ACCESS POINT IN THE LAWN WHERE THE DUG THE HOLE!!! *I told the technicians no. Free the blockage and we will reassess since it was dark at that point. *Long story short it took a week for them to come back, I had caution cones and plywood in my front yard for XMAS, they put the access point in the lawn since I was not going to pay for them to dig an ADDITIONAL HOLE in my yard. *It took multiple attempts on my part to contact the estimator for the final bill. *And here we are less than a month later and the toilets and tubs are backing up again. Please do not work with this company if you want to keep your sanity. Does anyone every get a leak on Monday? Ours happened on Friday of Memorial Day weekend, the kitchen sink. Called four plumbers with whom we had done business before. Nobody could come out until the following week. Hoffman sent their guy on Memorial Day, arrived on time, promptly diagnosed and fixed our problem. We recently discovered a leak in our hose bib. Chaz came out, earlier than expected, which pleased us immensely! He was kind, professional and went right to work. He discovered the problem and quickly fixed it! Unfortunately, another leak was discovered, we need to have Hoffman come back after 811 procedures are completed. We had Justin and Canyon from Hoffman Plumbing out to our home to address what we thought would be a relatively simple proc to unclog our kitchen sink. Not. Unclogging the kitchen sink pushed the issue "down stream" to the sink, pipes and overflow for our washer, which resulted in 2" thick sewage flowing on to our laundry room floor. And the sweet stench that came with it. Apologizing up and down, which was completely unnecessary, as they were just doing their job, they quickly diagnosed the larger issue going on and fixed it before cleaning up the ungodly mess. Most companies in that situation call a cleaning company, but given the abject mess and horrific smell and how long it might take to get someone out to remediate the issue, Justin and Canyon rolled their sleeves up and made our laundry room like new again. Uh-oh. Left the hose attached outside and it froze and split the pipe. Duh. Sent a request for a bid to Hoffman through Yelp and they responded within 30 minutes - on a Saturday. It could wait until Monday, they called first thing, and said they could be out on Wednesday. Got a call from the service guy who gave me the time he'd be there, and he was. Found the problem and fixed it in about 30 minutes. Tested our water pressure and made a few other suggestions. He was very courteous and friendly. Charged me $50 less than the nearest competitor. Requested an estimate to replace a tankless water heater. I sent pictures of the current installation. After waiting a week, received an email saying they could not help me because it was a boiler. I would be cautious of service from those who cannot properly identify the device nor take the time to verify with the customer. Maybe my heater identified as a boiler and did not tell me. You missed the point, the office contact told me 2 days, if you cannot meet that that timeframe, don't say it. I called yesterday around 3:18pm, the lady was nice and all, she was having trouble with the schedule so I told her to take her time and text me to let me know how soon and what time they could come. She told me she would get back to me at 4pm the latest. Never heard back, so I called someone else. This morning another lady called she was sounding nice and apologetic and some how I was either put on hold or lines were crossed (she didn't even bother ending the call with me) but she started talking to one of the employees (some thing about a Tahoe company making sure of their business schedule ) but she mentioned me first and she referred to me as confused or something like that because I gave her my name maiden name first and then I remember I gave yesterday the lady my married name but the cell phone I called her is under my husband's name so now I am confused. I'm sorry but not sorry, she woke me up and I took her phone call, and prior to hearing the way she was referring of me, I told her that I would definitely consider them for next time. We needed work done on our inground sprinkler system. Replacing two sections of water lines. They were excellent in calling back to discuss problem. But that is where the problem was. They wanted to charge 2 hours of driving before even starting the project. I understand that but what if they have three or four jobs that day in our area. Then that is my complaint. Getting 6 to eight hours of billing for two hours of driving from Reno. When your hourerly wage is well over $100 dollors that adds up to alot.Two much money for two little work. read more

She took my name and number and said they would call me. No call? Called a local plumber " High quality ". He told me " I will put a shirt on and be there". 10 minutes later, he showed up. We don't write poor reviews unless we work to resolve our concerns with a company first. After speaking with the company's management we received no resolution and thus we feel the need to warn others. We contacted Hoffman plumbing because our hot water heater had been out for 2 days. A service technician came to our home and simply pushed the reset button, our pilot light started and all within less than 10 minutes he said we owed him $195. We expected a minimum fee of $100 and we're never told that Hoffman Plumbing's min service fee is $195. We were shocked to be charged such a high fee for pushing a button and not taking the time to make sure it was repaired. When we talked to management they told us "we will tell our schedulers to let customers know the fee prior to sending a technician out." We were NEVER informed of this amount and we received no resolution. Furthermore within an hour of the technician leaving our hot water heater went out again and pushing the button didn't help. We then called and had to pay for another technician to come out. This time we contacted another company because we were so disappointed with Hoffman plumbing. This other company spent time to fix our problem so that the hot water heater did not go out again. They only charged us $165 for an hours labor AND new replacement parts. We regret calling Hoffman Plumbing and feel their marketing of being an honest community based company is extremely misleading. I do not recommend this company and am grateful to have found a better honest and customer service based company. read more

He arrived early to get started on the job and was finished before he had estimated. The cost was less and the estimate. Dont want to go into too much detail. Plumber came out and right away without looking at the least intrusive, simple fix, wanted to go and cut into outer wall structure for access to pipes . I said no. I then made a simple suggestion and after he followed it, job was done without the proposed destruction of building exterior. which would have been aprox $1000.00 ( just to repair "that" damage ) In the end part was $20.00 and 1 hr labor. Zero destruction. Hate to think if my Mother was alone here to deal with the issue without me here. And I am the farthest thing from a plumber. Scary. Wont use again. Its like a mechanic wanting to rebuild your engine without first checking to see if a spark plugs are fouled up. read more

Requested service to clear a gutter downspout drain that goes under pavers in our backyard. When I called for this service, no hourly rates were given on the phone. When Allen came out, he said he'd need to go back and get their hydro machine since they can't use a standard snake on the type of pipe used. Long story short, he charged me the maximum rate since they had to use this hydro machine and never disclosed the costs until I had the invoice emailed to me. When he had me sign for the services at the end, I asked about the invoice and he just said he'd email it to me. I voiced my concerns about not knowing what I was signing for as it was just a signature box on cell phone. When we voiced our concerns to the office, they had the owner Joe call the next day and said they record all calls coming in to the office so he said he had reviewed the calls and he stated that I never asked how much it would cost. When I voiced my concerns over never being given the rates even when Allen had to go back to the office and get the machine and when he had me sign for the work, Joe just said he'd "use it as added training". I admit to needing to be more diligent in asking rates when calling for services. To top it all off, he was not able to clear the drain and it cost over $470 for and hour and a half of work. Poor customer service, quality, and value. UPDATE... The icing on the cake... Joe (the owner) had called my husband prior to contacting me. I was not able to tell my husband that I had spoken with Joe before my husband returned his call. When he spoke with Joe, Joe became very combative, aggressive and threatening. He just confirmed his standard of customer service, POOR! Can't recommend and we won't be using them again. read more

Made an "appointment" with the owner Joe, to estimate replacing my sewer line. After arranging my schedule to be available, I had to call the office after an hour and a half of waiting and was told he "didn't have the necessary equipment for the task" so it would have to be rescheduled. Being the "owner" one would normally expect he would be fully prepared for the task given a week's advanced notice. Under the circumstances, one would also expect the courtesy of a call to reschedule prior to the date of the scheduled appointment AND a personal call FROM JOE to apologize for the inconvenience and disrespect for future customers. Can't address the quality of their workbut HOFFMAN PLUMBING does not seem to respect or value their potential customers. Our hot water heater finally died so we needed a new one, fast. I had requested a 50gal but only a 40gal would fit in the small space. The problem is no one said anything about a 50 wouldn't fit in there until I saw it was installed and 40 gallons. I couldn't find one that would fit online either, so I don't doub it, but they should have said something. The poor plumber was like "Oh...they didn't tell you? I'm really sorry. You can call the office if this isn't going to work and they'll work with you." Everything else went great. Clean install done the same day. The plumber was knowledgeable and helpful. The water heater is working really well, no issues with hot water despite the same size tank as we had before. Lifetime warranty as long as we have them come out and service once a year. Not too long later, after talking to my brother (who decided he and my boyfriend could do it), I cancelled. The next day, in the horrible weather, we reconsidered and called back. I had an issue with a toilet and went to Hoffman Plumbing's website to schedule a "visit". Hannah called me and said Ray would be in the area in about an hour. He called and asked if I had a new toilet for installation or whether I needed one; he picked one up and came to the house and the installation was completed in around an hour on the same day, including cleanup and disposal.
